Natalie Frazier might not be the most popular girl at Woodbridge High, but she’s definitely on the first rung. She’s also on her way to being class valedictorian and she just made prom court, so who knows? Maybe she’ll be able to add prom queen to her high school resume before she heads off to college.
Sam Patterson is the prototypical nerd. Glasses, talks about sci-fi shows and comic books with his friends, and runs debate and chess club. As the saying goes, if you looked up the definition of a nerd his picture would be there. And now he can add another checkmark to his high school biography: senior prom court joke vote.
When the prom court is announced, everyone knows who the joke votes are for the guys and the girls. And everyone knows the joke votes are always paired together. Except this year they’re not. Sam gets paired up with Natalie, much to both of their surprise. Now they have to survive one week as a prom court couple. That’s if they can survive each other.
Courting the Nerd is a Rumor Has It short story that takes place in the middle of True to You. It can be read as a stand-alone, but there are spoilers for what happens in True to You. If you don’t want spoilers, it is recommended you read True to You BEFORE reading Courting the Nerd.
RH Tucker writes cute & edgy YA romance, and drinks too much caffeine.
I’m a firm believer that Rocky Road is the absolute best flavor of ice cream in the world, although if I must, I will settle for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
I didn't expect to enjoy this book as it is very short but I liked the idea and wish if that was a full length novel this novella is set between the pages of the second book of the series and it was really fun to follow Natalie and Sam around they were fun
Short and adorable and I loved it! This is a great series...lots of empowered main characters, embracing who they are and bringing others along with them.
I've finally found it! A book with an actual nerd as the hero! Okay, so he's really good looking under all the nerd trappings, but he IS a real nerd. He's not afraid to be himself, he's smart, he likes chess and Marvel, he's refreshingly honest, and he's genuinely kind. YES! ;) Okay, with that out of the way ;), the book is written in a down-to-earth, genuine style that I really liked. There were awkward moments, "um"s, as well as meltingly cute moments, and it all seemed REAL and believable. Nothing forced, or happening "just because it's in a book." I knew - or hoped - how it would end, but the getting there was a fun, endearing ride. This is the first book I've read by RH Tucker, so I wasn't familiar with any of the characters previously, but they all seemed real - even the side characters (and even though it's a novella!). I've taken one star off as there is some moderate bad language (though a lot less than many high school books) and a few mentions of sex in passing, but it ends up going no further than kissing (and very swoony at that! ;) ). **LATER NOTE: A heads-up that after this review I started reading the subscriber-only book of this author and it contains a lot more cursing as well as a prominent lesbian character. At best I can say that books from this author may be quite varied.**
What a cute quick read! I'm a sucker for YA rom-coms, anyway, and I liked both Sam and Natalie - they make a cute couple.
Bonus points for references to The Princess Bride and She's All That. :)
I only wish not every nerd rom-com would compare the hero to Clark Kent (though that's a personal pet peeve of mine and does not otherwise detract from the story ;) ).
It was a cute book. Easy read. HEA. You have the nerds and the popular. The main guy nerd is ripped and handsome but for some reason, no one ever saw it before. Due to a prank, the popular girl is stuck with him and now they have to try to win to be on court. It was a fast read but predictible
This was a wonderful quick read that I enjoyed every second of. It was a different dynamic than what I usually read but I still loved it just as much! I definitely recommend it!
I have to say I wasn’t expecting to like this one so much. Especially after reading the first one of the series and it being merely okay. But it was a cute, short read that made me smile a lot through it all. A happy surprise
I love it when an author knows exactly what they are doing. This book never tries to be more than what it is. A cute, quick read.
Making fun of the clishé every turn without being too much is hard to achieve but it is done nicely here. We all know how the story will end just by reading the summary but that is not even the point, I think.
I didn't like the way that the characters "changed" as the story goes.
Super cute story about a semi popular girl who gets partnered up with a nerdy guy for Prom court. And while they have their differences, as they are stuck as partners, they end up getting to know that there is more to the other than meets the reputation.
I read this as a standalone and it was so cute and funny! I found myself laughing out loud at parts and Awwwing at other parts.
Sam is a really nice guy and I loved that he was always helping Natalie and cheering her on even though she is totally rude to him in the beginning. Sam is the type of guy I would totally go for: cute and nerdy. Well, I’m nerdy too, so there’s that.
I did hate whenever Sam second guessed any of the nice attention he was getting from Natalie. If I was Natalie, that would have freaked me out about him. He needs more confidence! But Natalie falls for his nice guy wonderfulness and sticks with him too.
I really want to read more of this author’s stories! This story was so cute and engaging, I imagine her other stories would be awesome too and I’m going to find out!

Love it even though it was short.... see Sam may have been a nerd, but eventually, Natalie fell for him. Idk how people think nerds are weird..., we are awesome; we are own people nerds have more fun; whereas popular people think they are better than the next or bully someone they think his less than them. I’m so glad that Natalie realizes that in the end, and wanted Sam for who he was and didn’t change him. Her friend Emily wasn’t a true friend either; that’s all I’m a say but. I loved when Natalie told Sam “to get rid of those stupid contacts and put his glasses back on” and “kiss me like that again, nerd” yasss I like them together (:
