Existential Dialogues II

Rate this book
Do you also have existential conversations with your older self?

Throughout life, a person may encounter many questions without having the time to watch and contemplate, to wonder what everything means to them personally. What did I ask for, other than gentle moments of existence, in which I could devote myself to the silence within me, and debate my spirit over real decisions on real issues? For what is the common alternative? To nullify my existence in blind devotion to the choices of the many, who would dictate my way of life, though I had never asked for their advice? Such a choice would be an insult.I then figured that there must be another way to live, before that predetermined script which some are so quick to carve into the spirits of young people.Harsh words of this kind have burst out of me, a defensive storm protecting me from the possible insult of being a leaf, blowing in the wind without any hold or internal decision. That is why I decided to hold an internal discourse with my spirit, over all those great questions which have always haunted my mind, without letting external voices be a determining factor. Moreover, I sought to have a discussion with the old man I will become – to find an appropriate partner for these intimate conversations, so rare in the freezing reality. Such quiet conversations, where thoughts come up uncensored, are at times a worthy reason to still live. To still be human.

A great work! I try to treat Chechick's works like a guided meditation through the great existential problems we all find ourselves constantly grappling with. Each chapter, as with the first book, ends with a question; the aim of which is to encourage the reader to engage in a similar internal dialogue with themselves so that they, too, can attempt to address the struggles that characterise existence. This book is of great utility and I recommend it to all!

I really loved this book just as the first one from the author. Another set of deep conversation of author and his old self. And another set of wonderful questions and answers. I think questions were better in this book or maybe explained better or writing is more articulate. Somehow Quality of this book seems even more better than last one. More I went into the book the more amazing and interesting I find reading it. Read ut with focus and enjoy it.

It's a book of inflections and dialogues between a younger and older self. It asks questions about life, suffering, love, success, depression, and happiness and much more.

Existentialism is an extremely interesting philosophy, which has been reflected well through the dialogues in this book. As the book takes place as a dialogue between a younger and older self, it is not a typical read. It is highly unique and has many questions and answers that make you wonder about your own life and existence.

The book does a great job of mixing modern philosophy with stoicism and existentialism. Albeit a tiny book at only 127 pages, it is packed full of passages that make you stop and think. It's packed full of passages that make you question and reflect.

I recommend it to those who are willing to take a journey into a dialogue with the author's younger and older self.

Deep & Profound!
Similar to the first book, the author has a dialogue between a younger and older self. The reader can notice themselves partaking with deep and profound philosophical ideas while reading this book. Existentialism is a form of philosophical inquiry that explores the problem of human existence and centers on the lived experience of the thinking, feeling, acting individual. This book does a great job in exploring that territory through the dialogues during this book. A short and a thought provocative read. it's extremely distinctive and has several queries and answers that cause the readers to resonate with the author’s feelings and see the world through his lens.

The format resembles a dialogue and it is written in a manner that could be considered mentally interactive. A thought-provoking exploration of relatable life struggles coated with the right "dose" of existentialism and stoicism. This book's value shouldn't be measured by its number of pages, it may be small yet it's bound to effectively provide insight and unearth things about yourself you may have had in the back of your mind, things you consciously or unconsciously didn’t put in the spotlight for one reason or another.

Analytical Opportunity

The book sets the reader as a third person overhearing a conversation between a young person and their older self on topics ranging from love, to self, death, suicide, friendships and much more. It's a good book for those who want to see other people's points on said topics but also relate to them. While existential is the theme, you fell a bit less existential when you relate and even unconsciously opinionate whole reading.

Good place to start if blunt-big-word-ancient philosophy seems intimidating.

Questions to ask

This has been a book of many thoughts, but mainly about thoughts of life and living, especially living one's own life. Each chapter allows you to ponder and give thought to the questions regarding the chapter. I enjoyed how the author used himself as the one asking and the other giving replies. I have been reading this book over the last few months, and it has helped me to ask these deep and needed questions. I highly recommend this book if you are willing to consider and give thought to the questions regarding your own life.
