This is an excellent book, but perhaps only if you're studying to pass the A+. However in saying that, if you have a deep interest in computers and how they work this is an invaluable source of info.
The book is well laid out and very easy to follow. It is a text book so be prepared to learn. There are many graphics that reinforce the accompanying text explanations. You will not pass the exam by reading this book alone, so I recommend internet research as well. The book comes with a disc containing practice exams that are indispensable, and some helpful videos.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this book, but I would also urge any potential A+ candidates to check out the latest version as the criteria for A+ has changed. Always check here for details.

This book is fairly clear, it could've be worse. Oh but what hell to read about the ins and outs of processors and hard drives and OS-es. What a freaking snore fest. I did, however, score pretty high on the A+ certification exam. But this was not my only resource. If you are studying for the exam do not let this be the only thing you use to study.

I work as a system & network engineer; I found most of the information in this book to be superfluous and antiquated, it feels like big chunks of work have been copied and pasted from previous iterations of the book.

When reading through and taking some notes, a few pages later the book will let you know that what you have just spent time learning is irrelevant information...

The thing that made me stop reading this book, however, is when the author refers to the BIOS as a basic input/output "service" and not a "system", ask anybody who works in IT and nobody will refer to it as a service, I guarantee it, I checked the information out on Google and found one backwater site which mentions it as a service.

I think the book will be good for those seeking specialist information but please back it up with a more contemporary and forthright source of information.

Amazing information. I really enjoyed reading this Guide and discussion by the people. As someone who is involved in this subject for many years, I would like to refer www.exam4future.com. It’s not only focused on discussing the topic inside out but also a CompTIA A+ Study Guide . Hope everybody enjoys reading the Info provided.

Clear, concise, and informative on both all of the subjects on the Comptia A+ exams, but also on general subjects important for working in IT.
Included an image of Half Life 2 as an example of something. 10/10. 100/100. Best textbook I've ever read cover to cover.

I passed! I used Mike’s video course too (via Udemy). There’s a lot of information in this book, and the practise questions are really good.

Mike knows his stuff. Not easy reading, but extremely helpful for the CompTIA A+ exam and a great reference for any IT enthusiast or professional.

Although I am not currently studying for the A+ exam, I found this book to be a good introduction to computer hardware and computing in general. I feel this book is essential for every computer user.

This is a very good book it is well written and saturated with detail, if you are looking to complete your CompTIA A+ Certification this is a great book, well at least for the next month or so as the certification will likely be updated by the new year and this book will be rendered obsolete. That being said I'm sure they will release a next edition and it will likely be the same. Michael Meyers is a great educator, this book is written in a way that makes most of this information very easy to understand and remember. The only thing that I didn't enjoy about this experience was that this book sandwiches both the 220-801 (hardware) and the 220-802 (software) certifications together. Most chapters will contain information regarding both certifications simultaneously. I might be alone on this but with the sheer volume of information required to pass these tests I decided to take the tests separate as to maximize my study time and better focus. This book really makes it hard to separate the data for study purposes. Its still a great book, and if you are planning on taking the two certification exams at the same time this would be a great choice for study materials.

Still reading this study guide. Will rate when finished.

Great organizations. This book follows the CompTIA A+ Objectives. To those who already have a lot of knowledge about computers, the reading might be a like a review and perhaps will bore you, but this guide also includes commonly missed questions even for someone who are experienced in the field.

To Those with little or no computer experience, your reading journey might be long. I suggest that you use your computer or any old computer along with the study guide for hands on experience. Just be sure to read up on computer safety first before exploring / handling the hardware components and all the connected devices in your computer. This book will not overwhelm readers with technical jargons. In my opinion, this guide is computer newbie friendly.

I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a great study guide for their A+ certification studies.

This is a tome of epic proportions. Do not, I repeat, Do not drop it on your feet.

This is a thorough book which will cover all of the details you need to pass the exam, or for use 'in the field'.

The reason I don't give it 5 stars is because a lot of the information is irrelevant; For this reason others may well like it even more, not to worry though, because this stuff is listed in the book as Historical/Conceptual.

Hope you enjoy.

See Security+ and Network+ reviews of mine, but to add to those, this book is for Computer Technicians and I'd say a Must-read for anyone interested in computers, or working with them. It offers great tools, can open doors to high-paying careers worldwide and is the foundation to get a certificate that can open doors for certain roles within the IT Tech Business world.

This is the only study tool I used for the exams, take the practice tests and read the chapters carefully and this really is the only study tool you will need.

Explained simple enough for a beginner. Could have done with just an overview of exam specifics due to previous knowledge of the field. Fun to read for a computer book though!
