What did Lianna really inherit after the destruction of her life, after the destruction of the person she thought she was?
What did David deserve after the destruction of Lianna’s life?
What he thought he deserved is not what he’s getting,thát’s for sure!
Lianna needs him too much to let him go....
And after all those revelations, she knows he has been the only one that’s been honest with her.
That knows the who,the how,and the what of her previous life.
But making him see, really see, that she chooses him and only him?
That could take a while, because all he can see is,that he’s too dark for her light.
And knowing who is coming for her,who is going to bribe her into doing the one thing that might prove fatal for that light?

The life they had before is gone,Destroyed.
But the Inheritance is a hope for a future, together.
The way there,is by communication and understanding.
Can these two halves of a coin, dark and light, make it work?
Can they find their Redemption, and come out of the fight for their love together?

I am more than ready to find out!

ETA: I've just completed a re-read of this, ready for Redemption and loved it just as much. It's so wrong but just feels so very right.

The only promise he'd ever break was the one he'd made to leave when she told him to go.
That promise they'd broken together. Tonight. But every promise he's made on the cold tile he'd keep. He'd die to keep them, because she was his hill to die on.
His world, his future.
His everything.

I need to start by reassuring Ms Bene that all the angst, all the heartache, all the tearing at her hair, cursing at her keyboard and despairing at her first drafts was so VERY WORTH HER TIME AND EFFORT. In fact I would go so far as to say that all her suffering, all her emotion, bled into this work and made it SUCH an emotional read. Once started, it is one of those books that you just don't want to put down until you've read every word. It's way beyond the mere 5 stars available to bestow upon it.

David and Lianna are where they want and need to be, with each other. Yet everything is wrong. Instead of being left alone to rebuild her and their life, outside forces are determined to hold them back and drag them down into the corruption that both are desperately trying to claw their way out of. I need to add at this point that Inheritance isn't a stand alone book. It's the second in a trilogy, Destruction must be read first to fully understand David and Lianna's tale.

Inheritance is full of power, passion, and pain. So many times it slips back into the dark waters of David's soul, leaving marks both physical and mental on the both of them. Yet that suffering and hurt are necessary, for there lays the path to light, hope and redemption. Lianna and David continue to burn up the sheets with their explosive, and ofttimes violent, chemistry. Theirs is a raw, visceral and twisted relationship but, as two sides of the same coin, they somehow make it work.

So much happens in this book, and yet in some ways not very much at all. It is very much a tale of personal growth, of accepting who you are but also realising that you can change that individual. Realising that the past doesn't dictate the future. Acknowledging that the sins of the father do not need to be visited upon the son. I loved every single minute of reading Inheritance, even when it made me cower away in horror. And it builds such a twisty, tangled web of love, suspicion, hope and distrust that will no doubt fray and shatter when they find their final Redemption.

I absolutely love Jennifer Bene's deliciously dark stories. They always hit the spot and are never weak on shocking twists. I loved David and Lianna's connection as they continue their volatile relationship.

David and Lianna were just as dark and sexy. There was something about their relationship that I could not get enough of. I loved David in Destruction but I loved him even more in Inheritance as he has to decide what is more important - his love for Lianna or his revenge. I seriously can't wait for more! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Jennifer Bene continues to show how truly talented an author she is as Inheritance, book 2 in the Fragile Ties Series continues where Destruction, book 1 left off and despite the long wait, she has given her readers something raw, gritty and edgy as we return to the tale of David and Lianna.

I felt this one was certainly not quite as dark as book 1, but that in no way makes this any less of a dark romance. It is still VERY dark! It has elements that grip you and shakes you to the core as David's inner 'monster' surfaces and times when Lianna's light may simply be not enough to overcome the fight continuing between these two. Together though, David and Lianna continue to grow, heal and make some startling realisations that can only lead to some very challenging future decisions.

For me, Jennifer sums this book up beautifully as Lianna states, 'It doesn't have to make sense. We don't have to explain it to anyone, okay? I know how I feel' and this for me, highlights all this dark romance is about. It has some very emotional times, some of which some readers may find challenging to read but, it doesn't have to be explained - it simply is a love that was formed out of the dark and bitterness and continues to blossom as both the light and the dark join in a perfect union. They are each other's salvation and together they can only continue to shelter and protect each other from themselves and the unrelenting destruction family history has created.

