Sorprendido para bien.
Es la primera vez que leo un libro de la superventas Estella Maskame. ¿Qué me estaba perdiendo? No sé si el resto de sus novelas son de este rollo -creo que no-, pero gracias a esta me han dado ganas de conocer más de la autora. Su estilo es sencillo, engancha y te hace conectar muy bien con los personajes porque son coherentes con sus sentimientos y acciones.
En Las dos caras de Kai tenemos una historia de venganza que comienza con la filtración de un vídeo sexual. El inicio está muy bien planteado. Normalmente en este tipo de novelas se me hacen un poco cuesta arriba los primeros capítulos, pero la manera de dosificar la información que tiene la autora lo hace todo súper sencillo y disfrutable.
El desarrollo de la trama principal está muy bien llevado. Toda la novela sucede en el espacio de una semana, por lo que el ritmo es -como podéis imaginar- bastante vertiginoso. Eso no quita que la historia tenga sus momentos de reflexión, páginas de la protagonista evaluando sus sentimientos o pequeños momentos de construcción de personajes secundarios que le dan a la novela un toque un poco más profundo de lo que parece a primera vista.
La relación de Kai y Vanessa es obviamente una de las mayores bazas de la novela, pero me ha gustado que no lo sea todo. La venganza sigue siendo lo más importante, y en ningún momento he sentido que se dejaban de lado otras tramas por el romance. Chapó, sinceramente, porque es raro que en este tipo de novelas eso suceda.
En cuanto nos vamos acercando hacia el final, sí que es verdad que el último capítulo... meh. Es lo típico de 'seis meses después' donde se explica qué pasa con cada personaje, y lamentablemente no me ha terminado de cuajar. Choca porque la autora durante todo el libro construye muy bien los personajes, y en esta especie de epílogo estos sufren cambios a los que les falta un poquito más de desarrollo. Pero vamos, nada grave tampoco, solo que he terminado la lectura de un modo un poco agridulce.
He comentado antes sobre el estilo de Estelle, ¡y es que es perfecto! Idóneo para este tipo de historias: sin pretensiones ni florituras, directo al grano pero parándose en cosas importantes, y construyendo una historia coherente con personajes coherentes. Además, la novela plantea dilemas morales más que interesantes, y he marcado bastantes frases que me han hecho reflexionar.
Personajes como Chyna o Maddie me han encantado y me hubiera gustado saber aún más sobre ellas. Kai es también la mezcla perfecta entre fuckboy-misterioso y gracioso-cariñoso que de una manera cliché siempre protagoniza los romances adolescentes de instituto, pero sorprendentemente está bastante bien llevado por la dicotomía que presenta con los otros secundarios masculinos como Noah, Anthony o Harrison.
En definitiva ha sido una lectura que he disfrutado un montón. Agradecido de que sea la primera del año porque ha tenido muchos de los elementos que busco en una novela. ¿Leeré más de la Maskame? Pues puede ser, let's see...

Bullying Virtual
Estamos na era do Chat, que — em português simples e claro — significa comunicação virtual. Como tudo na vida, esta forma de conversação, tem um lado bom e outro menos bom, onde “menos bom” funciona aqui como uma mitigação de mau.
O lado bom, todos os que aqui estão conhecem bem quanto mais não seja pelo facto de aqui estarem (o “aqui” refere-se obviamente não ao planeta Terra, mas sim a esta fabulosa aplicação social que dá pelo nome de GoodReads😉)
O lado “menos bom” acontece quando a conversação se torna ofensiva, ou... pior ainda... quando o bullying virtual entra em cena causando graves danos psicológicos. E é pois de bullying virtual (e não só) que este livro se ocupa:
Vanessa põe fim ao seu relacionamento com Harrison, e este vinga-se divulgando um vídeo onde constam cenas íntimas entre ambos. E é basicamente este acontecimento o catalisador de toda a intriga subsequente.
Na personagem de Vanessa sentimos os efeitos devastadores do bullying virtual. Porém, ela não é das que se encolhe num canto a chorar, e clama por vingança — vai à luta, e até cresce e amadurece no processo...
Confesso que tenho Estelle Maskame em muito boa conta. Ela funciona um pouco como a irmã sensata que qualquer jovem adulto agradeceria ter por perto numa crise mais incómoda! 😉 🌟🌟🌟🌟👍

