Gruff and jaded, Mike fights his feelings for the feisty grad student under his protection, but Lucia makes him want things he hasn't in a very long time. With the danger closing in and time running out, Mike will risk everything to give Lucia her life back and to have a chance at loving her.
Run and Hide is the second book in the Tactical Solutions International series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Maggie Clare is the pen name of award-winning speculative fiction author, Tabitha Lord. When channeling Maggie, she writes all the naughty things. She's currently crafting a romantic suspense series featuring hot hunky heroes, smart sexy gals, and nail-biting narratives. Count on Maggie to pair great story-telling with an erotic edge.
RUN AND HIDE by Maggie Clare is the second book in the Tactical Solutions International romantic suspense series. The book worked fine as a stand-alone. When FBI Special Agent Mike Flynn gets a call from his friend Alex Costa asking him to find and protect Alex’s sister Lucia, Mike immediately heads to California. When he shows up at Lucia’s hotel room, she is out of money and in need of help. Together, they work to take down a human trafficking ring.
The main characters were definitely someone you can root for with clear goals and believable motivations. The secondary characters were not as well-rounded, but did enhance the story. The prose was entertaining and engrossing. The plot was suspenseful and, at times, it was riveting. However, to me, there were a few too many coincidences. Despite this, there was a nice twist at the end of the book. There are several steamy scenes starting about half-way through the book. Themes include human trafficking, murder, drugs, family, friendship, romance, corruption and much more.
Overall, this was an entertaining book and I would like to read the first book in the series. If you enjoy romantic suspense, then this may be a series you would enjoy. Note: Maggie Clare is the pen name of speculative fiction author Tabitha Lord.
Many thanks to BookBuzz.net – Wave Equations Media and Maggie Clare for a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
Our heroine is tracking the bad guys that betrayed her brother, but she may be in just a bit over her head. Our hero has been tasked to protect her, but that might just be a tall order for both of them.
This is book two of the series, but it works just fine as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a romantic suspense story, one of my favorite genres. The story is well written and easy to read, while packed with action from end to end. The characters are well developed with solid personalities and both strengths and flaws, not to mention an obvious attraction for each other. There is a lot of action is this fast moving story, which it great. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to exploring more from this author.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
This book starts the action off immediatelty and doesn't let up. Right away, we sense the danger and magnitude of the situation Lucia finds herself in. Nowhere to go, no one to turn to, only following the cryptic advice of her two older brothers. Enter Michael. Michael is hard in every way. Personality and business. Lucia creeps into his heart with her determination and quick wit attitude. The real depths of their feelings for each other come out in waves as their lives are put on the line.
I got a little scared for a bit thinking there were more people who shouldn't be trusted with the information they had, but thankfully, my blood pressure stayed in check!
I loved how Jake was back for this one! I love his persona and his all-in attitude.
Run and Hide is a pulse pounding romantic suspense. Forensics student Lucia Costa is on the run. Her brother was shot in front of her and she doesn’t know who to trust. FBI Special Agent Mike Flynn goes off books to help Lucia find out who set her brother up to be killed and why. If he happens to fall for the feisty young woman along the way well that’s karma. This installment in the Tactical Solutions International series is an irresistible romp that will have you flipping pages and chewing your nails.
THIS WAS OKAY, EXCEPT I GUESS THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS SO PREDICTABLE I JUST WASN'T INTERESTED TO KNOW MORE. ALSO, PERSONALLY IF I FEEL LIKE I DON'T EVEN WANT TO WATCH THE MCS KISS.....THEN THIS STORY AIN'T FOR ME.
I'm pleased to say that this series is continuing to keep me interested. This is Mike's story, the brother of Fiona from book one; I was very happy to see and find out how things were going for Fiona and Jake, and to find out more about the decision that Mike made in book one.
I loved Mike, he was such a great character and I loved watching him deal, juggle, process, act on and accept what was happening in his life. Lucia was a great character too; she was tough, intelligent, committed, loyal, loving and showed such strength to trust Mike with everything to do with her.
