Babylon MC #1

Without Consequence

Rate this book
After five years of solitude, Drew Tucker, the grieving, sadistic president of The Hounds of Babylon MC is finally out of prison with only one thing on his mind: revenge for the death of his brother.

But everything has changed since he left the small town of Babylon, Texas, and where he once owned the world around him, he now feels misguided, misplaced, and misunderstood.

That only gets worse when he crosses paths with Ayda Hanagan, legal guardian to her teenage brother. Over worked and underpaid, she’s clinging to her sanity by the skin of her teeth. She should be easy for Drew to beat down and manipulate.

She should be easy to keep quiet.

She should definitely be easy to forget.

Determined to stay on the road he was born to travel and reign supreme once more, Drew is willing to fight whoever gets in his way, even the blue-eyed blonde who seems to have more mouth than sense. His actions are about to shake up the whole damn town, and Drew doesn’t care whether that comes with or without consequences.

Or what the hell that means for the likes of Ayda Hanagan.

4.5 stars out of 5. Kindle Unlimited read.

Drew is free out of prison. He’s battling demons and he doesn’t need a punk kid stealing from him.

Ayda is struggling to make ends meet. She has her younger brother to look after and a shortage of cash. Her brother messes with the wrong guy. Ayda is now on Drew’s radar and she struggles to keep her mouth shut. Nobody stands up to Drew.

Ayda has to make things right with Drew and the local MC. She becomes their dirty job lady. I’m talking toilets. Drew is drawn to Ayda. Trouble is drawn to Drew.

This doesn’t follow all the usual MC rules but the storyline was interesting.

**JOSIE'S REVIEW**

*4.5 Stars*

I absolutely love MC books, like seriously addicted to them. When I read the synopsis for this book I instantly wanted to read this book. I loved the way the authors wrote this book. The MC theme was there but the story itself was very different and intriguing. There is no cheating, but there is a bit of grittiness in the storyline. Once I read the prologue I knew it was going to be a great read and let me tell you, the authors did not disappoint. This is the story of Drew and Ayda. Both of these characters bring a lot to this book. I fell in love with Drew’s dark troubled life and with Ayda’s spark, feistiness and loyalty.

Drew’s character is complex, moody and tough. He is recently released from prison after serving years for murder and going back to his MC in Babylon Texas. He finds it difficult adjusting to life on the outside again. He has to deal with the changes in the town and the MC. Drew’s not sure where he stands in the MC life and his brothers question if he has changed because of his time. On his first night back at the club, the club and Drew catch Ayda’s brothers trying to steal from the club. His reaction is different than what his brothers expected. Instead of beating Tate up Drew takes Tate back to his sister’s home. Drew’s world is turned upside down when Ayda opens her door, and is not afraid of him and his brothers, he is not used to females not being intimated by him and his MC. She is feisty and full of come backs, with everything he throws at Ayda, Ayda throws it right back at him.

“Who the hell are you, and what the fu*k are you doing with my brother?”

“Returning him to where he belongs, sweetheart. I think you misplaced him. I don’t take strays. Especially ones that are trying to steal my fu*king money.”

Ayda is raising her 16 years old brother Tate after losing both parents. She gave up everything so she could give Tate a life. Ayda knows all about the Babylon MC and Drew, but for some reason when Drew bring’s Tate home, she cants seem to shut her mouth. Ayda knows there will be consequences for Tate’s mistake. As long as he is not harmed and can continue in school she will sacrifice it all for him. The problem was she was not prepared for the consequences Drew had in mind.

“I love my brother. I will do anything for him, and stop at nothing to protect him.”

“If you’re willing to do anything for your brother, you can pay his debts off too by working for me. You want me to leave you and your brother alone, you show up, do your work , then you go home.”

Drew and Ayda are attracted to one another and I could feel the chemistry they had for one another through the pages. Their banter was amusing to read. An enemy is causing trouble for the MC and Ayda and Tate are caught in the middle. Drew fights his attraction to Ayda but when her life is in danger he goes ALL ALPHA MALE. Drew’s character shocked me because, yes he is moody but he also knows there is something going on between them but he does not know what love is. Ayda’s knows Drew feels something for her and what they have is something special. She is willing to stand by his side despite the fact that he isn’t able to say he loves in.

“You should wear my cut. Be gentle with it. This is more important to me than my own heart. I’m not a good man, Ayda.”

