I have read and reviewed quite a few summary books, and I rarely like a summary for several reasons including poor English, not enough information summarized, gaps in summary information that make the flow confusing, and the fact that the summarizer usually tells us the summary (e.g., “Trump then said…”) rather than just summarizing (e.g., “When Donald was…”). While this book did not do perfectly on all counts, it did better than most, surprisingly. The English was decent, and the original book was actually just summarized—I think this is the first summary I've read that has done so! I did think that sometimes the summaries of the individual chapters were too short or left out key information, but I actually got a pretty good gist of what the original book is about. There were some strange choices made, like to give every chapter a super long title that included the book's title, subtitle, and the chapter title. The book also had trivia questions and questions for discussion, but I don't think these were well chosen. The book literally starts with the summary of the prologue. At the end of the book, the publishers also provide a brief bio of Mary Trump and a little bit about the book itself. This is the only place with any analysis, though it is not very much. I've seen so many bad summaries out there that, while this one has flaws, it is better than most.
I think this review captured the gist of the facts but not the flavor . This made my choice to pay the 99 cent/vs the full book price a good one. I did come away with more knowledge of the book than before I read the review. I also will keep the book on my list to read soon, just out of curiosity of reading the author's tone and writing style. Thank u for this review I did not know t was a thing.
This is a very informative summary and I do look forward to reading the full length book in the future. Although it felt a bit weird peeking into the trump family it did paint a sad look at an incompetent president. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this summary.
