Harmony Pointe #1

Call Her Mine

Rate this book
Two besties and a baby make for an instafamily and a surprising romance in a delightful series by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of the Sugar Lake novels.

Ben Dalton has always been honest, except where his heart is concerned. He’s been in love with his best friend—saucy, smart-mouthed Aurelia Stark—forever. But Ben’s a planner, and timing has never been on his side. When he finally decides to make his move, Aurelia beats him to the punch with a move of her own—to a different town.

Aurelia loves her new life in the charming town of Harmony Pointe. She has a great apartment and her very own bookstore, and best of all, the sinfully hot, commitment-phobic friend she’s crushed on for years is no longer just around the corner. Maybe she’ll finally be able to leave her unrequited love behind and move on.

But when a baby is left on Ben’s front porch—a baby that is presumably his—Aurelia is there for him. Neither one knows the first thing about babies, but how hard can it be? Ben and Aurelia are catapulted into a world of love, laughter, and tracking down the baby mama, and it might even add up to a very happily ever after… just not one either of them expects.

So this book today is number 7 of best selling books!!! 14.08.19, how is it possible??

No ranting. Dnf
Friends to lovers...hmmm. as always he was fucking everything that moves while pinning after"his soulmate". Every time she was on date he went to fuck some faceless woman
Now he got a baby from one of his ONS on his doorstep. And together they went through his hookups to calculate which baby it is ... While he is so jealous when some man helps her...
Sorry, you are coward and piece of shit. Don't have enough time in my life for this kind of crap!
He was ashamed he didnt know who could be this baby's mother, he didnt want his 3 sisters knew about this... But he didnt seem too ashamed his "soulmate" kneww.... He was joking, telling his "best friend(this woman": "that yoga-girl was very flexible,,, that layer woman was strong and had a good tits... this Barbi girl was sexy..."...

And the heroine was just silly woman- she had a huge crush from childhood on this piece of sh*t. they watched movies together and then they slept together (not in sexual way). I mean o dont cozy up and sleep with my man friends, ... He calls her every time for some time together and she goes flying!!! NO! And she was turned on with this tiny baby on his arms... NO!!! For me its no turn on!!!
Authors, please! Write about romance, about faithful people, about good people! We have this kind of sh*t on news and in real life a lot!!!

He, she, baby bottle and Baby B...A twist on the trope of a handsome but slightly wild single man with a homely best friend ready to come to his rescue when a baby girl arrives on his doorstep in a basket with a note. Mostly the book follows the trope, although a few things are different...

First of all, I wouldn't call Ben Dalton a playboy. Yes, he is a successful (read: rich) businessman, but it all came from a ridiculous amount of hard work and sound planning. I loved the way Ben's father commented on his personality: "Oh, Ben. You've spent your entire life strategizing. You did it as a kid in every endeavour, from baseball to freaking Halloween. I remember you mapping out the streets, figuring out the quickest routes to cover the most houses and make sure you didn't miss the ones that gave out the best candy." Ben has been in love with his best friend Aurelia for years, fearing he has been friendzoned, secretly taking dancing lessons and hoping that when the right moment arrives he'll make his move. An old adage says, you are what you do with your free time. Aurelia spends all her free time with Ben, listening to him, wathcing movies, cooking for him, going to parties with him, spending nights on his sofa and the list goes on. Are you surprised their friends and relatives have been treating them as an old married couple? Aurelia decides to buy a book store and move to a town nearby, and Ben is finally ready to profess his undying love when.Baby B makes her appearance in a basket in front of Ben's luxurious bachelor pad.

The trope wants you to keep guessing if the baby is his or not his. The story isn't usually about the baby, but about how the playboy in question becomes an adorably cute and clueless Dad which totally makes the girl swoon. 'Call her mine' is about insta-parenthood rather than the two besties finally taking their relationship to the next level. Ben's tirade on why there are never any changing tables in men's bathrooms is hilarious and shows perfectly well how seriously he's taken to the task of becoming the best father possible. What about Relsy.?...well. she, kind of, disappears from everybody's focus, exhausted by midnight feedings and working on opening her new business. Luckily, Ben's parents and sisters are only willing to give the brand-new parents a hand, while Ben is busy trying to locate the irresponsible mother.