This story is not finished yet and despite not moving very far along in the tale, Jennifer has managed to add so much to the development of David and Lianna that you can't help but fall for these two and hope the final book will only continue to make them stronger and not let the darkness of family history, deceit and their own insecurities drive them apart. I for one can't wait to see what Redemption brings as we see how the Faure families motto, 'la famille avant tout' really begins to play out!

A great 5plus star read for me, this one is a must read!

The push and pull between David and Lianna continues in Inheritance. Their relationship has changed on many levels but David's underlying vices and deep-seated execration of her family continues to pollute their life together and his ability to understand Lianna and truly be there for her. The story is dark and gritty at times but exactly what one needs and expects from Jennifer Bene!

I wasn't completely sold on the first instalment of this series. Lianna seem to be too numb to everything and let David control the scene. It didn't sell to me as dark romance as there was many scenes where David just unleashed everything but didn't convince me.

This second instalment is different as the now Lianne is trying to control the picture.with the relationship changed and now that Lianne is free to peruse a future on her own terms.

This felt dark as the new players on the scene truly did sell this as a dark romance. With the background story more clear given the events of the first book. it's hard not get addicted to this story and wonder how Lianne and David can survive.

David does still come across as the alpha posessive man who doesn't know what to do in a situation he can't control. He truly shows what is missing from the first book. He caught up in a situation that no ones knows the ending of and the third book is going to be either make or break.

There are not enough stars for this book. Really, giving it only 5 stars is nearly an insult. I can't even guess how many stars I should give it. I may not even have the right words to describe it, but it doesn't mean that I won't try.

David and Lianna have survived the last few months since Lianna's life radically changed. That includes going through investigations, frozen assets, and having to pack up her beloved apartment. If you ask me, packing up and getting ready to move may be the worst part of it. David is trying to do everything he can to keep her safe from her father's family, because they are evil people. And not even regular evil, but like super mega evil. But like a lot of other super mega evil people, they want to suck Lianna in, so they keep offering her cookies.

There's a lot that happens in this book. Just so much. A lot of it is David and Lianna trying to figure out who they are now, because everything they have thought they knew about themselves has changed. They are the only constant in each others' lives.

The connection between David and Lianna is so strong and passionate. You can just feel it, it's so tangible and visceral. Sometimes it's almost like it's almost too personal and intimate to watch, but you can't look away because it's so compelling and magnetic.

I can't wait to see what's coming next.

Dangerous Temptation

I always knew Jennifer Bene was a prolific author with great talent, but this 2nd part Inheritance of the Fragile Ties Trilogy absolutely blew me away! I highly recommend if you haven’t read the series that you need to do so! A haunting story of lost family love, secrets, lies and betrayal. I will be waiting with bated breath for the last book Redemption in this magnificent trilogy.
A dark salacious read that sucks you in from the outset!
As long as Lianna is one of the Faure Crime Family they will never leave her alone in their manipulation of her life. What will be Jean-Luc’s demands be for her freedom and will Lianna be tempted for her lost family love that was denied her? Home is where the heart is after all or is it? Could David carry on protecting Lianna from the Faure’s?

This is the second book in in the Fragile Ties Series and I do recommend reading them in order. How can David love Lianna when he hates her family? He wants his revenge but he also wants Lianna, which will he choose? This is a fast-paced emotional read with lots of drama and suspense. The intensity of their relationship really draws you into the story and takes you a wild ride. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

“Is hate really the hill you want to die on?”

If anyone one line in Jennifer Bene’s newest novel Inheritance surmises it would be that. The story that leads to David being challenged by that question is really what drives this novel, and it a powerful one. David is consumed by hatred of the Faure family as much as he is by love and desire for Lianna, and yet in the end one must take precedence over the other. A person cannot live in both world’s, and David becomes a living breathing testament to that. His journey to discovering that he’s got to decide what “…hill you want to die on.” is one of the biggest hooks that digs its way into you as read this novel, and it is also one of the story’s greatest strengths.

