The Base #4

Shadow of a Memory

Rate this book
Will these three men realise their strength or will their enemies tear them apart?

Brennan is more content with his life than he has ever been. After having been a lab rat and an assassin in his previous existence, he never believed he’d end up being engaged to a prince and finding a family of his own. Life is never simple, though.

Cillian is a prince who was kidnapped and abused. When he was rescued, he’d lost trust in everyone until Brennan showed him kindness. Falling in love had not been his intention, but he couldn’t resist the pull of the man. He never expected love to happen twice.

When his college research paper implicated some royal aristocrats, Elijah was wrongfully sentenced to life in prison. Eight years later, after being released and stationed at The Base until retrial, Elijah tries to reconcile his new normal. What he never envisioned was to find not only his family but the loves of his life.

Is love strong enough to intertwine three souls together forever?

That was an amazing read. The way the characters interact and the intricacies is so complex and we see a whole picture off what everyone thinks and how acts when they feel threatened or their way is not met, how they complot at what extreme they are willing to get for accomplishing what they have in mind.
I'm extremely happy to see how Elijah found his happiness with Brennan and Cillian after a life of suffering and a time spent in prison innocently. It was also heart warming the reunion with old friends and the way Elijah blooms with his new found family.
It was an exquisite read and can't wait to see what happens next.

The story was very enjoyable. I have to say that if you are going to read this series, start with the first book. This is the first book I've read and I had difficulty figuring out who the characters were and how things tied together. Also, the author's voice didn't draw me in as I had hoped. The dialog was stilted and strained, the action did not flow from one thing to the next. Lots of tell not show instead of showing instead of telling. It was just difficult to read. Overall, I must say I am not sorry I read it, but I do hope the authors get more flow in their writing and learn how to be more natural in their dialog.

This book is amazing. Framed for a crime he didn't commit Elijah spends 8 years in hell. When rescued by the new DA Ian. Ian sends Elijah to a place called the Base. Its a place that helps rescue kids from trafficking. Elijah falls in love with Cillian and Brennan. But will Elijah's fears of being used destroy them all and the happiness they can have?

great fourth book in this series,,,, Brennan and Cillian are a great couple but when they meet Elijah there was a instant attraction but Elijah had to overcome some thing like being put in jail for no reason and finding his dad mom and brother were things that went on in his life is all connected and to do something about it at the same time having a triad with Brennan and Cillian,,, i read this book from these authors for my honest opinion

This has being my favorite from the series so far. Elijah was a nice main character who seem to take the weight of the book on his shoulders. There were other characters but I don't think any was as interesting as he was. I had a hard time trying to remember everyone and their connections and maybe because of it I just center on Elijah. It was an enjoyable read.

This is Book 4 in The Base Series where Brennan and Cillian finds their third in Elijah.

It has been 8 years out of the 25 years he was sentenced to prison for. Put in jail at the age of 17 for the crime of Treason, something he didn't comment. He has gone through such hell while there from the inmates and as well as the guards. He is then set free by the new DA Ian Saint-Claire, who then sent him to The Base and vow to find out the truth behind his imprisonment.

We also see:
1. Fabian going full out in his 'turning a new leaf saga', finding that bound/love with Lance, saying good bye to past love, etc.
2. Lance finding his youngest Elijah, whom he thought died in a fire; seeing his wife, giving her that divorce he should have done long ago, and finding a friend in Fergus.
3. Arden finding his lost brother.
4. Find out more about George and his son Nigel.

As the story comes to a head, secrets are revealed and some still yet to be reveal; families are reunited and innocent people set free.

Thank you H.M. Wolfe and Evera Ellis.
As always you did and excellent job giving insight to each character and what they are doing, saying and thinking whether they be the MCs or secondary.
As I read I see they are more secrets to reveal and characters that needs their story told.
Looking forward to continue following this journey of The Base Series.

This is the fourth book of the series which introduces Elijah to the Base. Wrongfully imprisoned at 17, he suffered terribly for 8 years. He was released due to the new DA who looked over his file. When he goes to the Base he eventually meets Brennan and Cillian who are already an established couple. This is their story about how they overcame their doubts and fears to become a strong throuple. I highly recommend.

Is love strong enough to intertwine three souls together forever?

