Ever feel like you missed your invitation to magic school? Maybe you did.
When Vix is instructed to attend night school or serve jail time for shoplifting corn nuts, she's oblivious to what Pent College is, who it's meant for, and who she could have been if her magic academy invitation hadn't been lost in the mail when she was a child.
But with a bad attitude, bad habits, and a bad mouth, magic may not be ready for her.
She was caught stealing and she was given a choice, a jail sentence or go to a special night school. She chooses the school but she feels something is not right about it all. Will she find out what is going? Can she mend her ways? See how she gets on

This book kept me wondering what is going to happen next page after page. The last chapter leaves you guessing what is it all about. Eager to read the next book in the series. The story centers around Vix, a trouble girl who learns her struggle to survive in society is the result of her untrained ability with magic, magic she didn’t know she had. While attending Pent College, Vix and friends find themselves in a sticky situation; tell the professor what happened and potentially get expelled, or try to solve the problem themselves. Are they being tested?

“Return to Sender” is a funny well-written tale of a group of magical misfits. The main character, Victoria (Vix), is forced to attend Pen, a magical night school, after unknowingly using "persuasion" on the police officer arresting her. Pen, is a magical college for misfit witches to learn how to use the magic she didn’t know she had. This storyline is laced with humor, new friends, twists, mistakes, lies, mystery, suspense and lots of drama. The characters are fascinating, well developed, likable, and had great chemistry together. I love that the reader is made to feel as confused as the characters, without any preconceived notions or answers. You feel a part of the story, a member of the team. It will be interesting to see where this journey will take Vix and her friends next. I loved this tale and highly recommend it.

A trouble-making girl unexpectedly gets transferred to a college, which only opens at night. Then strange things begin to happen. Sounds familiar? If you read many urban fantasy novels with kick-ass women, then this novel might be your cup of tea. The narration style is unique, which has the heroine's voice, although it was written in third-person. Although she sounds like a pain in the butt at first, you do learn about her troubles before night school. Plus, she doesn't sly away from humor during her self-awareness. I enjoyed learning about the magic system and the situation the heroine faces. If magical schools are your thing, this book is for you.

Creatures of the Night School: Book One: Return to Sender is a great start to this new series. The characters are well developed likable misfits who never learned how to use their magic. The storyline is well written, unique, and entertaining, with humour, lies, friendships made, suspense, mystery, and magic.
