Silver Harbor #1

Maybe We Will

Rate this book
From Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of She Loves Me, comes a sexy and heart-warming novel about finding love—and family—where you least expect it.

When chef Abby de Messiéres returns to Silver Island with her sister to get their late mother’s affairs in order, she expected to inherit her mother’s bistro along with their childhood home, not to discover a half sister they never knew existed, and a handsome vacationer camped out on her mother’s patio.

Workaholic Aiden Aldridge has been sent to Silver Island on a work-free vacation, armed with a “Let Loose List,” and ordered to get a life by the much-younger sister he raised after the death of their parents. After years of focusing on his sister’s well-being, he’s blindsided by his intense attraction to the gorgeous, free-spirited Abby.

Aiden might not know much about chilling out, but he’s excellent at striking deals. He helps Abby with the restaurant in exchange for her help in tackling the items on his list. Sparks fly as Aiden and Abby work, and play, side by side. Intimate conversations lead to steamy kisses and undeniable passion. But there’s more to Aiden then Abby knows, and when the truth comes out, their new romance is put to the test, as the two find out if true love really can conquer all.

"'I fell in love with you like night takes over day–soaking up every little thing you did and said, until you were all I saw, all I wanted.'"
This book got a hold of my heart from page one. Romance at its finest, and swooniest!
I wish Silver Island were real, so I could visit, and even live there. It seems like my kind of place.

"'I wasn't looking to meet anyone here, Abs.'"
"'Neither was I.'"
"Then maybe we're meant to be(...)'"

I absolutely love both main characters, Aiden and Abby. I love how Aiden is a giver by nature, and he would still be one even if he didn't have all the money he does, it's just who he is. I love how he genuinely likes taking care of people, and putting other people first.
Abby is such a wonderful character, who wears her heart on her sleeve and who hasn't had an easy time in life. But yes, she's still fighting for her dreams, and she wants to be her own, independent person.

"'With you I have discovered so many parts of myself that I never knew existed, and (...) I think they only exist with you.'"
Aiden is a wealthy guy who is into finance and investments, and a real-life workaholic. Abby is more of a free-thinker, a chef, who has just quit her job because she realized it didn't make her happy.

Abby goes back to Silver Island after her mom passed away. Aiden is in Silver Island on a holiday because his sister insisted he should take some time for himself and stop living for work.

In reality, their lives don't overlap. But they have a chance meeting one day outside Abby's father's old restaurant. From then on, everything just makes sense, as if all this was meant to be from the start.

The flashbacks to Abby's childhood and her family were endearing, and both her sisters add depth and emotion to an already love-filled book.
Her group of friends is just amazing, which is something I love in Melissa's stories: they always make you feel like you're part of them. Plus, the small-town vibe just adds to what really is a great romantic story.

"'You are everything I never knew I needed.'"
This is the story of two people who likely would never have met without the universe nudging them in the right direction. They have different expectations, different lives and realities.
However, Aiden and Abby were both missing something in their lives, something they didn't know they needed – until they found each other.

As Aiden was ticking off items on his list of stuff to do on holidays, given to him by his sister, he was ticking off boxes in Abby's heart too. And in mine.
This book will melt your heart, give you all the feels, and make you believe there really is someone for everyone out there.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

If you've read Melissa Foster's books, you know she is a very prolific author with close to a hundred books under her belt. Not surprisingly, she is a master of creating sweet and sassy, loveable protagonists, large groups of friends and extended families, and lots of hot and steamy scenes (if you're looking for a clean romance, you're not going to find it here). Maybe We Will is Book1 in her new series of books set on Silver Island, but there are numerous characters from Melissa Foster's previous series making their appearance as a neighbour, a childhood friend or a business associate.
Abby de Messiere and her sister Deidra come back home to take care of their house and their family Bistrot after their mother Ava passed away. Ava had a life-long secret - she had a baby when she was seventeen and was forced to give her away for an adoption. So Abby and Deidra discover they have a new sister Cait. Abby also meets a gorgeous vacationer Aiden and their romance proceeds at a breakneck speed.
Aiden has given up his private life to take care of his younger sister after their parents died in a car accident. Abby saw how damaging losing the man you depend on can be and drew her own conclusions. She will always be independent and rely on her own efforts to make her way in the world. They are both decent, family-oriented people.
Yes, a large proportion of the book is devoted to hot and steamy scenes (the protagonists get together very early in the book). Their lovemaking and their relationship feel very comfortable and mature- these two people are essentially happy with who they are and where they are at in their life, they are not shy or bashful, they both value stability and honesty. Aiden's love declarations and things he may seem too perfect and too much too soon, but if you are a fan of love at first sight and giving it all to woo your One and Only, you'll find it all romantic and swoonworthy.
My biggest niggle with the book is that it seemed too long. We get introduced to Abby's friends and get updates on what is happening with other couples' lives. Great, if you've been following Melissa Foster's books and are on a lookout for some familiar faces...If this is a standalone for you, treat it as your first big family get together with brand new in-laws.
I'm really interested in Cait's story (Abby and Deidra's newly found sister) and I bet there is a good man somewhere there who will break the barriers our workaholic Deidra has built to protect her heart! Looking forward to reading their books.