Inheritance is the companion novel to Destruction, which is Lianna and David’s ‘enemies-to-lovers’ origin story. That novel was intense, and it is highly recommended to anyone who hasn’t read it and may be unfamiliar with the backstory behind David and Lianna’s relationship. Inheritance picks up some months after where Destruction ended, and David and Lianna are working to make sense of a relationship that was borne out of a seriously difficult and complicated situation. Lianna has an opportunity presented to her that would go some ways in helping her recover a portion of her world that was ripped asunder. The problem is that it involves her family, which David has a deep-seated, all-consuming hatred for. So while Lianna deals with her demons and the potential ramifications of making a choice regarding the prospect in front of her, she has to deal with David at the same time. David is just a torn up mess. He is still dealing with fallout from his actions in Destruction, coming to terms with the fact that the woman he has fallen in love with has desires that do not align completely with his own, and ultimately making the decision as to which is more important to him in the long run. His demons equally come into play here, especially where it concerns his sexual dynamic with Lianna, and trying to factor that into everything else going on between them. To say he is conflicted would be an understatement by many magnitudes.

I have spent a lot of time focusing on David, and for me that is because his story in the novel was the one that resonated deeply with me. This is not to diminish Lianna’s impact on the novel, but everything that David agonizes about was just so well presented, and so incredibly well fleshed out that I was really drawn to him as a character. The questions he ends up forced to confront, the challenges he ends up having to face, and ultimately the decisions he makes are not sketched in broad strokes and resolved easily. The author pulls you into his world, his thoughts, his struggle to come to grips with everything that is facing him, and at no point does she take the easy way out. Which makes reading his story so gripping and engaging, because there is nothing formulaic about what he goes through. He agonizes over things, even when to the reader the choice he should make is clear and obvious. There are people, including Lianna herself, who advise him what he should do, and yet—like so many of us—he sometimes ignores that advice and chooses to first go down his own path, even if it only makes things that much more difficult for him. David is an extremely complex and nuanced character in Inheritance, and for me that was probably one of the greatest strengths and pleasures that I took away from the book. This is not to say that Lianna’s story is not without its own depth, because that is not true. Her story is powerful in its own right, but for this reader it was David’s story that really carried me through page after page, and there were points where I wanted alternately to smack him upside the head, and then hug him for what he does. One final note in regards to David; I respected greatly that the author made a conscious decision not to make him SuperDom or UltraBadBoy. I was afraid that might be the case, but it was completely unfounded. David really is just a flawed human being. He is struggling to come to terms with so many things, and he makes some dumb decisions at certain points, which makes him so much more than what could easily have been a tropish ‘SuperDude – Lover’ character. He is completely relatable, which was so refreshing.

If there was a weak point to this novel it was a glaring one to me, and limited to one section. There is a flashback dream sequence which I felt was unnecessary. As I read through it I felt as if it was shoe-horned in place by the author because there was some concern on her part that people had not picked up enough clues from the previous portions of the book to understand the place and past where David was coming from. I felt this was unneeded, and reading through this section was off-putting to me. It was almost as if the author wasn’t giving the reader enough credit for catching all the details that had been provided prior to that. It was a TL;DR synopsis that I felt could easily have been parceled out in other portions of the novel, but since it was presented as a whole I felt it was being forced upon me to make sure I understood what David had gone through, when that was already perfectly clear to me. This being said, it is not that this section is poorly written, or doesn’t provide some additional details, but the way in which those details were presented I believe could have been done in a different and less ‘pushy’ way. Again, it was nothing, however, that I would say was a great detriment to the novel as a whole.

Inheritance is above all other things, a story. A beautifully rendered, plot driven story of two people finding their way in a burgeoning relationship that is being built on a foundation based on the rubble of past lives. It is not a sketch, or a series of random sex scenes tacked together with a barely there plot. This is a novel that is going to make you think, and feel, and empathize with the characters within it. Of course there are the signature Jennifer Bene hot and sexy scenes, and some incredible ones to boot! But what is really going to make you stop and think, and remember this novel long after you have finished it, are the interactions between Lianna and David. The story of how they build a life together after everything they went through in Destruction. How they decide which hill to stand on.

