I haven't read BDSM since the fifty shades era because it's been a trend that's been so overly done in the romance genre that it's actually become a necessity for me to avoid. I went in blind and as soon as I got to the first page and read the words BDSM club, I was praying it wasn't one of THOSE books; the whole cliché girl is a blushing virgin with no experience, the man is a dominant blah blah blah, but suprisingly (or unsuprisingly if I had payed more attention to the title) it was about a Mistress (a female domme), a far cry from the blushing virgin I feared she would be. She was in control and different. Perhaps the best thing was that the BDSM aspect didn't take centre stage and there WAS a plot brewing. More at play than just the main characters sex lives and I was grateful. Safe to say it was an enjoyable read.

ARC Copy received for a honest review

This is a shorter book, I’m use to reading 300+ page books. I was hoping for more character development and relationship building. With that being said I also believe those two aspects where done well being a shorter book. I’m a huge fan of bdsm books so I was very excited for this book but when I found of the was a a female domme, my excitement went threw the roof. The female domme point of view was done very well. This books also held a plot not just sex scenes. I was hoping for more of a stunner, cliffhanger, plot twist something of that sort at the end but I do believe the book was wrapped up nicely. I just prefer something different in my personal taste. I’m really hoping for a Book on Mistress X.

**Received an ARC for a voluntary review**

Selena Michaels is a new author for me and really enjoyed going into this blind - both blind to the plot line as well as to her writing style.

This one was a short one for me (books I read tend to start at just under 300 pages) AND it was a welcomed standalone, but I had to keep reminding myself that because of these two points, character and relationship development and plot really didn't get to flourish as much as I had hoped it would. However, that is due to length of book and not due to Michaels attempt to. She gave enough story to back the meaning of actions throughout the book, which I appreciated, however was still grappling for reasons for certain feelings and actions the characters were having. A lot was revealed at the end, but all too neatly, if that makes sense? I did appreciate the view of female Doms in this one, however didn't find the MFC, Jennifer, all that convincing. Intrigued by Mistress X and excited to see if Michaels will be fleshing her out in upcoming reads. Still, plenty of sexy times and chemistry between the two main characters made this a fun, albeit quick, read.

This was my first book by this author, so I had no idea what to expect. I didn't find it particularly dark, but it was definitely entertaining. It was a good combination of office romance and BDSM with a bit of suspense and a couple of plot twists.

It was a nice change to read about a Domme and a male sub, considering it's almost always the male who is dominant in these books. They both feel they have to hide their true selves while they're at work, but they instantly recognize something they need in the other person. I also appreciated the fact that neither one of them needed to be in control all the time - again, not something you typically see in this type of story.

I'm very much looking forward to reading more about the mysterious Mistress X. I do hope she shows up in future books.

Starting the story I wasn’t sure what to really expect since it was my first time reading by this author but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I will admit that reading BDSM can get a bit redundant as it’s always the male being the Dom and the women as the sub. However, with this book I was immediately taken in once I found out the story was based around a female domme (Jennifer) and a male sub (Dean).

It’s a mix of office romance & sex club which you think wouldn’t work but somehow does. As the story progresses and the love they have for each other grows, I love that they are able to give up control whenever the other needs it instead of just one being in control all of the time. All in all I thought it was a fantastic quick read that you don’t see often which makes it all the better in my opinion.

I sincerely hope that Mistress X gets her own book soon.

Jennifer has been in a slump. She needs something more when she visits Club Sapphire with her friend and roommate, Luna. She finds a partner for Luna and then goes looking for a partner for herself. She finds one, but he isn't what she really wants. Then, she gets a new job working for a man who is disgusting. He expects sex from her! But she is rescued by his brother, Dean, who Jennifer is attracted to. The story continues, but you need to pay attention so you do not miss anything. There is a lot of drama that we need to get through, but the book does have a wonderful HEA. I definitely recommend this book

Our hero and heroine are both looking for something, but neither quite knows what until they find each other. Of course, it is not going to be that easy and there are lots of opposing forces to deal with.

