Fine, fun, but short

Great example of how to use a book to sell a course. I learned from it. Light on any specifics though.

I picked this up when it was free on Amazon, because it came recommended in an author newsletter I was reading. I can’t say how accurate these tips are, since I haven’t tried doing online courses myself. However, I found it to be fairly informative in explaining the concept of why and how to create online courses.

7 Steps to Creating, Promoting & Profiting from Online Courses explained a few basic steps to consider. While it didn’t go into depth, I wouldn’t have expected it to. It also did a good job of setting up how to consider what kind of online course you might like to host, and how to potentially get customers interested in those courses.

Of course, the book does advertise for the author’s online course about online courses, but I would have been surprised if it didn’t, based on how it suggests getting people interested in the online courses you might create.

Overall, not a bad read. If you’re looking to get a feel for how to start with creating online courses or different marketing strategies, this might not be a bad starting point.

This book gives you an overview

This book is designed to give you a brief overview of creating online courses. However, Mr. Siteman Garland is not giving this book away from the goodness of his heart. Its purpose is to promote a paid course that fills in the details. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with that. What you get is a quick read that introduces his paid course. I don't regret downloading this. It is well-worth the price.

An excellent pamphlet for auto-promoting

Plagued of common old places, and intentions to sell his own products. This book (book?) doesn’t bring nothing new, not even a good path to follow for the rookie. It’s all obvious and empty garbage chat.
50% of the pamphlet dedicated to try to sell his own web for build online curses... it doesn’t worth a cent.

Follows his own advice

A good, basic intro to setting up a system to create and sell online knowledge products. Promotes the Learning Management System he helped set up (now with a different name), and his own free lead-in course. Worth reading, then re-reading and taking notes. His writing style is "breezy" but a little too jokey for me to give him 5 stars.

Simple and inspiring

DSG’s book is simple, and I’m starting to realize this is exactly why his stuff is good. It makes sense and there’s no fluff. His work is why I’m pushing forward with my course. It’s clear, simple, and easy to follow.

Just Do It

Probably the most important message...just get it done and up. You will get better, but the MVP approach advocated by the author is the right way to get it done. There’s a lot of good stuff in here. A good overview.

Very nice and quick read, I finished it in two hours. Like somebody said it's a book to advertise his course but I learned something from it. I like his language funny and easy and seriously if I want to buy a course most probably would be his.

There are definitely some good tips in this book, but it's primarily a sales hook for the author's own course: 12 modules which cost $95 each.

If you want a quick run-down on the steps to follow to create an online course, you'll find what you need in this book. If, however, you are looking for in-depth information about course creation, this book is not for you.

This book was very concise and to the point. There are helpful takeaways in the book, and you will have a seven-step process to follow when you're done reading it. The author does an excellent job of getting the facts out and leaving out the fluff.

The author also uses the opportunity to promote his products and services. Becoming aware of these products and services may be helpful to you, but it can also be somewhat annoying, especially since they occur right in the middle of the book.

This book is a quick read that may give you the outline you need to make the most of creating an online course, but if you need more content about the topic, you may want to look somewhere else.
