If you like JOHN GRISHAM and MICHAEL CONNELLY, then Adam Dupree is going to be your next fiction hero!
Micheal Maxwell has traveled the globe on the lookout for strange sights, sounds, and people. His adventures have taken him from the Jungles of Ecuador and the Philippines to the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, and from the cave dwellings of Native Americans to The Kehlsteinhaus, Hitler’s Eagles Nest! He’s always looking for a story to tell and interesting people to meet.
Micheal Maxwell was taught the beauty and majesty of the English language by Bob Dylan, Robertson Davies, Charles Dickens, and Leonard Cohen.
Mr. Maxwell has traveled the globe, dined with politicians, rock stars, and beggars. He has rubbed shoulders with priests and murderers, surgeons and drug dealers, each one giving him a part of themselves that will live again in the pages of his books.
Micheal Maxwell has found a niche in the mystery, suspense, genre with The Cole Sage Series that gives readers an everyman hero, short on vices, long on compassion, and a sense of fair play, and the willingness to risk everything to right wrongs. The Cole Sage Series departs from the usual, heavily sexual, profanity-laced norm and gives readers character-driven stories, with twists, turns, and page-turning plot lines.
Micheal Maxwell writes from a life of love, music, film, and literature. Along with his lovely wife and travel partner, Janet, he lives in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.
This 3rd book shows just how much a small town can change when a big company moves in and starts throwing its weight around with the local politicians. Dupree is a lawyer with a conscience and he wants to help the citizens to fight the unfair actions of the corporate bully. Dupree was hired by the former owners to be their counsel and he stayed on when the new people moved in. He doesn’t like the way the management is behaving. Seems the big boss is harassing the female employees. One of them comes to Dupree to ask what she can do. He tells her to go to HR. She tells him that she did but was offered a check for her silence. He says that is not appropriate. He tells her to go home and call in sick. Turns out she is not the only one being harassed. He winds up being fired. They say they don’t need an attorney but will use the corporate attorney in the home office. He leaves with a fat check for his time and resumes his private practice full time. This series is a heartwarming collection about life in a small town. Dupree is a nice guy. If you like upbeat reading, this is the series for you.
I just finished reading the third book in Adam Dupree series. This followed reading The Cole Sage series. I have so enjoyed each and every book that it is hard to pick the best. I’m a retired teacher of 21 years and since retiring I fill my time reading. Also, with the Covid virus taking over everyone’s lives, I have increased my reading. Your two series have kept me enthralled. I love mystery and suspense novels but your books have really kept me entertained. Thank you for writing these enjoyable series. I’ve read so many books and numerous authors but you have moved into first place as my favorite author. I know this is not your normal review but I felt the need to thank you for writing such wonderful, colorful, and mind boggling books. Everyone who reads this review should realize so far there wasn’t a book that I could put down. Janine Dyess
Dupree is finally free of the corporate bond. He has set up his own practice in White Owl. His first case is quite serious, a school teacher caught with pornography on his phone and home computer. He swears he has no idea how they got there. His other major case is a couple who are being forced to sell their home due to eminent domain, because the company Dupree used to work for wants to expand in that direction. Then there is an old lady who is convinced the funeral home gave her back the wrong ashes when they cremated her husband. A long standing customer at the diner goes missing and his wife doesn't seem to care. A man wants to divorce his wife because he is sure he cheated on her. That is a lot of irons in the fire.
While helping the good guys and making the ones responsible pay,Dupree helps Data look for a customer that went missing after she talked with him.A good book about the life of a lawyer in a small town.
What a wonderful story of good people that stand up for their values. Additionally, we get to see a lawyer work behind the scenes. Great example for other lawyers.
