This one started out slower than the first one, but, good golly, from about the halfway mark, did he turn up the extreme a notch!

Ends in a cliffhanger - and I will HAVE to read the next one.

I'm not kidding about the extreme, so be warned.

Trapped in her home with her family and the original killer, Bella must use her wits to try to save those that she loves. Shock upon bloody shock occur, stretching Bella's sanity to a fine line. ** Edited as review is now live on Kendall Reviews! **

I read Part 1 by Vaughn and while it had some fun moments, I ended up finding the ending a bit disjointed and going in, I didn’t realize it was going to be a part of a series!

So while I enjoyed but didn’t love Part 1, when Part 2 was announced, I snagged it and decided to not let the crust get cold – reading it sooner rather than later.

Part 2 picks up some time after Part 1. Bella has survived and we quickly get filled in on a few blanks from the ending to where Part 2 picks up.

As with most home invasion-slasher movies, Vaughn sets the stage early by telling us that it looks like the 30 Minutes or Less Killer has popped up again, but for Bella and her family not to worry, as he’s 5 hours away.

I don’t think me saying that the killer isn’t five hours away is a spoiler, cuz he’s not, and sure enough in the middle of the night, there’s a knock on the door and Vaughn rains down bloody chaos.

I really enjoyed the survival aspect of this one.

While in Part 1 we didn’t know if Bella would make it, now her mentality has changed – she knows she’s survived once and she’s going to do everything she can to survive again.

Vaughn easily skirts an R rating as the action and violence pick up. This thing is firmly an NC17 film written before the reader’s eyes.

Going in, this time, I knew that there would be a third act, so when the action ramped up and then I saw the ‘To be continued,’ I didn’t have an angry reaction as I did with Part 1.

I still have to get to Hellsworld Hotel by Vaughn, but I really dug Part 2 and I think he’s working towards a phenomenal closing act with Part 3 – if it is the ending!

This is a great sequel. I liked that there was a bit more gore in this installment. The ending tho? For real. Serious cliffhanger.
Recap: so the 30 Minute or Less killer is back to seek revenge against one of his victims that escaped. He has his sights set on her family.
There are some Leatherface feeling moments ( which I totally enjoyed)
There was even something that happened in the book that made me expect one thing, when it turned out to be the complete opposite. I can't say it without giving away spoilers, but it was a nice touch

I may never be the same again. Right out of the gate, you are thrown into a world of hurt along with the first few characters. The beginning scene in only a foreshadowing of worse things to come. It is heavy laden with a brutality that could only come from hell itself. The 30 Minutes or Less Killer has no conscious and a sexual bloodlust that can’t be satisfied. This read is not for the people who turn their heads at the ‘disgusting’ scene in a horror movie. You can’t turn away; you would just have to stop reading. You have to have a thick skin if you’re going to get ‬
‭through this one. It’s a rough read, kiddoes. Just never say, “You didn’t warn me!” because this is it. Five skull rating from me, 💀💀💀💀💀 cause this one cuts to the bone.‬ Go check out Part 1 so you will be caught up with the storyline before you read this one.

If sequels are supposed to up the ante on the violence, intensity, and gore, then author Matthew Vaughn has certainly come through on this one. I actually found myself squeezing my fingers tight around my Kindle while I was reading in the dark, at times practically trying to close my eyes with fright and read at the same time. With emotional impact and a rawness that pulls you through the proverbial wood chipper like an old-school death metal record, this book stabs the reader in the soul until its conclusion, giving us an intimate view of the events as they unfold. Thankfully, the pace is quick so the wounds don't linger too long, because if they did, it might be unbearable. I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait for the next installment in the series!

Making pizza scary again...?

In this sequel to 30 minutes or less Matthew Vaughn brings the same brutality and gore from the first installment. This time the pizza delivering killer comes face to face with Bella's whole family. If you like horror with an extra helping of blood and menace then you can't go wrong with this book.

A year after a serial killer dressed as a pizza deliveryman murders her friends in Part One, our protagonist Bella and her family have settled in the country. Though the killer is still at large, they feel safe in their bucolic existence. That is until the detective arrives at their door and tells them the “30 Minutes or Less Killer” has struck again.

Vaughn gives us a disturbing slasher in an all-too-real world. He commandeers every sense with striking realism. The reader feels like this could be their world, their life. His strong characterization only aids this eerie intimacy.

Without spoilers, I can say that the story goes from zero to sixty in a very uncomfortable way. He shows us a wholesome, prosaic existence before tearing it all away with raw carnage as twisted as humanity can get. The forcible, shocking way Vaughn throws you into the horror is the great achievement of this book

This story is even more disturbing than the last. It surpassed my comfort threshold many times, but that’s what this book aims for. As you can imagine, you need a strong stomach for gore.

Although the scene as Bella struggles to free herself dragged on to the point that my attention wavered, overall Vaughn delivers a well-crafted tale that explores the depths of human depravity. I’m looking forward to Part Three.

That was intense. A lot better than the first one. The ending was an intense cliffhanger. I can't wait until part 3.
