Megalodon vs Colossal Snake

Rate this book
Brought to life by the miracle of DNA cloning, a 93-foot Megalodon shark has escaped captivity. With an insatiable appetite and unmatched aggression, it travels west for the Georgia coast, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Bullets and harpoons can’t penetrate it, steel nets can’t hold it, and it’s only a matter of time before the whole world finds out about it.

In a race to stop the beast, the organization responsible recruit a marine biologist and a herpetologist to develop a plan to catch it. To do it, they must unleash the company’s other genetically modified experiment—a 150-foot snake, resurrected from the DNA of the mighty Titanoboa.

The pursuit leads to inevitable combat, and the scientists are forced to witness the deadly realities of genetic tampering. As the battle escalates, it is clear nobody is safe…and that nature never intended for these beasts to return. As the destruction mounts, and the death toll climbs, the true loser of Megalodon vs. Colossal Snake is humanity.

Oh, this was so much fun!

I mean, go big or go home, right? The body count is high and the critters are extra here. However, extra or not, they are believable. The author never once lost me.

You've got a couple of characters you really like and one you want to see chomped.

In addition, the author doesn't shy away from giving you some serious monster battles!

What I loved, though, was that our giant snake had personality. I do wish our Meg would have had a little more personality to match our snake, but I definitely enjoyed both of them!

Chomping good read!

An evil billionaire has hired scientists to recreate a titanoboa, an extinct snake more than 100' long and a megalodon, an extinct shark more than 93' long. Both of these monsters weigh thousands of tons and are constantly hungry.
That's the background. During transport to Florida, the megalodon manages to escape a steel plated ship and is now free. That was Project Nine. Said billionaire decided to send Project Eleven, the snake, after it. Needless to say there is blood, gore, destruction and chaos. There are some terrifically detailed fights between the two monsters. The people don't fare so well either.
Michael Cole writes some tremendous action books. If monsters and action are for you, then this book is for you.

Big shark vs bigger snake equals great entertainment

This would make a fun movie. I mean, what person wouldn't be entertained by a 93 ft. megalodon and a 155 ft. snake that are both genetically enhanced. I enjoyed every moment of this face off and I was somewhat sad when this story ended. I have read several of this author's books and I have loved them all. I look forward to reading more of his work...soon, I hope.

Title got my expectations up - and even better the book delivered.

This is the second book I've read from this author and he has still to disappoint me. This is a fast paced action packed book. Very little human drama as the center stage was clearly reserved for the two actual protagonists - the megalodon and the titanoboa :)

No one was spared and one really got the impression of devastation of the creatures. With so much destruction on a larger scale it worked well with the tight timeline. It was quite a wild ride.

Who doesn't like big creatures fight with each other over who will get the human snack like jealous siblings? It was definitely one of my highlights.

Characters were likeable and their different view of the creatures was well made in my opinion. And no cheesy cliche love story made it even better. The book kind of ended as it 'had' to end, but to be fair I rooted for the titanoboa and Miguel all the way. Well done.

I would definitely like a sequel! Or stand alones...I better go see what else the author has written of creature features.

Great read!

Great book with lots of action. Hard not to enjoy a giant shark and a giant snake fighting. The writing was good and kept me engaged and wanting to continue reading.

***Review of the audiobook***

Eight hours of b-movie creature-feature goodness! Michael Cole doing what he does best, writing stories about scary monsters. I especially love his stories about water monsters, and this one is definitely worth a listen. Someone else complained about the narrator, but I thought he was fine. To me, he sounded like a friend reading me a story. Not everyone has to be RC Bray, Will Patton, or Robin Sachs! He had a pleasant, even tone, which is important. If someone's voice is too shrill, it's really hard to listen to. The voices were different enough that I could tell who they were if it wasn't immediately obvious by other means. His pacing was good too. In any event, I'd definitely listen to this narrator again.

Though the title is silly, the story is lots of fun, and begs for a sequel. There is a surprising amount of heart to the relationship between the herpetologist and the giant snake, and equally surprising, a lot of humor laced throughout the book. Many fun side characters keep the story interesting around the main action. There was one scene where several coast guard sailors were laughing so hard at a what they thought was a prank, I started laughing till I was blue in the face too. The descriptions were hilarious, and consistently colorful.

When the giant creatures finally face off, it's nonstop awesome for the second half of the book. Don't get me wrong, the first half is fun too (also plenty of creature action), but when the giants meet up, you won't want to turn this off. Full disclosure, I could listen to Michael Cole creature features all day and be perfectly happy! Fans of underwater adventures and B monster movies will love this.

Life-changing. Thought-provoking. So profound and poetic it made me question my life philosophy and choices.

In all seriousness, it really isn't anything to complain about. If you read the title and the cover and expect a long, prosaic, profound and intellectual masterwork, I really can't help you. This story is about as good as a gigantic prehistoric shark and a gigantic prehistoric snake fighting is ever going to get. It isn't boring, it doesn't overstay its welcome, and it doesn't take itself more seriously than it ought to. Again...giant shark fights giant snake. There really isn't any more to it, and there shouldn't be. Could I push my glasses up my nose and make complaints about the things in this book? Of course I could. Could I exhaust every second of the hour bemoaning little details? Yes. But where would the fun be in that? This book isn't asking you to do that. It's asking the simple question that a particularly nerdy kid might ask on a playground: who would win between a megalodon and a titanoboa? And if you're willing to get off your high horse enough to find out, the book will reward you for it with a decent bit of fun, and sometimes there's nothing wrong with that.

For a book with such a ridiculous title, this was way more fun than expected. In fact, it's like reading a GOOD version of one of those awful Syfy/Asylum creature features with the desktop CGI and the actors walking around in parking lots.

Evil Co. LLC is making a big shark and a big snake and the shark gets loose. Fearing bad PR, Evil Co. LLC sends the big snake out after the big shark. That's basically the book right there, but along the way there are entertainingly fun characters, various subplots, TONS of action, and all-around it's a solid summer read.

if you’re a fan of creature features

My hubby won’t watch creature features with me and there just aren’t enough movies so I tried this book and it was perfect for me - short, to the point, no boring parts, great story line (actually wanted more of back story to continue) ok characters so all in all was a win for my needs and surprisingly good though as a snake owner I could tell the author definitely didn’t do much research on snakes about their behaviour but still impressed and will be reading many more from author.

For a cheesy Creature Feature this was so good?? Like the end battle between the Meg and the Snake was 10/10, very well written. Plus the good ol' bloodbath like we all like to see in a Creature Feature was spot on as well.
Very recommended and will be getting promoted from Kindle book to physical book asap

What's not to like? Giant shark, giant snake, boy, girl, bad mercenaries, evil millionaire, and the gallant ships captain. Loved this and devoured it in a bedtime read. More, please.

Review of this book.

Absolutely great. Minus the grammatical errors. Who does your proof reading? They need to read slower so they actually see the misakes, not let their mind Dee what they expect to see.

A glimpse of our possible future! Ha. Shady rich guy trope. Kind of wanted them to live through a sequel!