Ich habe Estelle Maskame’s bekannte Buchreihe „Dark Love“ damals nicht gelesen, sondern bin erst bei ihrem letzten Roman „Falling“ auf den Geschmack der Autorin gekommen. Den Roman habe ich als sehr positive locker-leichte Liebesgeschichte in Erinnerung, weswegen ich direkt beschlossen habe auch „Lost Hearts: Wenn aus Liebe Rache wird“ zu lesen. Auch an dieses Werk wusste ich, dass es wahrscheinlich kein Jahreshighlight wird, mir jedoch erhofft ein paar schöne Lesestunden mit Vanessa & Kai zu verbringen. Allerdings hat mich das Endergebnis ziemlich enttäuscht...
Leider kann ich zu dem Buch nicht viel positives Sachen und gebe wirklich auch nur schwache 2 Sterne. Das einzig positive was ich herausheben kann ist Estelle Maskames Schreibstil, welcher für mich die Geschichte noch einigermaßen gerettet hat. Die Geschichte ist generell eher für jüngere Leser verfasst und man merkt beim Lesen auch, dass die Autorin selbst noch etwas jünger ist, allerdings gab das der Geschichte auch seine gewisse Leichtigkeit. Und obwohl ich echt einige Hoffnungen in die Prämisse der Handlung hatte, da diese echt vielversprechend und auch mal nach etwas anderem klang, muss ich gestehen, dass es leider gar nicht mein Fall war.
Vanessa ist ein 17-jähriges Mädchen, das dafür bekannt ist, dass sie zum Spaß mit Jungs rummacht und nicht auf der Suche nach einer ernsthaften Beziehung ist. Sie neckt und flirtet und schläft mit den Jungs, und beim ersten Anzeichen, dass es ernst wird, lässt sie sie fallen. Für jüngere Leserinnen, die vielleicht noch etwas naiver sind ist sie also kein wirkliches Vorbild. Aber natürlich rechtfertigt Vanessa das alles damit, dass sie über ihre tote Mutter spricht und darüber, wie ihr Vater vernachlässigt wird, und dass sie sich aufspielt, um Aufmerksamkeit zu bekommen und so weiter und so fort. In Ordnung, großartig. Ich würde ihr das sogar abkaufen und vielleicht sogar Sympathie dafür empfinden, außer... außer sie geht auf eine Party, betrinkt sich total, macht mit ihrem letzten Opfer rum und er beschließt, sie zu filmen, weil er natürlich ein ekelhafter Abschaum ist. Sie lässt ihn gewähren und zieht eine Show für ihn ab. Wir alle wissen, wohin das führt.
Jetzt ist Vanessa also auf Rache aus, und sie verbündet sich mit dem Neuen, Kai, um sich zu rächen. Kai hat seine eigenen Gründe, sich besonders an diesem Jungen rächen zu wollen. Die Sache ist die: Am selben Tag, nein, nein... dieselbe STUNDE... an dem dieses Video von Vanessa durchgesickert ist und alle sie beschämen und sie sich entblößt und gedemütigt fühlt, wirft sie einen Blick auf Kai und ihr erster Gedanke ist: "Oh mein Gott, er ist so heiß, ich hätte gern ein Stück von ihm"... oder etwas in der Art. Wie soll ich dieses Mädchen ernst nehmen?
Dann geht sie mit Kai auf diesen wilden Ritt, wo sie eine Menge Verbrechen begehen. Und nachdem sie all diese Verbrechen begangen haben, fangen sie an, sich ein "bisschen" schlecht zu fühlen. Und dann "verlieben" sie sich in einer Woche. In einer Woche. Dieses Mädchen, das nicht an Beziehungen glaubt und all diese Probleme hat, ist plötzlich in einen Typen verliebt, den sie erst ein paar Tage zuvor kennen gelernt hat, und sie will sich jetzt retten, weil sie ein neuer Mensch ist.
Mir tut es wirklich im Herzen weh, aber diese Kritik muss ich an dieser Stelle einfach mal äußern, weil die Charaktere für mich dadurch zu keinem Zeitpunkt sympathisch waren und mich das gehindert hat die Liebesgeschichte und auch die restliche Handlung an mich heranzulassen. Das einzig gute daran war, dass das Buch mit knapp 330 Seiten schnell ausgelesen war, auf der anderen Seite frage ich mich jedoch auch, wie man überhaupt eine Geschichte emit so wenig „Inhalt“ strecken kann. Alles in allem: Das Buch war für mich leider echt ein Flop.