“I won’t leave you. I’m here, Drew. I’m here and I’m telling you I won’t be moved. The only way I would walk away from you is if you made me.”

The authors tell this story in a way that you can feel and see the strong emotions and love Drew has for Ava despite him believing he does not deserve her. The inner dialogue he has is exceptionally written. They leave no doubt in a readers mind the feelings the two share for one another.

“The heat from Ayda’s body was keeping me upright. There was something about her that made me feel stronger just from having her nearby. I didn’t need her words to stroke by ego. That face that a woman like her was within a mile of me was enough. All I could hope was that one day; I’d be enough of a man to earn the rest. Until I felt like I deserved it I wasn’t willing to take more from her.”

The enemy is getting closer and Drew, the MC, Ayda and Tate are in danger. Can Drew and the brothers win the war? Can Drew keep Ayda by his side and safe from the enemy? Will Ayda be able to stand by Drew’s side when he MUST do anything to keep all that he holds close safe? This is the first book in the series. There is no CH but there is more to come and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2. This is great start to the series.

3 - 3.5 ish

Loved the first half but then it got a bit too far fetched and the characters were making me roll my eyes all the time.

There was a lot of thinking and not so much talking or doing that made the pace feel slow at times which was a shame as there was plenty going on. The MC H in particular left me cold in this, the scenes where he had to go and damage things because he's feeling so ragey felt like indulging a spoilt teen to me, not attractive.

Ends on a bit of a damp squib moment with things kind of resolved for now but open for a series. I'm leaving it here though, it's not really grabbed me.

‘I had something else to look forward to besides death and darkness when I woke up each morning……I had a little bit of light in a world, which carried so much darkness.’

This was quite a different MC book the ones we’ve experienced, in fact, at times it didn’t really feel like an MC book, other times, we could feel the MC mood and that synopsis certainly dragged us in!

‘Together, they were unstoppable. Formidable, Brothers in both arms and souls.’

Without Consequence wasn’t particularly gritty. The violence and ‘justice‘ wasn’t vivid and gruesome and a lot of the sex scenes and violence was fade to black but that in no way lessened the impact of this story because whilst it didn’t have the graphic detail of some, it had pure emotion in abundance.

‘I meant nothing. I was nothing. I’d been nothing ever since.’

Told in the alternate POV’s of Ayda and Drew, we felt Ayda’s voice was the stronger of the two. In Ayda we found a loyal, hardworking, strong, sassy heroine who didn’t hold back on her thoughts and emotions and she was refreshing. A determined young lady who had forgone so much in her life to ensure her brother, Tate, didn’t go without and we admired her tenacity.

Drew was a very complex man. Our hearts went out to him many a time through this story. However, we would have loved to have known Drew on a deeper level. Sure, we were aware of his strengths and weaknesses and did experience his inner turmoil and the battle he forged within himself but we needed to experience Drew the way Ayda did. We needed to really get to the nitty gritty of Drew’s background and know the Drew Ayda had such strong feelings for and didn’t feel we as though we did. .

Recently released from prison, Drew has to cope with changes within his club and within the brotherhood he would protect to the death. He has to once again find his place within life and the club but who Drew really was had us a bit baffled.

‘I couldn’t help but wonder if she found it as hard to breathe her way through life as much as I did.’

Now, that’s not to say we didn’t experience the emotion of this story because we absolutely did. One love scene alone was one of the most beautiful we’ve read and had us clutching our hearts. The care and tenderness shown by Drew towards Ayda and Tate was breathtaking and if there’s one thing we knew with every beat of our hearts, it was that this man would lay down his life for Ayda.

‘When he came, our bodies seemed to melt together in the exquisite rapture of the moment, and for one blissful breath, I found my happiness in the midst of his chaos.’

We’re very much show us, don’t tell us type readers and at times, we did feel as though we were being told Ayda and Drew’s story as opposed to living it and it is for this reason and the feelings we had in regards to Drew that this wasn’t a 5 star read.

However, there was so much to love about this book and we really did enjoy it. The telling of this story between these two authors was seamless and their writing really did complement one another. There were moments of absolute beauty and heartfelt emotion in Without Consequence. It’s beautifully written and at times touched our hearts.

‘I dropped my forehead to hers and just stayed there for as long as I could, trying to find the words to tell her what was going on in my head right in that very moment. How could I express emotions I had no experience of feeling?’

We’d definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for an MC book with a difference.

As MC books go this is pretty high up there with my favorites.

