Captured in space. Imprisoned. Sold to the highest bidder. But my biggest problem is this bossy, aggravating, impossible, alien who’s supposed to rescue me.
The bossy alien I kissed.
That might have been a mistake.
Kadir is dangerous. I’ve seen him fight, and his body is littered with scars. He’s a soldier. A warrior. And when he loses control, he turns into a big scary dragon and breathes fire.
Everyone’s terrified of him. I’m not. No, call me the biggest fool in the galaxy, because I’m attracted to the big jerk.
*** Kadir:
When I first met the small human I was sent to rescue, she punched me in the jaw.
And broke her wrist in the process. Irrational woman.
Then she insists that the two of us set out immediately to find her missing friend.
No, what I have to do is get Alice Hernandez to safety.
She’s soft, yet she’s strong. Fragile, yet so brave.
She’s everything I’ve never known I wanted. Everything I can’t let myself have.
When the scientists tortured me, they broke me. And when Alice finds out the truth about the fearsome, raging dragon inside me, I will lose her.
The following ratings are out of 5: Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍 Character development: 🥲😳😋😙😍
The heroine:Alice - An emergency room doctor from Chicago, she was abducted from Earth by aliens, sold at a slave auction and bought Zorahn scientists and is used as a lab animal and often beaten for her resistance. She has been kept by them for over 7 months and has been experimented on, injected with different gene therapies and drugs. She is then bought again in order to be ‘given’ to the Great One as tribute. She expected never to know freedom again.
The Hero:Kadir (a.k.a. Second) - He was also experimented on by scientists and he was tortured and broken, and put in stasis for over 1000 years. He is awakened by the scientist Raiht-vi, the human doctor Sofia and the leader of the rebellion. He is then told that everyone from his planet that has the Draekon gene is either exiled or kept to be experimented on. They tell Kadir about the two ships with human women and how one of the ships has been lost. They ask Kadir and his team of Rebels to find the human women. Though he and his crew have been injected with a poison that will kill him in 90 days if he doesn’t return.
The Story: First of all, Alice has a scarred cheek, leftover from her childhood. I don’t know why authors have to do this so much, I mean why have a huge scar on one of the main characters faces, making them ugly. Sure not all scars are ugly but we can assume so when other people mention how ugly the person is. I want to read about beautiful people (and aliens) not the uggo’s of the bunch.
Alice is undernourished and tied up when Kadir finds her after the aliens who bought her decide that if they give a scarred woman to the Great One, it would be an insult. When Kadir tells her he is there to rescue her, she punches him in the face and breaks her wrist. He is frustrated but sees the fear in her eyes when he brings out the med kit and he knows that the scientists have experimented on her like him.
Kadir was injected at some point with what he calls “The Rather” which makes him feel unending pain like blades to the skin, but when Alice touches him the rather recedes. The only thing that holds The Rather at bay is a drug created by the Supreme Mother, but the formulation disappeared when she died. So the fact that Alice makes The Rather receding is a huge thing.
Alice and Kadir have some adventure and romance as they try to find the other human woman who was captive with her but went on to be given to the Great One while Alice was left behind. Kadir was sweet and protective and a bit crazy. However, he was quite a good warrior.
This was a light and sweet story.Nothing complicated or intricate plot, but cute in its own way. Kadir the second ever made dragon shifter alien is awakened from his statis that hes been into for 1000 years to save 2 human women. When he finds Alice tide up in a market, the outburst she has is the last thing he expects from this human, but so very refreshing and appealing. Well this had an interesting premise and I find myself curios enough to read the next book after the epilogue.
For seven months, you endured the scientists’ torture, and you survived. Make no mistake, Alice. You are a warrior.
Alice Hernandez is having a very bad couple of months. And it keeps getting worse. She’s rescued by this hot alien dude but he’s so bossy she rages every time he’s near. Alice being the smart girl she is realizes really quickly that she needs his help so they’re stuck together. And soon they have some sexy alien sex and blah, blah, blah. There was only one bed!!! They couldn’t help it. The one bed strikes again. Lol.
There was actually a lot of fighting and blood. More death than expected and very gory. I really appreciated how sweet Kadir was. I’m super curious about his brothers. And all of the fighting that is to come. I was extremely intrigued by their extra “power.” For Kadir Just awful. And he was still genuinely good.
Kadir is an alien dragon shifter! Need I say more.
This book checks off all of my fantasy alien romace NEEDS
Writing style: smooth as fine wine. drank the whole story down in one-sitting. This is the kind of writing that impresses me with how well and simple it's been written. I'm definitely going back for a reread with this one.
Likable Heroine (YES) soft heart, empathetic, brave hardass with a steel backbone that can hold herself against horror, torture, and indifference. But loses her wits about her the moment she meets her mate. It's FUN to read!
