This is the second audiobook by Nancy Levin that I have listened to. I find it very cathartic to have listened to her read two books. Her self-love and self-discipline are palpable and a great thing to expose oneself to. Only one star knocked off for the section of forgiveness being too short and lacking the complexity of this very controversial semantics-prone topic. The book often felt less like reading a self-help book and more like reading the diary of an insightful, healing woman really doing the work. There were some really potent exercises and reminders concerning interdependence versus codependence, how relationships are a spiritual path of growth and not saviourism. This insight really helped me with my love addiction as I have framed it as: every relationship forces us to grow and teaches us lessons in ways we cannot predict, in ways we have to be respectful, self-loving, curious, and attentive to understand. No matter how deterministic we feel about a particular relationship, we miss the truth of its lessons and its role on our spiritual path by trying to make it something it is not. Levin used the imagery of find a way to move with the current of our lives and relationships and not against them. True intimacy is quality over quantity time. Our self love is always much more deeply lacking than we realize.

Yeah, I don’t know why I started listening to this audiobook. There are some insights into life and love, but the core message is that we need to love ourselves. This particular book seems a bit too wishy-washy hippie type of mentality, which I think is a great narrative for people who are truly lost, but I didn’t find too much solid information. A few bits here and there were good though, so I guess it’s decent at best.