Together.

Inheritance by Jennifer Bene

Oh, I needed this book! To inspire, quell, rationalize, understand, to see the light and it exceeded my expectations. The crazy train relationship continues! The protector, his obsessive nature and his beast will be reignited when additional family surfaces.  Can she truly want, love or accept this man he is mess perhaps her other half of her own mess? Will hate consume and destroy the only light in his life? If you have the passion to hate do you then also have the intense passion to love. Consequences of Robert's path of destruction leaves the heiress without an identity consumed by flames, who will she become? This continues for Liliane and David perhaps the start of something sinefully delicious. This S/M couple just may have a future if they can accept what society deems unacceptable. What an amazing continuation. Can't wait to see what other skeletons are exposed and if his beast will resurface yet again.

The second book in the Fragile Ties series continues on with David and Lianna’s story and the turmoil they are going through over Lianna’s family in France and David’s desire to keep her save and protect her from the Faure family. He wants to protect her from the danger they present. However, if he keeps her from her family, he could lose her for good.

David only knows hate and his mind won’t change when it comes to the Faure family and Lianna’s father, even though he’s now gone. Lianna is drifting and feeling lonely, so when her uncle shows up, she has a hard time turning him away and wants more answers than what she has gotten from David. The only trouble is, she isn’t sure who to believe and she’s hurting David by speaking to her uncle.

I enjoyed this second part of the series but didn’t find it to draw me in like the first part, Destruction. While it has the intrigue, suspense and darkness of Destruction, it didn’t pull right in and draw my attention like the first book. With that being said, I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to Redemption. I am actually excited to read Redemption. While the first part of the book didn’t pull me in and hold me prisoner to the book, the ending did. I am looking forward to reading how the Faure family will treat Lianna and David and if they are in as much danger as David seems to think they are. I give this book a 4.5-star review and recommend it to readers like mafia, suspense, danger, and dark desires. Ms. Bene knows how to write dark stories and this series does not disappoint at all.

Dark romance to take you past your limits

Jennifer Bene is the mistress of dark, dark romance, she isn’t only balancing on the knife’s edge of darkness, but takes you past your limits and makes you crave it.
Inheritance is the second book in her Fragile Ties series and you should definitively have read book one, Destruction, before delving into this one.

The whole begins as a revenge tale: David abducts and tortures Lianna because he holds her father responsible for the death of his mother and the ruination of his family. While he wants to use her to destroy her father and dismantle his business, he derives sadistic pleasure from keeping Lianna prisoner and inflicting pain on her and forcing pleasure from her. But he doesn’t manage to break her and it slowly dawns on him that she might be ignorant of her father’s machinations. So he tells her the truth and provides evidence that dear dad is a member of an international crime family and succeeds in turning her against her father. After he ends up taking a bullet for her during a botched rescue attempt, Lianna helps save his life and keeps quiet about his involvement in the events that led to the death of her father. And after he is released from hospital, she takes him home with her, because she wants to learn more about her father’s dealings and about his family and because she has come to crave David’s brand of torture.

So that is where they are at at the beginning of book two, Inheritance. Because of the exposure of her father’s criminal activities she is now under scrutiny from the FBI herself and her assets have been frozen and she is not allowed to leave the country. While she is fighting to prove her innocence and to reclaim her life, she is contacted by Jean-Luc Faure, her uncle and the head of the crime family. Jean-Luc is very undemanding and invites Lianna to visit the family in France. Since she has no other family left, Lianna feels compelled to explore the connection, even knowing what the Faures are. That she is getting entangled with the Faures is driving David crazy and he tries to keep her from having any further contact. But as much as Lianna likes being dominated in the bedroom, she is putting her foot down outside of it and David comes to realize if he wants to keep her in his life, he has to bend. And to make things worse, Jean-Luc miraculously manages to make all of Lianna’s problems go away, drawing her in further…

I really loved how the relationship between Lianna and David developed, how in some ways they were like a normal couple, while still retaining the darkness that drew them together in the first place. And I absolutely loved the glimpses of David’s domesticity, which made him endearing and all the more sexy at the same time. It seems like book three will see Lianna and David in France, and I can’t wait to discover how that turns out. Is it wrong of me to hope for a little more violence and sadistic bedroom games in the next installment?

