It's a concise and well written pamphlet of ideas, with some great notions in it, but also relies on an outdated view of society and our place in it. It overvalues the necessity of work given our present technologies and lack of economic demand. While Reeves and Sawhill do put forth proposals to give people more of their time back, they are too modest and involve delaying retirement. We really should have far more leisure time than we do. It should be the majority of everybody's time. That is attainable, but the authors claim it is "unamerican," which betrays a failure of imagination.
The content of the book focused on middle class in america. This is more for white and blue collars worker. The book seems like their aspirations for better treatment in 5 sectors.
