As a parent to a four year old with down syndrome, I found this book incredibly relatable and helpful in assisting my son reach milestones, be the best person he could be and felt an overall joy and happiness reading this. There were many tears in thinking of what his future could possibly be. When he was born I felt doom and gloom thinking he would never have a normal life but he absolutely can, just like anyone else.... he just learns at his own pace. Excellent book. Already have implemented some of the suggestions in here to help him grow and develop. I read the 1978 version which is obviously quite outdated but it had some really great reccomendations.
I found this to be a great resource as an introduction to Down Syndrome. It provided explanation of causes, physical features, medical concerns, developmental interventions, what to expect, advances thus far, and what the future may hold. An easy read without technical terms. I will keep this on my shelf to reference for families in the future.
