The more I read it, the more boring and annoying it got. The characters are sometimes sweet, sometimes annoying.

The boredom it caused might have melted some of my brain cells so I don’t think I will be able to write a coherent review.

Here are some random thoughts:

The hero, Dev, is a super model. The heroine, Audrey, is his best friend’s sister. She is in between jobs now.

***

He said he always wanted Audrey but she was too young so he didn't act on it. He dated super models, had serious relationships etc. She was also in a serious relationship and got engaged.

***

Dev gets to meet Audrey again at his best friend’s wedding after 5 years of not seeing her. She is all grown up, beautiful and sexy. He feels even more attracted to her now.

***

Audrey got dumped by her fiancé 6 months ago and she is still sad. Dev's last relationship ended 7 months ago.

Now, both of them are free and they are drawn to each other.

***

I didn’t like how it all started, though.

I don’t like it when the woman proposes first. She says, “Would you be interested in a fling?” and he agrees to it. And then, all along the book, she was in a begging mode most of the time.

***

Because of a photo taken by his fans, they find themselves in a fake-relationship, which is not that much of a fake at all.

Fiancé title might be the fake part of it but the attraction and the feelings are all real. The PDA is all real.

***

Dev falls for Audrey soon but they can never have a proper conversation of “We are dating for real”… Nope, pathetic!

And it is weird that even after he says he loves her, she still questions if their relationship is still fake or not. Heyyy, he said he loved you?!

***

The characters sometimes don't make sense. Dev is sometimes hot and sometimes cold. Audrey is sometimes sweet and sometimes clingy and jealous.

***

***

Loose ends, weak ending…
If you need a bonus epilogue, you need to sign the blah bla….
Nope, not interested in anything more, I even managed to finish it with lots and lots of skipping.

***

Writing: Dual point of view.

The book sometimes makes you feel, laugh or smile but the writing still needs refining since it doesn't flow. It is not fluent. The time jumps are not smooth. It sometimes feels like a copy-paste job.

***

Safety: No cheating. No sex scene with other people. No OW/OM drama.

Fake-relationship trope..... sign me up. I went into this vaguely knowing what to expect. My expectations were met but they weren’t exceeded. I’m not saying this book is bad, it definitely isn’t. It was just okay for me but it is a book worth reading.

Dev Sharpe is a famous model. A sexy hot famous male model. He garners attention whenever he is. He is currently in a bind because of a mix-up that viral and the person that can help with it is non other that his best friend’s sexy sister that he has inappropriate thoughts about. Audrey is like a sexy little siren to him. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts and they have no problem acting on it. There arrangement is perfect, fake-engagement with the added benefit of sex but these type of arrangements always have a way of getting blurry especially when you don’t know what is fake and what is real.

I did get irritated at Dev at times. His feelings were a bit murky to me and I didn’t like the way he handled some situations. I wanted Audrey to be more angry but that’s just how I am. I love my hero’s to grovel epically.

For the most part, it was a bit boring.

I didn't like that Dev was supposedly so taken with the heroine that he didn't even come home when her parents died. He was happily living his life dating other models and even a serious relationship where his girlfriend told him she was pregnant.

He ran hot and cold. It was exhausting and I hated that Audrey apologized at the end. My opinion: He should have groveled his ass off.

Safety: We know she was engaged and had a miscarriage 6 months ago. She was told she may not be able to have kids now. She had at least 2 lovers previously. Dev dated a string of model and at least 1 photographer for a year. He'd been celibate 7 months before Audrey.

The more I read the more I lost interest.

Audrey and Dev have not seen each other for a while, given Dev’s full time modelling career, but they are brought together again by Audrey’s brother’s wedding. By some accident Dev is caught on camera kneeling on one knee while picking up a ring in front of Audrey. Social media blows up and somehow Dev lands a major modelling contract which rides on him being engaged to Audrey and so begins a fake-relationship.

Audrey’s character was decent at the beginning but by the end she just annoyed me. Audrey just came off so… weak. Her constant crying and acting all possessive over Dev- one time going as far as internally calling someone a ‘whore’ because they showed interest in Dev was just grating. Also even Dev called her clingy so BLEUGH. Dev didn’t fare too well either, the last chunk of the book he was acting like a total arse. UGH. Also are these two “in love” with each other beyond physical attraction? Communication between the two was just pathetic as well. After being fake-engaged for a bit, Dev confesses that he is in love with Audrey rahrahrah and at this point you would expect the whole “where/what are we now” conversation but nope. Time jump, some chapters later- we get thrown a line where Audrey is questioning why Dev would get jealous when they’re not in a real relationship. This has me stumped. The guy confesses his feelings to you while you guys are fake-engaged but this changes nothing? because you are just faking even though you both have genuine feelings I DON’T EVEN KNOW. Just wot. I would have thought after confession of feelings that would at least lead to actual “dating” of some sort or progress their relationship?? SUCH A MESSY story.