Este é o quarto livro que leio da autora. Os outros que li dela fazem parte das minhas trilogias preferidas de todos os tempos.
Este não é uma trilogia mas teve grande impacto no mundo literário e em mim.
Neste livro conhecemos Vanessa. Vanessa não pretende relacionamentos sérios e, por essa razão, quando as coisas começam a parecer mais sérias nos seus “relacionamentos” ela por termo ao caso.
No entanto, as coisas não vão correr tão bem com Harrison. Quando ele decide aproximar-se mais dela intimamente, ela diz que não quer e acaba as coisas entre eles.
Mas Harrison não é como os outros e não lidou bem com o término. Decide então vingar-se. Publica um vídeo íntimo deles para que toda a escola veja.
Entramos assim num momento em que a vida de Vanessa segue outro rumo inesperado num misto de emoções.
Num desejo de vingança, Vanessa conhece Kai que a incentiva e promete ajudar para que se consiga vingar de Harrison. Juntos elaboram planos para se vingar do Harrison. Mas esta vingança para Kai também é pessoal.
Mas será que a vingança vale mesmo a pena? Será que as coisas são mesmo o que parecem ser? Até onde as pessoas são capazes de chegar?
Um livro que aborda as faces negras do bullying, da crueldade entre adolescentes, da vingança e do sofrimento individual. Um livro impactante.

An extremely important book for all ages to read. Covering many topics that are sometimes hard to read about. But also important to talk about too. Estelle managed to tackle these subjects in a very touching way and I enjoyed reading this book.

I did not like this book at all. A bunch of idiot teenagers making stupid mistakes and then going on to make bigger mistakes is not what I signed up for when I bought this book.
Vanessa is a 17 year old girl, known for hooking up with guys for fun, not looking for serious relationships. She teases and flirts and sleeps with the guys, and at the first sign of it getting serious, dumps them. Great role model she is. Of course she justifies all this by talking about her dead mom, and how her dad is neglectful, and she is acting out to get attention and so on and so forth.
Alright, great. I'd actually even buy that and perhaps sympathize with it, except...except she goes to a party, gets drunk out of her mind, hooks up with her latest victim and he decides to film her, because of course, he's a disgusting lowlife. She lets him, and puts on a show for him. We all know where this is going.
So now, Vanessa is out for revenge, and she partners up with the new kid, Kai, to get that revenge. Kai has his own reasons for wanting revenge against this boy in particular. Here's the thing though, the same day, no no...same HOUR...that this video of Vanessa is leaked and everyone is shaming her and she feels exposed and humiliated, she takes one look at Kai and her first thought is "oh my God he's so hot, I'd like a piece of him"...or something along those lines anyway. How am I supposed to take this girl seriously?
Then she goes on this wild ride with Kai where they commit a lot of crimes. And after they've committed all these crimes, they start to feel a "little" bad. And then they "fall in love" in a week. ONE week. This girl who doesn't believe in relationships and has all these issues is suddenly in love with a guy she's only met a few days earlier, and she wants to save herself now because hey...she's a new person.
Ridiculous.