It's the pacing that brings this otherwise light and steamy book down. While the relationship is 100% instalove, the book is REALLY long, and there are plenty of parts that drag. These two get serious quickly, so much of the story feels like unnecessary filler. I loved the connection between them and the low angst feel, but that was secondary to my boredom. It's also not quite the standalone that you'd expect, considering this is a series starter. There are appearances by characters from AT LEAST three other series, and that certainly doesn't help matters. So, while I actually enjoyed the romance quite a bit and liked both characters, the rest of the story lost me.

The story follows Aiden, a workaholic in need of a break. He's spent years caring for his sister while building up his business, so working comes naturally. When his sister forces him to take a vacation and relax, Aiden isn't entirely sure how to do that - even though his sister has left him a very detailed "Let Loose List." But it's not long before Aiden meets a sexy stranger, and Abby might just be the beautiful distraction that he needed. She's got her own issues and is dealing with some changing family dynamics, but Abby finds herself falling head over heels. What started as an easy, temporary vacation fling soon feels like a whole lot more.

If I'm loving a book, it won't matter that it's long - but it's the kiss of death if the story is just okay. And that's where I'm at with this one. That gorgeous cover pulled me in, and I was excited to check out this series starter. My main issue with MF's work has always been that the stories are too interconnected; there's no natural jumping in point, and that was also the case here. Despite the fact that this is the first in a brand new series, there are countless appearances by characters from MANY of her other series. That only added to a length that's already unwieldy - this is longer than the last two books I read COMBINED. And it's not like this is a slow burn; these two essentially fall at first sight, and the rest is just them being together. There's nothing that I particularly disliked, but the length killed this for me. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this vacation romance.

We are back on Silver Island and I couldn't be happier, MAYBE WE WILL is Abby de Messiéres and Aiden Aldridge's story. You may remember Aiden from his sister Remi's book if you've read THIS IS LOVE, no worries if you haven't every book Melissa Foster writes can be read as a standalone, I loved him and was so excited that he was finally getting his HEA.

Aiden is a workaholic, he has spent most of his adult life raising his younger sister after their parents died in an accident and now that she's an adult he has thrown himself into working non-stop. So much so his sister has made him take a much needed vacation and has given him a to do list of fun things so he will not be tempted to work while he is supposed to be relaxing.

Abby had lived on the island until she left for culinary school, but, now her mother has passed away so she and her sister are back to figure out what to do with everything. There are a couple of surprises left behind by her mother and one of them is life changing....a half sister they knew nothing about!

The Meet-Cute with Aiden and Abby was just that - cute and funny! I loved the chemistry they had and the way they felt so comfortable around one another pretty quickly. This was not an insta-love story but there definitely was insta-lust. 😉

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and loved it. Aiden Snow and Jennifer Mack did a wonderful job with bringing this story to life. If you listen to audiobook's I would recommend grabbing this one, your ears and heart will thank you for it.

This is a perfect read for anyone that enjoys Steamy Contemporary Romances with a bit of an age gap (ten years). You may need a few tissues but it's not a tearjerker, I would recommend a tall glass of ice water though because you will need it to cool off every now and then.

Happy Reading!!!

