Book 8 in the bestselling Paranormal Investigation Bureau cosy mystery series.
Christmas is in the air… but so is murder.
Lily knows all about having birthdays from hell, but now it’s her best friend Olivia’s turn. Her mother organises a get together, but things definitely don’t go as planned, leaving Olivia upset and not sure she wants to celebrate. There is one bright light at Olivia’s birthday—her favourite fortune teller, Owen the Oracle. Unfortunately, he doesn’t predict the disasters that follow the party.
When one of Olivia’s old enemies dies and she’s charged with murder, her health takes a terrifying turn, but is it the stress or something more… magical? And who’s to blame?
With time rapidly running out, can Lily and the PIB figure out what’s going on, or will Olivia end up jailed for years to come, or worse, dead?
I love reading and writing. I'm a mother to two teens and two Siamese cats. I've got an associate degree of creative writing and am a full-time author. I write paranormal cosy mysteries with heroines who are quirky, kind, and love to right wrongs and get justice. I also love to make people laugh and give them an awesome escape, which is why I tell stories.
I've enjoyed all of the books in this series and I'm looking forward to more. The characters are believable and Lily has a wonderfully quirky sense of fun that makes these books a pleasure to read. The witchy-verse is seemless and immersive and you'll want to dream about it long after you've finished the book. I'm planning on buying these books for my daughter, as I'm certain she'll love them too.
A witch that bills himself an oracle? Pretty interesting premise. Add a bit of giving people what they want, even if it kils them. It reaches bubbling when it affects Olivia, Lily's BFF. Gets to boling over at the climax. Whew!
Lily seems to always find herself in the mess of things. I'm just happy Will is back. Good things happy but so do bad. Lily's camera magic doesn't help on this case but another new power does. On to the next book.
Endlich hat Lilly ihren Will wieder.
Different and more intense than previous books, but Dionne Lister still has her similar arc formula at work, which I really like. Such a fabulous addition to the series. This one has a very different tone to the last one, which is great to mix it up a little. It’s a little darker and heavier, though the author has combined it perfectly with the sweetness of Lily’s romance and the well-timed comedy.
As much as I love this series as a whole this installment is not my favorite. I’m so not a fan of the mean girls and how they drove the plot line. And the story overall just seemed to drag and then boom all the action happened in one chapter at the end. Combined those two things for me made for a tough read.
The story continues to expand the witch world and culture. There are, evidently, just as many bad-guy witches as there are bad-guy normal people. Go figure. In this case, it involves an oracle who may or may not be genuine, but his predictions all come true. But is having one's dreams come true worth it?
Lily's powers continue to impress and expand - in parallel with the looming threat.
A local fortune teller is in town and then mysterious accidents start to happen, Liv has a birthday party and he is the star act. Things take a downward spiral from there.
Just finished Book 8 and it was as great as the previous stories. The characters are fun and the plots are enjoyable and the conclusions are exciting! Starting Book No. 9 in this wonderful series. Thank you, Dionne!!!
After the complex and unresolved tensions of "Witch Haunted," this next book in the series is a little more light-hearted. Focuses on our main characters and a new threat, which must be identified and resolved.
I loved visiting Westerham again, this has become a thrilling ride, at times on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series of Paranormal Investigation Bureau, for late teens to adults.
Well poor Liv, I thought she was a gonner. So glad she survived. Another rollicking book from this talent author, what a great story and so much humour...
Another great book in the series. The way the stories are written make for compelling reading, you just don't want to put the book down. Looking forward for the next one.
While it Liv bumps into an old bully from school and this girl has not changed at all. Lily isn't amused at the horrible woman. But the woman then dies and Liv gets the blame.
Here we go with the delightful (not) Owen the Oracle ! Lily is helping Liv celebrate her birthday, Liv's mum hires the guy to do readings for everyone.
Seriously if you start this series you won't be able to stop. Such a great cozy mystery series
