Feel too stupid to read an actual book on Java programming? You just might be. Start here with Java for Fucking Idiots. Written by a recovering idiot, this book will walk you through the very fundamentals of Java at a pace you can follow, and with a structure that makes sense. I make absolutely minimal assumptions about your background throughout the entire book. I avoid using overly complex examples, provide simple code snippets and metaphors, and in general have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. But I wrote a book, so yeah what the hell, why not. Join me on an adventure to learn Java, read some awful "jokes", cite no sources, and you know what? Maybe along the way, we'll learn something about ourselves, too. *NEW in the 2nd edition* A bonus chapter covering more of the basics of computing and how they related to Java!
5 not-so-idiotic starz for this entertaining and informative intro to Java. If only all Java books could be written like this <3
I honestly do not think anyone could present the very fundamentals of Java in a simpler fashion. After getting myself stuck, this book helped me understand some key concepts and now I am back on track. The humor helps a lot, as I often found myself laughing out loud and thus I became more relaxed and more motivated to keep on reading. Also, it is obvious that this book was written by someone who actually uses Java on a regular basis. Those insights into the programming practices of a Java dev were interesting for me ^^
All in all> excellent book and a must for Java beginners (of course, in conjunction with other books/courses usw.).
Thank you very much, Mr Brown, and I do hope you will keep writing :)
If you have been programming with Java in the past and want to recall basics of the language, this book can be a very nice weekend read for you.
IMHO best way to support reading is searching concepts, those basics on web as a side activity.
Java comes with additional libraries, notations in different releases but standard library and standard way of working with the language does not change much.
This book helps you to get into Object Oriented Programming with Java once again in a very short period of time.
Good book. Fun read. Mr. Brown really simplified some programming concepts that I hadn't really understood and just pretended to understand. Now I'm less of a fucking idiot than I was before I read the book.
I don’t consider myself an idiot on Java anymore, thanks to this book! Seriously though. Informative and offensive in the same amount. Highly recommended for people starting with code!