My first book by both these authors.

Without Consequence is what I call a quality read, 49 chapters containing highs, lows, angst, drama, in fact, there aren't many books where you get not just the meat of a story but the bones of the story and characters too.

I think the only other MC books I have said that about was Cat Porter who also leaves no stone unturned with the plot and you feel like you have been through one heck of a ride with the characters, have read a good quality book and more than that a money's worth kind of read and this is how I feel about Without Consequence.

A bit about the characters;
Drew Tucker is a feared man, he came across as a loose cannon, a man with a reputation, letting his temper get the better of him and later regretting his actions, going solo for revenge instead of including his brothers.

You first meet Drew when it's time for his release from a five-year stint in prison.
Following on from his release although back with his club he's feeling lost, being back reminds him even more of the best friend he lost the night he was also arrested.

Ayda comes into the story, a struggling one parent carer for her fifteen-year-old brother.
Ayda and Tate's parents died a few years ago in a bank robbery leaving Ayda to pick up the pieces along with her new role as Tate's mum, dad, sister, and carer all in one as well as working three jobs.

Drew and Ayda first meet when Drew brings Tate back home after finding him in the club looking for money.

Drew was once a man who would not let that go, Tate would have died for his actions by the hands of pre-prison Drew but Drew had changed since his release and he gave Ayda a way out by letting her clean at the club as a penance for her brother's crime.

I was glued to the pages with this slow build romance.

As MC reads go this was different to most I have read. I think I counted three sex scenes that weren't really in depth or with descriptive acts. There weren't many foul-mouthed horny Alphas knocking around the MC but there was a rival club and drama concerning that. The main focus was on Ayda and Drew struggles separately and together.

What I liked about this was the gradual build up, the getting to know each other stages with the characters, the breaking down of walls and barriers and then finally letting each other be free with their feelings.
Drew was a man who didn't understand connections, understand emotion, sympathy or love and it was like Ayda became his new tutor and voice of reason.

Great read and I will look forward to the next book.

Told in first persons dual pov, sort of leads to a hea, the club is on the brink of war but with regards to the characters, I did reach a happy sigh at the end for them.

Some books you read and enjoy, but they're gone the moment you shut the cover. Not Without Consequence. I was given the honour of editing this book, and it was a privilege and a pleasure to do so. Every night, I reluctantly shut my laptop down on Drew and Ayda, far later than I ought to have done, because the story just drags you in by the throat.

We're introduced to the characters and the worlds they live in - worlds that couldn't be more different if they tried. And then they are introduced to one another, and that's when the magic truly starts.

For a collaboration to work, the writers must be completely in sync with one another or the whole process falls apart. Without Consequence is a shining example of that process working faultlessly. Their writing styles blend together so naturally that even as an editor, I occasionally had trouble working out where Victoria ended and LJ began. Their unbelievable talent screams off every page as the reader goes on a compelling journey with the characters. The key characters are beautifully crafted and well developed, but so, too, are the side characters. Not one of them feels forced or like they've been put there just to serve a purpose in the story. They are, to me, as alive and real, and just as much a part of the intricacy of the story, as Ayda and Drew.

It's these side characters who make the world we enter into as readers so real and so compelling. You can't help but fall in love with each one of them, despite their imperfections.

Here, in the first book of the Babylon Series, Victoria and LJ have created a world and a story that readers will want to return to over and over again. It has a bit of everything - love, passion, danger, intrigue, characters you love, characters you love to hate and a plot that twists and turns enough that you aren't bored for a single second. I'm already on my second read through and eagerly awaiting book 2.

Victoria L. James is already proving herself to be an immense new talent, with this and her debut novel. And LJ Stock has lit herself a bright future with this her first foray into publishing, and I look forward with great anticipation to more from both of them.

I had the pleasure of being a BETA for this book and what a fantastic read it is. I read from cover to cover in one day, I couldn't put it down. The authors write seamlessly together to create a gripping and intense story. 'Drew Tucker' is one hell of an alpha male character and despite his flaws, I couldn't help but be more and more intrigued by him. 'Ayda' is no wilting flower, she certainly gives him a run for his money, they're definitely a dynamic duo. I'm now left eagerly awaiting the second in the series! Loved it!

5 Stars Without Consequence

(Received an ARC in exchange of an honest review)

It was a fantastic read. Loved Drew Tucker !! I can't believe two people can write such a great book together. The book was very well written. The characters were very well plotted.