To say that I have been waiting for this book like I needed air would be an understatement. I have gone back and read Destruction several times so that I wouldn't lose this story in the hundreds that I have read in between waiting for this story to continue. I fell in love with David and Lianna in the first book. Their story was truly destructive and based on revenge and hate. However, it grew into something more as I started to see the characters behind the mask that they wrote. So I patiently waited knowing that this author would give me the words when she could because there was no way that an author could let one of her "babies" not have a conclusion. And I was right.

Inheritance is different than the first book but different doesn't mean bad. If anything, in this case, I would say it got better. There were still the demons in David and he was still the sadist who loved to inflict pain, but he also was better at knowing that it was finally okay to love and be loved. Lianna was no longer a means to an end but rather was "the END" being that he would truly die for her. Lianna, this time around had grown stronger. No longer ashamed that she craved David and his demons while still balancing that she wanted to discover more about herself and her family. I am intrigued by what is going to come with Jean-Luc and the Faure family. Knowing this author, she will keep me on my toes and will make me sweat it out until the very end.

I am holding my breath for the next and final book of this amazing trilogy.

I’m sorry am I reading the same book as everyone? I loved the storyline with Jean Luc and the tension it created- however, to say I’m not insanely bored with the angst between David and Lianna would be a lie. David is full of angst and troubles and griefs due to what occurred with Liannas family. That’s pretty much it. That’s the storyline for this book. Lots of arguing. Lots of disagreement. Lots of angry makeup sex that’s more like hardcore BDSM. Which listen, I love that shit. But like. I feel like I’ve just been reading longest never ending argument. I’m at about 80% through so hoping for the plot to develop somewhere...buuuuut. The first book was a horrifically wonderful dark read. I’m just waiting for something to happen in this book that reminds me that they’re more than just angst and arguments.

Edit: okay. So chapter 20. That’s when stuff happens. I started to just skip through to the beginning of each chapter. Listen i love sexy steamy scenes. Who doesn’t. But y’all. Every chapter. And it was just becoming redundant

“You like when I hurt you?”
“Yes I live when you hurt me!”
“You like when I make you cry?”
“Fuck yes David I love it.”
“Tell me Ángel.”
“Tell me.”
“TELL ME!!”

Too much lol. That said I’m pissed that I am the way that I am because guess what? Imma still buy that next book cause that cliffy. Please don’t let me down with more dry internal musings, arguments, more arguments and redundant sex. Changing my rating to a 3 cause I genuinely wanna know what happens next.

★ An installment worth waiting for ★

—>>> David has spent all his life with his emotions on a slow-rolling boil until the moment he can wreak the revenge on the family he has been taught to hate, on the one person he has chosen to bear the brunt of his family’s destruction. But once he found Lianna, his views became much more than black and white, and he did not know how to deal with the grey portions of the emotions he was beginning to feel for his captive, as she became the one thing he realized he could not lose. After all this time, ironically, the one person he wanted to destroy became the one person he could no longer do without.

Lianna’s world has been been uprooted and thrown into chaos. Her father is gone, she’ll have to leave her home, all her finances have been frozen and is under the scrutiny of the FBI for her father’s dark deeds. So when family she has always been estranged from tentatively reach out to her, it is only natural that she has questions and reciprocate. But first, Lianna has to work through the bones-deep distrust, hatred, and fear that this gesture swells up in David, throwing what tenuous ties they have as a couple into further turmoil. Looking forward to how they move on together in the next book!

