I, Noralee Reynolds, lead the ultimate nerd life. I own a comic shop, have a great group of geeky friends to work with and wear a different cosplay every day. Since inheriting the family business I’ve had no time for a personal life of my own. Even if hosting a speed dating event makes me wish otherwise. I, Wyatt Collins, lead a hectic life. As a single dad, I've only got time for two things - raising my son and being a cop. I wasn't looking to cuff myself to anyone. Then I crossed paths with a nerdy comic shop owner who made me think twice. Things are great until a little self-doubt has Noralee wanting to run away. Can Wyatt convince her that he can be her real-life superhero?
This book is such a light, fun read. I absolutely adore Nora and her besties. Seriously, they're the kind of friends I only wish I had. They're all snarky and fun and completely supportive. They love hard and they are loyal. They also know when Nora needs a good kick in the pants when Mr. Hot Cop (okay, he has a name, but I like to call him Hot Cop) comes around.
If you're looking for a funny, sweet, sexy romance, this is the book for you.
Because WYATT.
Wyatt. Oh, he's sooooo swoonworthy. Seriously ladies, he's hot, he's a cop, and he's a single dad. He checks all my little boxes and then brings his A game in pursuit of Nora.
This is a story of how an auto declared geek had an adventure, and found herself doing and saying things altogether unexpected.*
I had a great time reading this All Geek to Me!
All Geek to Me is a romantic comedy with the comedy of manners accents as it criticizes some misconceptions and social behaviors. Most of the fun comes from the main character. Our Noralee is a nerd who made me remember with pleasure the Operation Petticoat (1959) or The Mummy (1999) movies. That because Noralee has a lot in common with the female characters if we think, for example, to the first Evelyn's scene or almost of Dolores's scenes, yet she is an "authentic original".
It's my opinion that it is more difficult to write a good comedy than a drama. Entwining the serious aspects with the comedy elements requests more from a writer than to be a good storyteller. Allie York managed well! You will laugh together with the characters whilst whishing them to conquer their challenges.
Good rhythm, fun mixed with awkward situations, a not a geek at all alpha male in danger to... all is offered to you in Noralle's story.
It's useless to say more about All Geek to Me except recommend it to you. Nerd, geek, jock or an ordinary human being, you'll enjoy yourself finding out that, again, the opposites not only attract one another but that they could be great together. Saying that, stay safe (you still have to deal with Noralee!!) and enjoy the read!
Engage!
*Note: the real quote is “This is a story of how a Baggins had an adventure, and found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
OK, this book took me to my happy place in romanceland. First of all its nice to see girls that are geeks in books. I'm so happy that this is a thing here. I love that Noralee loves Doctor Who too, because well..that's my think.
This book was super cute to infinity and beyond, for all the right reasons.
I love geeky girls.
And Wyatt was precious. I love that he is a good dad, son and cop...and oh is his little boy super precious!
Oh and Words For Nerds is just a place I want to go and hang out.
Allie created friends that you want to get to know better and I hope we do, with each book.
There were a few plot twists that didn't really go anywhere including the break ins that brought the two of them together, plus I would have loved to have really learned more about Wyatt and how the mother of his son is no longer part of his life, but the story was so cute and laugh out loud funny that these things were forgivable. Seriously, there were so many times I busted out laughing reading this book that it could have been embarrassing if I were in public!
This is a wonderful start to a new series! I can't wait for the next book!
4.5 Stars I like geeky/nerdy characters so I knew had to read this one. Plus throw in Wyatt is a single dad you have me sold. I want to go visit Words for Nerds. I would feel right at home with my love of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. I mean the cafe is called Second Breakfast. I loved all the characters in this one so much I want more from this series now! Loved Noralee so much. She's a little klutzy, but such in an endearing way. Wyatt is yummy and his little guy is so adorable. This book is going to suck you right in and not let you up for air. There is plenty of heart and humor in this one. I had a book hangover from this one because it's one you keep saying one more chapter. I would definitely recommend this one.
This book was a nerdy girl's dream, a female comic book store owner, all the fandoms you can think of, corny puns, oh and a hot cop with an adorable kiddo, what's not to love?!
