Karen Vaughan lives in Peterborough Ontario with her husband Jim and a cat named Sugar. She is the mom of a 23 year old daughter and four grown step children and a 3 year old grandson named Ike. DEAD COMIC STANDING is her second novel. Her first novel DEAD ON ARRIVAL garnered praise from friends, family and online gamers. She also enjoys doing crafts and other hobbies. Her third book and sequel to DEAD ON ARRIVAL is called OVER HER DEAD BODY. DAYTONA DEAD is the third in that series and was released in May 2013. Other than writing Karen loves to read, do crafts and play online games.Currently she co-hosts an internet radio show with Dellani Oakes and will be hosting WRITERS ROUND TABLE starting January the 14th. She has a quirky sense of humor and show this in her mysteries
There are few authors that have the knack to write a murder mystery that leaves one guessing until the final page but can add in sarcastic and witty humor like Ms. Vaughan does.
‘Dead to Writes: A Laura & Gerry Mystery’ book 7 is no exception. Ms. Vaughan carries the plot along without giving away the murderer, and yet her Laura (our corpse magnet) carries off the solving of the case with her own brand of sarcastic wit. I love these books and am always happy to find another.
Such is “Dead to Writes,” author Karen Vaughan’s No. 7 in the Laura & Gerry Mystery series. A case of life imitating art via death by hemlock, this mystery held my interest as I harbored my own suspicions, speculations, and second-guessing as to the murderer’s identity.
A separate murder mystery, a quirky Wiccan resident in Laura and Gerry’s building, and the minutiae of daily living outside crime solving, grounds this fast-paced crime fiction worth reading.
Laura Fritz is back along with the characters I have come to love from this author's other books in the series. This time, Laura meets a couple of authors.Natalie, Silvie and Terri were close friends and struggling to be authors. When tow of the women die mysteriously, Laura gets involved and the adventure to solve a mystery begins. Karen Vaughan writes no-frills stories with amazing and believable characters. Grabbing a book by this author is like sitting down with an old friend and having a chat. Here novels are twisted mysteries with a cozy appeal and not to be missed.
