Signs of Love #2

Escorpio odia a Virgo

Rate this book
De lo que se trata este ao es de que te recuperes, escorpio. Ha llegado la hora de deshacerte de la negatividad y de esa fachada de to duro, para permitir que otros vean a tu verdadero yo, a tu yo ms vulnerable.

Percy Freedman no est sufriendo.

Romance a fuego lento.
Gnero: romntica joven. Romance contemporneo gay. Novela ligera.

Si te gust Leo quiere a Aries , te apetecer este romance a fuego lento con una pareja que no sabes cmo o cundo acabar junta, lleno de conversaciones sarcsticas y de una deliciosa tensin sexual no resuelta.

noun / semi. co. lon

Definition of SEMICOLON
: a powerful grammatical tool that, used appropriately, turns Cal on.

I need no other reasons to love Cal, but there are more:

He's a Virgo (like me); ← (semicolon used appropriately); he likes dinosaur T-shirts (the ones with T. rex are Percy's favorite); he puts his family ahead of everything (including his education, which isn't so great); he's all about the gnomes (don't assume you know anything about gnome secrets, because you don't); and sometimes he lies just a little to get what he wants.

Percy is a Scorpio and doesn't trust easily. Returning to the cul-de-sac where his beloved aunt lived, Percy wants to sell her house and move on; ← (again) he can't handle the memories. Percy is prickly and keeps people at a distance. He doesn't want to try because everyone always leaves.

Despite Percy's insistence that Cal is his nemesis, Percy and Cal are not enemies. They're not even frienemies. They're involved in an intricate mating dance that began years ago when Percy fell off his bike in front of a shirtless Cal.

[A]nd instead of asking if Percy was okay or needed an ice pack, [Cal]'d shaken his head and delivered the first verbal grenade, "All elegance, that was."

Sometimes the best relationships begin by accident and are forged in the valley of banter and denial.

Cal and Percy aren't clueless; ← (are you turned on yet?) they're stubborn. Percy refuses to fall for his straight (or is he?) neighbor, even as Cal pushes the boundaries of their friendship.

The secondary characters are awesome. One of Percy and Cal's neighbors is Crystal, Theo and Leone's mom, so, YES, we do see Theo and Jamie again, and they play a mean game of zombie rescue.

The UST between Percy and Cal is OFF THE CHARTS! While the loooong slow burn was incredibly frustrating, it was also erotic as hell. The verbal flirting, the lingering touches, THAT kiss ... by the time these men got together, I needed a cold shower and a cigarette (and I don't even smoke).

I had a few small niggles with the plot, which at times veered toward the TOO cutesy, but overall I loved this quirky, funny, and endearing story.

I surely hope there are more Signs to come.

noun / com. mit. ment

Definition of COMMITMENT
: spending a lot of time together
: buying mugs
: Cal tying Percy's shoelaces ...
: calling Percy out on their fake nemesizing ...
: CAL AND PERCY

Perseus vs, Callaghan

Well,this is just adorable!
This Author is one of the best at creating the cutest couples, mixed with a bit of sexiness, sassiness and a whole lot of delicious banter.

Percy was 17 when he was kicked out of home and went to live with Aunt Abby in the Cape Cod cul-de-sac,a charming place full of quirky residents. From the moment he met Cal their verbal sparring started.

Now both men are back for family reasons and the war of words between them certainly shows so sign of letting up.

This was a joy to read from start to finish,

-Percy and Cal are nothing short of adorable together.Cal has the whole sexy nerd thing going on while Percy has the sarcasm down to a fine art.

-the sexual tension was delicious, from the lingering looks to the hidden meaning behind their words.Yes,it's a slow burn physically between them but it was just perfect.

-hanging out with Cal's family who I loved.

-the wonderful neighbours who all look out for each other.

-Theo and Jamie's appearance was the icing on the cake.

All the love for this one!

Thank you.

I want to say thank you to all the people that supported and encouraged me to write Percy and Cal's story. My wonderful editors Teresa and HJS Editing, Devil in the Detail proofreader, alpha and beta readers (Sunne, Vicki, Wolfgang, Myth, also Vir for the extra epilogue), the amazing Natasha Snow cover designer, quality control readers, and you awesome readers! You're all amazing, and awesome, and I really can't thank you enough.

For this book, I want to give a special shout-out to my husband, who endlessly listened to my plot points and revised plot points, and who happily snapped up the draft to be one of my first beta readers.
(His moon-sign is Virgo, and I caught him laughing at some of the things Cal did/said, because maybe, just maybe he recognized himself... I mean ... hell, he is so drily sarcastic that whenever we are out, I find myself adding disclaimers to the conversation, lest anyone overhearing actually believe him.)

He's also such a wonderful family man, and he was there supporting me when our baby woke up every hour of the night until he was 14months. And he's still there, being my zombie-partner-in-crime when we stumble out of bed at 4 to walk our baby around the streets of Berlin.