I enjoyed the story, the pace and flow and the different dynamics shown. I don't know where the series will go next but I hope Alex get's his story told.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Received this kindle read in as part of the giveaway. Read it in one day! It didn’t take long for me to get hooks on this, so I already knew I was gonna to give it a 5star.
The book is full of suspense in almost every page.
I live Lucia and Mike! Besides the obvious creepy part of their age difference they really compliment each other and those are my favorite types of couples.
I think the next part of the book is the storyline of Lucia trying to avenge her brothers death and finding justice to those who were behind it all.
**I received Run and Hide from Net Galley and Wave Equation Media in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way.**
Run and Hide by Maggie Clare is the second book in her Tactical Solutions International series and I only have one question....when is the next book out? I loved this book from start to finish Lucia Costa is one heck of a heroine and when you add Mike Flynn, throw in non stop action to give you a 5 star story. I went back to buy the first book so that I could read about Mike's sister Fiona and Jake Evans story.
Lucia Costa receives a call from her brother Cole calls for her to run as his cover had been blown by a coworker. She grabs the items from the safe and runs for safety with a hard drive his last word to her are TRUST NO ONE. She decides to make a fake copy of the drive contents and Her older brother Alex calls in FBI Mike Flynn who'll find her but they'll soon find out how deep the cartel is with the human trafficking. It will be a wild ride that Lucia and Mike will be on and using all resources they have. Will they escape in time when Mike is confronted by the cartel?
Mike Flynn know when his former Army buddy Alex calls in his marker and go to LA to find his sister . But what he doesn't expect is that Lucia is a Forensic computer hacker and has already some idea of what's on the drive and will do anything to help find her brothers murderers. They'll need help from Tactical and his former CO now in LA at FBI office to draw out the different movers and shakers until the surprise ending of how deep the betrayal goes through the different agencies. Will they be able to keep alive and hopefully their relationship will be forever.
I liked this. Maggie Clare is a new author to me and I’m happy to find another writer who does romantic suspense well.
Special Agent Mike Flynn and Alex Costa served together for several years in Army and when they left their service, they remained friends, and brothers in combat. When Alex calls Mike one day to call in a favor, Mike doesn’t hesitate. He immediately goes to California to search for Lucia, Alex’s little sister; but what started out as a simple find-and-protect turns out to be much more dangerous and involved. It doesn’t help that Mike can’t stop thinking of all the things he wants to do to Lucia that goes far past ‘protecting’.
Overall, I thought Run and Hide was well written. Lucia and Mike as main characters fit together well. I appreciated that they were both strong and somewhat stubborn, but swayed when they needed to. The premise was well thought out and there were plenty of steamy scenes balanced out with bouts of action. The ending though, felt a bit rushed considering how much build up there was, and many things seemed to just conveniently fall into place. I liked the plot twist at the end, but I do wish there was a little more detail when it came to the secondary characters. Many of them seem to play a rather important part in the plot, but their descriptions were lacking.
Thank you Voracious Readers Only and Booksprout for a copy of this novel. I will be looking for the first in the series.
He’s closed off, gruff, and demanding. Mike Flynn is a man who has had love and lost it. Now he is focused on his job. He will do anything to protect those he loves and cares about. When he receives a phone call from a teammate from the Army asking for his help, he won’t turn him down. Now he’s headed to Los Angeles to help Alex Costa’s sister to return a favor.
Lucia Costa is not trained like her brothers to deal with danger and deadly situations, but she will put herself in jeopardy to protect and help her older brother Cole when he is in trouble. The only problem is that she has to go on the run to save her life. She’s talented in finding information with a computer, but her skills to take down a cartel are lacking.
I loved this story. The action, danger, and loyalty of the Flynn’s, Costa’s, and the members of Tactical Solutions International willingness to help, keep the pages turning in this book. The characters are entertaining, loyal, tough, and their willingness to do anything to save or protect family or anyone they care about, makes for a great book and series. Mike is an FBI Special Agent and is looking for justice for his friend and the woman that won’t leave his mind. I give this story a 5-star review and recommend it to readers that enjoy suspense, Alpha males, women who don’t take anything from anyone, or characters that loyal, dangerous, and ready to take down the bad guys.
