This book teaches the AFL Programming part of AmiBroker for the absolute beginner. Only the most basic aspects of AFL Programming is dealt with in this book. Array programming, loop structures, functions etc. are discussed in detail with lots of examples in practical situations. You will get familiar with Indicator writing, Watchlist creation, Explorations, Trading strategy AFL writing and Backtesting strategy on historical data. All are well illustrated with numerous examples with appropriate chart diagrams. When completed a beginner will be able to convert his trading ideas into AFL formula.
I have used AMIBroker for some time and have programmed and tested multiple trading methodologies using AFL. From my perspective, Ajan's book provided a decent refresher of the AMIBroker application as well as its programming language AFL.
For those unfamiliar with any programming language, this book may not be useful since it assumes a basic, i.e. beginner, knowledge of the basics of coding. For those with coding experience but who are unfamiliar with AMIBroker and AFL, Ajan's book will prove to be a good reference as well as a good learning tool if the coding exercises included in the book are followed.
One of the few books available on AFL Coding. Good for beginners. Myself being a non coder non it person, was able to learn basic coding after reading it 2 times. Strongly recommended.
