Tansy Rayner Roberts is a fantasy and science fiction author who lives in southern Tasmania, somewhere between the tall mountain with snow on it, and the beach that points towards Antarctica.
Tansy has a PhD in Classics (with a special interest in poisonous Roman ladies), and an obsession with Musketeers.
You can hear Tansy talking about Doctor Who on the Verity! podcast. She also reads her own stories on the Sheep Might Fly podcast.
A thoroughly enjoyable fantasy adventure/comedy -- sort of Lord of the Rings by way of Monty Python, full of clever (and silly) ideas and delightful characters. No fantasy cliche goes un-punctured, and the plots twist every which-way until finally drawing to a satisfying conclusion. The author is clearly having a ball, and I did too.
Got this one for free on Amazon. (Accidentally, if you wonder.) And a good thing too. Because... Ta-da!

Could not make it past third chapter. It's light and sort of fun - things I'm wanting right now. But - stars be merciful - IT'S ALL OVER THE PLACE. The slightly whimsical writing has the story veering every which way. So frustrating it makes me want to cry.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this to anybody.