Adorable Alpha Alien #TripleA Hero (YES) (I know it's an oxymoron, but somehow it works! So far, only Alien Romance can pull this off I find)
You know, I’ve seen quite a lot of discourse lately on why people enjoy monster romance/smut. And a lot of it comes down to how monsters in such books are often bigger, scarier, more powerful than the female main character. But they are also almost always very obviously conscious of this fact and go to great lengths and courtesies to reduce themselves as perceived threats...to mitigate any risk they pose. They’re often super conscientious about consent and big ol’ cinnamon rolls underneath the scary exterior. (And how many parallels are there to real world men and their perceived threats in that paragraph, hmmm?)
Kadir is honestly too humanoid to qualify as a ‘monster,’ but he shares many of those same qualities. Not least of which is seeing himself and feeling himself perceived as a monster. And he is every bit as careful and considerate of Alice as any monster, even before he sees her as mate material and the real romance starts. It’s sweet. Alice I admit isn't as well developed and has a tendency not to always act in her own best interests. But it's all still appreciable.
The story isn’t complicated. There’s no more to it than any number of other alien romances. But it’s well done and sweet enough that I’m happy to have book two on my kindle.
I did at some point realize that this must be a spin-off series, as characters started showing up that were obviously pairings from other book. Turns out it’s a spin-off of the Dragons In Exile series. However, as much as this normally annoys me, I have to say this one stood alone well enough that I noticed but wasn’t too bothered. I didn’t feel like I was missing too much information having not read the previous series. There were also a couple minor consistency mishaps. But all in all, I enjoyed this.
Picked this up because I read the other series that are related to this. Not a bad read at all. Interesting plot, good character development, good chemistry between characters. It didn't blow me away though and I suggest you read the series related to this because there is a lot in this story from those books.
And not for typos or things of that nature. Pacing, smoothness of reading. Sometimes it was awkwardness and a bit all over the map in some scenes so it jarred you out of reading it. But it was good and I will read the next one.
5/5 Well fuck me sideways and call me thirsty. This book was hot!
I binge read this and finished it at 3:30AM. Passed out before writing an review lol
🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨 Dual POVs. Neither hero(Kadir) and heroine(Alice) are virgins. Fated mates trope; no other woman/man. Lots of steam smex scenes; rough sex, fingering, multiple orgasms, fellatio 🌶💯 (Sex done right. None of that “thrust monster alien cock into human cunt in one go BS. Bless you Lee Savino 🙏🏻 ) Happy ending! Mild angst: it comes mostly from the Hero. He feels he’s not good enough for her and that he can’t offer her anything except for his love. He’s got no assets to his name except for a Reaper’s reputation. 😭❤️ +VERY minimal misunderstanding that’s solved right away because they both communicate. They’re both grown ass people with the wisdom that shows it. (Unlike many books of the same genre)
They both have their fair share of misery. - Hero: short summary: sexy Alien dragon shifter stud muffin
Longer summary: One of the test subjects created (like the power puff girls) in a lab that was given a number in place of a name; Second. Made to be a perfect soldier; strong, emotional and intelligent but doesn’t even have the luxury of a lab rat. Never had a parental figure, at least not one that actually gave warm, care and love. Instead she gave him (and his brothers) rathr. A parasite that attacks the hosts DNA and induced constant pain that won’t kill. Completing a given mission, a reliever injection will be given to elevate the pain for a few hours. Failure will result in him and his bond-brothers to be deprived of such luxury and some times received additional punished. The only thing that kept him going was he didn’t want his bond brothers to suffer. Even though he was conditioned and groomed since birth to kill in cold blood, he retained his sanity and only kill when it’s necessary and not needlessly. His super power? He’s a walking and breathing daydream with a monster dragon 🍆. *dreamy sighs* 😌oh and he can read other people’s emotions. Not thoughts. Emotions.
- the heroine: Short summary: a girl worth dying for!
Long Summary: A strong willed, intelligent, independent, determined and sympathetic emergency room doctor. She worked hard for what her has and does not get deterred from her goals. Her mother left her when she ten and her father died from leukemia. She was abducted by alien(Zorahn) scientists and survived 7 months of experiments. She always fight back and she never gives up hope. Her super power? A mother fucking badass who does no harm but takes no shit. Atta girl! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Alice makes her own judgements. She doesn’t let the opinions of others cloud what she’s seen and experienced with Kadir. She stands firm and stand up for her believes and for her man. ❤️
Actions speak louder than words, and Alice does not let Kadir’s kind deeds go unnoticed. She sees the man within, not the ‘thing’ that was created in a lab and even the man himself despised.
This is a story of love and acceptance. These two doesn’t let insecurities and past demons dictate their decisions. They’ve been genuine and true to each other. Opening their old wounds and taking a step back from the other person, giving the other person room to decide and choose to be with them.
No one ever fully heals from being broken. They only get better at hiding/handling it.
Would I re-read this again on my free time? You bet. ⭐️
Katir and Alice’s story is packed with action and a huge dose of humour. It’s also got it’s emotional moments & I have a bit of a soft spot for this gruff dragon. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Our sweet MMC has lived a very difficult life and doesn’t see himself as worthy of being with someone like Alice. Alice has been through hell and makes it out by the skin of her teeth. They have fun sassy banter after he rescues her, which, frankly, make the book. Excellent epilogue makes me excited for book 2!