This light-hearted, fun book is essentially family-focused (despite a few very hot and steamy romantic scenes). I might have enjoyed it more if it were slightly shorter. The ending was a bit melodramatic, but, ultimately, you do want a happy ever after for Baby Bea and this one brought everything to conclusion.

This was my first book by this author and now that I have met the Daltons brood, I would like to read the previous books about Ben's sisters as well as any future ones in the Harmony Pointe series. Am I right in guessing that one of them will be about a sexy single doctor? Only Melissa Foster and time can answer, but I'll be looking forward to whatever she writes.

Ben and Aurelia have loved each other for years... they just didn't know it. Stuck in unrequited love limbo, Aurelia decides to jump on the chance to start over - new town, new place, new business venture, new life. Right? Ben doesn't want to lose his best friend, the only woman he's ever loved, so he finds excuses to get her to stay. What happens when the biggest reason of all literally finds its way to his door?

I always know when I read a book from Melissa Foster that the story will be epic and she did not let me down. Call Her Mine had easy to love characters, a spicy coming together moment, little to no drama, warm family and friends interactions, and so much love that I just wanted to hug and squeeze the book in my hands forever. I felt for Ben and his situation. Trying to distance himself from Aurelia and the hopelessness he felt in getting his happily ever after, he tended to get involved in one night stands. No muss, no fuss. At least, that's what he thought until one such encounter created a blessing that not only taught him about a different type of love, but brought him the woman he always wanted. I admired Aurelia for her strength in standing by his side. I felt conflicted because on one hand, it was hurtful that he had created a life with someone else. But on the other, he was wholly devoted to her and building a life and future with her.

While this was most definitely a friends-to-lovers romance, and there were plenty of romantic and swoon-worthy moments to be found, it was also about the baby and how these two characters had to change and adapt for this huge change in their lives. Neither of them were prepared to welcome a baby, especially since they were just starting to navigate their way through new coupledom. But I feel like the author pulled off this complicated story with her usual finesse and it was impossible to not fall in love with everyone and their moments. I loved having this visit with the Daltons (seriously, aren't they just the best family?) and I'm looking forward to more of these people. Will Fletcher ever find his match? What about Piper? And with the amount of times I've seen Jared Stone, does he have a story? I'm staying tuned...

DNF at 6%. The way this book starts out made me absolutely livid! This woman has been in love with her best friend forever, and she wakes up with him, rubbing his morning wood all over her and clutching her boob. But we get to hear that he is actually a man whore and she’s having a hard time because she doesn’t want to tell him how she feels. Then we start getting his perspective and he is in love with her as well. Now, I want to think that maybe he’s not a manwhore and there’s a good reason for them not to say something to each other.

But before we can get too far, there is a baby on his doorstep. His reaction of calling the baby an “it” even after he has been corrected made me want to hit him! Add to that, he could’ve had a baby because he DOES have random hook ups. So this guy supposedly is in love with his best friend, but doesn’t have the guts to actually tell her and in the meantime, he’s hooking up with every woman under the sun! I cannot continue reading this book, or I will reach through the fiction pages and punch his face.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first installment for the Harmony Pointe series and you will recognize some characters from the Sugar Lake series, and if you are a fan, this story will not disappoint.

Ben and Aurelia have been best friends since they were teenagers and their feelings had grown but they never acted on them as each assumed the other would not feel the same way. Their feelings are tested when Ben discovers a baby on his doorstep with a note affirming that he is the father. He has no idea how to raise a baby and he solicits Aurelia's help. They soon realize as they care for the baby that they need to tell each other how they truly feel and take a leap. To their surprise, the feeling is mutual. Their relationship flourishes and then they are tested again when an unexpected visitor arrives.

I won't give away any spoilers, but I can say that this was an easy, breezy, fun read and it put a smile on my face.

They have been best friends, having feelings for each other but of course they have been with other people not to ruin their friendship...

She goes on a date, he goes and has sex with a nameless woman... Cliché!

Years pass and one day, someone drops a baby at his door step and he needs his bestie's help to find the baby mama!

Awesome - how romantic! And she goes all mushy watching him with this baby and of course helps him to go through all these women he had sex with! Atta girl, you seem to deserve this crappy guy!

***

I hate friends-to-lovers trope because it's always the same thing. They pine for each other but they hide their feelings because their friendship is always more important than their feelings... So stay as friends, idiots, why bother later?

