Viruses mutate. Some mutations are worse than others.
Ebola, one of the most feared of the hemorrhagic diseases, begins spreading across the borders of countries in West Africa. Soon after, the disease mutates into the “Z” or Zombie Virus. Journalist Hunter Morgan uncovers a disturbing connection between Chen-Zamora Pharmaceuticals and this mutation. Further investigation reveals a web of sinister intrigue connecting the pharmaceutical company to a treatment and research camp in West Africa, U.S. government officials, the CDC and the World Health Organization. Racing against time to find a cure, Hunter and several scientists go underground in order to hide from powerful forces trying to silence them forever.

REVIEWS:
Book #1, Mutation Z: The Ebola Zombies:
“The plot sucked me in, as it was well done and believable. This take on the pandemic angle was well done, and an interesting to see a zombie outbreak from start. I have to say this kept me on the edge of my seat, and made me want to wash my hands repeatedly.” – Shandy Jo, Mama Knows Books
“I am VERY excited to hear that this novelette will be growing into a series! Especially because of the ending that leaves you with buggy eyes and an impressive jaw gape.” – Rebecca Engelmann, Sister Sinister Speaks blog
Book #2, Mutation Z: Closing the Borders:
“Ms Peake delivered an enthralling read...Ms Peake pulls you into the story and keeps you reading with lots of action and twists to keep you on your toes.” – Shandy Jo at Mama Knows Books
“This second book is as intense as the first one. And the addition of new characters and the spread of the disease build the suspense to a fever pitch.” – Laura, FUONLYKNEW Blog

Book #4, Mutation Z: Drones Overhead:
“Well, the author did it again. Kept me tearing through this episode, cringing, cheering, and hoping. Mutation Z is like zombie M&Ms. You can’t read just one and keep reaching for more.” – Laura, FUONLYKNEW Blog
“Mutation Z: Drones Overhead by Marilyn Peake is the fourth novella in this zombie series that had me feeling like upchucking one minute and kicking ass the next.” – Sherry Fundin, Blogger and Reviewer
Book #5, Mutation Z: Dragon in the Bunker:
“Zombie horror, big government, a little bit of science fiction, and some modern cyber twists. Too good to pass up.” – Laura, FUONLYKNEW Blog
“Journalist Hunter Morgan is a seriously messed up guy who has lost so much because of the Z virus, but he never gives up and I love that, because in this apocalyptic horror novella, all my conspiracy theories developed into full blown betrayal and treason showcasing an evil so potent that it makes me so angry I want to jump into my Kindle and beat the hell out of someone…or so much worse and with writing like that I say, ‘Well done, Marilyn,’ as we move on to a new beginning in Hunter’s life.” – Sherry Fundin, Blogger and Reviewer
Book #6, Mutation Z: Desperate Measures:
“I almost didn’t want to start this one as it’s the final book and I didn’t want it to end. / I wondered who would survive, if they’d find a cure, whether the world could be saved. I didn’t have a clue how all of my questions would be answered. / The author did a bang up job of doing just that.” – Laura, FUONLYKNEW Blog
“Marilyn Peake wraps up this novella series, exposing all the conspiracies and corruption, the perverted reasons for setting the zombies loose, and my juices were flowing as they pissed me off and sickened me beyond words, but left me with the faith that a…few good men/women can make all the difference in the world.” – Sherry Fundin, Blogger and Reviewer

Each novella is an important part of the whole in the Mutation Z series by Marilyn Peake. Her writing amazes me, bringing the characters and the world they created to life. The Zombie Virus was developed by some of the most evil men ever to walk this earth, all for their own gain and self interest. The brutality they dealt out as the blood and guts flew, the lives that were lost as the good people struggled to expose the conspiracy, is shocking. I felt this story rang of possibilities, that something like this could really happen. Maybe not exactly as written, but when push comes to shove, the elite will sacrifice anything and anyone to get what they want. If you want to be shocked, pissed off, saddened, frightened, left with food for thought, then Mutation Z is for you.
I first read this as individual novellas in the series. It was fun to finish one and make myself wait until the next night to read another. I did that for all six novellas, and when I finished them, I wanted more. Now I’ve read them all back to back in this omnibus and found them even more emotional.
It’s too often true that the monsters we need to fear the most are the human ones. Those with power and money want more power and money and don’t hesitate to unleash hell on the innocent to fulfill their own desires. What happens is wrong on so many levels. You’re put through the emotional wringer as characters struggle to survive and make sense of the end of their world.
Once the human monsters let loose the Z Virus, the zombies wreak havoc and blood and brains splatter throughout. Marilyn knows how to please her zombie fans.
I’m one of those zombie fans and ate this up!
I was gifted a copy of this book. My review is voluntarily given.
What a great series. I saw the initial idea of combining the fascinating Ebola virus with zombies and just had to read it. Similar initially to the feeling of the excellent Outbreak by Robin Cook, this quickly becomes a story all of its own. Incredibly strong characters, an ever darkening plot, and major corporate greed mixed with government conspiracy, all combine to keep you reading until the end. This is gruesome as much as it is dangerously close to reality in certain areas. These books will make you think as much as gross you out.
A fantastic series that I would recommend to fans of Zombies, Conspiracy Theories and anyone not afraid to challenge their way of thinking.
When greedy pharmaceutical manufacturers and politicians purposely start a pandemic of zombies while trying to create weponized zombies, it turns out to be a total disaster. But when they turn them loose on innocent citizens of not only enemies but innocent US citizens for political gain, it really gets nasty. Great writing, solid well-developed characters and storyline that is as full of twists and turns as the mountains road up Pike's Peak, where the famous Pike's Peak Hill Climb road race is run annually. Highly recommended🐩
These stories have a ripped from the headlines feel. When science and the military clash nothing good comes from it. Sectors in the government feel that this latest military weapon could be the answer to the over population of our planet and the answer to some of our climate change woes. It’s not - you can’t control a monster once it’s out of the bottle. Enjoy!
This series was amazing! I was hooked from the beginning. I had a few sleepless nights reading, as I could not put it down. The twists and characters are well built and keep you guessing. I couldn't predict anything that happened. I highly recommend this series to everyone!!!!!
How some of the wealthy don't do the world a favor
If you are deciding between the box set and just a single book, go for the box. Otherwise it will leave you hanging if you want to continue. There were many times that I thought, "This would never occur" or like that because there were areas that were left unexplained. I did read it all.
I really liked this book. Imagine if it was true that zombies plague infested the earth and only a few people were immune. A cure was found and given to the infected. Would people learn to get along and have peace on earth
Throughly enjoyed presents a different view of the Zombies just enough scientific facts to cause you to question if this could happen but heartwarming in following the characters who impact the story ready for a sequel
I have read ALOT of zombie books and these were different from the start. I loved the flow and how the author didn’t get bogged down in unnecessary science. The story line picks up pace quite quickly and I really enjoyed the ride!!!
This way a good zombie book with only a few weak parts. It start with a outbreak of Ebola and spins out to a world-wide conspiracy, which wasn't that far off in being possible. The weak areas was too much back story of the characters. Some of it seemed to be padding and did add to or advance the story.
So full of left wing political stereotypes and propaganda
Kept finding myself skimming over paragraphs hoping it would get better I thought I purchased a zombie novel but was very disappointed with the characters and story line becoming something boring and bland.
I thought this a really good book. Something like this could happen. I at first thought it was going to be boring, but far from it I enjoyed it and loved it that the ending didn't leave me With bits missing.