Os puedo asegurar que es un libro genial. La historia transcurre a lo largo de una semana, que es un tiempo relativamente corto. Aún así la pluma de esta escritora engancha demasiado, como ya vi en la saga "You" hace varios años.
El contexto del libro ocurre, prácticamente, dentro de un instituto. Esto en un principio me podría parecer demasiado juvenil para mi gusto, pero la verdad es que me ha resultado de lo más entretenido.
Empatizo mucho con Vanessa, se encierra en sí misma después de la muerte de su madre y hace cosas de las que después se va a arrepentir. Entiendo que esté dolida por la ausencia de su padre después de todo lo ocurrido, ya que él no ha vuelto a ser el mismo desde entonces. Es una adolescente que ha tenido que buscarse la vida prácticamente ella sola.
Me ha parecido curioso que nadie se haya puesto de parte de Vanessa (exceptuando a Kai, Maddison y Chyna) y que todos la hayan visto como una guarra y sin embargo a Harrison no le ocurrió nada. Estas cosas pueden desencadenar en problemas graves como suicidios o traumas, así que la moraleja que saco de esta historia es que, por favor, mucho cuidadito con las cosas que enviamos porque el mundo con internet es muy peligroso y a veces no nos damos ni cuenta.
La historia de amor entre Kai y Nessie...simplemente espectacular. Es cierto que quizá me gustaría que su historia estuviese un poco más completa pero aún así...de verdad que es que como no acabasen juntos iba a llorar muchísimo.
Sin duda me quedo con un buen sabor de boca después de haberme leído este libro.💖
El contexto del libro ocurre, prácticamente, dentro de un instituto. Esto en un principio me podría parecer demasiado juvenil para mi gusto, pero la verdad es que me ha resultado de lo más entretenido.
Empatizo mucho con Vanessa, se encierra en sí misma después de la muerte de su madre y hace cosas de las que después se va a arrepentir. Entiendo que esté dolida por la ausencia de su padre después de todo lo ocurrido, ya que él no ha vuelto a ser el mismo desde entonces. Es una adolescente que ha tenido que buscarse la vida prácticamente ella sola.
Me ha parecido curioso que nadie se haya puesto de parte de Vanessa (exceptuando a Kai, Maddison y Chyna) y que todos la hayan visto como una guarra y sin embargo a Harrison no le ocurrió nada. Estas cosas pueden desencadenar en problemas graves como suicidios o traumas, así que la moraleja que saco de esta historia es que, por favor, mucho cuidadito con las cosas que enviamos porque el mundo con internet es muy peligroso y a veces no nos damos ni cuenta.
La historia de amor entre Kai y Nessie...simplemente espectacular. Es cierto que quizá me gustaría que su historia estuviese un poco más completa pero aún así...de verdad que es que como no acabasen juntos iba a llorar muchísimo.
Sin duda me quedo con un buen sabor de boca después de haberme leído este libro.💖

Not as good as DIMILY, or JDMI but still so good. If I had one flaw it was that I wish Estelle had written deeper about the family aspect. I wish the parent storyline could’ve been fleshed out more and then it would of made Vanessa’s pain of not wanting to get close to anyone more painful. (but good!)

This book was so good! I didn’t read the synopsis so I didn’t really know what to expect, but it’s definitely not a lighthearted contemporary. Maybe I would’ve liked the ending to be a bit more elaborate with regards to Noah, but the ending is also good as it is. Furthermore, Vanessa had a lot of character growth. There were quite some things that annoyed me in the beginning, but she realized the things she was doing wrong and tried to improve it.

Empecé este libro escuchándolo con la aplicación audible pero me pasé a físico porque necesitaba ir más rápido.
Ha sido un libro entretenido y me ha gustado como Vanessa se toma la venganza contra Harrison... al que he odiado junto a sus amiguitos. Pero creo que la novela podría haber estado mejor... esperaba algo más intenso.

A really good YA contemporary that although in high school, didnt feel too young!
The storyline was really good and I grew to love Vanessa and wanted the best for her. Also Kai was just the cutest. I would love there to be a book about Chyna now she had left for College as I think her character has a lot of potential.

