It’s Cassidy’s first day in kindergarten and she is a little nervous. Will she be able to keep up with her classmates or will her learning disability get in her way? Follow her first few days as she finds her confidence and voice in kindergarten.
I love the illustrations in this book. Absolutely beautiful and unique like the main character of the story. Cassidy has a condition that causes her to have trouble remembering the order numbers go in. She is scared to start school, but has a super supportive mom and teacher that help her transition from struggles to success in the classroom. Allowing her to open up about her condition through show-and-tell was a wonderful teachable moment of not only compassion for other peopple and their struggles, but making them aware of the condition. She was able to show up snd show out during show-and-tell...HER WAY. The other students loved it and she embraced her uniqueness. Loved this storyline and helpful for so many that struggle with this and helpful for those that don't to be considerate of those that do. Be kind to all.
This is amazing, great representation. It's hard to find black and girl characters with disabilities. Especially not Dyscalculia! This book has all three. The way Cassidy is shown really shows the thought put into this book. Dyscalculia is shown so honestly, It was really relatable. I must say the line of her being able to read her name but not being able to count to ten is subtle but makes the book more well written. Very good book. Did not expect it to be as good as it is. It made me wish I could have read this book when I was a young kid. Kudos to Dezi!
This book is adorable. My daughter was immediately routing for Cassidy on her first day at a new school. The pictures are delightful. I love the beautiful colors and expressive faces.
This book was very informative about the difficult topic of dyscalculia and will help children be proud of how they learn differently. This book would be wonderful for any young mind who learns differently and to open other minds to understanding how others are different. This is a beautiful, well-written book for all ages with a wonderful lesson.
Cassidy and the Mixed Up Numbers is a lovely story about young Cassidy as she masters learning numbers in a unique way.
The story was slow in the beginning because of telling by the author.
Cassidy has Dyscalculia, a learning disability where a person has trouble learning numbers. She is a brave, smart girl. She knows just what to bring to school for Show and Tell time so boys and girls can see exactly how she learns number order.
This was a happy day for the boys and girls and Cassidy!
This book was definitely amazing!! From start to finish I love reading books that encourage children to see greatness in themselves despite what others may think. A lot of children have learning disabilities and they need to know that they are just as amazing as the next child This author definitely did an amazing Job with writing this book and the illustrations are beyond amazing
Cassidy and the mixed up numbers is a delightful way to teach children that we all are not the same. Some kids learn one way and others learn another. This helps parents explain that some children have disabilities that may not always be shown by looking at them. This book is excellent for parents and teachers to read to children. Nice job!!
I really enjoyed this book I love how little Cassidy found her confidence. A lot of children deal with disabilities and limitations in school.I like how this author took us through Cassidy’s journey from beginning to end and showed how Cassidy found her confidence and was able to teach people about her disability. I will be following this author I can’t wait to see more amazing books
I would highly recommend this book. The character, Cassidy, is so easy to relate to. The illustrations are wonderful. Cassidy has trouble mixing her numbers up and doesn't want to go back to school. Her mother is sensitive to her needs and they come up with a solution. I would give this a 10 star if I could.
The first couple of days at school is hard especially for children with disabilities. The preschooler Cassidy enters her new school in fear of the math lesson. The young girl with her creativity conquers the math issue by color coding her numbers.
There are so many things literature can teach & learning differences is an often overlooked area. I love how this book opens the conversation on Dyscalculia. It’s a great read and the illustrations are sure to catch your young child’s attention!
This was such an uplifting story. I love how the character Builds confidence and teaches others how she learns differently. Great read for all children to learn about diverse learning styles.
Very nice story about a little girl who has trouble learning to count. I like how the author turned a difficult situation for a kid into a sweet and positive outlook.
This story is brilliantly written for children and adults!!! Dezi Shepperd does an amazing job of explaining that not all children learn in the same manner; and that's ok. Young listeners will find the story relatable and engaging.