This is a story that will capture you from the start. An Instant connection that leads to a love for the ages.
Aiden and Abby are some of the most genuine and engaging characters I have read in a very long time.
I love how Aiden is truly a caregiver. He loves and cares deeply for those that matter to him. His sense of responsibility I think was ingrained in him from early on in his life. Even with the loss of his parents and caring for his younger sister is just continued and became who he is. Aiden is a wealthy guy who is into finance and investments, and a real-life workaholic.
Abby is such a wonderful character, who hasn't had an easy time in life. Abby is a fighter. Her Dreams matter to her. She wants to be her own person. Because of the hardships in her upbringing, it has caused her to rely only on herself. While she wears her heart on her sleeve she does not trust easily. Abby is someone you get one chance with.
Abby goes back to Silver Island after her mom has passed away.
Aiden is in Silver Island on a holiday because his sister insisted, he should take some time for himself and stop living for work.

They meet as a coincidence outside Abby's father's restaurant, and from then on, all the missing pieces start making sense, as if all this were meant to be from the start.

This book is the story of two people who likely would never have met if it happened by chance. Their journey is so natural and easy. Things for them just click. It is as if their souls brough them together.

Maybe We Will is a true love story for the ages. If ever there were two souls that were meant to be it is Abby and Aiden. This story had my breath catching and my heart just full of love.

Maybe We Will is a what I would call a fairytale romance. Aiden was the perfect boyfriend. You could tell he had fallen at first site and he was completely smitten with Abby. They way he pursued her was very romantic.

Abby is a bit of a dreamer. She was just as smitten of Aiden, and he completely swept her off her feet. She reminded me of a woodland creature singing and twirling in the forest. These two were perfect for each other.

Everything about Aiden and Abby falling in love was more fairytale than real life. While some readers will love that just as much, others might prefer a bit more realistic approach. I will admit to being somewhere in the middle. I do love a good fairytale romance, but I also need some reality to it as well.

This did have an amazing setting and a lot of wonderful side characters that added to the romantic feel of the story. It sounds like some of these side characters may have a book of their own. I believe this is my first book by this author and I am intrigued to see what some of these other couples books were like. I'm curious if all books have this fairytale flavor.

While this is a solid romance, nothing about it really engaged me as a reader. I loved the plot and the set up, but the characters fell flat. They had their moments, and I loved learning about the world, however, the execution and the dialogue between Abby and Aiden was not natural. Their conversations felt forced. Like the point was to explain things to the reader...but I can’t ever imagine people speaking and revealing things to each other they way they did.

All that said, it was a solid romance and I can see how this style would work for certain readers. I’m just not one of them.

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced copy.

I have been looking forward to Aiden Alridge’s story ever since his introduction in This is Love. I fell in love with his character and wanted him to get his happily ever after. If ever there was someone who deserved happiness, he did. The sacrifices he made for his sister after the death of their parents demonstrated his selfless nature.

Aiden spends most of his time working, and his social life is non existent. His sister wanted him to relax and take a break, so she forced him to take a vacation. She provided him with a list of fun activities to take part in while on  vacation. Aiden had no intention of spending three weeks relaxing while he could be working and plans to cut his vacation short. However, when he met Abby de Messiéres his plans to cut his vacation got squashed.

Abby returned to Silver Island to handle her late mother’s affairs. She knew she would inherit the family bistro and her childhood home. However, she never expected to gain a half sister and to meet the handsome stranger who would bring light to her life.

Sweet, heartwarming and romantic, Maybe We Will engaged me from start to finish. It was wonderful learning new things about Aiden, and I enjoyed getting to know Abby. Although they come from different circles, they made a wonderful couple. They had great chemistry. I loved how he believed in her, even when she didn’t trust her capabilities. Their relationship is not without its challenges, but they demonstrated their willingness to work things out.

Catching up up with characters from the previous books in the series and meeting new ones proved to be a delightful experience. Their camaraderie had me smiling throughout the story.

Narration

Jennifer Mack and Aiden Snow narrated. I am a big fan of Aiden Snow. He did a great job, which came as no surprise. I would listen to anything he narrated. This was my first time listening to Jennifer Mack ]and I thought she did an excellent job. Audiobook lovers would have a treat listening to Maybe We Will on audio.

Conclusion/Recommendation
If you enjoy contemporary romance, then Maybe We Will will make a great addition to your library.

