Rate this book
Trusting your ex is relative when you’re running from a killer…

A team-building exercise at a remote location reignites the heat between former lovers Madeleine Smith and Nicholas Garabaldi. When team members start dying they must learn to trust again before they can outwit whoever is killing off the group one by one. Is this the ‘Executioner’ from the indigenous Dreamtime legend of the local Bibulmun tribe? Or is it someone closer to home?

About Maggie Nash

Living in a fantasy world as a child, Maggie was fascinated with telling stories. Whenever she shared her adventures of imaginary friends and saving the world from the bad guys, her mother called it…Romancing?.

Actually it was more likely a really good ploy to get out of doing chores! Little wonder that after a life spent in many different occupations, Maggie has settled in to writing romance fiction. Her stories range from dark erotic thrillers, to fantasy tales of bondage and submission, to romantic suspense and paranormal.

While the mystery of the Dreamtime legends and cultural beliefs of this wonderful land can sometimes keep one guessing, it often turns out the mystery is quite simply the evil twisted mind of an unknown predator.

This short story tells of such a situation, but also begs the question “Does one really understand what lies beyond the cities of this amazing country?”

What should have been a rugged, but fairly routine team building exercise for a group of office dwellers, becomes a dangerous game of cat and mouse when people disappear and bodies are found in their wake.

Some mystery, intrigue and we can’t forget the romance, are always essential in a good “Who Dun It?” and go a long way to making this a very enjoyable read.

This was a short, but good story about lost love and finding it again under extreme circumstances. Maddie was a born leader and was reluctant about attending the bonding retreat for her new job. Things happen that change the outcome of the retreat and push her into the arms of her boss. Her boss happens to be the man who dumped her when she thought he cheated on her with another woman.

Nick pushed Maddie away because he was afraid of commitment, but has regretted it ever since. He arranged for her to end up working for his company and to attend the retreat in hopes that he could win her back by getting her alone. But, things didn’t go as planned and they are thrown together sooner than he had hoped under stressful circumstances.

I enjoyed the suspenseful part of the storyline. When the perpetrator of the events was revealed I was shocked!! No way did I suspect that person! I love how strong Maddie’s character was and how she kept Nick at arm’s length until she decided she wanted him back. I enjoyed Nick’s tenacity and the way he cared for Maddie. He was a headstrong, alpha male, but he knew when to stop pushing and when to allow Maddie space to come to terms with things. And the chemistry?!?! Holy smokes!! The pages were on FIRE!!

Overall, this is a fun, intriguing, keeps you on the edge of your seat, story that I enjoyed.

This short story briefly mentions a local myth and legend about The Executioner, but apart from that, the story is mainly a second-chance romance. On a team-building weekend, something goes wrong and they end up with two dead bodies. Maddie needs to keep it together as Team Leader to assist the police, whilst also figuring out if she will forgive her ex, Nick.

This is a fast-paced story that nevertheless manages to tell the complete story and give you a hint of the mysterious too. Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I found, this makes a perfect coffee break book. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this book, the two main characters were well fleshed out with a sexual chemistry so strong that as a reader you wonder how could they not be together. The story starts as 2 groups of people are sent camping as a team bonding exercise for the company they work for. Tragedy soon strikes as a member of one of the groups is found dead, putting fear into everyone remaining.
This brings the story's two lovers closer, and after some hot scenes together, the remainder of the story unfolds. On the whole, the story was fast paced after a start which slowly set up the rest of the story, and for some reason, the ending fell flat for me, as if the story reached its peak and then crawled to its end. But on the whole, a very enjoyable quick read. Well done Maggie
