Johnny Walker, Dwarf Bounty Hunter is back on the hunt.
WANTED: Dead or Alive. Logree Creature. Origin is Oriceran. Intelligent, flammable, displaying purple goo and tentacles. Do not approach. Leave to the professionals… like Johnny Walker.
Just what the Everglades needed.
But who’s going to watch the teenage shifter staying in his cabin? Turn your back and she’s wrestling an old Gator from the swamp.
Johnny knows what to do. A little magi-tech and a few favors can get the answers he needs.
Will it be enough to capture the monster? How will he raise a magical in the Glades?
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
This KU library selection continues the story of the dwarf bounty hunter, Johnny Walker, his FBI partner, Lisa, and his ward, Amanda. Oh, and his two sibling coon hounds, Rex and Luther, who talk incessantly. Johnny is on another case, Lisa is tagging along, and Amanda is being a relatively normal twelve years old recently orphaned shifter. But the monster they are hunting is playing hard to get. Book three is up next on KU.
Johnny Walker is a Dwarf, a retired magical bounty hunter and guardian of a 12-year-old wolf shifter. He's preternaturally strong, crass and an engineering genius. He developed collars that allow him to communicate with his two hound dogs. He's also got a soft center under his rough exterior.
The authors are awesome at world building and character development within great mystery/action stories.
Yet again, this second book of the series caught me up, kept me glued to the pages, then spat me out once I was done reading! Lol
I'm really loving Johnny Walker.
He's very much the Bounty Hunter, even though he'd taken a break from it, and Amanda, his 12 year old Shifter Ward, is as much a free spirit as he is - but with a lot less patience! Lol
I'm really loving Johnny's Coonhounds, Rex - definitely the brains of the two dog brothers - and Luther, the one who always has to be sniffing things that he shouldn't, and paying for it with memory loss! Lol
I really can't wait to see what Agent Lisa Breyer does, when she finds out those dogs can talk!
Mind you, as a half Elf, she's probably more accepting of that kind of thing, than most humans would be! Lol
Anyhoo, what with Monster Hunting turning into a rescue of a kidnap victim, there was plenty going on for the three of them - or give, counting the dogs and, despite Amanda not listening, & getting involved with some not so nice shifters, Johnny did his best to keep her safe.
What excited me most, though, were the two visitors at the end of this book, and I'm really hoping that book three: 'All Dwarf'ed Up', has them both in the story, too.
So, as I'm impatient to get on to that story, next, I'll finish up this review - this book is brilliant - and, once I've read book three, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!
Spoiler alert, I won't hide it because it's important, but careful reading forward.
I absolutely ADORED the ending!! And what an unexpected twist of things!
So, the book was ok, fast, fun read. A typical 3-star book. Fun characters, absolutely love the kid and the MC is pretty ok. The plot was nice and all that.
What I loved though is the ending: they end with a meeting with 3 badass hunters, and a 4th person informing them that hey, there are a lot of magical kids who are orphans or on the street and who would really profit from a school of magical kids. AND THEY AGREE!
Sooo, I am really excited about the next book(s) in this series! Like, 3 hunters becoming teachers for the lost and lonely kids out there?! Well, that it exactly right up my alley! I empathize a lot with lost kids, and I love love LOVE the idea of them getting a chance!
So yes, because of this ending and this plot twist, the book deserves 4 stars.
Another will written fantasy world 🌎 in the Everglades, Florida adventure thriller novel by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle (Dwarf Bounty Hunter book 2). Johnny Walker bounty hunter has an adopted shape shifter, an elf FBI agent, dogs that talk too him, and lots of strange friends. A strange purple octopus 🐙is destroying buildings on the gulf coast. Johnny is asked too look into it by the FBI and the fun begins with a successful conclusion. I read book 1 over a year ago it must have been free. Now that I have joined kindle unlimited I am looking forward to listening 🎶🔰too this series which I would highly recommend this readers of fantasy adventure mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening. 2022 😄👒🐕👗
Johnny came out of retirement to save a child kidnapped by slavers, he hates those who steal children.
Somebody has it out for Florida properties and is using a pro of a purple octopus from another planet to torch businesses. When Johnny finally traps the alien, she thankful and explains about being forced to destroy businesses or someone will kill her offspring. Johnny hates kidnappers who torture that child even more, even when the child is a miniature purple octopus. Johnny and his FBI bounty hunter department partner are on a rampage again, and they might be coming to your neighborhood.
