Well edited, great coverage on trauma emergencies and providing basic principles for a systematic approach. This is a somewhat dense read, but very good! Very informative and provides a solid material to improve your care in the medical field. This was one of two literature material pieces for Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses, in tandem with the ATLS course for physicians.
Typical textbook, did I learn something.. yes, will I ever read this in its entirety again… not by choice so we better pass this class on the first try lol
Comprehensive introduction to ATLS. Though, seems longer/more pages than necessary as information is quite repetitive. Also, this 10th edition has several misspellings which should have been corrected. For certain doses they mix between mg and the misspelling gm. Some co-author comments are left behind (e.g. one place the text reads "I agree with this edit"). The information about the rare incident of a contralateral blown pupil due to expanding brain bleeding has a wrong anatomical description about the lateralizing sign. This only to mention a few.
A necessary evil and my second time through the 10th edition. It is very much in need of an update, and I believe the 11th edition is just around the corner. I can't help but feel this book could undergo some heavy editing to become more succinct to deliver it's salient points. However, at present, we must endure its overinflated nature.
Hopefully, my last time through, but we shall see if I must endure the 11th edition at a later date.
Work related read. Not rating the content here BUT (first time ever for me) ... the American College of Surgeons should have really hired a COPYEDITOR before printing this ... it really does reflect on professionalism - especially this being a book being used globally.