It's been 12 years and I'm more and more in love with him everyday. Just how I imagine things developing for Cal and Percy!

So, thank you, beautiful!

This review pains me to write because I adore Anyta Sunday, but I struggled to give this book even 2-stars.

Everyone else seems to love this one, so something must be wrong with me. I could barely get through the book.

The writing seemed... off to me throughout the story. It was sort of all over the place, with a plot that centered more on the neighborhood dynamics than the two MCs themselves.

I also was really looking forward to an enemies-to-lovers story, but this wasn't actually that at all. It was a faux enemies-to-lovers story, which, I can assure you, is nowhere near as satisfying.

I'm all for the slow, slow burn, but this was so slow burn that I lost interest. There wasn't enough chemistry, enough sexual tension, enough something for me to maintain my interest. It was all very anticlimactic.

I didn't like Frank or the fact that Cal pushed Percy to reconnect with him, I thought Cal didn't give enough of himself to Percy, and I thought the book was full of side plot and tangents that distracted from the romance.

I'm sticking with 2-stars, at the moment, but... yeah, I'm feeling meh.

4 STARS!

This turned out to be quite the charming story. So many different unique characters made this story enjoyable.

Percy and Cal sure did take there time getting together. I enjoyed their angsty dance. I liked their banter. But most of all, I liked them together. A lot of the times I have a big issue with reading a book where the characters take the entirety of the book to actually couple up. But I must admit the waiting in this book was a sweet kind of torture. Plus the author was good about filling the book up with other stuff that was going on.

At a young age Percy was kicked out by his parents because he's gay. He then was taken in by his Aunt Abby. They were close and he's completely at a loss to how to cope with her passing. All he knows is he doesn't want to live in the house and wants to put it up for sale. The problem is all the people in his col-de-sac are extremely close and want nothing more than to help him through this tough time and for him to stay and make himself a home in his aunt's house. No one want's that more than Callaghan though.

Percy was dumped before the funeral of the aunt who raised him and seems to be a bit lost since. He doesn't have much of a family since none of them want anything to do with him. His only relative who speaks with him is his cousin Frank, but since the reading of his aunt's Will they have been on the outs. Percy was left the house and none are too pleased about it including Frank.

Cal.... What a sweet charming gentlemen he was. His father recently decided he couldn't 'handle' his family life anymore now that there is another baby on the way and has left them. Cal dropped out of college and is doing his best to keep his family together. While doing this he is also trying to keep Percy across the street and in his life. But things aren't going so smoothly when Percy keeps on insisting they look and potential places for him to move. What is working is that they are both dropping their walls and getting to know each other behind the sarcastic barbs.

I loved the time they all spent together with Cal's family. I adored both of his sister's and the relationship Cal has with them both.

I really liked how involved all of the neighbors were in helping Percy make his aunt's house his home once again. It was very sweet and I wish the world had neighbors like this. If they are out there, I am super jelly! LOL

If you enjoyed the first book then I have no doubt you will love this one. If you haven't read the first book I recommend you pick it up and this one as well!

Happy reading dolls! xx

This second book in Anyta's 'Signs of Love' series is frenemies-to-lovers at its finest.

Percy is thoroughly convinced that everyone will leave him. Always. So not only is he afraid of his attraction to Callaghan because Cal is straight, but also because he fears putting himself out there (again), only to be rejected in the end.

Callaghan isn't afraid of his burgeoning attraction to his long-time nemesis, per se, he just needs some time to wrap his head around the attraction and see if it's something he truly wants to pursue.

When Percy's beloved aunt dies, he returns to sell her house and begin processing his grief. What he doesn't account for, though, is that his neighbors are conspiring against his plans for a hasty departure. Well, one neighbor in particular, mostly. His nemesis, Cal.

The snark and banter in this second book felt much more subtle than it did in Theo and Jamie's story. Also, this story is *much* more of a super-slow burn in the romance and steamy times department. I mean, the first kiss didn't even happen until nearly 70% in, so yeah. Slooooooooow burn.

So while I truly love both Percy and Cal, this more subdued romance left me missing a bit of the quick one-two verbal jabs that were so prevalent in the interactions that we saw between Theo and Jamie as their relationship developed.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is when it finally clicks with Percy that you can move on and recover from loss without necessarily leaving your old life behind entirely, as he'd initially thought he'd need to do. That sometimes the best way to get past your grief is to embrace those around you that you love, and love you in return -- if you'll only open up your heart and let them.

I'd rate this one at a solid 4.25 stars and highly recommend it to any fans of the first book, "Leo Loves Aries."

I didn't think it would be possible for Anyta Sunday to come close to the perfection of Leo Loves Aries. But she did, folks. This was nearly as magical.

Percy and Cal have been nemeses for many years now. They lived across the street from each other for years, and both are back in their hometown to sort out family stuff.

