I was looking for something more practical and less abstract. I bought this one because of the massive amounts of positive reviews, but it was disappointing. It's peppered with useful "graphics," like one of the section header placed on some blank folders. You know it's a graphic because it tells you it's a graphic in the margin, and even gives you a helpful figure number to reference, in case you hit a point later where you suddenly think WAIT A SECOND I NEED TO SEE THAT PICTURE OF BLANK FOLDERS AGAIN.

That's almost a quarter of the page. Then add in things like chapter recaps, which always take up a full page, even when the chapter itself was three pages long, and what you have is a 90-page book pretending to be a 250-page book.

There's very little practical advice in this book. I don't need to reevaluate my definitions of "ideas" versus "opportunities." What I need is things like an overview of what categories to include in my chart of accounts. Instead I got some meaningless "graphics."

It gets two stars instead of one because there's some nice blank pages in the back for taking notes. I filled those up with things I was learning from other sources while trudging my way through this book.

So as you might guess, I'm looking to start my own business. I'm in the research phase and thought this book might be useful. It is!

This book covers a lot and touches on various subjects deeply enough. While I found the information helpful, I do wish it had gone into detail on some things or given more examples. But results may vary as it depends on what kind of business you're planning on starting. It covered a lot and I'm sure I'll be referencing it a lot.

I do wish it had some worksheets or questions like a mini test at the end of the chapters. There is a link for such things but after trying and failing to signup for them multiple times, I have no idea what they're like or even if they're there. They do now have my email but unfortunately, I have nothing from them in my inbox or spam folder.

Now on to the next business book.

Overall, this book serves as a decent summary of the activities involved in starting a (successful) business. I found myself pretty aligned with what the author was advocating and the process. There wasn't too much revolutionary here -- and a lot of the material you could find in other books. If anything it's a good high level summary of other books that go deep on various aspects of the subject matter.

A recommendation is to supplement this with reading "Business Model General" by Alex Osterwalder and "Traction" by Geno Wickman

I think this book can be really interesting for those who want to start their own business. But from my own experience, I know that much more information is needed for this and how to do it, because it only sounds easy to start a business, but in fact there are many nuances. Starting your own business is an exciting but challenging journey. It's not as simple as having a great idea - you need to understand the complexity of operations, customer needs, finances, and growth strategies. One of the most important areas to manage from the start is your business finances, and this is where white-label budgeting software https://kindgeek.com/white_label_pfm_... can come in handy, which I've only recently learned about but have already realized is a useful thing. It's actually a powerful tool that allows you to manage financial planning, track expenses, set budgets, and analyze financial data - all in one easy-to-use platform. If you want to try it out for yourself, then working with a trusted development company like KindGeek can make all the difference. They specialize in creating and integrating white-label solutions, including budgeting software, that are not only highly effective but also easy to implement.

I read this book because the title interest me. My husband and I are starting a small automotive Garage. So I got this book to look into how to get started in running our business and the best do’s and don’ts for it. It’s a easy read. It helps you look into doing what you need to get the business off the ground. Helps with marketing of the business. Plus many other tips to help you. It has a great index to help you find things you might needs to look back on. And a few pages in the back you can quickly jot down some notes you might need for future reference. All in all I say this I a great book to help you get started. I know it’s been helping us. As my well read copy shows lol.

I've been an entrepreneur for almost ten years now and I can say that even with all that experience I still have a lot to learn. So when I was sent this Starting a Business QuickStart Guide, so I could review it I was incredibly interested. The whole book is eye opening. It really does simplify and consolidate a lot of tasks that are necessary to get your business off the ground without leaving out information in the idea of simplification. The book isn't just a guide though and actually had a ton of inspiration as well and really motivate someone on starting their business. I wish I'd had this book when I started out!

This book is an absolute must read if you are thinking about starting a business, or maybe you have a business that isn't doing so well. Who better to teach you how to start a business than the Dean at the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University? He will walk you step by step through the process towards letting you gain financial freedom. Overall, very informative and a great read.

More of a textbook. Found it very dry. Didn’t like the format with the little blurbs and varying text boxes. Some good info to look back on though.
