Tales of Olympus #3

Queen of the Underworld

Rate this book
The King of the Underworld saved me from the streets,
Treated me like a princess,
And locked me in a tower.
Then he turned into a beast.
There's a darkness in him.
I've seen it face to face.
He says I'm his light.
But if our love is going to last,
I'm going to have to be more than his princess.
I need to become a Queen.

The final chapter in Marcus and Cora's story.

This installment starts 2 months After the conclusion of the previous installment…

I really try to finish this book especially after all I had invested in it my time and my energy and due to my OCD brain couldn’t handle not finishing this Trilogy …. I only say that because of the previous two installments I had so much trouble getting through it…….

It had been two months since Persephone has seen or spoken to her husband, beyond the text she’d sent telling him that she was leaving him as she fled his Estate. Of course she’d known that wouldn’t be the end of it. This was Hades Ubeli they were talking about

Persephone was now running her own business as event planning company with help of her friends

God how I hated Persephone acting like a spoil teenager 98% in this series And then bam she was a big girl now The Queen of the Titans

Honestly, I don’t know how or understand how within a few chapters this lady went from an innocent naïve young woman to a crime queen in the blink of an eye …. to me this just didn’t make sense

Another thing I couldn’t figure out was why Hades didn’t kill Hermes for giving Persephone the designer drugs

It took over 794 pages and two authors for us to understand these two characters properly

This is the end of the trilogy of Cora and Marcus. I enjoyed the series, the ending was alright. However, it was surreal how Cora just changed suddenly. I know she needed to be strong, and it's fitting but I don't know, it just didn't felt right that she abruptly changed. Marcus is still the alpha male he was, but he became almost a lovesick puppy in this book. I understand the changes but it just felt something was lacking. I loved the chemistry between the protagonist. This book has flaws but yet the author pulled it off well, a really good adaptation of Hades and Persephone from Greek mythology.

2.5 Slightly disappointed stars

This series started out with a bang and it slowly turned into something I didn’t like reading. My main problem with the last book of the series was the way it was told. I didn’t care for the “secret” storyline. I loath the secret storyline. You know, where one of the characters, either the Hero or Heroine holds a secret from the other. Almost ALL problems could be solved had they just had a conversation. These storylines are easy, typical and a cop-out in my opinion.

With that said, I needed to finish the series because my OCD brain couldn’t handle it.

I liked the book had steam. But I didn’t like the pacing of the book.

I felt like where the book ended was where the book should have sort of began in the first place. The entire second book was Cora and Marcus fighting, I thought the 3rd of the book would resolve that. BUT nope. Cora was still fighting Marcus and when you finally understand her reasoning, I was like REALLY?!

It’s hard to write a smutty book with a good storyline. I get it. Most smutty books are novellas and everything is surface. I also wouldn’t call this book smutty, but it’s definitely steamy.

I just think the writing needs to be more polished. AND please don’t use the “secret” storyline anymore.

I have mix feelings about this book, I really enjoyed the series but the ending through me off. Cora Ubeli the innocent as they portrayed her the entire series ran from her mobster husband after seeing her husband brutally killed AJ a rival who worked for the Titan's and who kidnapped her and threaten their livelihood. Cora decided she could not take the life style and started to build her own life. Cora moved in with her friends Olivia and Anna the girl she saved. Started a business and finally moved into her own apartment. However what was so unbelievable is the dominate alpha/mob boss of the underworld allowed her. With how he took her, tricked her into marrying him with all the control he has running the city he allowed innocent Cora to control him in this way. Yes Marcus Ubeli started to love his wife but no way would he allow anyone to control him. The second thing is when did Cora grow balls they played up the entire series how young and innocent she was, yes she was from a mob family herself, rivals of her husband but she lived on a farm all her life. Now she takes over her mother & uncles territory in Metropolis where Titan's ruled, even killing a capo who would not go along with the new regime. Although it was a great series the ending was a little far fetch. Good thing I love reading Fiction.

…. and I'm out....