Teaser:
“You are so warm and soft, and all things good. I could stay like this forever, but I’m afraid he wouldn’t be so happy about it, so I better not. I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.” Elijah’s voice, suave and melancholic at the beginning, had a harsh edge when he indirectly mentioned Cillian’s abuser.
“And who do you think would give me a hard time over spending time with you and trying to help you get over the nightmare you’ve been through for so long? Brennan? He is the one who sent me here in the first place.” Cillian’s melodious, soft voice calmed Elijah even more, but he still had unanswered questions.
“What does Brennan have to do with it? I was talking about the scum who mistreats you, the one who wrapped his hand around your neck and squeezed it. I involuntarily saw the scene yesterday and felt so sorry for you. I was...” Seeing the gentle smile on the blond’s face, Elijah cut himself sort, confused and somehow irritated. “What’s so funny? Or are you into pain?”
“What you saw was my promised one tenderly caressing the back of my neck, while his lips were whispering the sweetest words of love into my ear. Brennan chose me as his soulmate, and I feel grateful and blessed to be part of his life, in spite of me hurting him in so many ways.” Cillian fell silent, his low voice tinged with regret and sadness.
“Ardan’s brother and you...are engaged to each other? And how in the world did you hurt him? I don’t see you capable of harming a fly.” Confusion and surprise were mixed on Elijah’s face as he studied the blond.

Shadow of a Memory by H.M. Wolfe and Evera Ellis is the fourth book in The Base series. The story is told through various points of view and gives the reader a fuller grasp on what is happening and what the characters are thinking and feeling.  All of the books are woven together so well and you really do need to read them all in order to fully appreciate the dynamics of the story and characters.  Their interactions are full of feeling -  fiery passion, sweet connections, sorrow and forgiveness.  There is healing and there is redemption.... there is growth and acceptance.  The story held me captive with suspense, action, drama, and emotion.  The characters and their relationships are beautiful, strong and wonderful.  I am enjoying the saga and can not wait to see what occurs next for this group of men.

So happy to have more in this series! I love this series so much and the characters in this world I never want their stories to end. I just keep wanting even more from all these characters and this world. This book had so many different emotions and kept tugging on my heart making me need to find out what would happen next. Elijah deserved a happy ending after everything he’d been through and had to endure but it was hard to see if he’d get it or let his past come in between him and his happy ending. Cillian and Brennan had such amazing interactions with Elijah and I loved these three characters so much. The characters are real with flaws and real emotions. I enjoyed the multiple POV’s since it gave more insight into each character and their emotions which for me made them even more real. Definitely an amazing book in an amazing series!

This series has been one heck of an emotional roller coaster. Horrible, horrible things have happened to the characters, but they have only gotten stronger as they find love and family where one would least expect it. Here, we meet Elijah who has been serving a sentence in hell but is freed and sent to the Base for recovery. There, he meets Brennan and Cillian and they all realize they belong together. It will take all their strength to heal but the author has written them so that even in the darkest times, we knew love would prevail. I hope we see more in this world and would love to see how all these characters are getting on about 5 years down the road in the timeline.

What I love about these books is the redemption from the evil that befalls the characters. These three are some of the sweetest characters that ever existed. I loved their romance. But, the underlying story is what keeps the books going. I love the supporting characters and the storyline. I've enjoyed these books from the beginning and they just get better. Can't wait for the next one.

If anyone deserved a happy ending it was Elijah, after suffering for years in prison for a crime he didn't commit he finally gets his chance. I enjoyed seeing him work through his fears to accept the love that Cillian and Brennan were offering. A really wonderful addition to the Base series.

This was one hell of a fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, bittersweet, emotionally charged, raw, gritty, gripping, powerful, intense, five alarm flaming hot, beautiful, tender, delightful, passionate, tug-at-your-heartstrings, and totally awesome addition to this fascinating series. It had me hooked from beginning to end, and I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous gem ASAP!

I absolutely love this series. Having these guys added to the others is a thing of beauty. Granted three guys working on individual issues and how to make a relationship work is enough to make heads spin. However, it’s beautifully written with page turning characters.

The Base series proves again to be a gripping and enchanting read! You have to read the books in order, but it is totally worth it!
Multi POV narration in this story was very well done in telling a complex story. It's a page turner with 3 captivating MCs with really interesting personalities!