At first, I didn't understand how these two fit with the couple from the first book. It didn't seem like they had any link to Theo and Jamie at all. But Percy and Cal, come to find out, are neighbors of Theo and Leone's parents. And didn't I just LOVE how she spread the horoscope love to Cal and Percy too.

Percy is back in his aunt's home, the woman who took him in when he needed it most, after he is forced to bury her.

He's continually running into Cal, of course, because of proximity. These two have been snarky to each other for a long time. Never cruel. Just foreplay-ridden banter, if you ask me.

Percy begins to see Cal in a new light, though. And it seems as if Cal, whom Percy always thought was straight, is seeing Percy in a new light too. The snarky banter keeps going, too. Boy, does it. This is my favorite thing about this series, by far!

A neighborly game of Sherlock Gnomes and a case of mistaken identity definitely shine a new light on our MCs. But there's all these years of dislike......right? Can Percy really trust Cal?

It was with a giant smile that I read this book in one sitting. The humor, the playfulness, the feelz. Sunday did an amazing job with this story. And bonus points for a cameo of Theo and Jamie!

Those who loved book 1 won't be disappointed!

I absolutely loved book 1  Leo Loves Aries and I can happily say that this book was just as entertaining as the first ;) I just love these stories, they are so cute and funny.

tumblr_nwbxdsxMlf1uwj0lio1_1280.png (1280×809)

First let me start by saying that this book can be read as a stand alone. You don't need to read first book to understand the storyline. Take my advice and read book 1 anyways though, because it's a great book that you don't want to miss out on !!

fNA69EZ.gif (400×265)

This book is about Percy and Callaghan. Now for those of you wondering if they are connected in any way to the characters of book 1... yes they are. But it's a very small connection. Percy neighbours are Theo and Leone's parents.

JLq09.gif (500×300)

When Percy was 17 years old he went to live with his aunt Abby. This is how he met Callaghan. The boy who lives accross the street in the same cul-de-sac. These two became each others nemesis right from the start. They are not really enemies....but they're not real friends either (or so they say). I would call this a mild frenemies to lovers book ;)

84616a86b9da662f15b636ca1d43f873--print-poster-fake-friends.jpg (512×512)

Now 5 years laters, Percy is back to sell the house. His dear aunt Abby has died and left him the house. Percy doesn't want to keep the house though. So many memories cling to the walls. Too bad his neighbours don't really want to let him go ....

From the moment he sets foot into the house, Call is right there with him. I loved the relationship between these two. Their snark and banter was awesome. I found both of them very endearing.

Turns out Percy has been crushing on Callaghan for quite some time (read ever since they met), but he knows nothing will come of crushing on your straight frenemy. It will only leave you with a broken heart...even is Callaghan would be curious enough to take a ride ;)

aee44263241d43cebe0fe6dd0dd875e1--crush-on-you-a-crush.jpg (236×224)

So he tries to keep things civilized....well as civilized as possible between these two. Callaghan is making things very hard on him though (pun intenteda2b2f14d412b57569f7e90e5a97246fe.png (256×256) ) He is giving of some mixed signals and Percy is really not in the market to have his heart broken yet again. How long will he be able to hold back his real feelings though...

Like I said, I absolutely adored this book. It was sweet and funny and low on the angst. A real "feel good" book if you get what I mean.

Now why not a full 5 stars ?  Well I had some little niggles....small ones. This book is a very very slow burn. I like a good slow burn, it makes for some very HOT sexual tension.

21554928.gif (500×256)

But I guess I would have liked it if these two would have spend a bit more time together being an actual couple. I also would have liked to know how things ended with Callaghan's father. I mean the man just upped and left his pregnant wife and besides one small visit and some small remarks, nothing else is mentioned about it in the end. I wonder if he will ever come back to see his new born baby....

The reason I want to know, is because this book has such great side-characters, such as Callaghan's family, that I want to know how more about them as well. They really grew on me.

Compatibility-Between-Virgo-And-Scorpio.jpg (200×183)

Let's just hope there will be more in this series.... A book about Frank maybe ?? I don't even really care who it will be about, just give me some more !!

After having such a pleasant re-read of Gemini Keeps Capricorn, I decided I wanted to give this one another go in the hopes that I had just been in a bad mood when I read it the first time. And that actually might be the case because this book made me smile as well. It wasn't great, both book one (of course) and book three were better than this one, but it was enjoyable and I liked it. I wished, however, that one - or more - of the character were more alpha male. Other than that, cute story.
New rating: 3 stars.

First read review:
I was scared to read this one as I felt like book one and book three was too much alike; the characters where almost the same, just different names. However, that wasn't so much the case here, though there are some similarities. My problem here was that I was bored and though Perseus ‘Percy’ Freedman, the Scorpio, and his neighbor and nemesis, Callaghan ‘Cal’ Glover (22), the Virgo, was cute, I didn't feel much for them. For me, they just felt like friends. I adored book one, I found book three alright but not for me, and this one I liked the least. Overall, I'm glad I'm done with the series. The first was funny, but the other two just didn't work for me. There was too little depth.