Drew Tucker was a strong character. A bit confuse and complex, freed from prison after five years. He is loving, caring & he has some real dark secrets & regrets shadowing him.

"I was a mystery to the town of Babylon. An enigma. Someone they'd heard stories of but couldn't believe them to be anywhere close to the truth. Everybody wanted to be the one to crack me wide open and expose the real me-whoever that was at the time. Only I'd never wanted to go there with anyone else up until now."

He meets Ayda, 25-year-old, mature, hard working, responsible & sole-guardian of her 15-year-old brother.
"I was tired. At twenty-five I was exhausted and bone-weary"

She is sassy, loving & mouthy which makes her main focus of Drew Tucker. The author created an incredible story and chemistry among the characters. Drew goes out of his way and falls for this lady while Ayda accepts Drew with all his misery and regrets.

"I had something else to look forward to besides death and darkness when I woke up each morning. I had a little bit of light in a world, which carried so much darkness."

This was a different MC book with a great combination of action, angst, love, joy and loyalty. An absolute page-turner. The emotions were very heart touching, beautifully written. I really enjoyed it.
Recommended to Everyone.

I had the greatest pleasure of Beta reading this for a couple of fantastically amazing authors. Victoria L James and L J Stock completely blew me away with the story of Ayda and Drew. Now, I'm not one to give away spoilers, and I'm sticking to this, but, what I will say is, OMG!! Drew is totally swoon-worthy and in a league of his own. And rightly so!

Get ready for a new book boyfriend, ladies. He had me from the start!

But this is in no way your average bad-boy/good-girl- love story. No freakin way!

It's a story of love, lust, fear, passion, loyalty and bravery.

Heart-stopping.. Tear-jerking.. Breathtaking..

It took me only a few hours to finish this book and that wasn't because it was only a couple of hundred pages long. Oh no! It was simply because it was too damn good to put down. Yes, I may have supplied the kids with naughty snacks while I lost myself in my little Drew bubble, but I promise, I made it up to them and honestly, it was so worth it.

If you're looking for a new read then add this little beauty to your to-be-read list. I promise you definitely won't be disappointed.

Thank you Victoria L James and L J Stock, for sharing these beautiful words with me. I feel completely honoured.

What a freaking amazing book!! I am literally sleep deprived from this book. Reading before bed, I would try to wait for a “good point” to stop and it never came! There was never a lull that would allow me to comfortably put the book down.

The book starts by telling stories of two different peoples lives. You know that at some point they are going to cross but their lives are so different, you can’t imagine how this could happen. The authors do an amazing job introducing these characters, Drew and Ayda, and creating such an incredible story about how their paths finally cross.

This is the first book where when I saw I was 50% complete with the book I thought – Oh No! I am already half way done. Usually I get to that point and think: Phew! I still have half the book left. 50% was not nearly enough at that point.

As the book was coming to an end, I was giddy to realize that there was so much more story to tell that there has to be a second book. It did not end with a cliffhanger but there is so much more that can be told.

This story had a great mix of suspense, humor, anxiety, hope, joy, and anger. It really had it all and all I can say is you have to read this book! This would make such an incredible movie!

I mean, wow! First of all, I am already a Victoria L. James fan so I was all over this book as soon as I heard about it. Now I have a new author to LOVE in L.J. Stock. The two of them together is perfection! I was stoked to read WC, but I have to admit I was not fully prepared for the onslaught of feels I got when I read Without Consequence. Ex-con or not, Drew Tucker is a delicious leading man...everything that pulls you in, and makes you want more. He is strong, tortured, and capable of far greater things than he will every give himself credit for. Ayda is a brave twenty-something that has sacrificed her own goals in life to make sure that her younger brother has the future that HE deserves.

Ayda is fierce and determined with a broken filter and a mouth that runs as fast as Drew's blood. When the two of them come together, it's like pouring gasoline on a fire. Sure, its dangerous, destructive, and messy but its also seductive and beautiful....and HOT! Hell, even The Hounds of Babylon (Deeks, especially) managed to tug at my heart strings, as the story went on. You can practically smell the leather and exhaust, and Victoria's words will leave you wanting to hop on the back of a bike, and take off for Texas. Well done, Miss James and Miss Stock...Well done, indeed!

Books are born from the imagination, a vision, and some books are truly magnificent in capturing that vision and transferring it into words that can take you on a journey that you not only feel but can see in your mind’s eye.