I just can’t any more. This one picks up a few months after Awakening ended with Cora leaving Marcus after she witnessed him torture AJ. This is my point about Cora not being the right h type for dark mafia…she left Marcus because he killed AJ, who had just killed her friend Iris, and tried to kill her and Marcus!!?? On top of that, she’s TSTL, takes pills from people, puts herself in dangerous situations…I suspect she’s going to go all CRAZY at the end to you know… become the Queen of the Underworld, but by that time we’ll be almost 3 books in of her being stupid/silly, and that shit will be unbelievable. I’m all out of patience.

What in the hell just happened in this book!?!?!?! So much shit to unpack. This conclusion was an intensely wild and crazy to end the series. I’m not quite sure I liked book3 all the way, how it played out simply because it’s a stark turnaround of certain characters that just wasn’t convincing and believable. From book 1 Marcus was heavy handed and cruel delivered dark romance to graphic mafia violence to his meek Cora. Then the story morphing into a menage orgy fest and heavy drugs then good girl gone badass??? Phew this was a lot. So many twists and turns. I was shooked but not overly impressed on some parts.

Cora dear. How else can you set yourself up to be kidnapped, assaulted, drugged...Oh let me count the ways. Cora had a death wish and she might have purposely inadvertently (yes if that makes sense) set herself up. It’s as if you are watching a horror film and know when you hear a sound you do NOT run towards it you go stage left and haul ass!!! What is this girl doing. In book 1, I chalked it up to naïveté, in book 2, I was giving her a pass because well she was foolishly in love and wanted to learn her way around the big city, but here we are in book 3...I’ve got nothing and I officially have to say she’s got to be the dumbest person ever even if she did get braver. Even I’m fed up with her stupidity and I was charmed by her innocence for a while but I mostly wanted to ring her neck. It’s almost mockingly unbelievable that Cora turned queen. This was so over the top by the ending that I just couldn’t help but to just enjoy the ride of this ridiculousness. “Long live the Queen.”

But seriously what happened to Marcus? What we get from this book is Marcus overwhelming love and devotion to Cora and Cora finally growing a backbone (not brain cells though). He was once this hard intense crime boss that controlled every aspect and now....was chasing Cora around like a lost puppy. The alpha fizzed.

The sex was just over the top. Again. Like a lot. Just embrace your inner smut, slut and... be opened minded....you might quite get a kick out of it. Or just 😆 freak.

Not only was this series hot, it was a wild crazy ride! I didn’t know what I was getting into but alas it was good and got better. Glad I stuck it out. I did like this story throughout. Enjoy!

Wow!! This is the conclusion of Marcus and Cora’s story. It starts about two months after Cora ran. It was an emotional rollercoaster of emotions reading this. I loved to see Cora grow in this book. She grew into the Queen she was meant to be. There is suspense, action, lies, secrets, deceit, forgiveness, anger, hurt light, darkness and twists and turns. Marcus wants Cora back and is willing to do what it takes to do that. I don’t want to give anything away. You need to read it. If you haven’t read any of these, start with Innocence, you will be hooked. The two authors did a fantastic job with the storyline and all the characters.

One of my favorite quotes:
“You’re mine. You’ve always been mine. ‘Til the day we die and beyond. ‘Til stars fall and this world is forgotten. Forever.”

Trying to find a way to write how I feel about books lately hasn’t been my kind of thing but I know when I decide on reviewing I will write on how I think of said books.

Like right now this review will be based on all three books. I went into this series of course based on the blurbs but sometimes you know it’s either yay or nay, but I found the characters in this series are likeable and here I go the age gap 🤦🏽‍♀️ is what disappoints me sometimes like personally you’re a little to young or he’s to old for her 🤦🏽‍♀️ but if the story is readable you’ll have to just go with it and gloss over her age.

I actually like Marcus, yet sometimes he’s abit overbearing but I think it’s due to his age and Cora was a little too immature and naive at times. But was I prepared for how everything turned out, yes and no.

Queen of the Underworld is where everything unravelled and gurl can I say the shock 😯 of it all you’ll never know and yep it’s series that I totally enjoyed and all I wanted was for Cora to really grow a backbone and did I love her in the end.

It's two days after finishing this one and I'm still disappointed, three books by the same couple and for what? for this, seriously? fuck I don't even know where to start but here it goes...