Although I didn't love Scorpio Hates Virgo as much as its predecessor, Leo Loves Aries, I still enjoyed it very much, and it's a lovely addition to the series.

This is an enemies-to lovers story, although Cal and Percy are not real enemies. They're more like frenemies. Their constant bickering and their fake fights, is what keeps them going, when life keeps throwing shit at them.

When his aunt dies, Percy is forced to go back to take care of the house he inherited. That's where he'll reunite with Cal, who's back home to help with family matters. But for the first time ever, Percy will have to consider staying to fight, instead of running away out of fear.

I loved the banter and the one-liners the characters threw at each other. And I loved how obvious it was that underneath it all, there are so many deep feelings waiting to just burst out.

I also loved the secondary characters, especially the people that lived in the cul-de-sac. I'd love more stories in that same universe.

My favorite scene was Cal getting jealous over Josh, Percy's ex. I laughed pretty hard, until things got pretty emotional.

What I missed here is the romance. Don't get me wrong, I loved the slow burn -Anyta Sunday writes the best UST-, but I felt it went on a bit too long. The MCs got together at 70% but they didn't spend much time together as a couple. I'm not talking about the steam, there's not much of it but that's to be expected.

Also, what happened with Cal's parents? Did they manage to work something out? Was there some kind of resolution that I missed?

I would love another story in that series. I hope Frank gets a book too. He might have come off as an asshole but it was clear he was grieving.

You can read this as a standalone, but you'll be missing out if you skip the first book.

It's not a secret that I love Anyta Sunday. I am a huge fan. She gives me that mood and makes me forget the world around.
Her stories makes me smile and gives me a silly face all the way while reading them.

With Scorpio hates Virgo the experience has been a little bit different though (at least during the first half of the book) so my "Anyta-I-love-you" face, this time has been more subtle, more "I-love-you-but-something-is-a-bit-off-here" face. A "yes but no" face. Something like this:

But leave it to Anyta to overtake that little pothole on my way and finally give me what I wanted. Leave it to her to deliver the sexy and cute I craved. Because, after a first half not feeling it, she finally did it and even if not my favorite and, even if I was expecting more (my fault and just myself to blame), this book gave me something , and I finished it loving Percy and Cal and with the peaceful and beautiful feeling Anyta always gives me. She makes me see the world full of rainbows and unicorns

So... to the matter. Scorpio hates Virgo is book 2 in the Signs of Love Series but it can be read as a standalone because the MCs first appearance is here and not in Leo loves Aries.
But there is a nexus between this installment and book 1, and that is Crystal, Theo's mom, who now delivers her beloved horoscope to another couple. There she goes, spreading hope and love around the cul-de-sac she lives in.

Our MCs has been neighbors for a few years and when this story starts, Percy is dealing with grief and Cal with a breakup and some family drama. They are not enemies, they are friends. Or something similar to Friends. The word frenemy is used in the book, so we can go with it and conclude that they are neighbors who like to call each other "nemesis" (even if I insist, they are not).

Feelings are latent since the beginning and what Anyta shows us here is the slow burn between them, the steps from the "you are my enemy" to the long-awaited "I love you". This book is mostly about friendship and even if the slow burn is delicious and the UST heavy in the second half, I missed a bit of relationship development. I wanted more. I didn´t feel the conexión between them as I needed to feel it. But probably this was just me, so don´t mind me, I just needed to spit it here, as usual.

What I really loved:

- Cal and his interactions with his family. How he takes care of his girls. I know we don't need a man to watch over us, but it's really nice and encouraging to have someone thinking you are his responsibility and trying to make life easy for you, even if that life is not the easiest to him neither. And that's Cal. He gives up his own self to be his family supporter. Sweet. Honorable. Decent.

- They are so cute and adorable... Even with my problem with the first half of the book when I started my appreciation of both, the hit came hard. Like I was all "I'm not feeling it, I'm not smiling, I'm not implied" and then, 52% in the story and all I wanted was to hug them (both) to kiss them (both) and for them to kiss each other (hot and messy or sweet and slow, I didn't care about the how, I just wanted them doing the dirty and cuddling after the sweating)

"I want to feel everything you´re willing to give me, and I hope you´re willing to give me everything"

I haven't read any reviews yet but I saw pretty high ratings so I understand my niggle with this book is just mine. Maybe I was prepared to be blown away and I was shocked when I wasn't. But it was a humor thing mostly. I missed that humor in the first half. Not because it wasn´t there, because it was but I couldn't perceive Anyta's scent in it and it had me confused. So it was like I was Deep in a hole till, abruptly, I was thrown out of it and enjoying the couple, the story and everything. I´m giving this book 4 stars after all. It´s Anyta we´re talking about here. We're talking serious.

By the way, in Scorpio hates Virgo we can witness Theo and Jaime's happiness and it is so great to watch. They came to visit and it was a very welcomed one *fangirling loudly*

Recommended, happy reading!