In fragile ties #2 we have a ton of feels. Lianna and David go through them all. Hate, Love, Angst, Satisfaction, Loyalty, Betrayal, you get the idea. In order to understand and enjoy this complicated mess that Lianna and David find thenselves in, you really need to read Destruction, the basis of their relationship was built around that situation. I won't even attempt to explain their journey, there was the previous book and other reviews that have done that already. What I will say is, as a strong resister of cliffhangers I went into this book expecting there to be more of this story to come and I and perfectly fine with that. There is no way Ms. Bene could possibly fit all there is to know in one or two novels. I do look forward to the final conclusion of what's been a trip into mayhem, love and an uncertain future for this couple, I hope they survive and get their HEA. Know that there is some very hot, kinky sex interspersed with the story and I am also greatful for that too, we all needed to take a breath and enjoy some stress relief and the connection that keeps Lianna and David fighting to keep each other happy.

In book two, Inheritance, we find David having a difficult time adjusting to his life with Lianna as many secrets have been revealed.

" Lianna was his kryptonite, his one weakness, and after all their months together he'd accepted it. She was still his obsession. His focus. Only now she was his. To protect, to shield from all the darkness.

"Well, all of the darkness except his own."

He's struggling to control her, to changed her mind and to agree with his opinions. She's slowly starting to realize that the family she's never known means something to her and she wants to meet them.

"Neither of them were okay. They were still wrong in oh-so-many ways."

As their story continues, David's friend Harry tries to help him out of his darkness and see some light.

Harry asks, "Is hate really the hill you want to die on?"

David has some serious decisions to make.

"A life with her, or without her."

Ms. Bene wraps up book two nicely. I'm anticipating the last story in this series, Redemption, to see just how much the light shines and the darkness fades.

“If I’m going to pick a hill to die on, one single thing that I’ll go to the mat for, that I’d die for —it’s you. I love you.”

This book is the second in a trilogy, and must read the magnificent Destruction first. I think Destruction was one of the first books I read by this author, and I have been patiently waiting for Inheritance. It was absolutely worth the wait. This book is clearly a labour of love, and so much effort and angst has been put into David and Lianna, who spend a lot of energy reflecting on their lives, histories, and who they are going to become. While their scars fit each other so perfectly, each must put aside pieces of themselves so they can be together. The emotions are extreme in this one, so hang on for a bumpy ride. Looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy, and find out what is *really* going on.

Jennifer Bene you are author extraordinaire! Your books are always written with emotion and gusto. Your characters are well thought out and exemplary.
Lianna makes the reader feel sad and angry on her behalf. She is character who life and circumstances keep pushing but she survives with her light still shining.
David makes the reader cheer for him, his strong, dark, Alpha male presence makes me hope that he wins in the end.
The Faure's, and Jean-Luc in particular have me guessing what their ulterior motive is, and what will happen to this couple.

To much abuse to get 5 stars

This book is infinitely more tame then the first book was but the darkness of the abuse just to initiate sex is still to much for me to give this 5 stars. I get that the author makes a point (more than once) that Lianna likes this dark abusive side of David but it still seems unrealistic that any woman would like that amount pain. To each their own though so I still read the book. It's good writing and story is interesting....enough that I definitely want to see how it ends. However, for me it would be nice if this dark abuse that goes along with their sex life was somewhat resolved. It would mean a definite growth in character for both David and Lianna....and I think that's going to be needed if there is to be any kind of closure to all of the atrocities they have suffered! I really don't want to see this kind of abuse be apart of the rest of their lives....to me that would not be a happy ending.

This is book two in the Fragile Lies Trilogy and we pick up shortly after book one ends. This is not a standalone read, go and read book one Destruction. This book continues on the dark and twisty path of both David and Lianna's lives. One of the twists in this book is that now David realizes that he has fallen for Lianna and she has become his world but now he struggles with if Lianna will even give him a fleeting thought after all he has done. Obviously, these two came together under entirely different expectations and circumstances but as the story unfolds can they come together and maybe even save each other? As always this is a well written story that grabs a hold of you and pulls you along through to the end. Unfortunately or fortunately, you decide, this is not the end of David and Lianna, we get one more book to enjoy. Please keep those words coming!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC from Hidden Gems.