It's obvious that this trilogy declined more and more as it progressed but with this last book it goes to the underworld of which Marcus is the proclaimed king.

Sharo is the most sensible and interesting character in the trilogy and the one I like the most, probably because the poor man has no more than three complete lines in the whole story.

Marcus, I said it before: we started off on the wrong foot because he humiliated Cora worse than shit on the sole of his expensive Italian shoes. However, having said that, who the hell are you and what did you do with the real Marcus? his conduct towards Cora, well let's say I find it hard to believe that a Capo with his power and reputation allows his wife to leave him in the middle of the night and he willingly does nothing.

Cora, I'm just going to say that her stupidity level is off the charts here and I slowly withdraw...

Fantastic conclusion to this series. Cora has changed so much from the beginning. She is one "badass"! I loved this book. There was so much happening from beginning to end. Marcus is his usual overprotective, controlling underworld boss. Cora puts him in his place. I highly recommend this series!

This is the conclusion to Marcus & Cora's story, and in some senses it's a biggie, in others, not sure what to make of it. I do know this, any story that can keep me turning the pages while I stay jacked up with emotions, then it's a 5 star read for me. Since it's the 3rd book & the conclusion, YOU HAVE TO READ Innocence (Book 1) & Awakening (Book 2) FIRST AND IN ORDER, especially since these two are very complicated. Now, it's been a couple of months since Cora fled from her marriage to Marcus, and she's started over, going as far as to starting her own business. However, Marcus feels like the 2 months is enough time to be away, so he shows up at her first party throwing her back into chaos. At first, I was like good for you, stand your ground, but then Cora just got annoying as all hell. Marcus was in danger, which in his world means that there's a big possibility that she's in danger as well. However, she didn't listen to anyone because she knew best, and got herself in more than one mess. Her back & forth was frustratingly painful, while Marcus showed up as someone I didn't recognize. That's not to say that I didn't love his new heart, but honestly, it was shocking that he didn't figure things out on his own with some of the things his wife was doing. Obviously, that means there were twists & turns, some that kept me guessing, while others that had me rolling my eyes. And when Cora was finally ready to become the powerful wife she could be, Marcus was nowhere to be found. So how did she become Queen of the Underworld?! And did she every work it out with her husband?! You'll have to read it for yourselves to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HIGHLY EMOTIONAL RIDE!

3 - 3.5

Ok ending, a tad out of character but ok. It seemed to me that all powerful Marcus was not so powerful in this one. He wasn’t on top of anything and wasn’t a player in the power game. He seemed a step behind and totally out of character. Everyone knew more then he did even Cora. Didn’t get why his character diminished way off and Cora just seemed to become a brain child mob boss?! Had problems with this series from the start and guess I still do.

Books one and two Innocence and Awakening should be read before jumping into this story.

Marcus and Cora’s story concludes in this story and it’s a brilliant conclusion. In fact it’s my favourite in this trilogy. I’m not sure how many times I wanted to slap a character or how many times I held my breath.

All the feelings and emotions was running through me. I literally inhaled this story in a day. I could not put it down.
I’ll definitely be reading more from these authors in the future.

"His beautiful enemy. And then, instead of destroying her like he’d meant to, he’d gone and fallen in love with her. And she’d changed everything."

I have seen the rating and read other reviews....all of which make me feel like I just missed something OR saw too much along the way in this series. Giving it 3 stars is as far as I can go, because I cannot give any of the three books in this series the same amount of stars reserved for the absolutely earth-shattering, knock you on your ass books I've read.....

That isn't to say this series was awful. In the first 2 books I thought the overall plot and storyline were brilliant and interesting, the writing was the issue for me. Those same issues carried over into this book, along with lacking some of the intrigue I had with the previous ones. I stuck with it until the end, but I can't say I'm sad its over.

Told in a third person dual POV, the final installment of Cora and Marcus' journey ends with their HEA. Picking up where Awakening left off, we follow Cora as she tries to make a life for herself away from Marcus. But outside forces threaten everything and everyone they care for, and they realize that they need each other to defeat those that stand against them.