If you really love someone, you can't go and date others. No matter what, you want to be with that person... no matter what the risks are, you take those risks! Otherwise, don't talk about love at all, not to me at least!!!

Here is a very helpful review:

What a fun, sexy, sometimes angsty to the point of tears, wildly romantic friends to lovers story!

description

Ben and Aurelia have been friends forever. They both want more than friendship but neither knows how the other feels. Ben has wanted to make his move but the timing has always been off. Now, Aurelia has moved to another town and is ready to “start over” and it’s driving him insane. When a baby is left at his front door, she steps in to help and he’s using the unlucky timing to his advantage.

Aurelia has a hard time facing the fact that Ben has a baby by another woman, a one night stand who he doesn’t even know her last name. But as she helps him with Baby B, she finds herself falling in love with the baby girl and opening herself up to a possibility of more with Ben.

Even if I had a bit of a problem with Ben using other women to get through not having Aurelia, I loved everything else about him. His reactions to the baby and then his poppa-bear protective instincts were hilarious and sweet. Add in a naked chest and a sweet baby girl on that chest and my ovaries were exploding. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a better single-dad hero than Ben. He was completely swoon worthy and when he and Aurelia finally have their talk, he became that hero that melts hearts everywhere.

description

Aurelia claimed my heart as well when she accepted that sweet innocent baby and was able to let Ben’s past go. However, she did have some adjustments to make, not realizing she was dealing with the same issues every new mother must go through. Secondary characters were awesome in helping her and Ben both learn to adapt.

This is a relatively low angst read until near the end when things take a very emotional turn. I found myself choking back tears, my heart wrecked. If you enjoy stories with a plethora of friends and family, this one is definitely one to pick up. The epilogue is just a quick look into the future, but satisfying. This would have been a solid five star read had Ben not made past decisions that he made – but that’s totally my own preference and not being aware of it going into the book made it harder to deal with.

Overall, this is a fun, flirty, family and friend filled story with tons of swoony dad/baby girl moments and plenty of laughter and sexy times.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Montlake Romance. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve heard such good things about Melissa Foster’s books, so I was excited to read Call Her Mine. Two of my favorite tropes—friends to lovers and single dad—in one book! Unfortunately, Ben is also a billionaire—my least favorite trope. But that’s okay—two out of three isn’t bad, right? I certainly won’t say this book is bad, but it didn’t work for me. Aurelia and Ben are both intelligent, successful (billionaire!) people who have been best friends and secretly in love with each other for ages. Well, it’s a secret to Ben and Aurelia, everyone else in their lives knows exactly how they feel about each other. Which brings us to my biggest issue with this story—lack of communication and misunderstandings. For me, this is just a contrived obstacle and I like it even less than I do billionaires. Add in their complete cluelessness and ineptitude with the baby left on Ben’s doorstep, as well as their insistence that only they can take care of Baby B, 24/7, even though Ben is a billionaire working on the biggest deal of his career and Aurelia is in the process of opening a bookstore, and I just had no patience for them. They were cute with the baby, and both fell hard and fast for her, but I didn’t understand why they didn’t ask for help or read a book. As a plot device to create an issue/obstacle for them, it just didn’t work for me. Aurelia was raised in a bookstore, worked in a bookstore, and was opening her own bookstore—why not consult a baby book? There are also other children in the family, so I had a hard time believing they were this clueless. I had a few other issues with the book, mostly small details that didn’t make sense or ring true. Half of their small town knows about the baby, but Ben is keeping her a secret from his parents. While I thought they made some questionable choices, I liked both Ben and Aurelia well enough to hope they would get their act together and confess their love for each other. Unfortunately, doing so lead to some of the most cringe-worthy sex talk I’ve ever read. I had to stop reading the sexy passages because Ben’s sexy talk was anything but sexy. This is the first book in a spin-off series, so fans of that series and Ms. Foster’s other books may enjoy seeing these characters finally get their book (that’s my impression-they’ve been secondary characters in other books, but I could be wrong), but it didn’t work for me.

Cute. It is cute. Call Her Mine is absolutely cute. But not hit all the right spot with me. I am not a fan of secret baby either.

I tried to like Miss Foster writing style. I really am trying. But it seems I hit the roof with this book. The banter is cute and sweet though.