Da ich die Dark Love Reihe letztes Jahr gelesen und geliebt habe, konnte ich es kaum erwarten das neue Buch der Autorin zu lesen.
Der Schreibstil hat mir wieder richtig gut gefallen, denn er war locker und leicht, wodurch dieses typische Wattpad Feeling vermittelt wurde.
Mit Vanessa bin ich zu Anfang nicht richtig warm geworden, denn sie war arrogant und oberflächlich und nicht besonders sympathisch. Deshalb war ihre Charakterentwicklung umso beeindruckender, sie ist aus sich heraus gewachsen und reifer geworden. Sie hat ihre Fehlern eingesehen und aus diesen gelernt. In Kai habe ich mich sofort verliebt, er war so süß und charmant und dazu noch ehrlich und witzig, also alles was man sich bei einem Bookboyfriend nur wünschen kann.
Auch die Nebencharaktere waren authentisch und vielschichtig und waren dadurch greifbar.
Die Freundschaft zwischen Vanessa und Chyna war bezaubernd, es war schön, eine gesunde und glückliche Freundschaft zwischen diesen beiden Charakteren in einem YA Buch zu sehen.
Zudem wurde Vanessas fragile Beziehung zu ihrem Vater äußerst realistisch und verständlich dargestellt.
Durch ebendiese waren ihre Motive und die daraus folgenden Handlungen in gewisser weise nachvollziehbar, so falsch sie auch waren. In diesem Buch wurde die Toleranz und Empathie auf die Probe gestellt, denn Vanessa hat viel moralisch verwerfliches getan um die Aufmerksamkeit und Unterstützung ihres Vaters zu erlangen. Zudem waren in der Geschichte viel Drama und viele Klischees enthalten, was mich jedoch nicht gestört hat, denn es hat zu der Handlung gepasst.
Es ist ein Buch, das eine Reihe von Themen behandelt, darunter Trauer und Sexismus. Die Art wie diese dargestellt und hervorgehoben wurden, fand ich wirklich toll.
Das Tempo dieses Buches war perfekt und die Beziehung zwischen Kai und Vanessa hat sich sehr realistisch entwickelt.
Außerdem hat mir die Message hinter dem Buch richtig gut gefallen, denn aus Fehlern lernt man und Rache ist nicht die Lösung aller Probleme. Die Tatsache, dass jede Handlung Konsequenzen mit sich bringt wurde hier gut dargestellt.
Alles in allem war es ein humorvolles und romantisches Buch und ich kann es jedem YA Liebhaber nur empfehlen!

Es la primera vez que leo algo de Estelle Maskame y eso que tengo la saga “You” pendiente, pero bueno, este libro lo he leído en el momento perfecto así que no puedo estar más contenta. Porque aun que no es el mejor libro del mundo ni me ha dejado marcada, sí que ha cumplido con su función a las mil maravillas y me ha dado unas buenas horas de lecturas de entretenidas y sin complicaciones.
Es un libro juvenil muy sencillito y apañado tiene sus buenas dosis de instituto, cotilleos, venganza y un chico y una chica que según se van conociendo van sintiendo cositas. Lo bueno es que detrás de todo esto está las consecuencias de las redes sociales cuando se usan mal, los conflictos internos que sufren los personajes, la moralidad gris y por supuesto el juego que da la venganza, así que salseo hay a manos llenas y resulta muy interesante los límites y los actos de venganza.
El lenguaje es simple, ligero, sin grandes florituras y directo, lo que resulta una maravilla porque consigue que el libro se devore en unas cuantas horas y te enganches cosa mala. Los personajes están muy bien construidos, tienen sus capas, sus problemas y la autora se mete muy bien en sus cabezas para que comprendamos lo que sienten en cada momento.
“Las dos caras de Kai” es una novela juvenil muy adictiva y entretenida.

She doesn't do relationships, and is very sex positive, but having her private images leaked is a betrayal, and when Kai appears, and seems to have his own vendetta against Harrison, Vanessa is ready to team up. But as the stakes hot up, and their petty actions turn into real crimes, will Vanessa regret meeting Kai?
I've read most of Estelle's books now, and though I enjoyed The Wrong Side of Kai, it definitely was not my favourite of hers. Vanessa was quite an immature character at times. She lost her mother when she was younger, and her father is absent most of the time, so she seeks out attention in different ways, including with finding a new partner regularly. She's very body positive and confident, but I felt like there were definite times in the book when she acted very young, and made easily resolved mistakes. I did like the chemistry between her and Kai, but think it should've been less of an instant attraction, and taken a little longer for them to fall for one another. This definitely isn't a lighthearted book though. It covers very important and hard hitting topics, particularly around slut shaming, online harassment, and grief, and I think it would be a great read for anyone.