This book surprised me in how much I enjoyed it. I always enjoy reading a Melissa Foster book, but I look forward to some books/heroes more than others. I didn't expect Aiden to hit me so hard with the feels, but both he and Abby have lost their parents. They have a lot in common, except for the fact that money is no object to him, whereas it is to Abby and her future dreams.
The descriptions of the Bistro had me wanting to be there, sitting on the patio looking out over the sea. And the descriptions of the food, and pastries, had me salivating.
I loved how Abby would waffle on when she was nervous or excited, and also how independent she was. She liked to make her own decisions without interference from others, unless she asked for it.
It was great to catch up with Jock and Daphne, and Remi and Mason, but there are lots of new characters that have me intrigued and I can't wait for their books; Deirdra, Cait, Brant, Wells...
This book is heart warming with lots of sweet, romantic scenes but also has some sad, melancholic moments. From about halfway through I cried on and off a few times, so be warned: tissues are needed.
Another fabulous read, and it will leave you wanting to visit Silver Island.

"I've been trying to figure out how to tell you what I feel for you in a different way, but nothing seems big enough. Some people find their first loves in middle school or high school, and for the rest of their lives, nobody measures up. Others go their whole lives without finding the one person who makes them feel complete. I am so lucky to have found my first, last, and only love at thirty-eight."

Just that quote alone should make you want to read this. I mean **swoon** worthy!!!

Aiden and Abby are perfect together and they have chemistry you can feel.

Uber rich, workaholic Aiden ends up in a quaint island town when his sister sends him on a one month, work free vacation. The goal: complete a to-do list of fun, relaxing, childish, items to show him there is more to life than work.

Meeting Abby in that town might just be the best thing that could ever happen. She is the life he has been missing. The light, the fun, the soul.

"I might not be the best at chilling with my feet in the sand, but I was raised right. And at almost forty years old, I know the difference between spending time with a woman to scratch an itch and being with someone who makes me feel and think and want things I have never wanted before."

But his need to be the "fixer", the business man, might ruin everything.

It's this big city guy meets small town girl summer love story, but it is also so much more. The story of their parents, their childhoods and what made them into the people they are today is tragic. The way they both overcame so many obstacles is inspiring. The small town community vibe and how the town rallied around Abby and her sister when they were young made me cry. Finding Cait and accepting her right away as a sister was beautiful. And the love story between Aiden and Abby was so fun. The list brought out the best of both of them!

(I can't wait for Cait's story. I NEED to know more about her.)

Maybe We Will is book one of the new Silver Harbor series of contemporary romances.

Abby has come back to Silver Island to set her mother’s affairs in order. She would love to reopen the family Bistro if it will be a viable option.

Aidan is taking an enforced holiday from his busy life in finance; his sister has made him promise to relax and she’s given him a list of leisure pursuits that she wants to hear he’s been doing. He meets Abby while having a solo breakfast on the patio of the closed Bistro; she surprises him and they quickly become friends. He offers to help her renovate the restaurant in exchange for helping him check items off of his sister’s to do list.

I really enjoyed this hi-speed romance; Abby and Aidan were wonderful characters and their hard-working attitude was admirable as was their ability to take in some leisure and pleasure time. I was so glad that they worked out their differences; they deserved to be together. Loved it!

5 Star Review of Maybe We Will (Silver Harbor #1) by Melissa Foster

I was so excited when I learnt that Melissa Foster had a new series releasing and I couldn’t wait to dive in to Maybe We Will. As I have come to expect from Melissa Foster, this book was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in.

Chef Abby de Messiéres returns to Silver Island with her sister after the death of their mother to get her affairs in order. She is shocked to learn that they have a half sister they knew nothing about. Aiden Aldridge is on Silver Island to holiday and getaway from work; having been ordered by his sister to unwind and relax.

I really liked both Abby and Aiden, both separately but especially together. Offering to help Abby with the bistro she has inherited, she in turn is to help him tick items of his relax and experience list. However, not all is as it seems and Aiden has secrets. What will happen when they come to light? Will it destroy their blossoming relationship before it gets a chance to flourish?

The chemistry between Abby and Aiden sizzles, their connection to one another is obvious. The banter between them is witty and as they they get to know one another the sparks fly. Aiden has a heart of gold, having taken over raising his sister, Remi, after the death of their parents. He is kind, caring and protective and totally swoon worthy if you ask me.

Abby’s life hasn’t been the easiest, she relies on and trusts no one. Will Aiden be able to break down the walls that Abby has surrounded herself with?
Fate works in mysterious ways and Abby and Aiden were meant to meet and in doing so find a lasting love. I cannot wait to see what Ms.Foster has in store for this series.