3,5 stars rounded up because of the sweet ending

This was a light read, with pretty law angst. My biggest problem would be the slow burning.

I was pretty excited when I got it via NetGalley, but while reading it, my excitement faded and I just couldn't wait for Percy and Cam to admit they are not really enemies.

I really loved the first book in this series, Leo Loves Aries. I know I shouldn't compare these two stories, because they are pretty different, but I can't help it. I expected the same sweetness and hotness and I got it, but a little too late. I'm not really fond of all the slow burning and it was a little painful reading the first half of this book.

Percy and Cal were both funny. I loved their banter. I chuckled so many times. And I also loved all their nice neighbors. The ending made me smile and gave me hope. A new beginning is the best ending I could hope for.

There were some pretty amazing hot scenes. These two are great together. I loved them as a couple and I'm sure I would have loved this story way more if it wasn't for the slow burning.

Looking forward to reading more from Anyta Sunday.

Another great addition to the signs of love series with this second book "Scorpio hates Virgo"

The story of Percy and Cal who have known each other since childhood and were some kinda of nemesis. After the death of Percy's aunt he returns to deal with the house she left him. Of course being back he has to deal more than missing his aunt but with the confusing emotions Cal makes him feel.

description

This was a really cute read the slow burn relationship between Percy/Cal was so adorable. You could feel the pull they had even though Percy was a bit clueless. I didn't love this one as much as I loved book one because I felt like Percy spent too much time in his head it blinded him some in the things that were obvious. But once he accepted Cal's love they were so sweet and sexy. I still enjoyed it a lot and it was so awesome to see a bit of Leo and Theo that is always a plus.❤️

I enjoyed this a BILLION times more than the first in the series. Even though I still gave the first one 4 stars!😂 The chemistry was there throughout the book whereas I didn't really think it was there *all the time* for the first book. Since Cal loves his dictionaries -- one word I would use to describe this book would be ADORABLE. I'm sensing a theme...I think intense cuteness is a huge part of this series and I'm all for it even as a lover of angst💜 I just enjoyed all of it. Every chapter was a delight! So as of right now Cal and Percy are my favorite couple (which I know I know I'm 2 books in😶😂) but still!!!! Soul mates of the highest degree. I have now fallen in love with the concept of love even more so now🥰

Anyta Sunday truly is the queen of heartfelt slow burn yumminess.

I’m loving revisiting this series and getting swept up all over again in the funny banter, exciting chemistry and the extremely lovable cast.

And while I enjoyed Leo Loves Aries even more, this still was so cozy, and funny and freaking wholesome.
All this small town charm, found family, the sprinkle of hurt/comfort and Percy and Callaghan going from playful frenemies to something much softer made my heart all warm and fuzzy.
I mean, come on: Sherlock Gnomes?!? 😭😭😭 What would I give to be part of that or the Cul-de-sac community in general (even if I’d probably go crazy in this tight knit neighbourhood after 2 days and remember that I’m actually a city gal through and through) 😅

Still, as a fictional place, it doesn’t get any better than this and it’s worth reading for that alone 🥹

4,5⭐️

I swear, no one writes adorkably oblivious characters, like Anyta Sunday. Scorpio Hates Virgo is another winner in Anyta Sunday's Signs of Love series. Scorpio Hates Virgo stands alone just fine, as well, with the MCs from Leo Loves Aries only getting a little page time and it is fully explained who they are. But, truthfully, I would heartily recommend reading Leo Loves Aries regardless. It was fabulous.

Percy is our resident adorkably oblivious character in Scorpio Hates Virgo. He likes to pretend that his feelings for his "nemesis", Cal, are those of animosity. He tells himself that he doesn't really like Cal, because cal is straight and that could only end badly. But the heart wants what it wants and Percy, Percy, Percy, you are not terribly observant. Percy has come back to the Twin Cities, so he says, only so he can get his late-Aunt's house in order so he can sell it. But the neighborhood is very close-knit, and they aren't ready to get to know someone new. So, Operation-Get-Percy-to-Come-to-His-Senses ensues and it's all fun and games.

Cal has been in college for Jurassic Park studies his Paleontology masters, but moved back home to help his family after his father left. Cal is also Percy's nemesis. The only difference is that Cal doesn't see Percy that way, at all, and never really has. It was obvious, to anyone with eyes, that Cal cared for Percy. Maybe Cal didn't realize, until recently, how deep that caring went, but still, Cal was smitten. He shows his caring in his every action, and always has, but Percy keeps up a frustrating distance.

I absolutely love UST and I thought the build up here was delicious. However, I also think it peaked for too long, so the middle third of the book was kind of slow for me. Not dragging, but slow. I enjoyed it, still, but I did find myself, on more than one occasion, wishing they would just get on with it already. They finally did -- oh, happy day! -- and the last third of the book was back to delicious.