CALL HER MINE (Harmony Pointe Book One) by Melissa Foster is a new friends-to-lovers contemporary romance with a secret baby, too. I have never been disappointed in a romance written by this author and this book was no exception.

Ben Dalton is an extremely successful businessman, but when it comes to his love life, he just never seems to get the timing right to get the girl he loves. It seems he has loved his sisters’ friend, Aurelia forever, but the planner in him has never found just the right time to tell her. Just as Ben decides to make the big move, Aurelia beats him to the punch by literally moving to the next town.

Aurelia Stark has decided to turn the page and start a new chapter in her life. She has moved to Harmony Pointe to open her new bookstore “Once Upon a Time”. She has a great apartment above the store and she is hopefully just far enough away to avoid constantly running into her commitment-phobic, unrequited love and best-friend, Ben.

Aurelia cannot believe she gave in and spent the night, as “friends”, at Ben’s once again. As she goes to leave, she opens the door and finds a baby on the porch. The attached note says it is Ben’s baby. Aurelia is there for Ben, though neither knows the first thing about the care of babies. What follows is a journey into nighttime feedings, lack of sleep, learning, laughter and love.

I am once again in love with a Melissa Foster romance. Ben, Aurelia and baby Bea feel like more than just characters in a book. I feel as if I should be able to meet them in Harmony Pointe. The laughter, tears, fears and love are all realistically portrayed in the dialogue and each characters actions. Ben is uber sexy and lovable. The perfect mix of take charge business man and lover mixed with the vulnerable best-friend and new dad. Aurelia works to open her dream bookstore even as she helps Ben. She deals with everything thrown at her and learns that it is not a bad thing to ask for help when she needs it. The love between Ben, Aurelia and Bea is beautiful to read. As in all of Ms. Foster’s romances the sex scenes are sexy, hot and explicit. Keep some tissues handy for the ending; it is emotional.

I absolutely loved this romance and highly recommend it.

Quick and easy best friends to lovers...

Cute best friends to lovers, with a secret baby trope as well. Baby is left at the door, and then it’s chaos and romance from that point on. It’s pretty good. Quick and easy.

I received an eArc version of Call Her Mine by Melissa Foster via Netgalley. When I discovered that it was accessible through Kindle Unlimited to read and listen, I decided on taking the audio route. Hence, my review is geared towards the audio version.

Ben Dalton and Aurelia Stark first came on my radar when they were introduced in the Sugar Lake series. Since then I have been waiting patiently for their story.

Call Her Mine is a friend to lovers’ story. Ben and Aurelia have been besties for most of their lives. Their feelings for each other went beyond friendship, but fear and misunderstandings prevented them from expressing how they felt about each other. Aurelia entered relationships, which would go nowhere, while Ben went the route of one-night stands. However, their lives got shook up, when one of Ben’s one-night stands left a baby on his front step.

I have to admit I found the story adorable and heart-warming. I loved how Ben stepped up to the plate to take care of the precious bundle of joy without knowing for sure if he was her father. His actions proved that he was capable of redemption.

I lift my hat to Aurelia. Few women would have stuck around after discovering that the man you have been crushing on has a child with another woman. Instead of running, she stood by him through it all. It proved that her feelings were the real deal.

The story had a wonderful blend of humour and romance. The story was drama free, which is usually the case with Melissa’s stories. However, she had me tearing up near to the end. I did not expect that scene, and it almost wrecked me.

Call Her Mine focused heavily on family and friendships, which is typical of Melissa’s work. Reading her books make me wish I had that family connection.

Narration
This was my first time listening to Isabelle Ruther. I thought she did an ok job. I could not get on board with her male voices, but she did an excellent job with those of the females. Her pacing and tone were good, and I loved how she brought out the emotions of the female characters.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Another great series starter from Ms. Foster and I would recommend to fans of contemporary romance.

Melissa Foster is a new-to-me author, and even though I'm not a fan of any version of the surprise baby trope (which I'd consider this to fall under), I absolutely adore friends-to-lovers romances, which is what made me request this book. Honestly, I feel like... maybe I shouldn't have, after all, because there is a lot here that just did not work for me at all as a romance novel. First off, I almost quit the book after the first chapter, when Ben continued to call the baby "it" or "that" instead of "she/her" or even "the baby" because it was honestly really gross. He also makes some comments about "crazy bitches" maybe wanting his money (because of course he's a gorgeous billionaire *eye roll*), and those type of comments just felt unnecessarily misogynistic. Fortunately this stops because of course he and Aurelia are both madly in love with the baby before too long, but that left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the book. There were a few other things similar to this scattered throughout and it did not endear the book to me at all.