Maybe We Will was the first book in the Silver Harbor series by Melissa Foster. It was one of her many in the Love in Bloom series, but all can be read as stand-alones.

Aiden Aldridge. We met Aiden through his sister Remi’s book, This is Love (Harmony Pointe series #3). His parents died when Remi was twelve and Aiden was in college. He then raised her from that point on. He was now almost forty and a total workaholic with no personal life outside of Remi. Remi forced him to go on a vacation without any work. Luckily he met Abby and for the first time in his life, he was enjoying not working.

Abby de Messieres went back home to Silver Island to pack her mom’s things after her death. Her father had passed away when Abby was young and her mother never recovered. Her mother had kept her father’s bistro open, but just barely. Abby had a lot of decisions to make with her sister Deidre and was unsure where she was headed next. And add in a surprise sister, Cait, and the plot began.

All in all, it was a good feels storyline with low drama - until the final conflict of course. And true to Foster’s form, there were life lessons in abundance. But it was really slow paced. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline but would have enjoyed it even better had it been a little more faster paced. However, with that said, Foster had a way of taking a situation and making it true to life. And the premise of the plot was a real one. Two workaholics with a little baggage learned to enjoy life again and that wasn’t something that happened overnight. It was a process and Foster illustrated the process for us in Maybe We Will. So for those romantic workaholics, there was hope. As usual, well done Foster, well done.

Maybe We Will is the first book in the Silver Harbor series. This one is Abby and Aiden's story. As with all of Ms. Foster's books, this one was filled with fun characters and sexy times. I really enjoyed Abby and Aiden's romance. I would love to have Abby's cheery outlook on life. Sometimes it's hard to keep that positive and forgiving outlook. Aiden was just the sweetest and most loyal guy anyone could find. I loved his need and willingness to help those that who were important to him. I loved the idea of the Let Loose List that his sister Remi gave him. His relationship with his sister was really cute.

Along with the sweet romance, the relationship that develops between Abby, Deirdre and their half sister Cait was a favorite part of the book. In fact, I can't wait to read Cait's story later this year! This can be read as a stand alone and it's one I highly recommend.

Now this is romance!

From their first meeting, this had everything you could possibly imagine to lay out the perfect romance storyline. Abby and Aiden were strong, incredible characters and watching them romance themselves into a forever relationship was beautiful.

Steak Potato and Pepper Skillet - Smoky Steak Skillet

Although Abby might not appear to be the strongest of the sisters, I felt like she had a firmer hand on what was emotionally best for herself moving forward after her mother’s death. She had an awesome dream and watching it come to fruition with the help of friends as well as Aiden was actually inspiring.

Aiden was pretty much hooked from the first moment he saw Abby. From that point onward he quickly became the most swooniest of heroes I’ve read in quite some time. He knew exactly what to do and say to win not only Abby’s heart, but mine.

8tracks radio | Songs that will get you laid, round 3 (49 songs) | free and music playlist

This was a low angst read with little drama and lots of heart. The heat level is scorching and written in a way to highlight the evolving relationship between Abby and Aiden. With characters from previous books as well as a few new ones, this is definitely setting things up for the series and I can’t wait.

Maybe We Will is the first book in the "Silver Harbor" series but I also believe it's part of the "Love in Bloom" series. I am not familiar with that later series (as it's massive, almost reach 100 titles) but it seems like it could be as there are connecting cast of characters that I believe are a part of that series according to the author's note in the back of this book "Maybe We Will". I am such a newbie to this author's work, she is such a prolific author, I mean she could be a big competitor for authors like Christine Feehan or Nora Roberts. From what I have read so far from this author has been charming small-town coastal reads, which tends to be the theme/setting in what this author Melissa Foster tends to write within her stories. I will say that I absolutely adored this book here. While it felt like a long reading, I think there was a part of me that just wanted to immerse myself so completely by this story.