I rather adored Cal's protectiveness during the Zombie Appocolypse game and his jealousy regarding Percy's ex, Josh. It was so sweet how Cal's every thought was to make sure that Percy was ok. Also I loved the chats between "Gnomber9" and "Gnomad" ... the whole "gnome" game was adorkably awesome. So, in the end, I was smitten with this couple and I'm looking forward to book 3, which I can only suspect is Frank. Or maybe Josh ... or both. If it is Frank, he has some serious redeeming to do, because he was a total ass in this book. Sure, he was grieving, but even still, he wasn't likable for the page time he got. So we'll see what Anyta does if he is an MC for book 3.

**3.5 stars** Adorable, sweet and funny.
Another win from Anyta Sunday with her series “Signs of love”. This one can be read as a standalone : the MCs didn’t appeared in book1 and are related to Theo and Jamie because they are neighbours of Theo’s Mom.

Percy had to go living with his aunt Abby after coming out to his parents. Right from his arrival in the tight community, he meets who will become his ”friendly” nemesis, Cal. Years passes, they all make their life but Percy is coming back home after Abby’s death, willing to sell the house where he has too many fond memories. He’s surprised to see Cal who is also back. And all the banter comes back full force between them, all this proximity, intentional or nor, finally revealing the strong chemistry and attraction they feel for each other.

It’s a slow burn, which works perfectly here, with a lot of banter (and that’s when I realize English is not my native langage : I know I missed some humor. It’s the reason I didn’t enjoyed it as much as book1, but it’s all on me), two adorable young men, a huge sense of family and community and a great writing style. What’s not to enjoy.

A great comfort-read leaving a smiling imprint.

reasons why this book is wonderful:

- cute and fluffy and fun
- one of the main characters loves dinosaurs!!!! (I love dinosaurs so this is v exciting to me)
- the “enemies to lovers even though it’s clear from page one that we’re in love” trope
- positive, healthy relationships with loving and supportive family members

most importantly: Labels!! are!! used!!! Cal is canonically on-the-page demi and pan, and explains the reasoning behind why he identifies that way!!!!! Back in my review of Leo Loves Aries, I mentioned that I’d wished the book had let Theo be on-the-page bisexual (or even address the possibility of using the label), and in this book it did finally happen! Theo has a cameo and talks about how it took him a while but he realized he’s bi—which is some #relatable content if I’ve ever seen it.

another note—the whole astrology aspect of this series isn’t really a very prominent feature. the main characters aren’t the ones who are particularly interested in it, and neither am I, so that worked out.

this is a v good read if you want something sweet and cute and a little tropey but very well-done :)))

Another swoony and beautiful slow burn from Anyta!

I had a hard time warming up to this story at the beginning. I was hesitant and I considered pausing it and coming back later but hey! I didn't. I continued because I knew I was going to start liking it at some point and I was glad I did it because once I was sucked in, I couldn’t stop reading. It was a really enjoyable reading.

Percy Freedman moved in with his Aunt Abby when he was 17 and that’s when he meets Callaghan Glover, his neighbor. From the very beginning, they considered each other nemesis. Fake nemesis, I must say. I never thought there would be a frenemies-to-lover story but hey, Anyta did it quite well!

Percy is 22 now and after his aunt’s death, he’s grieving and back at her house wishing she was still alive.

From the very moment he sets foot in his new inherited house, he has Cal next to him and the way he offsets him is a great way to keep him from falling apart in that house. I love their frenemies relationship. It turns out that Percy had a bigger motive to have Cal at arm’s length. That way he could stop himself from crushing on his straight and snarky neighbor.

They were super adorable together and I had a silly grin on my face almost from the beginning. Their snarky comments and sarcasm did it for me after I was sucked into the story (before it was kind of 'meh' for obvious reasons.) Their attraction after 30% or something was insanely strong and when they start admitting their feeling I couldn’t stop swooning with what they said to each other.

I think Leo loves Aries was better and I adored seeing Theo and Jaime again. That’s why I can’t give it 5 stars, besides I didn't actually find it funny at the beginning. I felt like I was missing something from the humor, I don't know. It wasn't as smooth as always but fortunately it got better, otherwise it would have been a strong 3 stars from me.
Though, I felt their slow burn drag a little too long, it sort of worked for me. It added a sense of sensuality I thoroughly liked. Even if there aren't many sexy scenes going on, the feels and the passion when they finally get together make up for the lack of steam. It was intense and adorable!

I laugh and sigh a lot with the definitions you find between chapters and the ‘excerpt’ of the last word -commitment- was definitely my favorite and worked perfectly as a swoony epilogue. Those words were definitely my favorite part of the book.

I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a great and easy read.

"Because together we're mud?"
"Together we stick."

Percy made a right turn, words catching in his throat. "It's not a mirage this time, is it?" He met Cal's gaze. "You're right here. No matter what? If I reach out, you'll reach back?"
"Good luck getting me to let go."