Here are the issues:

The ending is one big WTF just happened moment. We are dragged through a lot of pointless plot where things are painfully obvious and slow moving, only to suddenly have everything wrap up at breakneck speed. Prepare for whiplash, because after everything gets resolved without "warming up" to those events, we are dropped a type of epilogue that does nothing but set up for the next book....dropping us in the middle of a conversation involving characters that literally makes NO SENSE and relates in no way to what we want to know about our two underworld rulers.

Cora literally transforms into a totally different person for the conclusion to happen. I mean no build up or anything....one minute she can't even own up to being to blame for the whole drug confiscation disaster or walk down the street without getting herself in deep shit to suddenly knowing how to rule an entire criminal faction and being a criminal mastermind. At like 19/20 years old.....its almost like the authors ran out of time but knew where they wanted it to go, and Cora woke up with a lifetime of knowledge as a crime boss. And in order to do this, they had to make Marcus look like he hadn't been literally ruling over an entire city for years and years.

The "Sleepwalking" scene is ridiculous and quite possibly the most cringe worthy scene in the history of my book reading life. The things that are said and the actions of Cora....

....it could have been toned way down and still given us the same overall "effect".

The entire book basically centered around Marcus not being the intelligent crime boss we know him as. I mean he knows every single thing that goes on in his city and has so many different people in his pocket, yet he has no idea about the drugs or whats going on half the time. We are slapped in the face with the info he needs constantly only for it to come to light towards the end. Instead of creating a new issue and keep the pace and plot moving, we were stuck on an issue that he could have resolved within the first few chapters.

And finally, the grammar and proofing errors. For two well established authors, I don't understand how so many issues passed by so many sets of eyes without anyone catching them.
Sharo had been such a study constant in his life.

As much as the tease to the new book seems interesting, I think these last 3 books were it for me and these authors.....it might be me being used to a different style of writing (Shen, Douglas, Winters, March, Sky, etc), but something just didn't click for me.

Book: Queen of the Underworld
Author: Lee Savino and Stasia Black
Recommend: Yes
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️
Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years

Plot:
Book 3 starts with Cora living with her 2 friends Olivia and Anna. Marcus left her alone for nearly 2 months before he found her at a party and approached her to talk about coming home to him. Cora says no and spends even longer avoiding him after that. She moves out into her own apartment, and ends up kidnapped by Waters. Marcus comes and saves her again, and tells her she needs to come home to him, She again says no. He gives her some of his Shades to keep her safe, and then goes into hiding himself, but comes out again after Cora runs from a party, then runs to the hospital to see her friend.
They get back together again, but when Marcus finds out about her running away to save Iris (Book2) he leaves her. Sends all her clothes to her apartment and stops taking her calls. She think that he has left her, he is then photographed with an ex lover and Cora thinks he is sleeping with her. She calls Sharo and asks him, they end up making a plan to take down Titans by getting Waters to be the middle ground. In the end they take down titans and her mother is killed by Sharo. Sharo is shot and ends up in a coma. Cora and Marcus finally get back together properly and find out she is pregnant. The Book ends with a HEA 3 years later.

My feelings:

Once again im here saying that this book is a emotional rollercoaster.
I wanted to DNF cause it was just so up and down. I didnt understand there relationship. I mean why didhe chase her down then run away again when she told him the truth. HE said no more running…..

“What you didn’t understand was that you had the power. All along.”

Marcus I don’t care how god dam sexy you are, you turn into a massive sap. I liked the possessive nature you had in book 1. But by the end you turned into this romantic sap. Not cool.

“Mia moglie. Sono pazzo di te.” My wife. I’m crazy for you. Gentle words as his body was anything but.

Cora, I don’t understand how she went from innocent to crime queen in one book. I wanted her to evolve with Marcus at her side, not by herself, to me that didnt make sense. Marcus knows how the world works and would have made more sense If he helped her.

“Anything? Then let go baby.” He used his fingers, strumming her like an instrument until she broke perfectly under him. “Because all I ever wanted was you. Just as you are.”

I also don’t know why that designer dude wasn’t killed for the drugs he gave her. I mean come on Marcus is meant to be nuts, but he didnt kill him. Makes no sense to me.