I had no knowledge of Foster's previous books while reading this one. But it became obvious to me, as a longtime romance reader who knows patterns within romance series, that secondary characters had had their own books, and that this world was at least somewhat familiar to readers who have read her previous books. And while this book worked for me as a standalone in terms of the story itself, I did wonder if maybe these characters had appeared in previous books as two best friends clearly in love with each other, and this was an anticipated book? I don't know. But I guess what I'm getting at is that they kiss, profess their love, and decide to be a couple by about the 30% mark or thereabouts. So 2/3 of the book, they're already a couple practically living together raising a baby.

It just... wasn't for me. I don't expect every romance to be a slow burn, or to end when a couple gets together. I can even see the reward in seeing an established couple grow together and fall in love; raising Bea together certainly brings THEM closer together and makes them fall even more in love. But as someone new to this couple, I just found this anticlimactic. The book is less about them as a couple and more about them navigating parenthood. I can't say I was mislead because the blurb does say "instafamily," so again, maybe I just... shouldn't have bothered to read this, but meh?

I'm also really over all or mostly white small town romances. I'd say overall, I kind of had to force myself to finish this book. I was bored out of my mind for the most part.

4 What Was Meant All Along Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Melissa Foster can do no wrong in my book. She knows exactly how to weave a tale of two people who both have a love for each other...but think the other isn't interested.

She has them grow up together, see how they fall for others and then watch when the relationships fall apart.

Our guy has been biding his time waiting for the perfect moment to finally approach the woman he really loves, not the here and there one night stands.

Our gal is tired of carrying a torch for her best friend. After this last break up, she has decided she is going to move away and start a fresh new life without always wishing and hoping things were different with her bestie. Well, he is not thrilled about her moving and is trying to come up with a way for her to stay...

Only the way it all happens was not his gameplan...

A Baby is left on his door and the only person he can think who would help him is the one moving away...

Well, the power of caring, the power of concern, and the power of a little itty bitty baby puts everything in perspective...Leave it to Melissa Foster to put this all together.

There were some parts of this book I liked and some I didn't. I love books where the hero/heroine has a big family, and we got to see a lot of Ben's family throughout this book. They seem like a great family- and genuine, too. They may not always agree with each other, and they may be different but they will always love and support each other. I was also very surprised about the emotion this book made me feel. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that it's a beautiful thing to see and *feel* the love of a mother for her daughter.
Unfortunately, the part I didn't like was the actual relationship between Ben and Aurelia. I was told that they were best friends, but I didn't feel it. I was told that they loved each other- and had for a while- but I didn't feel it. I know that this might be because we're meant to know them- and their relationship- from previous books, but I haven't read them so it was hard to connect and root for them.

Overall, this isn't a bad book....but it wasn't great either. I might've liked it better if I had read the previous books, and seeing some of the characters from the previous books, I might do just that!

Call Her Mine was the first book in Melissa Foster’s Harmony Pointe series, but one of many in her Love in Bloom series. It can be read as a stand-alone for full enjoyment. However, if you are a Foster fan and like to take in the “big picture” view, it was closely related to Foster’s Sugar Lake series.

Ben Dalton was the brother to Willow, Bridgette and Talia (Sugar Lake series, books one, two and three). He was a millionaire, an overprotective brother, an OCD like planner and now add potentially a sexy new single father? Yikes!

Aurelia Stark was Ben’s bestie from forever. She grew up with his sister and they’ve been childhood friends for as long as she can remember. She was raised by her grandparents and was a new bookstore owner.

Ben and Arelia have been best friends forever. It’s the quintessential “somewhere along the journey they both developed deeper feelings but kept it hidden so as not to ruin the friendship” theme. Although a common scenario, what I liked was that they both boldly acknowledged it and weren’t trying to deny it, they just didn’t let the other know. So again, although common, it was a different spin from what I normally read. Additionally, I liked when Ben made his decision. There was no turning back and he was all alpha.