THIS WAS SO CUTE!! similarly to the first book, i also loved the fun banters between the mcs in this, Percy and Cal.

i have a feeling my thoughts for each book are gonna be repetitive: it's so cute. 🤣 so far, the series has such a lovable cast of characters and i've adored most of the ones introduced. i also love how the jealousy scenes here are more chill, compared to what i'm used to (with the possessiveness in most books i tend to read lol) but it actually makes sense for this type of series? chill or possessive, jealousy is jealousy and i loved it regardless. 😌

i'd recommend this series (so far) if you're in the mood for something cute and fun—nothing too serious or dark—but it's simply just a feel good story/romance. <3

Hmm.. I had higher hopes for this, but it sadly didn't quite deliver.

Although I thought the characters were plenty likeable enough and the romance followed an okay path, I just cannot help but feel like there was something missing here. Perhaps it was that Percy and Cal both showed a little too much restraint when it comes to their emotions. They hardly ever communicated properly, and never let their true feelings shine through. It was honestly exhausting, and also slightly jarring. I was often confused as to what was even going on and where their headspace was at.
I mean, we read from Percy's POV, yet I don't feel like we truly get to openly know what he was feeling. For example, about half-way through the book it is revealed that Percy has basically been in love with Cal since forever, buuuttt.... I was completely unaware of this. He never even seems to think about Cal in a romantic way before this point! Soo, how is it possible Percy's been in love with Cal this entire time without us knowing that if we are reading from inside Percy's head the entire book??? It's weird and makes the book seem messy.

Anyway, aside from this, I did think the vibe of the story was sweet and sometimes even a bit heart-warming. I thought Cal and Percy had a lot of honest friendship moments between them, and they did appear to always be there for each other.
The thing is, though, that in my opinion this story could just as well have been about two people slowly becoming best friends rather than them becoming lovers. After all, I hardly saw any romantic chemistry, and their interactions didn't appear to steer in that direction either.

Soooo, oh well. This was sweet, but nothing amazing and it definitely had its faults.

When his beloved aunt passes away, Percy inherits her home – the home he took shelter in and found endless love and support as a teenager, when he was kicked to the kerb by his own parents for being gay. Located in a cosy cul-de-sac and surrounded by friendly, well-meaning neighbours, Percy has to decide whether he wishes to sell the house and move on, or whether being in this place – with these quirky yet lovable people – is where he truly belongs.

Percy also battles with his complicated feelings towards his long-time (not-really-a) nemesis neighbour, Cal. The two play a fun game of “we are pretending to hate each other when the truth is we both have major heart-boners.” Silly boys are being silly, but, man, it was fun watching their feelings unfold. And in true Anyta Sunday style it’s done slowly, like reeeeal sloooow – just how I like it!

On top of the always stellar writing and perfect pacing of Anyta’s stories, I particularly enjoyed all the cul-de-sac fun and games that the cast of characters engaged in over the course of the book. By the end I was ready to start looking at house listing for nearby cul-de-sacs, because seriously, a whimsical game of Sherlock Gnomes and a hearty round of Zombie Apocalypse just has to be in my future.

It’s no secret I harbor “strong feelings” towards Anyta Sunday’s stories. The woman knows how to deliver well-written (deliciously dreamy) slow-burn romances. Mix in the feels and the snappy banter with a great cast of well-rounded characters and you have yourself another memorable romantic romp.

DNF at 54%. The writing was very stilted for me. So in turn I could not connect to the characters and the story.

OUT TODAY (September 1st!)

There are two things that have always impressed me about Anyta Sunday's novels, ever since I read rock.

One is the incredible ability to use the most domestic situations to develop a romance, to the point where a review saying "there is no plot" becomes a praise instead of a negative point. Because yes, there is an end goal that one or both characters want/need to achieve, but everything is always so simple and real that it feels like you're watching a reality show. Also, she always manages to switch things up in the sense that the MC and the love interest are put in a domestic situation but never through the same plot devices (which I believe is not easy at all to achieve).

The second thing I'm always looking forward to in her novels is the underlying theme, be it rocks, colors or the horoscope. It makes each novel (or each series) so unique, and even though I don't really care about the horoscope at all it didn't bother me (it's not really heavy, especially in this second book, as it's not the MCs who are super into it).

And then of course, the romance itself. You've heard of enemies to lovers, you've heard of friends to lovers; let me present to you a new favorite of mine: nemeses who try so hard to pretend they're enemies while in fact they're the definition of friends (until they become lovers).

I love how lighthearted these novels are and how the MCs find themselves in a super positive and welcoming environment while still being in our world. I know novels that deal with hatred and homophobia are still important but sometimes you just have to escape the real world while still reading something that isn't a completely made up fantasy, and the novels in this series do just that.

Anyway, speaking of this, another thing that was great I think was how sexuality was handled, applying clear labels to both characters (one is gay, the other one is demipansexual -I love how it's handled so specifically!) and that there was no big drama over one or the other's sexuality, that nobody acted surprised and the conversation about it was literally just one page of dialogue and that's it.

