always enjoy Prof Stubbs and Max. Happy to discover that Dover is releasing two more titles from Campbell

One of the better Professor Stubbs stories with an ingenious solution to the fatal stabbing of a customer in a night club while he is sitting alone at a table. Stubbs is a larger than life character with an apparently limitless capacity for alcohol and for rubbing his personal assistnat, Max, up the wrong way. The book gives a good sense of the period immediately after the war when, despite rationing, goods were freely available to those with ready cash who were willing to deal with the spivs and criminals that provided them.