Additionally, a baby was left on Ben’s doorstep with a note saying he was the father. Ben was in total freak out mode, not ready to be a dad and too many one night stands to think it would be true without proof. No spoilers because all of that was in the description. What wasn’t in the description was how Foster took us through the relationship development and the baby development. It wasn’t necessarily the most common path and that’s why I loved it.

True to form, Foster’s writing was filled with detail, adding depth and dimension to the characters. And as expected, it was also filled with humor, steam, emotions, func reality and a bit of suspense - not in the murder mystery way, but in a good way. And I loved the loving, playful banter between all characters, both primary and secondary.

All in all, it was another great addition to Foster’s writings and a great start to a new series. Next up for Harmony Pointe is Remy in This is Love.

Call Her Mine is part friends to lovers part comedy of errors. Ben and Aurelia have been best friends for years, but never told the other how they felt. When a baby ends up on Ben's door, things change fast.

There are some really funny moments, as you can imagine, with Ben and Aurelia trying to handle a newborn. Neither of them have a clue what they are doing. The poopy diapers, the crying at inconvenient times, and the sheer exhaustion lead to some amusing moments! Through the drama of finding a baby on your doorstep, they finally admit their feelings for each other and have to navigate having a new relationship and a new baby.

Ben is a manwhore. When he first finds the baby, he can't even figure out whose baby it might be. He has to hire a PI to help him find the mother. I can't imagine being Aurelia-you finally get with the guy you have loved for years and have to spend your time together finding his ex hook ups??? But, Ben is great at showing how much he does love Aurelia, so you never actually dislike him for being a slut. While there are lots of funny moments in their new parenting adventure, there are some realistic moments as well-how do we explain this, do we tell people she isn't Aurelia's, and feeling like you are an utter failure as a parent because you can't for the life of you figure out how to get the baby to stop crying. Call Her Mine will have you laughing on one page and crying on the next.

Family bonds play a strong role in Call Her Mine as well. Ben has a big, loving, overly involved family and Aurelia has a beloved grandmother. They also have a large group of friends that help you feel like you are in the quaint town of Harmony Pointe. Call Her Mine is book one of this series, but many of the characters have been leads in their own books. At times, I was a bit confused by all the people mentioned. However, its tangental to the story, so it wasn't detrimental. If small towns, friends to lovers, and secret baby love stories are what you fancy, Call Her Mine will enchant you!

  POV: 3rd
  Tears: a few
Trope: secret baby, friends to lovers, small town
  Triggers: none
  Series/Standalone: stand alone
  Cliffhanger:
  HEA:

authors like Carly Phillips, Lauren Blakely, Kristen Proby, Jill Shalvis...then you will probably like Call Her Mine!

Adorable. I loved that Ben and Aurelia were friends first. Their chemistry was HOT and their interactions around Bea were so heartwarming. I also loved the fact that the angsty part was not between them but instead they were a united front against a possible bad situation. I really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book in Harmony Pointe!

What a REMARKABLE read! It’s been so long since I’ve read a Melissa Foster novel, and Call Her Mine has brought back all those warm and fuzzies I get from her characters and their stories.

Aurelia and Ben were such great characters and their friends-to-lovers romance gave me SO many feels. I swooned so many times I lost count. I laughed and even cried.

When a baby shows up on Ben’s doorstep their friendship was put to the test but they didn’t falter. It only strengthened that friendship and brought them together on a level they had only dreamt of before then. To see them navigate their way through learning how to care for a baby, become their own support system and then elevate their bond to a much steamier connection...it was everything.

The love they gained over that precious child they fell so quickly for, and the love they finally professed after years of silently longing...I just couldn’t help but fall so fast and SO hard in love with them.

What an incredibly beautiful story!!!

You know those books that you think you know what's going to happen and then...nope. Instead they go and shock you and sock you in the gut all at the same time.

Call Her Mine did that.

You know he finds a baby on his doorstep, it's in the blurb. But the tale of finding said baby's mother and the story of why she left baby B on Ben's doorstep was one I did not expect but I absolutely loved.

And Aurelia and Ben...perfection. They are the perfect mix of real, sweet, honest, hot, and humor. They honestly have it all.

Real:

"She'd had a ridiculous crush on her Henry Cavill lookalike best friend for far too long, and it was getting in the way of her life..."

So she moved away to a new town and opened a book store.

Sweet:

"I can take care of both my girls."