You'd think that going into a contemporary MM romance I'd have low expectations and thus my rating was more loose than it would be with a more "complicated" novel but nah my friends I really don't lower my expectations for anything tbh, like a book has to be good no matter what in my opinion. I might judge books differently depending on what is expected from the genre (like I'm not going to judge a contemporary novel by its worldbuilding y'feel me?) but I think I'm pretty picky especially when it comes to romances.

I also love how family always plays a big role, and I know I'm making yet another point that is true for all Anyta Sunday's novels (at least the ones I've read so far) but it's true. Too many romances focus solely on the two MCs to the point where they are kind of isolated, in a vacuum, but the addition of family and friends makes the romance even better and healthier.

So in case it wasn't clear I definitely recommend not only this book but the series as a whole (this just came out and I'm not sure if a sequel was already announced but I really hope there will be one!), especially when you want something short and with little to no angst (we all have days, weeks or months where we can't handle anything heavy even in our fiction, so definitely put this on your rainy-day TBR).

I TRIED, dog knows I tried.
I have a LEGIT girl-crush on Anyta Sunday! She is dogdamned wonderful, and her novel rock is one of the first MM-books I read, and STILL one of my favourites... But this book was a mismatch for me from the start, and it never recovered.
description
Let's be honest though, I'm pretty sure I'm the problem, and that it has nothing, or very little to do with the book. This series is LOVED and adored amongst most MM-fans

However the first scene with cousin Frank sparked an unease in my stomach and that unease never left.
That DOUCHE is a fucking idiot, and I don't care that he was grieving. His behaviour was despicable, and even though he doesn't get a lot of page-time it shone a light on the underlying behaviour (Percy's doormat-tendencies) and feelings of entitlement from Cal (IMO).
And man did I not care for Cal AT ALL.
Where does he come of telling Percy to just reach out to Frank? Like seriously, why the HELL was that Percy's 'job'?!? Frank was the one breaking in, stealing stuff and leaving a mess in Percy's house... Tell me why Percy's grief is LESS than Frank's!?
description
I never got the chemistry between Cal and Percy. Their banter was supposed to be flirty, but since I did not like Cal, I really just felt sorry for Percy.
And the reason I didn't like Cal: he read as dishonest, cold, distant and a liar IMO.

I felt Percy was a total doormat in all aspects of his life: the house, the ex-boyfriend and the family. I really wanted him to stand up for himself, and say no to Cal's supposed curiosity and high-handedness. Also I would have loved for a more comprehensive background on Percy. I felt like I never really got to know him, other than this insecure dude, falling for a straight guy, and doing whatever that guy wanted.

I can't otherwise explain my unease with this story, other than the FEELINGS in my stomach, and they never got on-board with this.
I am not finished with Anyta though, she is still one of my favourite authors, this was just not for me. Apparently I have new things to discuss with my therapist.

“Blue key for the car, either the yellow or green one for your house. What’s the third for? A safe stashed with secret diaries?”
Cal chuckled. “Yellow is for home. Green is the key to my heart, of course.”

Scorpio Hates Virgo is the second book from Anyta Sunday's Signs of Love series. I totally tried to imagine two people I know in real life with these two signs (Scorpio is my friend -- Virgo is my younger sister) while reading this book, by the way *laugh*. While I admit that some of Anyta Sunday's words in this book SLAYED ME dead but in overall, I felt that the book didn't quite meet my initial expectation...

I guess I was sort of wanting to read about intense enemies-to-lovers story, where the words-exchange were brimming with bites and sparks, particularly because of the title. Hate is a strong word; there are certain attributes/behaviors that I attach to it. Unfortunately, I thought those were missing from Percy and Cal's relationship. While Percy and Cal kept saying that they were nemeses... I didn't felt like so. Their banters were good but didn't feel like animosity. Even the nickname of Perseus and Callaghan felt more like endearments rather than name-calling.

For me, this book was more about Percy and Cal who were already on-the-way of announcing their love to one another. They just needed the right push and the right moment. But when it came, the moment wasn't rewarding enough. I didn't get to the point where I said, "FINALLY, BOYS!", you know what I mean? There are slow-burn romances where I am so involved with the couple, I practically hold my breath waiting for "THAT" moment when they both acknowledges their feelings, and I practically exhale in satisfaction afterwards. This is not one of those books for me, sadly.

Having said that, this is Anyta Sunday's. I still adored the little TENDER moments between Percy and Cal. I cherished the interaction between Percy and the rest of the Glovers family. I LOVED the Sherlock Gnome game (although I totally saw the 'twist' from million miles away; one of the oldest game in a book!). Overall, this is still a wonderful slow burn read, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did book #1, Leo Loves Aries.

I’ve been choosing you since we first met. Just like you’ve been doing with me.”