Sharo needed a better ending. Like maybe falling for Anna or Olivia?? Just something more then working 24/7.

So do I recommend…. Yes cause I think if a book can cause this much thinking then its good. But also no if you cannot handle a book taking over your life.

"He pulled back from her and pressed his forehead to hers. “We’re going to have a baby,” he whispered. Her big blue eyes blinked up at him, wide with astonishment. Her hand slid between them to her stomach. “A baby,” she said in awe. “Your baby.” “You’ve made me the happiest man alive. I love you. Forever.” The words were an understatement. They always would be. But he would spend the rest of his life proving them to his wife. His beloved. His Queen.”

The audio was amazing but, the narrater did a very good job, and made Marcus very very sexy.

Jesussssssssss.
Cora is fucking irritating, immature, a coward, bratty, annoyingly stubborn, pathetic and a major hypocrite.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Push, pull.

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

Should I tell him? Should I not tell him?

@ 46%

The push and fucking pull continues.

Cora: ““I’m yours, Marcus.” Her blue eyes were crystal clear as she admitted the truth. “I always will be. You know it and I know it. So claim what’s yours and don’t hold back.””

Also Cora: “She pulled back from him, quick enough that he lost hold of her. “Last night didn’t change anything. It was…” She shook her head and threw her hands up in the air. “Okay, well, I don’t know exactly what last night was. A timeout from the real world. Two adults blowing off steam, I guess.”

This is a huge pet peeve of mine when reading a book.
Annoying fucking heroine that plays this game, can’t resist hero’s cock so she fucks him, then goes back to “this doesn’t change anything”

I’m skimming over pages at this point. This whole series started off at a 3 star, made its way quickly down to 1 star.

Desperately trying to finish this book.

That’s all that’s fucking happening as of now and I’m about to lose my shit and throw this book to the DNF shelf.

Update: @ 65% Cora has finally gotten her head out of her ass. If there’s more push & pull after this, I’m fucking done.

DNF @ 88%

I just can’t. I’m so disappointed, this series had a strong start but book 2 started the downhill fall and book 3 fucking murdered it.

There was a little more continued push and pull, for different reasons this time by Marcus. I was hoping he was going to dump her (heroine) ass and keep it that way. I would’ve actually been happy with that ending.
That’s how much Cora pissed me off.

The entire push & pull game really killed this read for me. I couldn’t continue reading with the same hope or enjoyment I had in book 1.

The ending, where I stopped reading finally, was beyond rushed and so contradictory to the usual character personalities it was laughable.
Cora turned into some mob fighting little badass (yes that’s mockery) at the last minute despite her being a cowardly mouse majority of the time.

The entire plot had potential to end this series amazingly but instead it just got extremely messy, confusing, annoying and exhausting. Way too drawn out in my opinion.

I may read from these authors in the future however I will NOT read their other cliffhanger series’. I think I’ll try a stand-alone next time.

Bentornate a New Olympus Fenici!

A chi importa cosa fa per vivere, nessuno è perfetto no?

This is the third book in the series and they need to be read in order.
Cora Ubeli has had enough of her life being controlled and has made a decision to live her own life. Yet that doesn’t mean she is without the protection of Marcus’s men who are still keeping her safe from his enemies.
Soon she sees that his enemies will stop at nothing to destroy him and use her as a pawn and way of controlling Marcus as she was his only weakness.
Will Cora be able to stand up for herself and put everything together before it’s too late?
This was such a great conclusion filled with so many twists and turns that kept me gripped and I couldn’t put the book down!
I loved in this book how Cora really followed her own mind while still trying to figure out what she wanted from Marcus and trying to figure out how to keep safe with a turf war going on. I was happy when Marcus finally opened up to her about everything that was going on which really allowed her to understand everything and put everything together.
The night at Armand’s was very interesting and once again you saw how close she was to danger with the events right after. I was so broken hearted when Cora finally confessed about how she knew Pete and what happened next.
I was glad when Cora was able to get certain things out in the open and figure out about certain key characters. I was holding my breath for the “dog event” and things were looking promising until all hell broke loose and I was freaking out for sure!
The very end was awesome and I was so proud of Cora and how she found her happy ever after!!