Without Consequence does this without question.

It is written with such depth and imagination that I could place myself in ‘The Hut’ and hope to the hot MC gods that Drew picked me for a lifetime of badass biker naughtiness.

A blogger can dream, can’t she?

So let’s start with Drew Tucker, an excellent place to start actually. A tortured, lost soul struggling to maintain the front that is expected of him.

Now I had to get ready to take back what was mine. My hometown, my men and above all else my reputation. ~Drew~
He’s not doing that great a job of it when he is thrown in to the path of Ayda Hanagan.

“Blonde hair, obviously. Blue eyes. Perfect. I’m guessing at a 32C rack and a size 6 shoe. I know all this shit already. Let’s skip the formalities and get down to the good stuff. Who are you, Ayda?” ~Drew~

Yep, you like him already, right?

Ayda is trying, really trying her best to make ends meet and look after her younger brother, life is tough and Drew is not about to make it any easier for her. However there is off the charts chemistry between these two, but they seem to feed off the need to wind each other up.

The glass was clear and his back was to me, but his sublime ass was what caught my attention and held it. ~Ayda~

“I don’t want to hurt you anymore” She melted against me as though it was the most natural thing in the world to do. “Then don’t ask me to leave”

This is only the beginning of their story and as book 1 in the Babylon Series we are introduced to other characters that are sure to be featured in the future.

As you turn to the last page you will be more than satisfied with what you know and where the story has taken you, and you will be certain that when book 2 is released you will be diving straight back in to learn more of Drew, Ayda and the Hounds of Babylon.

Congratulations to Victoria L James and LJ Stock for producing a seamlessly written story with heartache, danger, whores and bikers plus plenty of banter that will have you silently high fiving the very beautiful Ayda. The perfect combination I think you will find

Roll up Roll up ladies! You want, no you NEED to meet Drew Tucker.

The book opens with Drew, he’s leaving prison and he’s got a lot to prove, a death to avenge and an MC family to reclaim. Read the prologue and you’ll be hooked…

Chapter one gives us Ayda and Tate! Ayda is 10 years her brothers’ senior and his guardian after they are both orphaned. They have no money and Ayda works 2 jobs to enable Tate to stay in school, she’s tough, sassy and not wallowing in the crappy hand she has been dealt.

Without Consequence is written in a dual POV beautifully by 2 authors, Victoria and LJ have done a seamless job, it really could have been written by one soul. I love dual POV’s – they tell the story so wonderfully and you can fall in love with the characters so much more.

All the characters in the book are extremely likeable. Are they flawed? Sure they are, who isn’t – it just makes me like them more.

When Ayda’s life – which can’t really get any worse, gets worse, she picks herself up and deals with it. Thrown into a situation with the infamous MC Drew Tucker, which she can see no way out of she swallows her pride – for the sake of Tate – and gets on with it. Oh wait – she’s no pushover, she does what she has to do but Drew gets the sharp edge of her tongue on occasion – You Go Girl!

Drew is dealing with some huge emotions, but he’s a man, and an MC – he can’t show it, hell, most of the time he doesn’t even understand it. He doesn’t know how to go back to leading his MC, he doesn’t know why he feels this pull to Ayda Hannigan, he doesn’t know why his pre-jail booty call has married the Town Sheriff, and he doesn’t know hot to ever make amends for Pete’s death. All of this means that he spend half of his time treating Ayda like crap and the other half trying to make amends, he’s fantastically written and even though it all you can’t help but be routing for him, as you scream at your kindle…

You will come to the end of Without Consequence loving Ayda, Drew and Tate and all their supporting cast, this I promise! And desperate for Book 2!

If you love MC books then check this one out. Drew Tucker has been in prison for the past five years and now has to learn how to live on the outside. He was the local MC president and the most powerful man in Babylon Texas. He plans on becoming this again but things have changed in his home town and what once was is no longer. Ayda Hanagan has had a hard couple of years, her parents died leaving her the sole guardian to her little brother, she had to quit school, and now works three crap jobs to make ends meet. She will do what ever is necessary to provide a future for him. Drew crosses paths with Ayda and he's determined to keep her under his boots. She should've been easy to control but not everything seems to work in Drew's favor. Drew is the ultimate badboy biker who takes no s*** from anyone. He makes no apologies for who he is and doesn't care about others. Ayda hasn't been living life. She's been in a prison of her own since her parents died and now that she's been thrust into Drew's world she's finally living again. Drew and Ayda have chemistry but both are too stubborn to act on it. They both have had a pretty crappy life but aren't willing to let it go. There were times I wanted to smack Drew for his cruelty and Ayda for allowing his treatment towards her. Yet he's got his best men on her and her brother for protection. These two authors do a great job of bringing the reader into the MC life and they show how crazy it is. One sign of weakness and you can be destroyed. This is not Hoyt typical romance but it's a awesome MC read with plenty of action and dialogue to keep the reader hooked. I'm looking forward to reading more about the hounds of Babylon.