Lianna and David were one intense couple in Destruction.
Now they are living together. Although Lianna's world has crashed around her and David is still consumed with hatred of her family, they are clinging to each other. Their "game" of dominance and pain still a cornerstone of their relationship.
Ms Bene lets us see and feel the whirlpool of conflicting feelings, the desperate need, those two have for each other.
When a surprise visit escalates the turmoil of their relationship I felt right in the room with them. Scared, angry, feeling an all consuming rage, the dread of loss. Being set on a journey that could mean the ruin of their lives. And in the middle of that perfect storm they find their true meaning.
This is another excruciatingly beautiful story by this scary talented author.

Wow! Second book as good as the first if not better. Well developed characters. I was sucked right into the story! My review will not be too detailed because so much goes on and it is much better that you read yourself.
David and Lianna live together now and she has been going through a lot since her fathers' demise. Enter an uncle, who she barely knows, from her past. David automatically doesn't trust or even like Jean-Luc Faure. Jean-Luc manipulated and therefore fixed all of Lianna's problems. David has an epiphany and knows he's all in for Lianna. He professes his love for her and she for him. Jean-Luc has invited them both to France to meet her other side of the family. Jean-Luc is dirty just as Lianna's father. David agrees to go with her to look after her and keep her safe.
Loved the book! Cannot wait to see what happens next!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Falling for the girl he kidnappped shouldn't have happened, Especially not Lianna Mercier, daughter of the man he hated, and heir to a family name steeped in blood and violence. But now she is his entire world, and Liann's is burning down around her. David may have lit the match and set her life on fire, but all he wants now is to keep her safe. With their future on the line...can he ever ask her to choose him after all he's done.

This is the second book in this series to you need to read the first one before you do Inheritance or your going to be lost. This book is so good that it deserves more stars than are allowed. This story is nothing short of amazing and had me hanging on every single world that was written. If you love dark books you do not want to to miss this one or any Jennifer Bene book for that matter.

Our favorite dark angels are back. This picks up a few months after the first book and we can see what life has been like after the truth was set out. David's plan to ruin Lianna's life came had worked. She needs to move to a smaller apartment, her accounts have been frozen, and the FBI are investigating her to see if they can charge her for the crimes of her father. But at least they still have each other. Their twisted relationship has gotten stronger...until the criminal side of her family comes forward to meet her and want her to be apart of the family she never got to know. The family that ruined David's family and childhood. The family he has always hated.
Can they make it through it? And what will they do about the Faure family closing in?
A dark read with very steamy, rough moments.

Wow, what an amazing book! Although not as dark as the first book, the story was still very dark and intense. The chemistry between Lianna and David was off the charts and parts of the story were difficult to read. This was a story of their journey of how the relationship grows between the two of them whilst dealing with the fallout from the first book. The growth of the characters was written beautifully, especially for David as he starts to put his love for Lianna before his hatred and revenge for the Faure family. The book was beautifully written and I think Jennifer Bene is such an amazing author. You can’t help but fall in love with David and Lianna and I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens as you just know their story is about to get even more intense and dangerous as they head off to face her family.

Emotional roller coaster of a story

This book was an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. It has its ups and downs and action and suspense as we follow the lives of David and Lianna. It will bring you to tears, have you on the edge of your seat turning the page as fast as your eyes will allow you to read. It will hook you from the beginning and not let you go until well after you have finished reading The End. This book sticks with you, in a good way. Jennifer does an amazing job of developing these characters even more in this book. And of course the hot sex, it’s a Jennifer Bene book, it’s gonna have hot sex. Be sure to buy this book right now, clear your schedule and read it from cover to cover!

In this book the story of Lianna and David continues. It has a different vibe then the first book Destruction. It deals with the aftermath of the events that happened in Destruction.

Jennifer Bene takes the reader on a beautiful detailed emotional journey of Lianna, David and their relationship. There is angst, conflict, longing, loneliness, soul searching, finding out what you want in life, what you need and about love. Lianna and David are not the same people they were a year ago, they have changed. There is a lot of growth in the characters.

This book will give you all the feels. It is an amazing character driven book and luckily the story isn’t over yet. There is more to come.