As if all of that wasn't enough Noralee our adorable, nerdy, fandom loving store owner is also a walking talking accident waiting to happen. There were so many comedic moments in this book that I laughed as much if not more than I swooned.
But never fear hot cop Wyatt balanced the scale with his attempts to save and rescue Noralee from accidents and injury and of course his adorable 4 yo Cruze.
I cannot wait to continue the series and see what Noralee's besties get themselves into. I sure hope we see more of this adorable couple (and Cruze too!)
York finds a way to be endearing while having the courage to be vulnerable. Noralee is proof that being true to who you are is a beautiful thing. Even if it makes you a little socially awkward. All Geek to Me blends an optimistic attitude with a sense of humor and finds a combination that's just perfect for love. Opposites attract and it's an entrancing experience that warms the heart.
So this is my second book by Allie York and I loved it, it’s the perfect mix of laugh out loud and swoon. You get all the feels from these two and it really shows that sometimes opposites really do attract 😍😍
Allie York definitely gave me the delightful break that I needed since I've been reviewing a lot of books on the heavier side, so yeah, All Geek to Me was perfect to me! Noralee has a great group of friends (can I have them please?!) who kept me laughing throughout, as not only were they loyal as hell, but also knew when tough love was needed, and not in a mean way either on the side of just providing some hilarious interactions. She was on the more awkward side bringing on awkward situations that were so endearing to me. Not only that, but she & her friends were the type that I couldn't help but cheer on when they were facing life's challenges, only made better when a hot cop came into the picture. Wyatt was amazing, and totally opposite of Noralee, but man did he pursue her so perfectly fiercely, that I didn't find myself mad at him once, and I can't say that about the majority of my books of late. Plus, they had such intense chemistry together that I was afraid that I would get a spark to the face through my kindle. I don't want to go on anymore, as my review could NEVER NOT ONCE be more interesting than the story, so hit that one click button now! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I adored this book. Noralee owns the comic book shop, Words For Nerds, that her parents founded and passed on to her once they retired. Wyatt is a cop responding to a robbery in the shop next door to Noralee’s. After a few encounters, both of them try to deny their attraction to the other. Noralee is happily single and not looking, and Wyatt is focused on his career and his four year old son Cruze. When the shop hosts a speed dating event, Noralee makes a bet with her friends that he won’t show up. But he does. He SO shows up for her, in every way.
This book is full of amazing nerd references – Noralee dresses up as Captain Mal! She watches Doctor Who every single night to go to sleep! And btw Wyatt gets sucked in exactly the same way I did several years ago. She dresses up as all her fandoms and OWNS it. Both characters are so relatable, but I really connected with Noralee. And we can’t forget her friends, twins Greer and Tuesday, and Rae, a video game streamer. Seriously, these are my people. The chemistry between Wyatt and Noralee is amazing, and her clumsiness puts them into the most hilarious situations.
This was my first Allie York book but I'm definitely a fan! I loved the opposites attract aspect of Wyatt & Nora. They were so adorable together and they had so much chemistry. I love Noralee! She speaks to my inner geek! I laughed at all the clumsiness and the cosplays were awesome! And Wyatt is just so swoon worthy! I loved these together!
PS- I seriously hope we get the other girls books!! I needs them!
Cute read, I really enjoyed it after I got a couple of chapters in. For me the first chapters were a bit clunky and and didnt flow naturally, I felt like I was told alot of information in a short span. I get it was setting up the story, and the scene but it and it was a bit of an info dump, I didnt feel it. But after a couple chapters in it started flowing nicely and I really liked the story and characters, Really looking forward to the next book in the series!!
All Geek to Me was the melting pot of all things fandom. And it was utterly magical. Everything about Noralee was nerdy and fun. Waytt was one hot cop that hands down shifted quickly into amazing book boyfriend territory. This nerdy rom com will have you chuckling out loud while making you want to reach for the remote to brush up on your Doctor Who knowledge.
I really love this book. I think it's because I'm a bit of nerd myself, and it was nice to see a nerdy girl get some romance for a change. I look forward to the next one.
