This book is for those who have always wanted to know about Wicca but didn't know where to go or what sources to trust.
I answered the calling to the Wiccan path in 1990 and how I wish I would have had a book that was this clear, this concise back then!
This is a delightful book (with whimsical, beautiful illustrations) that covers everything anyone new to the path needs to know. The author covers the differences between Neo-Paganism and Wicca, the history of Wicca and the various branches of the Wicca religion. I really liked how she stressed that one need not follow any of these paths, for their path is their own.
Even before getting to the list of spells, this book discusses centring and visualizing. We've all heard that but exactly how does one do that? Amythyst covers this in-depth and in a way that is perfect for the novice to understand.
The spells included in this book cover a broad range of topics and some of which I have never seen listed in books before but are definitely needed these days! I like how Amythyst kept the spell components very simple and easily accessed.
While reading, I felt as if Amythyst had taken me by the hand and guided me down a path, gently suggesting things all the while letting me know the wisdom I sought was always within. Her "voice" is a gentle guiding one, never preachy or arrogant.
I highly recommend this book. It would be a great gift for those new to the Craft, but seasoned witches can also learn from this guide. 5/5 Brooms!

This is a nice and easy book for anyone who has NEVER read of Wicca and Witchcraft.

It covers the very basics in very accessible languages without too much spiritual or religious content. However, if you're looking for more detailed explanations, more spirituality, or have read even a few articles. It might be too basic for you.

But I'm not sure I'd give it to someone who isn't interested already.

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Essential Guide To Wicca For Beginners by Amythyst Raine is a fantastic read for anyone interested in learning about or practicing Wicca. I found the book to be well written and well organized. The book delves fairly thoroughly into the history of Wicca as a whole, as well as explaining the different modern practices and beliefs. There are also a wide array of rituals and spells presented and thorough explanations of the components and tools used for each.

This is a solid addition to any new Wiccan's bookshelf.