Maybe We Will is a sweet coastal romance with some foodie lovin' that features:

Aiden Aldridge-Financial Whiz, Billionaire, Workaholic, Loves His Family

Abby de Messiéres-Chef, Devoted to Her Sisters, Dreamer

Maybe We Will is a story that starts off with our hero and heroine meeting on the beach. Abby is going out for a run working out her frustrations and our hero Aiden, is chillin' on a bistro chair with a pastry and coffee when he and Abby run into each other and sparks fly pretty quickly between each other and they share a pastry while appreciating the beauty of the coast. Abby has just returned home when her mother passes away, she has quit a job that she hated, and dreams of rebuilding her father's restaurant. Aiden has come to relax on orders of his sister. He tends to be a workaholic and she is forcing him on a vacation and even gave him a list of items he must do and take pictures of. As Abby and Aiden learn each other, a friendship builds between them while the chemistry builds into something more. They explore the town together, while rebuilding her father's restaurant together, and their chemistry and friendship turn into something so much more solid and real, but there are secrets that Aiden has kept from Abby. And when the truth is revealed, their love will be tested? Will Abby and Aiden be able to fight for the love they have built so quickly and will that love be strong enough to stand the tide upahead?

But in her heart she didn’t believe it, and walking away would mean losing the truest love she’d ever known and the only love she wanted

Maybe We Will was such a beautifully told story and I was so entranced by this story. Now I have read this author before, but there was something almost "magical" in this romance. Even though it felt like a long read, there were so many times I was caught up in the "moment" that was so connecting and romantic and felt so relatable. What I have really admired about this author is how real her stories feel, and I love seeing how human and vibrant her characters are written. This story was truly beautiful in every way. What we see in this romance is just worth every single moment of the reading. I became so invested in this story. First off the setting was SO well done, I could almost feel the beach breeze on my face as I was reading and all the scents portrayed were so perfect. It made me wish for summer. The characters in this one were so entrenching, and they win their way into your heart. I really loved how invested they were in each other. The type of investment that goes so much deeper than just the sexual intimacy, but to the soul of who they are. The way they care for each other, see to each other's needs and fight for each other in both the small and big ways was truly gratifying.

You haven’t known me long enough to realize this, but I want you to know that I’m only overtly sexual with you, Abs. You bring out parts of me I wasn’t even sure I possessed anymore and sides of me I never knew existed

This is a story that is focused on family and community. We see how much family means to both Aiden and Abby. Abby, even though just losing her mother, has discovered a hidden sister neither she or her sister knew about, but unlike her sister, she is thrilled to have another family member to call her own. The dynamics between the three women are so unique but fun. You see the deep connection they have despite their differing personalities from each other. Then we have the relationship between Aiden and his sister. (I am pretty sure she has a book so I want to read that soon) I just love how protective she is over her brother but also has no shame in forcing him to take vacations and find some love along the way. You can see how much they are devoted to each other. Then we have the community that is shown in this story as the backdrop and I want to LIVE there. Its so quaint, charming, and cozy. The way that they watch out for each other was so special. I just couldn't seem to get enough of it.

You changed my world, Abigail de Messiéres, and when I come back, I’m going to change yours

Overall I found Maybe We Will to be a deep connecting romance that fed all of my romantic needs in a story, its a relatable charming read that is bound to stun you in the small moments and evoke emotion in the bigger moments---a truly stunning read that took my breath away!

When Abby's mother passes away, she and her sister find themselves back at Silver Harbor to figure out what to do with the house and family restaurant. As a chef Abby feels she can bring the struggling restaurant back to life, with the possibility of settling in Silver Harbor for good. Upon meeting financial guru Aidan, he offers his help as long as she helps him with his bucket list of relaxing and fun things to do during his vacation. Sparks ignite as they spend time together, but how will Abby react once she finds out a secret Aidan has kept from her?

This was a good read and I love that Abby is a strong and independent woman who isn't looking for and doesn't need a man by her side. Aidan is a workaholic and is taking a step back from work to relax and let loose. They weren't looking for love but it found them. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book.

MAYBE WE WILL is a beautifully heartwarming romance with lots of steam. The story of Aiden and Abby is the perfect way to start off the beach season. While this couple may not look like the perfect match on the outside, watching their love story progress was magical.

As the first book in the Silver Harbor Series, it was fun to see the island set up and learn about all their family and friends. The support system the main characters have in this story is the same foundation of family in all of Melissa Foster’s books and makes the stories all the better for it.

Watching Abby deal with her family’s loss and other changes happening was moving. The struggles she goes through are realistic, the encounters between Abby and Aiden are fun. Aiden has his own struggles, though it may be harder to see them from the outside. There is a strength in these characters that is fortified when they’re together, and I believe this is the start of another great series by Melissa Foster.