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: torture (off page), attempted murder, murder, violence, gore
I have been looking forward to this new series about the original DRAEKONS. Kadir is known as number two or Second of the Draekons that were developed in a lab. He was experimented on and tortured by the scientistws, then made to go out and rescue two human females. Alice is one of the females he had to rescue and the adventure begins as soon as he finds her. Alice has been kept by the Zorahn for 7 months, experimented on and tortured daily. When Kadir finds Alice, she was to be sold, but because she was damaged, she was left, tied up and vulnerable. Once Kadir and Alice are together though, it's one adventure after another. They find themselves in danger, but Kadir is a warrior, made to kill and he has one more thing going for him, he can transform into a dangerous fire breathing dragon. I really enjoyed the little human and the giant warrior together. Even though Alice is small, she's strong and doesn't fear Kadir. Kadir is fearsome and very bossy, but sweet when he wants to be. The couple work well together and seem to have a special bond as they fight their way to safety. The sex is steaming hot once they get around to it and there is definitely a bond between the two. The danger and adventure they go through keeps you turning the pages and hoping they can fix all the problems and get back to bed! I was very happy with this story of the fearsome Draekon Warrior and his little human. I am now looking forward to the next adventure with Lani and Ruhan, Draekon Conqueror.
Half the women taken from Earth crash-landed on a prison planet (the prior Draekon books). The other half were sold to scientists and experimented on. Alice has just marked her two hundred and sixth day as a captive. She fights every step of the way, even though it means brutal retaliation.
Kadir is woken from a thousand-year sleep. His label is “Second” as he is one of six who were the original Draekons. They do not need to meet their mate to transform into their dragon. He is charged with finding the captive human women.
Their meeting is slightly contentious; It’s not enough that the human I’m here to rescue isn’t the slightest bit grateful. No, instead, she’s sharp-tongued and suspicious. Spirited, my dragon corrects. Spirited is good. - - - Alice is neither contemptuous of me, nor afraid. Nobody has treated me this way. It’s refreshing.
These characters both have much to work through, and both are warriors in their own way. A relationship begins, and you will fall in love them both as they work through their differences and try to stay alive. I am thrilled to see more Draekon stories in the offing!!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
These are the first draekons, they were created in a lab
Well, I was expecting a menage story like the previous books, but I was wrong. It was a straight m/f story but i still enjoyed reading it. This book introduces us to the original, created in a lab, draekon. There are 6 of them. This book is about Kadir who was named Second by the scientists. He is sent to rescue a couple of human women. One of them is Alice. She was an ER doctor on Earth. The scientists have been experimenting on her and another human for 7 months. Alice and Kadir work well together. They each believe in the other person even when no one else does. This could be read as a stand alone book and beginning of a new series. But I loved the previous books and would recommend them all.
I'm new to this series and writer. I enjoyed the story about Alice. Her determination and inner strength makes her a heroin that's easy to root for. But her falling for Kadir as fast as she does distracts from that image. True Kadir grows on you with time but not immediately. I found myself losing interest in the storyline after a while. It just became more of a whelm balm thank you ma'am.
I enjoyed this story a lot. The characters seemed authentic and the world building was done really well. There were some editing errors that were unfortunate but didn't really distract from the story. The biggest issue was the ending. There wasn't really a finish. We go straight from winning a crazy fight to an epilogue about the character in the next book of the series.
Gripping action and sexual tension through this book. Amazing, strong, intelligent characters with sassy humor and banter that lightens the intense storyline. Love the fact that Rebel Force continues with favorite characters from the Draekon series.
What a couple of fantastic characters! Kadir and Alice just spark up the pages with their chemistry, heat and passion! Alice is strong, sassy and a fghter and Kadir has soft spots on the inside and is a warrior on the outside. This story is packed with action, lust and love! More please!
Great start to this series. Kadir was developed in a lab and they did unspeakable things to him. He is sent to rescue two human females. Alice as been through a lot being held captive by the Zorahn. Kadir will do what he must to protect Alice and soon sparks are flying between them. Great drama, steamy chemistry and amazing characters with lots of layers. An entertaining sci-fi read.
I would recommend reading the Dragons in Exile series first. This is a spin off that has a lot of characters from that series in it.
I liked this. It had a lot of action. Unlike the first series, it doesn't have menagerie relationships (which I liked in those books), but these are a different sort of Draekon.
I started reading the other Draekon series first and then stumbled upon this one. I loved it 1,000 times more. Draekon origin stories, I'm in. Hot, possessive, uber-protective dragon-shifter alien who says good girl?... yes, thank you!
Kadir and Alice were perfect for each other. It was nice to read two strong characters who complemented each other so well. On to book 2!
Oh my gosh what rush! So much action and mystery and just the right amount of .... um you know😉. Hot, steamy alien lovin! I can't wait to read the next one! I really really loved this spin off.
How does a dragon shifter deal with racism? Always on the outside, never feeling like he belongs of course. Then a rescue mission drops his mate into his life and she finds love while they both find accept. Loved it.