Couldn't have skipped the drama towards the end fast enough. Was it necessary?

This book was a flop for me.

Dev and Audrey’s story is sweet and is definitely relatable to a lot of readers. A crush turned romance with your brother's best friend is every girl's dream isn’t it? Or is that just me! The story was written to pull on my heart strings!!

Our hero had an ex. She appeared several times as she was in the same biz as him. He was kinda of polite but gave her no encouragement. I want to say an evil ex but she seemed pretty nice except for the fact that she faked a pregnancy to trap him...not so nice. She realizes now how wrong she was to do that and it affected his trust in women.

The heroine, Audrey, is his neighbor and when he reconnects with her he has been celibate for seven months. I think she had been celibate since her engagement was broken, about six months. Her brother is his best friend...but you know how the bro code works. I liked our hero, Dev, and he wasn't about to let her brother stop him from being with the woman he was crazy about.

It begin when they see each other again at her brother's wedding and they plan a fake engagement that he needs for his career and status. She gets to play his loving fiance and travel the world with him whenever she is available. I liked that he was not a man-whore. I have no idea how much he had been around but after his break-up with the so-called baby mama faker he hadn't touched a women in seven months. He and Audrey had always had a thing for each other.

It was a sweet love story with a wonderful HEA and it was comedic throughout! I really enjoyed it.

What a fantastic surprise of a book!

Dev and Audrey have known each other for a long time. He is her brother's best friend. Five years older and also gorgeous. She's always had a crush on him, but you know how it goes, best friends little sister is off limits. He's now a big famous model sharing his life with the world but also trying to land a huge contract.

They are in Vegas to celebrate bros wedding. Dev hasn't seen Audrey in a couple of years, and he's totally smitten. She's in the middle of figuring out her life, while there, there is a mixup, which lands her engaged to Dev and traveling all over the world posing as his fiance'.

This story was very different from a brothers best friend romance. I loved that Dev loved wanting to be with Audrey. I loved reading his thoughts on his feelings for her. So sweet. It was such a fun, sweet, swoony, steamy read. Loved it.

Dev and Audrey knew each other forever. She was his best friend's annoying little sister, but now that she's all grown up the dynamics between them change. After a pretty laughable situation at her brother's wedding, they found themselves supposedly engaged! I liked how the readers get to see glimpses from India and the culture there; I never been but I want to one day. What really frustrated me through the book, was both there actions. The fact that they didn't communicate right, caused unnecessary drama. Dev is a real softie, and even though he's a model he has insecurities too. In Audrey's mind he's perfect and she believes that she can't measured up to that.

This book is a pretty good rom-com! It's a light read, so it's suitable for a nice afternoon reading!

A brother’s best friend forbidden romance. I absolutely love these kinds of books, they one of my favourite kinds to read.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

Audrey’s crushed on Dev for as long as she can remember but she’s always been off limits to him being her brother’s best friend and all.

Meeting again after a few years have passed has Dev taking a second look at Audrey, she’s changed, she’s different and he’s interested. A mixup happens leaving her engaged to him and travelling around the world posing as his fiancé.

This book was so different compared to other books I’ve read like this. Nikky Kaye put her own spin on it and it’s been absolute fun to read. This is my first read from this author and I loved it.

Model Fiancé is a funny, swoony and seriously hot read. A romcom you won’t want to let go by you without reading.

What made me confused :

Her cheeks were as pink as the dress she wore, and I stepped back to admire them both."You look beautiful," I said. The simple blue silk dress matched her eyes.

So is the dress pink or blue? Those little things bother me a bit too much.. I know it's something little but it doesn't help my mind. I think it also was because I found it hard to get into.

I liked it, but didn't love it! It took me also 4days to finish it that says a lot for me, especially when there is a weekend in between. There also were a few things that didn't work for me.
The drama started at around 88% and there wasn't even a epilogue (until you subscribe to her newsletter.).

Such a good RomCom!!!

This is not your typical brothers best friend type of read!

Audrey might be young, but she definitely does not act like it. Her parents died when she was in HS and even though her brother stepped up to take care of her, she had to grow up fast. Now in present day she is reeling from the break up with her fiance which not only hurt, but hurt because she feels as if it was her fault and this has left her a little broken.

