AN ALL-NEW NOVELLA IN THE 'NEW YORK TIMES' BEST-SELLING 'NET FORCE' SERIES, CREATED BY TOM CLANCY AND STEVE PIECZENIK AND WRITTEN BY JEROME PREISLER.
In Munich, a renowned computer scientist dies. Then, his daughter vanishes. Both under mysterious circumstances.
Kali Alcazar, a master hacker, wants to know why. As she delves deeper into the suspicious events, she spots something in the sky - a rare, advanced drone - and realizes she's a target herself. A group of mercenary assassins has been assembled with just one goal: to stop Kali from exposing a dark, world-changing secret. Stop her at any cost.
They're not the only ones who are hunting Kali. CIA manhunter Mike Carmody and his elite special ops team are hot on her trail. Their task - bring her to Washington as an internationally wanted cyber-criminal. But that simple mission suddenly becomes a lot more dangerous than they bargained for.
In this thrilling novella, - 'EYE OF THE DRONE', - the lines blur between hunter and hunted in a battle for tech dominance whose explosive outcome ultimately may decide the future of international security.

I had no idea what to expect of the novella but I'd read the first of the new Net Force Dark Web novels and enjoyed it immensely. This is a terrific addition to the series with tight plotting and nonstop action - one of those stories where you start reading and just can't stop.
I read this in a single sitting and had no idea how the story would turn out. In full disclosure, I’d met the author last fall at a signing and he told me he felt the first enovella was the best story he ever wrote. I haven’t read all his books so I don’t know. But I couldn’t wait till this came out and was not disappointed.
Kali Alcazar rocks as a heroine and I can hardly wait for the next story!
As a novella, this was okay. The characters weren't as developed enough to differentiate their motives; although the reader was supposed to connect with Kali, there weren't any specific endearing traits or background for the reader to bond with her, other than several descriptions about her beautiful motorcycle. A thrilled aimed at tech-heads, suitable for readers of thrillers and short fiction.
"Net Force: Eye of the Drone" is a 2020 novella by Jerome Preisler. It is a prequel to "Net Force: Dark Web," the first book in the newly re-launched Net Force series. "Eye of the Drone" is great reading whether you've read "Dark Web" or not. I did not read "Dark Web" prior to "Eye of the Drone," and I still had a wonderful reading experience.
"Eye of the Drone" is a classic espionage cat-and-mouse tale, told against the backdrop of a near-future society. U.S. operatives are hot on the trail of the mysterious Kali Alcazar, allegiance and motivations unknown. Also on her trail are unscrupulous private operatives with their own nefarious agenda. When these three parties collide, it is sheer kinetic mayhem all the way to the story's explosive ending.
I'm delighted to see a novella-length project released under the Clancy brand. I believe this is the first shorter-length format I've seen for a Clancy story, and it's a total blast! Skilled author Jerome Preisler keeps the action taut and exciting, while giving us compelling characters and fascinating technology so convincingly rendered that you'll wonder where reality ends and fiction begins. Quite impressive was the author's ability to craft a story with so much depth and nuance, while still done within the length of a novella. Also impressive was the characterization. It's no easy feat to develop such a well-rendered cast, while still providing the great action and look at technology that "Eye of the Drone" contains; and all within a short format. I particularly enjoyed the character of Kali. She is complex and interesting, while still being relatable.
Please keep Clancy novellas coming! "Eye of the Drone" is absolutely a successful venture, one I hope will pave the way for similar fare going forward. I would love to see the stories and characters we love being featured in these shorter-length works. Here's to hoping we will get to experience more bite-sized Clancy in the not-so-distant future.