I am so far away from being a nerd like Noralee that when I read what this book was about I wasn’t really sure it was the book for me but because I have read Allie York in the past and loved her books I decided I should give it a try. I am so glad that I did. While Noralee speaks comic books and geek, it was geek that I was familiar with. The references made in the book were characters and movies I was familiar with so I understood her references. It was fun to let the geek side I didn’t know I had come out and enjoyed this book.
Wyatt, the hot cop, was a fun character. He was not a geek and did not speak geek. Yet, he didn’t let this stop him from getting to know Noralee. I love how he planned their date to include special places and things that would interest Noralee. He kept her safe from herself, laughed when things didn’t go quite as planned, and accepted her exactly as she is. The fact that he was a father was never far from my mind, although I am curious at the rest of his story. There were hints (like how long ago it was since he had sex and the age of his little boy that were never finished) there was more to his story and I’d love to know it.
I love a good nerd book! Although Noralee was a bit more nerdy than I understood. I know of Dr Who, and Marvel but I couldn't quote them as she does in her inner and outer monologue. But I like that Nora knew and embraced her nerdiness. And Wyatt did too. Even though he wasn't quite as nerdy as Nora but still interested in her and the store and just all of Nora.
I love Nora's friends too who embrace their nerdiness as well but also want the best for Nora so they help make Nora and Wyatt get together. Since it seems like Nora wouldn't fall in line with Wyatt but I think Wyatt liked Nora so much that he was going to chase Nora into a consensual relationship.
Can't wait to read more of this woman-run comic series!
3/5 stars I enjoyed this little nerdy rom-com. You have your usual love at first sight with a very clumsy nerd girl "Noralee" that owns a comic shop and a cool cop "Wyatt" with a kid , It was a nice kind of mix. We have 3 nerdy girl friends that will have each their book that I'm sure going to read. There were some nerdy references like Star wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Hanger Game, Stan Lee, Batman and so on. I had a good time reading this book, it was funny and pretty cool because nerds are cool whatever you say! Also, I would love to have Noralee's apartment and bathroom.
This book was cute and an enjoyable read. Admittedly, a lot of the references were all geek to me as well, because I know ZERO about comics! But I absolutely loved the dynamic between Nora and her friends, her relationship with Wyatt, and of course Cruze. I loved all the characters in this, aside from Nora's mom, who I just wanted to smack. I'll definitely be reading the rest of this series.
All by geeks need to read this series. I am totally hooked. First off of.....Fellow Browncoat!!
The.chemistry between the two is awesome a love the geek talk and witty banter. Very life like. I'm very Nora who could be me. Socially awkward and geeky. Fellpw Browncoat and Hufflepuff here.
You won't regret this series. I'm hooked and reading next one now.
A funny single dad romance. A nerdy comic book lover and a hot cop with a four year old son that would make you laugh and fall in love with them. A light and fun read.
I loved this book, it went way better than I thought. Noralee was such a relatable character and I loved her. Wyatt was such a good man in every aspect in his life. They were an amazing couple and I was rooting for them so hard
Cute, loved the geeked-out gals, nerdy references, and dorky outfits!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡 Wyatt, his boy & pop are great… left hanging with his side of clarifying what his brother tried to air-out, and I agree, too bad she didn’t put her “mother” in her place or tell her how nasty she is… ✨Here’s a cute part: 🧚🏻”She comes out of the bathroom wearing baggy pants with Tinkerbell all over them and a shirt that says, ‘I’m so fly, I Neverland.’ I chuckle. It’s literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” 😂😂 +💰 Scrooge McDuck poster💰
Story wise, this was a 4 star at least. The H and h, the kid, Pops, and friends were all great. The h's parents... I have issues with people who can't or refuse to understand boundaries, the one's who can't stand up to these because they've been conditioned are forgivable though, of course. The mom and somewhat the dad ruined the whole thing and they were only present for 15% or less.
This story was a great light hearted romcom; a quick comfort read with witty banter and unapologetic geeky puns. About 25 pages in, I already knew I had to read the remaining books in the series.
It's unfortunate that these books are no longer available in physical copies. I found this book as a physical copy at a library sale and now I'm on the hunt to see which other ones were published at some point in the past.
