Four men have gone missing and Dan Connor is determined to find them. With two of them members of a remote and reclusive community, that's not going to be easy. Once again Connor is going to need the help of Walker, the man he arrested and put in jail more than twelve years ago, but Walker too is proving hard to find, and the search is going to stir up some long-buried memories for both of them.
"A pure pleasure to read." ROBERTA RICH, author of the international best-selling Midwife series.
"Authentic characters, terrific dialogue . . . Highly recommended for mystery buffs." CAROLINE WOODWARD, author of Light Years.
This fourth book in the series is a bit of a let down.
Four men are missing and Dan Connor and Walker are out to find them. They investigate on and off. Most of the book is about the evils of fish factories. I can certainly understand that point of view, but it takes more than complaining about them to make a good novel.
Another great mystery set on the west coast of BC. A good story moves fast enough and works in some issues with fish farming. Sadly a few typos in the book.
The Dan Connor series are great, well-written stories with excellent “real” characters who are easy to relate to. The author’s extensive research of west coast Canada’s first nations culture is very apparent in all of the four books that make up this series so far and the inclusion of this knowledge brings a cultural and environmental richness to each story. Her knowledge of boats and nautical jargon is also very evident and adds to the credibility of each story. Lastly, her choice of settings along BC’s beautiful west coast just makes me want to get back out there to continue exploring and enjoy its rich nature.
I enjoyed this book just as much as all three of the other books in the series, with just one criticism: the surprising number of typos, misprints, repeated words, etc--was there no editing at all done on this book before it was published? Yet despite these distractions the story moved along and kept the reader's interest. I hope Dan Connors continues to have more adventures along the BC coastline for many books to come (but with careful editing)!
As always from McMillen, a page-turner. Engrossing images of the coastal waters and reclusive clans of western Canada while Connor sets out to solve the mysterious disappearance of four men. A fine read!