We were given the opportunity to review Without Consequence.
Our thoughts?

Absolute brilliance.
Awesome.
Couldn’t put it down.
Emotionally charged.
Fantastic.

Without Consequence is Drew and Ayda’s story.

Drew. Twenty-Nine. Has spent fours years, nine months, twenty-seven days behind bars. For a crime he in his mind he committed.
It’s time for him to walk free.
It’s time for him to go home.
To his brothers.
To the Hounds Of Babylon.

Ayda. Twenty-five. Both parents gone. Working three jobs to take care of her 15 year old brother Tate.
Her life is hard.
It’s gruelling.
It’s challenging.

But it’s only going to get worse…..Why you ask????

Because through the fault of her brother’s actions, Ayda will meet her worst nightmare.

Drew.

Without Consequence is nothing short of brilliant. We couldn’t put it down.
It’s full emotion. We laughed. We cried. We held our breathe. We soaked up every word on every page, from beginning to end. We were just simply mesmorised.
We fell in love with Drew and Ayda.

Drew. Omg Drew. Hard, but yet vunerable. Dark, but yet confused by his emotions. Fearless, but yet afraid. Cold. Unsympathetic.

Ayda. Strong, but yet naive. Tough, but yet at times afraid. Loveable. Cheeky. Stubborn.

You will instantly fall in love with them. You simply cannot pass up the opportunity to meet them. So you MUST read this novel.

We highly recommend Without Consequence to be on everyones TBR list and we rate this novel 5 stars.

Thank you to Victoria L James and LJ Stock for this amazing novel and we cannot wait until the second installment

Great book! I read a lot of MC books, and when I say a lot, I really mean A LOT. I love them. Granted, some more than others. This one grabbed me from the beginning and did not let go. This is not the type of MC book where the TSTL heroine falls for the hot dirty talking manwhore biker, they fuck like rabbits every 2 pages, and there is really no storyline except that he is a possessive biker fixated on fucking our TSTL heroine and making her his property. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with these types of MC books, just that this is not one of those.

Ayda has a head on her shoulders, she is hard working and dedicated to supporting her brother and making a home for him. Life has not been easy for Ayda. She is a survivor, but she is running on fumes. Drew was just released from prison and he is an ass. There really is no other way to describe him. He is broken and ridden with guilt. They would have never met under normal circumstances, but fate had other ideas when their lives collided.

I really enjoyed the writing, the storyline, the characters, their imperfections, the grit and the softer moments between Drew and Ayda. There were moments where I laughed out loud and others where things felt so raw that I could not help tearing up.

I would highly recommend giving this book a try and I can not wait for the next one.

OMG!! If this book is not on your to be read list, put it on there!! The collaboration of Victoria L James and L J Stock is amazing! I was sucked in from page one and didn't want the book to end. The moment Drew Tucker opened his mouth, I was in love. The way the characters interacted with each other was so natural and the picture these authors paint, you feel like you're there. Kudos to both authors! I cant wait for book two!! Watch out ladies, there's a new book boyfriend in your future!!

I am not a huge MC reader but have read a few of them recently but to me this was not so much an MC book but more about the love story. I loved the characters and do love a bad boy turned good, however, you can never take the MC out of the man. He will always be immersed but this was more about the girl taking the leap from good girl to an MC's old lady. Taking that leap of faith because love conquers all. Loved it (full review to come)

I am not a huge MC theme fan. I have read too many stories that sex was the main plot in the book and any twist and turns usually ended up back in the bed or the graveyard so I was curious to see how I would like this book.

The truth is, once I started it I couldn’t put it down. Not only are the characters rich in personality and real life drama, they are developed so well they carry the story till the last page.

