This book is part of a series that attempts to provide an affordable MBA education. What the heck is blockchain and cryptocurrency?

Blockchain is a decentralized ledger based on peer-to-peer networking. It is a way to move money back and forth, without a middleman like a bank. It has several advantages, including transparency, it is decentralized, there is better security, and it is less expensive, because there are no intermediaries and no paperwork.

Included in this book is a case study of how Walmart uses blockchain to keep track of its items all over the world. If, for example, an Asian factory goes down because of some natural disaster. Walmart HQ needs to know, immediately. If, for example, some African country imposes a recall of Walmart mangoes because of contamination, Walmart HQ needs to know, immediately. Shipping coronavirus vaccines around the world is a perfect example of needing to know the exact location of every container at any time. Blockchain can make that easier.

"Blockchain" and "cryptocurrency" are everywhere in present-day business. This book will help the reader to understand it, ahead of most people. This book is pretty technical, but it is worth checking out.