Dev is absolutely the definitely of a sexy older brother's best friend. Not only that, but he is a legit model to top it off! He himself had been burned in the past as well due to an ex. He has not even seen Audrey in years and is being crashed into it.

You can tell from the beginning that this is going to be a crazy roller coaster ride so that all you can do is strap yourself in to read it. Audrey and Dev accidentally get themselves in a predicament in which all of his followers believe that they are engaged. Not only that, but this also helped entice a HUGE contract for Drew in which the company owners are extremely family oriented.

This story is complicated, sweet, hot, awkward, random, and absolutely amazing. Nothing moved too fast or too slow and showed just the right situations in between.

4.5 outta 5 from me and I highly recommend!

PS: I received this book as an ARC in return for my honest opinion!

Dev is often times unfocused, "...it was a misunderstanding, a joke. People can’t actually think it was—hey, my eyes are up here!”I dragged my gaze from her nipples poking through her simple black swimsuit, trying to look abashed. Mostly." Dev is always the charming one, "Dev bent his head down to mine. “Baby, your phone isn’t your most valuable asset.” Then he pinched my butt." I liked this book, I fell in love with Dev.

DNF because of large inconsistencies such as:

Her cheeks were as pink as the dress she wore, and I stepped back to admire them both. “You look beautiful,” I said.
The simple blue silk dress matched her eyes. It skimmed over her body and stopped just above her knees, the wide neckline framing her collarbone like it was a work of art.

Then a few paragraphs later she's wearing a pink dress again.

This took far longer to get through than it should have.

The first half was all smut and the second half was spent actually developing the relationship. It might not have been so bad except it meant I had no investment in Dev and Audry until after the 60% mark and quite frankly, didnt even start to like them until that point, either as a couple or as individuals. If things had been the other way around I might have liked it more, as ot was it was only ok, which was actually an improvement from my initial feelings about it

Romance by accident in the spotlight
I liked this well written romance of Nikky Kaye. The principle is quite simple, two childhood friends (Dev and the sister of his childhood friend, Audrey), are found by accident engaged by the media. But when Dev has the opportunity to get a model $ 5 million contract for a large company if he presents a family-friendly, he asks Audrey to play the game. Both have been attracted for years, the link between them seems inevitable, but the boundary between reality and false relationship remains fine, all in the spotlight of the media because of Dev's celebrity.
The story pleased me a lot thanks to the style of the author who kept my attention, all along the questioning of Audrey whose past holds it back, as well as their doubts. I found quite original how the two heroes find themselves completely engaged by accident because of the media.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

Honestly? I got really quite bored with this one. I can't quite put my finger on why but I just wasn't feeling it. I was tempted to give it one or two stars but I will give the author the benefit of the doubt because my dislike could have stemmed from my overall "blah" mood.

Super hot and surprisingly sweet friends-to-lovers romance. Surprising in a good way! Dev is an in-demand male model but his heart has always beat double time for his best friend's younger sister, Audrey. And now that they're not teenagers anymore? Holy chemistry, Batman.

I also really loved the details about India.

I wanted to read this because the hero is half Indian and I was even more keen once I realised a portion of the book would be in India.

I'm of Indian heritage and I was excited to see the representation because Indian characters are still rare in romance. Also fake relationship and best friend's sibling are several of my favourite tropes!

By chapter 10 the book wasn't working for me, mostly because it didn't have the things I associate with being Indian. For some reason the hero's mum (she's the Indian parent) is hardly in his life, and as there's no mention of a falling out with her this is mega unusual. One phone call a day for a child away from home is normal and multiple calls aren't unusual. There's no extended family, there's no food, there's none of the little everyday things I do that are different to little everyday things non-indian-heritage people do.

Admittedly, I'm not that far into the book but half the reason I wanted to read this story is not there and I'm done.

This book started off with a very promising start. It made me very invested in the story and the dialogue was well constructed.
The chemistry was undeniable between the characters and I couldn’t wait to see what happens next. Especially with the unexpected “proposal” situation.

It was all well until the couple went to India for Dev’s job. It was alright from his point of view, but it does kind of bug me that Audrey is so judgmental of a new culture that she doesn’t know or understand.

I also started to lose interest very fast after the “proposal” scene. I don’t know if it was the fact that Audrey was still hooked on her past, or the fact that Dev only used her to solidify his contract (which I understand) and basically continued to remind us, readers, of why he would continue the scheme of them being engaged.

For now this book is on my DNF list and I have no idea if I will get back to it in the future or not, but for now, I just want to enjoy what I am reading and not feel any kind of discomfort or annoyance towards any of the books I read.