This is the second book in the Tactical Solutions International series, and I have received both as ARCs in exchange for reviews. I enjoyed this one more than the first one in the series and feel like the author has totally found her footing in the romantic suspense genre. FBI Special Agent Mike Flynn gets a call from his former Army buddy, Alex Costa, who urgently needs Mike to go to California and help his sister, Lucia. At this time, Lucia had tried to save her other brother, who caught in an undercover operation while trying to expose a human trafficking ring. When Mike gets there, she is running out of money and realizes she could use his help in trying to bring her brother’s killers to justice. Due to her brother’s warning about not trusting anyone, Lucia and Mike try to keep their investigation off the radar. This is where Tactical Solutions comes in to help them and we get reintroduced to Jake, who was the hero of book one and is now Mike’s future brother in law. While investigating her brother’s death and the cartel responsible for it, Lucia and Mike do give in to their extraordinarily strong chemistry. They also seem to work well together and build a relationship while trying to figure out who killed Lucia’s brother and who can they trust. Lots of action and suspense in this story that keeps you reading. Great couple and other characters included in this story.
Run and Hide is the second book in Maggie Clare’s Tactical Solutions International series.
Lucia Costa is hiding from the cartel after witnessing the murder of her brother. She trusts no one until Special Agent Mike Flynn walks into the bar she’s working in. Mike owes his friend a favour, and when he locates Lucia he will do everything in his power to keep her safe. Sparks fly between them, danger surrounds them and Mike will risk everything to give Lucia her life back, and to have a chance at loving her.
I originally discovered Maggie Clare and this series through Netgalley. The cover drew my attention and once I read the synopsis I was hooked. I love alpha military/ law enforcement romances with lots of non-stop action. The characters, their backgrounds and storylines in this series are fantastic.
All the books in Maggie Clare’s Tactical Solutions Internatinal series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself. I can’t wait for the next book, Lost and Found. But first I plan to read book one.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy received from Netgalley.
Wow, I absolutely loved this book! I had not read book one and was concerned I would be lost. This one is definitely a stand alone and so good, I promptly ordered book 1. The story centers around FBI Special Agent Mike Flynn and Lucia Costa, the sister of Alex Costa, one of his brothers in arm. When Mike gets a call from Alex and asks him to find Lucia and keep her safe, he takes vacation time, flies to the other side of the country never realizing that his life would be forever changed. Lucia, a brilliant graduate student, is determined to find out who killed her brother Cole. A cop who was working undercover. Fearing for her life, she took a new identity but she’s running out of money and options. That is, until Mike shows up. Their attraction is immediate, but danger surrounds them and they have to be a cautious and a step ahead of whoever betrayed her brother. Add to that a drug cartel and human trafficking, and this suspense, gritty romance will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can’t wait to read book one and whatever else this talented author has in store for us. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I enjoyed reading Run and Hide, it was a relatively fast-paced story that didn't forget to give depth to its characters. They all had a background story that we got to know and that gave them a different, more real dimension. Even if the actual romantic relationship started fast to my taste, we can see there is more than just a physical attraction and that the characters take the time to know each other. I like it when an action/police story is complemented with romance, and the investigation the characters will get involved in had all the elements I like. The author's writing was great, it used a good vocabulary and it showed descriptions easy to imagine without being overwhelming. I also appreciate this book to be a stand-alone that has characters from other books, it makes it accessible while keeping it interesting to look for the previous books. Overall, as my first book by Maggie Claire, I enjoyed the experience and will look forward to more of her work!
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When FBI Special Agent Michael Flynn gets a call from his old friend Alex to find and protect his little sister, he doesn't hesitate to help ... as he owes Alex a big favour after he helped dispose of the person who has kidnapped his sister (in the first book). What Mike doesn't expect is the fiesty beautiful woman he can't help but want to protect ... and much much more!