The authors put a lot of effort into the plot, the real story behind the events that will lead the reader to a new family that I am sure they won’t soon forget. I was addicted to Ayda, Tate and Drew the moment they showed up in a scene together. There is just some chemistry that can’t be ignored, even though Tate is Ayda’s teenage brother; he plays a huge part in Ayda and Drew’s story
.
I could give you a recap about the events in the book but that would spoil the thrill of reading it. I want to talk about the messages and brilliance of these authors as they brought two people who would never normally meet together.

Ayda is the guardian of her brother Tate after their parents died. She gave up her dreams of a career and college for three minimum paying jobs, small house and no social life just to keep his high school dreams alive. Ayda can be a smart mouth at times but she was raised by parents who valued honesty, courage and dedication. Ayda carries guilt over her parents, but she sees life through the filter of choices and responsibility versus guilt. You accept what you are responsible for and make the best you can of any given situation, the guilt you can feel it but you must never let it control your life and choices. She wasn’t happy to have her life changed forever and be put in the parental role over her brother, but she loved him enough to just accept this new position in life and do the best she could.

Drew Tucker is a name that is feared and respected in the small town of Babylon. He was raised to take over the MC club. He is one sexy man who can have any lady he wants. He made some choices regarding where his MC gang was going to go in the future and it lead to the loss of someone very important to him. When this book starts out, we see Drew getting out of prison after a five year sentence. He is going to have to find his place once again in the free world and back in the club that he feels he let down. He is a complicated man, one minute he is the sweet and romantic Drew, the next he is the angry, in your face leader of a MC gang. The guilt of his past changes him but not even he is sure who he is any more. All he knows is he was put back in the small town where people have ideas about who he is from rumors and fear. No one including himself really sees the real Drew Tucker and loves him for his heart, until Ayda comes along.

As I said Tate plays a huge role in this story, being 15, on the high school football team and dating the police chief’s daughter (whose step mom happens to be a former lover of Drew) he gets tired of seeing his sister work herself to death and never have any fun. He makes a stupid choice that will leave him feeling some guilt and responsibility as well when he is brought home by Drew for the very first time.

I have to say from that early scene, the story begins and never lets the reader’s attention go.

You will meet the whole gang and watch how a family between them is formed and repaired after Drew’s return from prison.

Victoria L James and L.J. Stock should be highly commended for this book. It read so smoothly and consistently I forgot it was written by two authors.

The characters are unique and each stand out on their own personality and blend together so well because of acceptance and love. This book will take you in and not let go till the last page, which isn’t a cliff hanger but certainly lets you know there is more to this story to be told and I for one can hardly wait.

I give high recommendations for this piece of beautiful magic called Without Consequence.

Without Consequence
By Victoria L. James& LJ Stock

A First Class MC Book and Fantastic Start to a New Series.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I cannot stress how much I loved this book. This is a definite must read for anyone who is a fan of great reads, and especially the MC genre.
Without Consequence starts with Drew Tucker being released from prison, with the goal of restarting his life. He is ultimately faced witha dilemma, does he want to get back into lifestyle that led to the death of his best friend Pete, and his incarceration, or does he want a more legitimate life, for the betterment of himself and his MC.

Ayada Hanagan has had to grow up much quicker than she should have. Her parents are killed in a bank robbery, leaving her to care forher brother 10 years younger than her. Instead of graduating college, she becomes a working single Mom. She juggles multiple jobs to try to provide agood life for her brother, and wears herself out each day. When her brother makesa stupid decision, placing him in the crosshairs of the  MC, Ayada makes the call to take the penalty on herself to protect her brother.

When two lost souls come together, they will either tear each other apart, or build each other up.  This is a fantastic read. The plot is not rushed so you believe the character development and the relationships that they develop with each other. Both Drew and Ayada are strong warriors in their own ways, and the reader is left feeling that one is not just rescuing, but that they are both rescuing each other. Highly Recommended!

10/19/2015 -- 1 Star

I think this one fell apart at about 50% for me. I stayed with it, but really wish I'd just given it up.

Too much just didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I think the writing sound [no big grammatical or spelling issues], but the story development, or rather the execution is sorely lacking. I liked the characters until I didn't. Some of what they did or said was just beyond stupid. At about 70% they completely lost their minds and any credibility I afforded to them flew out the window.

The second one is KU, but I think I'll pass. I absolutely hate to get to the end of a book and it just poop out like this one did. How do you trust a subsequent book won't do the same. I don't know about you, but my time is valuable.

So, a good try, but it just didn't happen for me.

Happy Reading [you .. not me!]!!