And he does in every way. When he calls his dad and makes his list. It's one of those book moments you don't forget.

Honest:

"I was filling a void where you should have been, and I knew it, but I never stopped to fix it...And now there's a little baby whose entire life will most likely be overshadowed by that weakness."

I love the way these two communicate. They talk, they share, they just get it and I love them together.

Hot:

"She was lost in his touch, his mouth, and the promise of more. She was standing on a cliff, unearthly pleasures teasing her closer to the edge. She rocked forward, urging him to take more with every stroke."

This is just one little taste. Once they decide they are more than friends, it gets steamy.

Humor:
G-string striptease (enough said)

Ben's sisters, Aurelia's grandma, Ben's parents. All the side characters have so much impact with their actions and words.

Ben, how can I tell you about Ben. He is definitely book boyfriend material. A billionaire businessman with a heart of gold. Add in a newborn baby in a basket, a relatable heroine, and amazing family, and the heartfelt story of a birthmom and what you've got is...magic.

"B might have finally brought us together, Rels. She was definitely our destiny. But the thing you need to know, deep down, when you close your eyes at night and wonder why on earth you're with a guy who has a baby, is that there has never been a time when I could imagine my world without you in it."

Okay, so I have been waiting patiently for Ben and Aurelia's story since I met them in the first book of the Sugar Lake Series, I knew there was more then them just being friends going on but I didn't know how it would play out and I have to admit I was shocked by some of it. I will not post any spoilers but I will say that with all the sparks flying between the two of them it was just a matter of time before they crossed the line of friends only.

Aurelia wasn't the only one surprised to find out that Ben was a father, after finding a little girl left on his doorstep Ben couldn't believe the news. But once he got her in his arms he was a gonner.

This wasn't only a sweet story of a couple falling in love and starting a family, it was Ben and Aurelia coming to terms with the attraction they had been fighting for YEARS!!!! It was also dealing with becoming an instant family and finding the baby's momma to find out why she had just left her.

This story as with most of Melissa Foster's books pulls at your heartstrings while stetting your kindle ablaze. For me Melissa Foster is an author that comes easily to recommend, her stories pull you in from the very beginning and never let you go, and I mean never! I Love the Dalton family and I cannot wait to see the rest of them find their HEA's.

Happy Reading!!!

Senses collide with heart. Foster takes a dip on the sweet side with a hint of naughty. There's nothing hotter than a father who loves his child. There's nothing cuter than a baby who steals the show. It may not be love at first sight, but Ben is about to get a wake up call. It comes at the hands of a surprise bundle and a life long friend. Aurelia is on the move, just when Ben needs her most. After years of longing, will a baby finally bring these clueless hearts the happy ending they've secretly always craved? Call Her Mine is proof that sweet and simple can be a sexy combination. With humor and heart, heat kind of takes a backseat this time around.

Audiobook Review: Call Her Mine (Harmony Pointe #1) by: Melissa Foster (Author), Isabelle Ruther (Narrator)

I had the pleasure of reading Call Her Mine before discovering it in audio. Ben, Aurelia and baby Bea put the term heartbreaker to shame. Foster creates a family out of a bachelor playboy, a yearning heart and a surprise baby. Ruther brings magic to something already pure gold. She turns a stunningly, beautiful story into an unforgettable heart pleaser.

Easy peasy read! Friends to lovers and plenty of laughter, too. First book in a new series with lots of characters introduced that appear headed for their own story.

I was okay with this book -- I enjoyed laughing and the bumbling behavior sharing and learning parenting skills. I thought there was too much repetition in the day-to-day and not enough of the relationship explanations. It felt a little hurried at the end and I was a bit disappointed in the Epilogue -- it just didn't feel as warm and fuzzy as I had hoped.

timing

3.5 ⭐ This was a sweet story. No villain. These are just regular plausible problems. Sometimes it's just what I like to read.

Ben and Aurelia have known each other most of their lives. Their timing was never great, and fear kept them from confessing their true feelings for one another. It takes a big event like Ben’s surprise fatherhood for them to express their true feelings.

Their trials and tribulations mostly revolve around becoming caregivers for a baby. They were written realistically. Nothing wrong with the story as a whole. It was sweet that Ben started driving more carefully because someone counted on him. I just wasn't that invested.