Un libro sencillo que, apela al mero entretenimiento de un lector que se ve arrastrado por un ritmo ágil y una trama sin complejidades. Su historia, encaja bien en una literatura juvenil básica y tradicional, que no apuesta por nuevas fórmulas y se envuelve en viejos tópicos.

I've read this author's DIMILY series and I enjoyed that series, so I was excited to read more from her! I knew about this book releasing and I was looking forward to reading it! I then received an email from the publisher asking if I'd like to be on the Blog Tour and I instantly said yes! I started an ARC as soon as I received it, and after reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book! The plot took me about three sittings to read and I found that it developed at the perfect pace and it kept me wanting to read on! The plot also have a revenge theme to it, which added a lot to it and helped the plot develop! There was also some romance in the plot between the main character and her love interest! I loved the way the romance developed and that it was slow to develop! I liked that the author did that because I felt like the romance couldn't be rushed! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Vanessa was the main character, and in this book she went through a horrible situation that had a big impact on her! I did feel for Vanessa because her trust was violated and she did feel betrayed by someone she thought she could trust! Vanessa then wanted revenge in this book and I do think she took things a bit too far! She did feel guily though, which told me a lot about the kind of person she was! Kai was the love interest of Vanessa! I loved Kai a lot in this book and he was there for Vanessa and helped her a lot! Kai was also very chilled out and he was an intrguing character! Kai also had his own reasons for wanting revenge in this book and it did make more sense after his reasons were revealed! It explained Kai's anger and why his trust had also been betrayed! I did feel for Kai because of what he went through, but it did lead him to Vanessa! This book was only written from Vanessa's point of view! I wasn't sure if it was going to be after I read the synopsis, but it does make it sound more like it's only going to be written from one point of view! I loved this book only being written through Vanessa's eyes and I didn't feel like any chapters had to be written from Kai's point of view! I mean, I wouldn't have minded to have gotten inside his head, but I felt like I got to know a lot about him anyway! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! The plot was wrapped up and all the questions raised were answered! I would love to have read more on Vanessa and Kai, but the ending of this book was left at the perfect place for them! I've also read all of this author's books apart from her other standalone book, so I'm definitely going to read that one soon and I can't wait to see what this author is going to release next! The cover for this book also suits the book perfectly! I love it a lot and It would definitely draw me to the book if I didn't already know the author's name! This is the best Estelle Maskame book yet and, yes, I'm including Just Don't Mention It in that.
The Wrong Side of Kai is a super fun, fast paced book that touches on a number of topics including grief and sexism. Vanessa and Kai are two of my favourite characters I've read in a long time and I love their relationship. The friendship between Vanessa and Chyna is also adorable and it was nice to see a healthy, happy friendship between these two characters in a YA contemporary.
The pacing of this book was perfect and I loved the antics Vanessa and Kai got up to and I really appreciated the fact that there were consequences to actions in this book - no farfetched parenting ands so on.
All in all, this was just such a fun book and I wish I could go back a couple days and start it again!

3'5⭐ Un libro bastante predecible pero que engancha desde la primera página.
Es muy entretenido y divertido.
Me ha gustado mucho la personalidad de los dos protagonistas, aunque como es un libro cortito le falta un poco más de desarrollo.
Pero en general lo recomiendo ☺️