She found her independence.
In this book she takes control, not leaning on Marcus or being ordered around you her mother. She has finally became her own person.

It was very beautiful to read how she spread her wings and flyaway one her own.
But it wasn’t easy leaving him it broke her in someways but a bit of distance was good for them both to move forward together later.

The thing that graded on my nerves was her reckless with her safety, even though she had been kidnapped a few times. But that did not knock some sense in to her she kept ditching her bodyguards.
I could understand her not wanting him to know her every move but “ woman you is/were married a mob boss who has a lot of enemies, don’t be so naive”.
After the second or third attempt she finally learned that keeping them around was the smarter choice.

There was more romance in this book in comparison with the second book. They did not fight there was more fear of being rejected or being left alone. Which in turn led to them disagreeing.
He wanted her back mean while she was scared that when all truths comes out he would leave so she did it first on her turns.

There connection and electricity was only growing between the two and the more intimate moment together was really hot.

There relationship has definitely been a rollercoaster but there ending was incredibly beautiful.

The queen has risen from the ashes and becomed one with her King.

This book went downhill. It had a lot of mistakes. For example : Sharo called Marcus and told him he had Cora. After call he told Cora that Marcus in on his way. Two pages later, Cora asked where is Marcus, and Sharo said he's hiding currently. I mean um, wasn't he like suppose to come now to her?

Also, telenovela on steroids. It was like D day shooting non stop. I couldn't concentrate of amount of drama what kept going. Adding whole different characters and their love life what was irrelevant. There were many happenings what were irrelevant and didn't add anything to the story.

Now, about characters. Cora grew a lot from book one to book three. She became a queen. In the end she did things, what were bit overkill, but oh well. But, at the same time, you know after shabang with AJ and shootings, she was running around like nobody will touch her. WTF, I would be paranoid AF! Like agreeing 100 bodyguards and not taking unnecessary risks.

Marcus. He lost his balls on third book. Became sappy piece of nothingness, it showed with his absolute shit ruling skills. Couldn't be anymore proper mafia boss, also left his wife wide open to kidnappings and other things.

But first two he was controlling. Yeah, I get he fell in love but you don't change a man like that with one book.

It was a clusterfuck. This book definitely should have gone differently or just shouldn't have happened.

Marcus and Cora continue their life among much drama and strife. There were jus too many lies and secrets, I never thought could be straightened out. Many enemies made for an uncertain life, future and happiness I felt, but they all made for a stronger personality for Cora and lots of worry and sadness for Marcus. I loved Sharo from the first book right to the last. I would be very happy to hear more about him in the future. I am happy this story has ended, those needing it didn't make it to the end, but those I cheered for did and we got a rewarding climax with a HEA.

Cora annoyed the shit out of me for the majority of the book. Then I realized the foundation of the book annoyed me. If he wasn’t a asshole in the first with revenge then maybe she wouldn’t be second guessing that this man is really her soulmate . Then she was like I still believe in the cops and a world like that and I’m like really sis still I’m like hey with the program.

In the end I’m happy that she got with the program. She took control of her mother gang. Now she the Ice Queen, the New Queen of the underworld.

And the baby 🍼 that was cute

Oh my God!! In the final book, we find out just how strong Cora really is. There is suspense, danger, anger, lies and a lot of twists and turns. While I'm not really a dark romance reader, this trilogy has been a page turner. You need to read the first two books or you'll be lost but trust me, you will want too. Will Marcus get Cora back? You should just get the book to find out! Well done ladies!!!

Fantastic conclusion to this trilogy. Being a fan of mythology, I loved the chance to see it retold in a new way. I'm excited that this world is going to open up new stories and characters to have their story told in a newer version. I will revolt if Sharo doesn't get his story told though so I hope the authors have that in the works.

I'm very excited to see what in in store. I recommend everyone to fall in love with Marcus and Cora.

What an amazing story, it sizzles from the first page to the last and takes the reader on a roller coaster of an emotional ride. The transformation of Cora was inevitable and a clever twist in the plot. I needed to finish the book but now I am sad it is over, I really, really enjoyed it, it was brilliant.