Another wild ride, twisted action packed adventure for Johnny Walker. A dwarf dont judge him by his siz; or your preconceived idea of a dwarf. He is a protector for a pre-teen shifter girl. from his last adventure, he has a few friends, frenemies allies and afew enemies. He is also dealing with allien from another world..and now he is helping ... ? I recomend this book it is a really a fun twisted adventure, cant wait for the next one
Fantastic job! I finished it & can't wait for the next book. How to hunt describes several angles in this book; Johnny Walker has his ducks in a row. Now, if he can figure out where Luther's mind went, he'd have it all done.
Amanda & Johnny are a great match; adding Lisa permanently would make this reader (with cats that come sit to listen to the Coonhound book!) even happier. Thank you for a wonderful read.
Johnny Walker, dwarf bounty Hunter, has his hands full, what with his new ward, 12 yr old, shifter Amanda, his troublesome coon hounds, a half elf FBI partner and now a purple goo emitting monster that looks like a crazy kraken. The monster is wrecking buildings in Florida and as that is Territory close to Johnny's home in the Everglades he has been tasked by the FBI with stopping it.
So, another case. Lisa is still partnered up with Johnny, and Amanda is finding her way around the Everglades. We are introduced to a few supporting characters from Johnny's neck of the woods. The hounds are there for comedic support. The case goes well, but I'm thinking the bad guy might be around in the next book, because he really screwed up when he messed with the wrong kid...and pissed Johnny off in the process.
Here’s Johnny! Enough with the old cliches...(unless you don’t know what they were.) If anyone doesn’t know the story of Johnny Walker, the Dwarf bounty hunter, back up and read the first book of this series. As usual, the action is intense, the dogs are hilarious, and the lady is beautiful and smart. A great read.
Aside from being as great a read as the first book I so love a x over that those who read lots of lmbpn books understand. If you don't read lmbpn, don't worry, it's a great story anyway. If you do, have patience, read the book from front to back, don't seek out the spoiler, it will make better sense when read in sequence.
Johnny gets a bounty to catch a purple creature similar to a Kraken that is burning buildings. In return he wants the full FBI file on his daughter. But all is not as it seems. Amanda is interested in the local shifter group. Much action and a number of plot twists are revealed.
Martha Carr and Michael Anderle have done it again. I'm completely hooked on the Dwarf books. You have to love somebody who is always up front with his feelings and let's you know exactly how he feels. I'll keep reading til there are no more books than I will move on to whatever LMBPN has in store for me next.
I've read a lot of the books in the Oriceran universe and this one is just as much fun. My only issue was a continuity error with the names Logan and Jordan and he and she in that same chapter referring to the same person. I had to reread it to figure it out. But that's a minor issue in good book.
A single bounty hunter raising an orphan girl, and they aren't Brownstones. Welcome to the Everglades and monsters and human monsters and southern hospitality. The best part is still the hounds. Ooh, bacon.
Fun reading. Martha just keeps getting better. Swamp full of interesting stories. Plenty of magic and good old fashioned add whipping. Looking forward to some more of this.
Magical in the Everglades, who knew. Another set of twists and turns in an other world area right on our own planet! Nice character and plot development. Anxiously awaiting the next book!
The always reliable pulp fantasy team delivers again. Nothing mind blowing or enriching, but consistently entertaining. I look forward to the continuation of this storyline.
It’s enjoyable and easy to read. I spent a decade in the south and I can clearly hear his twang in my head and the coonhounds make me chuckle out loud and my fiancé stares at me a little oddly. I’d recommend it
It just keeps getting better . Great story line. Character development..awe who am I kidding . The people in this story become your friends and family . Great action and a whole lot of laughs.. oh and did mention .. she got the big three together.. read it love it..
The continuing adventures of Johnny and friends. He understands monsters but what about raising a teenage girl who is also a magical? If you liked book one, you will be delighted there is more. And I'm delighted there is a book 3.
An adequate read. I like the universe that has been created for this series of books. Sometimes i wonder where the plot is going as things seem all over the place. In the end though the author does a good enough job entertaining me.
Johnny Walker is a great character, gruff on the outside and soft on the inside. His coon hounds are great comedy relief, them and his ward Amanda are great supporting characters. I have already started the next book in the series.
Johnny is back and dealing with a preteen. Oh the drama!!! As a magical bounty Hunter Johnny thought that life was behind him, however he is dragged back into the life and now he has a ward, Allison to care for and he has no idea how to deal. Between his coon dogs and his crush on the magical agent, Lisa, Johnny’s previous peaceful life is now filled with danger. Johnny is strong, foul mouthed, crass but has a heart of gold. These books are action packed from the word go.