Love at first sight

Abby is a chef who originally comes from Silver Island and has recently come home after her mother passed away. Then she and her older sister find out that they also have an older sister. They also find out that their mother left them the Bistro. Aiden is a billionaire, workaholic who has been sent to Silver Island by his sister in order to relax. This is how he meets Abby and it's love at first sight for both of them. These two are perfect for each other and balance each other out but this is what also leads to problems for them. This is such a beautiful, romantic, sigh out loud love story that was such a pleasure to read. I can't wait to see what awaits Abby's sister too.

Sue me but I would let my multi millionaire rich boyfriend help make my dreams come true! Also the I love you and how upset she got over him not being able to go ROLLERSKATING with her after ONE SINGULAR WEEK of knowing each other!!! This whole thing lasting 3 weeks total and yet the words “our home” and “I can’t imagine life without you” were said numerous times AND it ended with an engagement?!? You were strangers THREE WEEKS AGO??

This is a wonderful spin off and I have been waiting for quite some time for Aiden to get his HEA! I am so happy he found it with Abby. Abby returned to Silver Island along with her sister Deirdra after their mom passed away and discovered a sister they never knew! I just loved Abby's huge heart in welcoming Cait to their sisterhood and how they included her in all the decisions. Abby decided that after leaving her job and mediocre boyfriend to reopen her family's bistro on the island. Aiden was enjoying breakfast on the patio and they had an instant attraction. Both have things in common as both lost their parents and relied on their siblings. I just adored how much Aiden believed in Abby and encouraged her to do her best with reopening the bistro and doing his best to help her. After Aiden raised his younger sister I kept hoping he'd meet a special someone and Abs is the perfect person for him.

I really enjoyed Abby and Aiden’s story. He was absolutely swoony, and she was positively awesome. Both had things to work on, and they helped each other perfectly!

It was okay

It was sweet but nothing really memorable about this book. I can't pinpoint what I didn't like about the book because everything was fine. It just didn't hold my attention or give me any feelings while reading.

Melissa Foster always delivers in her books. Her writing style in romance is so unique because the characters are so well developed, and we understand them as they were longtime friends.

Aiden Aldridge is Remi's older brother from This is Love (Harmony Point #2), he is a 38-year-old workaholic who is only focus on his business and sisters. Now, she is married with kids living her life and Aiden is a little lost. He needs focus and work to hold it together, but Remi convinces him into taking a vacation at Silver Island to have some moments for himself and be happy.

Abby de Messiéres is a chef and is morning the loss of her mother with her sister. She came back to Silver Island to start over, take care of the family's bistro, and decompress. She meets Aiden by chance and is totally overwhelmed by this caring man. Their path is not always easy because they live in different cities, not to say states! But in a unique way Melissa Foster transforms this story into a lovely romance that you want to read by listening "A Sunday kind of Love", because Aiden and Abby are just like that...

A great romance! I loved it!

⫷ The ARC copy of this book was provided by NetGalley in exchange of an honest review ⫸

Abby met Aiden when he went for a vacation on the island. They hit it off instantly. Abby's mother died recently. She and her sister, Deirdra found out that they had an elder half-sister, Cait whom they accepted to their family gladly. Aiden encouraged Abby to reopen her father's Bistro when she mentioned about her dreams. Abby's helping Alden with his Let Loose list. Both fell in love with each other in the process. Abby opened her Bistro with her friends, family and of course, Aiden's help. Although there was a fight between the love birds before Aiden had to leave for business. But everything turned out okay as Aiden proposed.

My Feelings -

- I like Cait. But Deirdra was irritating. The kid, Patty was adorable.

- I loved that Aiden and Abby conversed a lot. Because it prevents misunderstandings. But damn, it's way too long. Whenever Abby opened her mouth, it's like she's uttering an entire essay in one conversation. Take a breath. Had to skim through it most of the time.

- Steamy scenes were hot!

- A few repetition. All their talk was going around in a circle. Gosh! Move on from the same topic already. Ugh! All their conversation had to have the topic of how Aiden took care of Remi, his sister after their parents death and how Abby's mother turned into alcoholic after their father's death which was why she and Deirdra had to practically raised themselves but they still had some happy memories with their parents. They kept repeating it again and again in every fucking conversation. We got it in the first time, damn it.😠 Dragging on much?

