About the author

I should preface this review by saying I have worked as an English Language teacher in the UK and across Europe and have used earlier editions in the classroom over an extended period. Indeed the first observation I would make about it is that it has clearly been written by a teacher who has seen the problems students encounter when learning the language and the kind of clarity of explanations they need to solve them.

The whole range of basic grammar is covered here in this ebook English Grammar in Use Book with Answers from verb forms to the use of adjectives to pronouns and much, much more in a total of 145 units. The basic format has not changed at an all-a page of theory with clear explanations often using pictures followed by a page of controlled practice which reinforces the material learned in three or four different exercises. The exercise pages could be photocopied although now, unlike earlier editions, the pictures are color rather than black and white which makes them more attractive but could be an issue for a cheaper copier.
In addition to the 145 units of grammar, there is a very useful section in this ebook English Grammar in Use Book with Answers of diagnostic practice that allows you to complete multiple-choice questions to identify where you are making mistakes-you are then pointed to specific units for help with those particular areas. There are also additional practice exercises with answers plus sections on regular/irregular verbs and American English. The book is aimed at a B1/B2 Intermediate sort of level, but actually, much of this material could be used up to First Certificate Level in reality.