This is an erotic romance with a lot of intrigue. The story is well written, but not necessarily easy to read as there are a lot of things going on and it can be rather challenging to keep track of them. The characters themselves are well developed and I like them a lot. They have excellent chemistry which leads to some rather nice steamy scenes. Overall, a very busy but enjoyable story and I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

Jennifer and Dean are drawn to each other from the moment they meet. He wants to submit to her, and wants to be hers for life, but she is a little confused. Jennifer likes labels, and finds comfort in them. With Dean, labels do not seem to work. Dean challenges what she thought she knew about herself.
When his sleazy family tries to take him down, Jennifer and Dean will have to work together to survive, and to find their HEA.
The story has some unexpected twists and turns. It kept my interest, and the D/s scenes were well-written.

This book is great. I was hooked from the start. Jennifer is a domme but has been questioning things and is in a slump. She gets a job at Master-Sons Technology, and when her boss tries to attack her she goes to work for his brother, Dean. Dean is a sub and Jennifer is a domme. They navigate a relationship at work and at the club. There is of course drama and betrayal. This was such a good book and the plot twist made it very interesting. I loved the characters they were believable and well developed. This story flowed nicely and it kept me engaged. I totally enjoyed this book.

I received this book as an arc to review.
BDSM with a twist. Its refreshing to see a female main character take on the dominant role, vs being the timid little girl awaiting her "punishment".
You really get a feel for her internal struggle as well.
To leave an honest review, the only reason this book got 4/5 stars from me, is the relationship seemed 'rushed' from the beginning. The main characters would say a line and I would think "well how would you know, you don't even know eachother".
Over all a good read. You find yourself needing to know what is going to happen.

Well i’ll be damned!
Blew through this book In like 3 hours! I absolutely loved everything about it!

Dean and Jennifer were the perfect amount of confused and lost for it to just work! Do I sub? Do I control? Why can’t I have it all! Ah I absolutely loved this read! It was sexy and switchy and raunchy all in one.

Oh and Brian & Nathan! I’m glad they got everything that was coming to them, the full deserved it!

This book is a little too explicitly detailed on the erotic side for my personal tastes. However, what I like about Selena Michaels is her ability to address other prevalent topics within her novels. Be warned, this novel is fast paced and deals with sexual harassment, child abuse, domestic abuse, sickness, racism, rape and violence. I wished this book took a little more time in moving from the conflict to the resolutions. It felt a bit too rushed in my opinion.

I received this book as an ARC to review.

Absolutely loved it! 🥵

Mistress Restrained is unlike anything I’ve read before, I loved the storyline & the characters. Completely different take of BDSM then I’ve personally read. Usually, it’s the male as the dominant. I loved the writing style and can’t wait for the next books of the series to come out.

Well done Selena Michaels 🥰🙌🏼

I loved this steamy hot read. I liked that the woman was the dom, yet she trusted Dean enough to let him have some control too.

Dean thought he was all about being a submissive, he loved it under a woman’s heel. Yet Jennifer awoke something inside him, that he couldn’t wait to unleash.

I love that they both got what they wanted. The give and take, the power and control.

A different take on a BDSM club than you would normally find. It was nice to see the female as the Domme for once. Had a great story line to keep you interested. And I loved that the story didn't revolve around the BDSM club. It actually had substance.

I simply adore the sizzling relationship between Jennifer and her boss Sean, their chemistry is simply amazing. The mysterious Mistress X keeps the angst and suspence level balanced. Looking forward to read more installments from this series.

Really enjoyed not the usual type of book I read, but it was a nice change. Jennifer is a dominatrix, Dean is a CEO who likes to be dominated.... This book also features topics people are fighting against today, Racism, sexual harassment, Domestic abuse. Great book.
