The minute this book was released, I rushed to read this; since TBC toolkits are usually very informative, well-written, and a must-read for any self-published author. This book is definitely no different and is all this and more. 'Self-Editing, Editing, and Editors', as the title suggests, talks extensively about the types of edits, why an author needs an editor, and what is the value-add an editor alone can provide for your manuscript. If you're a relatively new author or you're an aspiring one, I'd really recommend you read this book to know how to find an editor who'd work for you, and what are the things that you need to watch out for!
Inderpreet, being an editor and an author, has brought out her knowledge and experience of both these roles in this book. She's (unconsciously) answered all the questions an author might have, putting their apprehensions to ease.
What I liked about the book: succinct, well-structured, informative, and complements the Toolkit series so well! Overall, a must-read (especially) for new authors!
#qotd Have you read a nice story line with very bad editing, especially self-published ones❓ #qotd Are you confident about a good read based on the publishing House associated with the book❓ #qotd Do you reread your drafts before making it public❓
"The first draft of anything is called shit."- Ernest Hemingway.
Noone likes a half-baked 🍰 cake/book or one which is a maze of errors & typos.
This book, #writerstoolkit is about #editing #selfediting & #editors
This books talks about the actual meaning of editing. Editing doesn't mean; 🍁 asking your friend, colleague or eng teacher to read & correct your work.. 🍁 it also is much more than downloading a software for the purpose.
🍀 Editing should be done by a person who is not biased to your work & is essentially a professional. 🍀 The software is going to pick up technical errors, will do spell check but it cannot sort out emotional errors. Editing requires human intervention. For eg; for a machine, spellings for both Die & Dye are correct but the context can be completely different which cannot be picked by a machine.
🍁 What if the writer or blogger thinks, his work is perfect & feels nobody knows it more than him..? Is editing still required? 🍀 Has it ever happened that you have been looking for something the whole day & someone else finds it in a matter of minutes? Well, our mind tricks us..& for that we need editors.
This book is written in a conversational style, like the author is teaching the basics, advising the reader on various fronts & that too in easy, eloquent language.
It deals with questions like, how to find the right editor & things to do that will save money before you submit your manuscript for editing.. it also talks about EDITING CONTRACTS & NDA..
Editing helps shield mistakes & errors & correct them before reaching the readers, the public domain.
Although I have interacted with her a no. of times, not verbally..though.. I felt this book is speaking for itself in an earnest, chirpy way to prove some very important points & enlighten in the process.
A GOOD, INSIGHTFUL READ. It is part of a series.
The author herself is a WRITER as well as an EDITOR with books like 🔵 Dreams, Desires, Struggles & Triumphs and 🔵 Generously Your's: His gift from beyond. Her book 🔵 Diya's Desires is Coming Soon.
The author is also a professional editor as a result she has written from her experience making it a very handy toolkit. It is very succinct and handy for a budding and even a published writer to glean & make use of. It's a definite read!

If you are an author or an aspiring one or have a passion for writing, then this book is a talking guide. We all dream to write ✍something big that turn out to be the best and influence people in all walks of their life. Sometimes, though the plots are executed, characterization development being fantastic, few errors, repetitive words, and sentence formation plays a spoilsport.
The book covers all the features relating to editing and thereby classifying and explaining the aspects of Self – Editing, Editing, and Editors. It highlights different steps that would help the writer to showcase his masterpiece in the same way but with few modifications. Though there are several smart software available in the market to detect and rectify- the importance of human elements to trace and add emotion to the writing plays a significant role.
The author being a professional editor has poured out her experience by sharing a few incidents and her insights. The book is brilliantly classified into chapters making it easier to choose and refer. There are other series as well for an in-depth understanding and execution. I personally loved the knowledge I gained from the book and wished if it was more of it. Highly recommend for writers and others in the pipeline as a one-stop solution in selecting the right editors, clearing their mind blocks on costing, the safety of their contents, and other queries.