This book grabbed me right from the first chapter and took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I loved how Lucia was strong and didn't let anyone push her around. And Mike ... who wouldn't love their own personal hunky hero? I finished this book in one sitting as the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. Then there's the sex scenes ... Ms. Clare sure knows how to write them! /a great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book!
I received an early copy courtesy of Booksprout in exchange for a honest review.
This is a suspenseful story that quickly caught my attention. Even though this is the first book that I have read by this author, this book can be enjoyed as a standalone. Grad student Lucia witnesses her undercover cop brother Cole lose his life. Now she is on the run. Knowing that Cole was getting ready to bring down a human trafficking ring, Lucia wants to find the cop that betrayed her brother. FBI agent Mike is called in by an old military friend and her brother to find her and protect her. Mike tries to fight the attraction that he feels towards Alex's younger sister. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Like a lot of romantic suspense books today, this book has a few steamy scenes. I really like that Mike and Lucia's connection was much more than a physical one. This book has some gripping scenes when Lucia and Mike are in danger. I enjoyed reading this book.
I want to thank Maggie Clare AKA Tabitha Lord, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Run and Hide ~ Tactical Solutions Internationals ~ Book 2 that I won in the Giveaway.
Special Agent Mike Flynn, FBI gets a call from a former Army teammate to do a favor. He heads for Los Angeles in time to help his friend's sister but too late to save his brother. Lucia Costa is determined to find justice for her brother and help finish bringing down the human trafficking ring Cole was undercover investigating when he was killed.
Every aspect of the plot was interesting from the investigative work that move slowly from one lead to another, both Lucia and Mike going undercover, rescues, recovery and lots of hot romance. Both are strong characters with a great support team to help them take down the organization, the dirty cops and finish what Cole gave his life for. A great mystery romance with too many twists, turns and details to put into a review!
Romantic Suspense is my middle name and I am not ashamed to admit it.
I have found that I really enjoy a well written RS. Maggie Clare is able to bring likable characters that reader will root for as they try to stop the crazy that is surrounding them. Lucia wants answers and refuses to stay safe but instead goes out to find justice for her brother. Mike is trying to keep a promise while trying to find answers. Together they make a great team readers will be able to fight along side.
The story is well paced and the end gives readers everything they wanted from the first few pages in the book. The story is the perfect blend of romance action and suspense. It is considered to be a stand alone book but it is book 2 in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Maggie Clare Run and Hide
As this is a new to me author, I am thrilled at how much I enjoyed this story. I am now going back to check out book 1 in this Tactical Solutions series. I love the special relationship that Lucia shares/shared with her brothers. I also like the fact that Alex has zero hesitation call in a marker to Special Agent Mike Flynn. I enjoyed that Lucia was not a damsel in distress and could fend for her own. I loved the dynamic that boiled underneath the surface between Mike and Lucia. Giving into their mutual attraction is just half the battle with these two. The mutual respect that they have for one another is really a bright spot. Alex, is probably the most intriguing character and I am so excited for his story!
A thrilling great novel. This is a gripping suspenseful story that I was unable to put down, not that I wanted to. The author describes the suspense and thrilling tensions throughout the book brilliantly, yet spanning the genres to bring the atmosphere of romance onto the pages. Without giving the plot away, I can recommend this book to all who like a romance, in this case between Lucia and Mike with an edge of your seat, action-packed thriller served on the side. I will be looking out for this author, who so effectively can transport the reader into a different realm to be absorbed into someone else's life.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Such a great exciting story. There is action, suspense, and wonderful chemistry. Lucia is on the run after watching her undercover cop brother get killed. She knew that Cole was getting ready to bring down a human trafficking ring. Lucia is after the cop who snitched on her brother. In the meantime FBI agent Mike is called in by his old buddy to find Lucia and protect her. The chemistry between Mike and Lucia is over the top. They connect not only with some steam and I liked how they connected on a personal level not just hormonal. Story kept me engaged till the very end. First book I've read by this author. I'll be looking for other stories from her. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Run and Hide is the first book I have read by this author but it’s the second in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone but definitely fits into the series. I loved that the author wrote the characters and the story line perfectly though so you don’t miss anything from the first book. This book took me longer to read than I thought considering I was really enjoying it for a bit but then just kinda stopped reading it for a few days. I really liked the strong alphas in this story and wish I had got to meet Cole a little more. I felt bad for Lucia but I was glad that her and Alex are going to have a better relationship after everything. This story definitely had its twists and turns and was a little hard to follow at times but doesn’t leave you with questions. I am interested in reading the third one and seeing where everyone is at in life.