However, the last 30% of the book was beautiful. I was finally rooting for them, feeling the joys, fears, and sorrows of the characters.

I enjoyed the parts like Aurelia panicking over a first date. It was not over the top, but it felt real. I did like Ben realizing his priority had changed. And when Aurelia had her meltdown for being overly exhausted, I was finally hooked. It showed the dirty, messy parts of love I like so much. Nothing crazy, but it felt real.

A great best friends to lovers story with plenty of humour.

These two had been friends for years both with feelings for the other but neither of them brave enough to voice it. Then a baby gets left on the H’s doorstep and then what follows is a story of two people learning how to look after a baby, whilst admitting their own feelings to each other. They were great as a little family and so supportive of each other it made you think what took them so long! The secondary characters were all really good and the humour amongst this group of family and friends was highly entertaining.

Call Her Mine by Melissa Foster is book One in the Harmony Pointe Series. This is the story of Aurelia Stark and Ben Dalton.
Aurelia and Ben have been friends forever but neither knew of the others feeling for them being more. Aurelia never thought Ben felt more for her than their strong friendship. Ben felt like he never got the perfect moment to express how he feels but now Aurelia is planning on moving away to a near by town to open a bookstore. Next thing that happens to them is a baby is left with him and he needs help from Aurelia. Can this be the chance they need to come clean about their real feelings?
Loved their story and Ms. Foster's writing!

What did I just read? Why did I keep reading past the first few chapters? That's what I keep asking myself the entire time I forced my way through this book (because I don't like being a quitter). This was a 'new to me' author who I was at least familiar with already, having downloaded a couple of her books before now (just haven't read them). It's obvious after reading this book that the secondary characters were all part of a previous series and at times, some parts fell flat because I had no clue who they were or what their stories were.

This book can be summarized pretty simply: Boy and girl have been best friends and in love with each other for a long time, but they continue to see other people. They become a couple and instant family when a baby is left at his doorstep. They profess their love as often as possible. And they live happily ever after. The end.

That's pretty much it. At about the 90% mark, there is a really sad part that will probably make you cry. But other than that, I was bored and the only emotion I showed was annoyance at how sickeningly sweet the whole book was. By Chapter 4, I was thinking 'Surely, it can't be this easy and they can't be this in love already?' I mean they had professed their love within the first few chapters and then the book really just became about them learning to be parents. The parenting moments in the beginning were quite funny though, I'll give the book that. But everything else just seemed flat.

I'm not saying that I don't like sweet romances, I really do. But there was nothing that kept me wondering if they would end up together in the end or what hurdles they'd face. There was no gradual friends-to-lovers build-up, it was just an instant 'they should probably just go ahead and marry within the first 3 chapters' romance since it was a foregone conclusion from the beginning. Basically, the sweet stuff that usually comes at the end of a romance book was 90% of this book. Had this been a novella, that would have been just fine. But given it was a full length novel, I expected more than a book of nothing but Hallmark endings.

ahh let me start off by saying that no I did not hate this book, however it was not what I was expecting, and there where some reasons for that. One of the reasons was that I read the reviews previously to reading and so I was expecting more, second was that I haven't read a book from Melissa for years and when I did I wasn't reviewing books (which totally is not important) I know I am rambling now, but my point was that it was a loooong long time ago and I think that my reading has matured some or maybe just changed because I remember enjoying the books of hers that I have read and this one I found it to be cheesy. Let me explain just a little, Aurelia has been in love with Ben for years and so she claims (claims because does not stick with this plan) that in order for her to be able to move on to a love interest and not compare them to her male bestie Ben she is starting a new chapter of her life, so she moves to a new town, buys a book store and has a plan yet when Ben calls her she crumbles. Ben supposedly is in love with Aurelia for a long time too but has never found the right time, yet he is shockingly-yes sarcasm a manwhore. Claims he sleeps with others in order to forget Aurelia-yeah that makes sense and shows how much he truly loves her, yup that is certainly the way. Now he has a baby and finally gets the guts to tell her and get this she jumps at chance because he truly loves her and she missed the signs. Yeah, that makes so much sense in two seconds flat they are so so so in love and disgustingly sweet and become the family they always wanted..Yeah I do not think I can read another book like this, So not worth a 2 in my book but definitely not a 4, and sorry Ms. Foster but this is the end for us.
