The Web Designer's Client Handbook

Rate this book
Seldom has there been so great a need for a book such as The Web Designer's Client Handbook. Most people are expert in their own businesses but are clueless when it comes to transporting that business to the Internet. The average person knows nothing of the limitations of web technology or what constitutes good design. Often they do not even consider applying common business principles, such as branding, to their online presence. They often approach the web designer with vague ideas and unreasonable expectations. Web designers, on the other hand, often do a poor job of communicating to their clients why something the client wants is either technologically not feasible or esthetically undesirable from a design standpoint.

There are certain basic concepts that clients need to understand before engaging a web designer to build their website. Either the designer must educate the client or the client must go out on his own and educate himself. Often the designer is too busy or impatient to do so and clients have not had the resources available to them to learn. Until now.

The Web Designer's Client Handbook fills the gap between the designer and the client, providing the contextual background necessary for the client to understand both the limitations of web technology and certain elements and fundamental principles of website design. Web designers should stock up on copies of this handbook and give them out to every new or potential client. And anyone considering hiring a web designer to build her site should first read this short book from cover-to-cover!