- Aiden kept interfering Abby's business with the Bistro. And Abby, here, was getting angry whenever someone would suggest something. Wait, no. What I meant was whenever some 'man' would suggest something. Instead of consulting with Aiden, she wanted to do everything alone. At the end, though she always ended up doing what Aiden suggested.🙄 Couldn't help but notice she only had problems getting help from Aiden and Deirdra.🤨 And I really hated the way she beahved with him whenever he tried to help her. There's a difference between being stubborn and being a bit*h.

- Sometimes, okay, scratch that, most of the time, Aiden felt more like he's Abby's 'girlfriend' than a love interest/boyfriend minus the steamy scenes.

- This book turned into something too cheesy and cliché since Abby and Aiden slept together. I was cringing a lot since then.

- Okay, so I knew that Aiden being the buyer of the Bistro was gonna cause problems even though he didn't buy it at the end. When Abby found out she started babbling all nonsense to him without listening his explanation. And she said she needed time to think. Think what exactly? I'm pretty sure she would never be able to open the Bistro if Aiden and Cait didn't help her. The way she was behaving, she was gonna use all the money on the fucking lamps. One mistake he made and she forgot all the things he had actually done for her. Started questioning their relationship. Blah! Blah! Blah! And here I thought this book wouldn't have any miscommunications because of the essay type conversations.

- I'm sick of new characters popping outta nowhere. It made me feel like Abby and her sister didn't really knew their mother whatsoever. Although Abby's mother was reminding me of Enola Holmes's mother. Kinda.

- I like Abby's friend circle.

- I felt like the author wasn't even sure herself about how to portray Abby's mother in this book. One moment she was an alcoholic mother who never took care of her children; but then she seemed
to sing song for an autistic child? What the hell? Her character was all over the place. Then it happened with Abby too. Because one time Abby was so kindhearted innocent person who never held any grudges against their alcoholic mother but she seemed to judge Aiden pretty quickly after one slipup from his part about his intentions and love.

- I couldn't believe that Remi and Aiden having discussions about love life in front of a child. And since when children speak like that?!

To be honest, this book was missing the smoothness to execute an amazing plot properly. Because it became dull, annoying and predictable. The writing style was okay I guess? Dunno. I don't usually prefer third person writing style in my books. But I don't hate it either. Overall, it was somehow disappointing.

This won’t be a good review, but it will be a funny one. I guess if I can put a smile on someone’s face, that’s all that matters to me.
You first meet Abby and Deidra. Their mother recently passed, so they both head out to Silver Island to take care of things. Abby decides to takeover her mothers bistro, it needs a load of work done though.
I relate to Abby in the way that I hate asking for help. Even in my lowest life points, I just keep pushing even if I’m mentally and physically drained. Abby is the same, but it got too ridiculous. Aiden(who I’ll get to) bought her an oven for her bistro. Abby had an absolute COW. Threw a temper tantrum and refused his gift. You guys, even the delivery driver with the oven HAD SOMEWHERE TO BE BUT SHE WAS REFUSING THIS OVEN 🤣 It got to the point where it was annoying. Girl, just take the oven!!! Finally she took the oven with a very pissy attitude.
Let’s meet Aiden. Abby meets him on the beach, and things go up from there. Aiden is on the island because he’s a workaholic and his sister gave him this “list” of things to do on his vacation. He mentioned his sister so many times that it got to a point of almost being weird. Now Aiden has been with Abby for 3 weeks, let me repeat that THREE WEEKS. He has to leave for a week for work and Abby is beside herself over this. While he is on this business trip, this fool decides that he made a mistake and shouldn’t be making these long trips anymore. BRO YOU HAVE KNOWN HER FOR THREE WEEKS!!!! Your career should ALWAYS come first! Maybe make these big decisions when you’ve been together for years NOT weeks. Good gravy, dude. Oh my god, and his pet names for Abby? He called her “Abs” and “babes”. Not everything needs an s at the end 🤣 Don’t ever get me started on the “I love you” after 3 weeks. In 3 weeks this stupid man completely changes his life for her. His career, his home etc. Bless his soul, but slow things down my friend. The vanilla erotic scenes I skimmed over. Oh, she goes on birth control for him because they don’t like condoms between them 🙄 Nothing wrong with condoms, folks.
All in all, I was more concerned with the bistro part of the story because I like food. It was the only good part of this book. 2.5/5 stars. Good story, not smart characters.