Este livro foi a minha estreia com a autora, embora já tivesse ouvido falar da trilogia “Já disse que te amo?” porém a mesma não me chamou à atenção porque achei que fosse demasiado infantil para mim.
Quando vi que a @editorial_presenca tinha publicado este livro e também devido à review da @booksohmy__ fiquei curiosa.
𝚂𝚒𝚗𝚘𝚙𝚜𝚎: Esta história fala-nos da Vanessa, uma rapariga que não acredita em relacionamentos sérios. Quando decide terminar a sua relação com Harrison, este fica bastante chateado e decide partilhar um vídeo íntimo entre os seus amigos. Com a ajuda de Kai, um novo aluno, misterioso e sedutor, Vanessa decide pôr em prática um plano de vingança contra Harrison.
A premissa da história ao início é bastante interessante, por ser um livro young adult e nos falar sobre traição e mágoa. Mas a meio do livro apercebi-me que o conteúdo do livro estava a enfraquecer e não passava muito dali. Confesso que tive de passar algumas páginas à frente porque a história não andava.
Embora eu não tenha achado o livro nada de especial e diferente, acho que a história é ainda assim cativante para um público mais jovem e que goste deste género.

I really this book. It's the first by this author and I was not disapointed. God, I felt for Vanessa, having a sex tape of you leaked without your consent, that's horrible, that is not okay, I was all in with her revenge plan. Guys thing they can get away with anything and that'a not fair. What they did, that's distribuing child pornography (and no, I am not being dramatic), I was so wished she had gone to the police but alas it is what it is. I liked Kai, he was there for her, he never thought bad of her, never, he stayed with her and that's what's important. I loved them together, the push and pull was real, the tension was there and their banter was awesome. Vanessa was hella strong for standing up for herself, many of us can't, given the circunstances it's not an easy thing to do

Ha sido una lectura entretenida y de esas que te hacen estar amorrada al libro durante horas. Esta autora sabe cómo atraparte y eso me encanta porque mi finalidad cuando cojo un libro es sentirme atrapada y dejar de pensar en el día a día.
La idea de fondo de este libro es muy interesante. El acoso, las malas decisiones, cómo algo como un vídeo puede cambiar la vida de una persona y el diferente rasero con el que se mide a hombres y mujeres en según qué situaciones. Esa parte está muy bien tratada y me ha gustado mucho.
Kai me ha gustado, cómo se enfrenta a las situaciones y su forma de mostrar los sentimientos. Es un chico increíble y he empatizado mucho con él. Es tierno, fiel, divertido, positivo...
Vanesa también me ha gustado, pero a la vez ha habido algunos pensamientos que no me han acabado de cuajar. Pero es una chica a quien me ha gustado conocer.
Mi gran pero de esta novela es el tiempo. Entiendo que se puedan enamorar a primera vista, esto me parece creíble, pero no que Vanesa cambie en siete días, que consiga cambiar de idea acerca de muchas cosas enseguida, que se enfrente a los traumas con esa rapidez, como si siete días bastaran para dar ese giro. Eso me ha restado puntos porque no ha acabado de convencerme. Además, Estelle nos hace partícipes una y otra vez de lo que ha supuesto el vídeo, con las mismas palabras en diversos párrafos. Pero le ha faltado esa parte de sentimiento, de ver cómo los personajes evolucionan.
Sin embargo, en conjunto es una buena lectura, se devora con rapidez y te deja un buen gusto.

Llevaba buscando este libro por todos lados y cuando por fin lo vi en una librería, fue como: Es ahora o nunca. Bueno, con eso se podrán imaginar todo el hype que tenía por el libro. A ver, en mi alocada imaginación la historia iría algo así como una persona (Kai) con transtorno de personalidad múltiple... No sé de donde rayos saqué eso, creo que fue lo que me dió a entender la portada y el título,porque obviamente toda persona normal no se fija primero en la sinopsis daahh... Bueno, así que cuando lo leí y me encontré más con algo romántico quedé, gente... QUEDÉ 🤡. En fin, fue un buen libro pero no más que eso... Sorry not sory
DETALLES:
☂ Trama: Interesante y atrayente. Me encanta como se va desarrollando, además que tiene de trasfondo la relación de Nessie con su padre(que por cierto, me dejó conmovida; pero bueno a mí me conmueve hasta cuando veo leche derramada) y también otras cosillas que ya estarán enterándose cuando lo lean.
☂ Personajes: Vanessa(Nessie para los amigos) y Kai. Me encantaron ambos; en especial Nessie, me encantó conocerla... más allá de sus problemas en la escuela sino también a su relación como familia y la fortaleza que demuestra siempre... Obviamente ambos cometieron sus errorcitos (lo de la venganza, por ejemplo... pero, ¿quiénes somos nosotros para juzgar?); pero creo que son "justificables" (es broma gente, no sean rencorosos... o al menos, intentémoslo).
☂ Final: Me gustó... aunque esperaba más salseo la verdad(en esta cuenta amamos el salseo) Me gusta. por ejemplo, como terminó lo de la venganza (bueno si ya lo han leído, no). En fin, buen final.