FBI agent Mike is called by an army buddy to check on his sister. Lucia had seen another brother killed as he was undercover and there are a lot of dirty cops among the villains. She has trafficking proof on a USB and Mike arrives to help, going back to Tactical Solutions and Jake so their search is off the books. Loved the characters, the intricate details of locales, backstories and feelings. A wild roller coaster ride of entertaining situations and intriguing characters mixed with desperation and steam. My heart is still pounding after binge reading this story. Well done, again!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lucia Costa received a desperate call from her brother. That puts her in grave danger. The cartel have cops on their payrole so there's no way to know who to trust.
Special Agent Mike Flynn gets a call from an old friend. The man has asked him to find and protect his sister, because he's on assignment.
This is an action packed romantic suspense. The characters are strong, brave and sexy. Danger comes from all directions and a vicious cartel boss has a long reach with far too many contacts. This story will have you on the edge of your seat.
Suspense started right at the beginning. Pulls you in and I didn't want to stop reading. Romance starts a few chapters in but doesn't take over the story. . This is a story with a few bedroom scenes, but not pages and pages of sex with a few pages of story. Good combination of both. Well written and edited. This one will stay on my Kindle for a re-read in the future. I look forward to reading more from this autor.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
My first Maggie Clare book and I loved it. Run & Hide is a Romance suspense, Special Agent Mike Flynn gets a call from his friend asking him to find his sister and keep her safe. Lucia Costa is on the run from the cartel and corrupt cops when she is found by Special Agent Mike. Together they hunt down her brothers murderer and a cartel group involved in human trafficking. Obviously sparks fly and those sparks are hot hot hot.
I’m giving this one 4 stars. Can’t wait to read more from Maggie Clare.
**Trigger Warning- Talks about sexual assault in the past***
I was given access to an arc copy of this book thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, this review was done at my own discretion. .
This was my first book by the author, Maggie Clare, and I liked it. She writes romantic suspense in a mostly believable way, and her characters are likable and well-written. The chemistry between Lucia, the heroine, and Special Agent Mike Flynn is great and they develop a good working synergy too. I won’t give a synopsis of the plot as that can be found elsewhere. I would recommend giving this book a try.
Many thanks to the author, her publisher, and goodreads for a Kindle copy of this book. This is my honest review and the opinions are mine alone.
I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway. I read the first book Sing for Me and enjoyed it. Run and Hide is the second book in the new series. The main character is this book is the brother to the main character in the first book. If you enjoy suspense, romance and crime novels, you will enjoy this. It was fast paced and kept my interest. I enjoyed the characters in this book but liked the characters in the first book a bit better. I would recommend and am waiting for the third book to come out.
This book was full of suspense from the very beginning. Lucia was told to hide by her brother Cole. When she went to try and save hin he was killed in front of her. A friend of her other brother comes to help her and the situation is still very serious. These two have off the chart attraction but don't act on it right away. Lucia gets hurt, Mike gets hurt and her remaining brother helps to rescue everybody. A good book.

I am loving this series. I haven’t read this series in order but still the series has made sense. In this book we met FBI Special Agent Mike Flynn. When he gets a call from his friend Alex asking him to find and protect his sister Lucia. When he shows up at Lucia’s hotel room, she is out of money and in need of help. Together, they work to take down a human trafficking ring. The characters in this story were so likeable and their chemistry made this an easy read.