Llevaba buscando este libro por todos lados y cuando por fin lo vi en una librería, fue como: Es ahora o nunca. Bueno, con eso se podrán imaginar todo el hype que tenía por el libro. Lo he disfrutado mucho, tanto la forma en la que escribe la autora como a los personajes. Además, me lo he bebido en un día.
El único pero que le pongo es como se ha desarrollado la historia del video. Trata un tema muy serio y creo que no se le ha dado la profundidad que en realidad tiene.

Aww I loved this book. It was so cute. I wasn't really sure what I was getting when I first started reading it, but it was a light, fast and funny read, and I really enjoyed it.
I liked how serious issues were also discussed, like the death of a loved one and the aftermath.
I also liked the dynamic between Vanessa and Kai. They could not have made for a better duo.
It was honestly a refreshing read, because I feel like everything has already been done in high school books, but this one approached it in a different way, and I appreciated that.

J’ai trouvé ce roman vraiment sympathique, les personnages principaux était vraiment intéressant.
Je suis choqué que de nos jours encore les hommes sont limite applaudis quand ils sont des hommes à femmes mais que les femmes sont jugées et qu’on leurs crachent limite dessus quand elles ont des relations sans attaches..Ne jugez pas les femmes sur ce point si vous vous attendez à être applaudis pour la même chose (et encore malheureusement beaucoup de femmes jugent également..) ...c’est comme le fait que Vanessa soit humilié, juger et mis de côté vis à vis de la vidéo (sans compter des risques vis a vis de son avenir personnel et professionnel), alors que pas une seul personne fait une remarque au gars qui a diffusé la vidéo (on ne sait que plus tard que ce n’est pas lui mais au final, il a donné la vidéo à ses amis donc sa reste pas pardonnable), que ce soit qu’il a diffusé la vidéo ou qu’il soit lui-même dans la vidéo...pas une seule personne ne le juge...
J’aime beaucoup la morale de ce roman sur le fait que la vengeance appelle la vengeance et que plus on y entre et plus on s’y enfonce. Personnellement j’aurait directement chercher à porter plainte (même si je ne juge pas Vanessa), mais j’imagine qu’elle et Kai n’aurait pas été aussi proche...je ne sais même pas si ils auraient été amis tout court car leur amitié (voir relation plus tard) à commencer vis a vis de la vengeance.
J’ai apprécié les personnages tel que Kai, Vanessa ainsi que sa petite soeur et sa meilleure amie. Je suis contente que le père se rende compte de ses erreurs à la fin (même si on réagit tous différemment au deuil). J’ai particulièrement trouvé le couple de Kai et Vanessa adorable.
Je ne sais pas si c’est moi qui lis trop de thriller, mais jusqu’au bout j’étais persuadé que Kai cachait un truc surtout quand il cachait la raison sur le fait de sa vengeance, mais au final, c’était plutôt basique sa raison.
J’ai bien apprécié cette lecture mais il manquait un je ne sais quoi pour en faire un coup de coeur sans compter que cette fin ouverte me stresse un peu car j’aime bien finir un livre avec les choses explicites sur ce que deviennent les personnages. Hors ici c’est pas le cas, j’imagine que je vais essayer d’imaginer que ce que voulait Kai avec son ex va se passer ici et qu’il finira heureux avec Vanessa (qu’ils réalisent leurs rêves également), que la meilleure amie de Vanessa (dont j’ai oublié le nom) réalisera ses rêves, et que le père continuera ses efforts avec ses filles et trouvera aussi le bonheur (pas forcément en couple).
