The goddess has jokes. It seems I'm at the end of her latest one. I've been notified that I have three mates I must find, and if I can't complete my circuit, it's not too big of a deal. It's just that, well, the Night might eat my soul. So, the fact that one of my mates doesn't want me, and that I don't know who the last one is, isn't too worrisome. Do I really need my soul?
The Night has jokes, too. Should I trust the bond that he created between me and his son? Or will his epic play end on his terms?
Kelsey Soliz is a homeschooling mama of four and army wife, and when she's not drinking copious amounts of tea or playing bassoon, she is dreaming up all kinds of romance story scapes or reading them like a maniac.
4 stars Absolutely loved this book. Best one so far in the series. Have to say the banter between Gabriella and her men is hilarious. I adored the new characters introduced especially Jericho; he is probably my new favourite. This series is progressively getting better by the book and I cant wait for the forth book.
I liked book three better than book 2 of this series. So I am glad that I started it. Here is a little more story but the important events are kind of fast. So it’s still about Gaby finding the rest of her mates.
The Characters: Names and descriptions of the persons
This book started off oddly and very differently from the first two. There's a prologue and immediately we're in Night's head. And Night's POV is weird. He's supposed to be someone to be feared, the person who is going after Gabby and wants to consume her for her magical powers. But his POV paints him as a comical, pathetic figure and thereafter it's really hard to take him seriously or to feel that he's any sort of real threat. The whole situation with his son, Apollo, was also a farce and just so silly.
This author is really good at writing humour but terrible at writing pathos. She shies away from delving into deep emotions, hence in all the books, emotional pain is never really explored. Dar and Cyrus outliving their family members and spending a hundred years searching fruitlessly for Gabby. Palmer struggling with alcoholism and the feelings of inadequacy which he was presumably trying to drown in drink. Pearson drifting through life aimlessly, feeling kinda lost. Jericho isolated from everyone and living in the shadows. Pax rejected by his family and never having a place to belong. We are told all these things, but just told the bare facts, dispassionately. I never felt the loneliness, hopelessness, anguish.
Similarly, Gabby's despair when a terrible thing happens feels very surface and doesn't feel like a deep grief. And I was also annoyed because I felt it had been avoidable. All this happened because of OW drama which is one of the things I dislike the most in a book. And Gabby being all noble and stubbornly refusing to bond one of her fated mates because he's with another woman, then having to face Night with an incomplete circuit because she hadn't bonded that last guy.
Granted that without this drama, maybe there'd be no story to tell, cos the moment she completes her circuit, she somehow can't be consumed by Night anymore (why? Would she be too powerful? But isn't that what he wants? To consume her power? I didn't understand this part...). So, if she had competed her circuit and gotten all the men in her harem, it would have been too easy to defeat Night. Yet in the end defeating him seemed easy anyway, even if she did suffer some loss first. Even her mates comment on how simple it ended up being. So anticlimactic.
But if the author wanted Gabby to delay completing the circuit, couldn't she have found a different and better way? In the current scenario, there was no way to win cos if Gabby had gone ahead and pursued the guy despite the fact that he was already in a relationship with another woman, I'd have been pissed, too. But then KNOWING he's your fated mate and KNOWING you need him to complete the circuit and KNOWING that if you don't complete the circuit you remain vulnerable to Night and KNOWING that Night is hunting you (because hello, Apollo had warned you about it) and still not freaking claiming him is just stupid! Especially after he has already broken up with that woman because he found out he was cheating on her! But oh no Gabby refuses to bond him because he probably still loves that woman and it's too soon after their breakup and he has to heal and she doesn't want to push him and they both have to be ready for it and... I WAS BEYOND FRUSTRATED. Hello, you are on borrowed time and the villain is after you. THERE IS NO DAMN TIME FOR ALL THE FINER FEELINGS! JUST DO WHAT IS EXPEDIENT AND NECESSARY!
I didn't like that Gabby also never fully addressed Pax's pain and the rejection of having been disowned by his family. In my review for book 1, I said this series reminded me a lot of Their Vampire Queen by Joely Sue Burkhart, and that's because the harem in both books comprises of all different kinds of supernaturals or creatures, and also, in both books all the men in the harem are utterly and selflessly devoted to the FMC to the point of sappiness.
But in Their Vampire Queen, the FMC Shara addresses the pain of each of her harem. She affirms those who need affirmation and makes a special point of spending time with those who are quiet and more self-effacing, so that they won't feel isolated or displaced. When she knew that one of them had spent most of his life caged and alone, starved of touch, she spent one-on-one time with him, letting him just hold her, feeding his soul. In contrast, Gabby knew Pax's pain but although she tells him, "You're home now," and invites him to move in immediately, when he agrees and moves in she goes out on a date with Jericho that very night! Which, I know, the date had been pre-planned, but way to assure Pax and give him a sense of belonging -- just dump him with the other guys. Eh. Not a fan.
Even the way she dealt with Palmer, it was like, "Go sort your shit out, I don't care either way." Never did she try to delve deeper and ask him more about his life, his pain, his fears. "Go see a therapist, I'm not your therapist" is very different from "Go see a therapist and I'll go with you if you want me to." I really did not feel that she had very much empathy and compassion, even though the guys are all talking about how loving and wonderful she is.
I also feel like the story could have ended with this book (especially since the threat from Night had been eliminated, which means the overall story arc from Book 1 ended in this book). To suddenly add a new problem seemed like just an excuse to extend to a fourth book. And, honestly, this problem seemed to make no sense.
One more thing: How was she able to claim and mark Pax from across the room? And do it deliberately? With all her other mates, there had to be a physical touch, it was usually in the midst of sexual activity and was often involuntary. Why was it so different with Pax? I feel like the way the claiming and marking worked was never properly explained and since this one was different, there ought to have been some justification for that. I agree with some other reviewers that overall the world-building was weak.
Gabbi makes me laugh so much. Now she's looking for the new mates that the Goddess assigned her, and she needs all of her 10 mates' help if she wants to defeat the Night. It would be easy if one of them wasn't already in a relationship. Or that Gabbi is now Conduit Supreme and all the magical people now answer to her. The Night is ready to attack and not all of the people Gabbi loves will come out unscathed.
This book had many lol moments, but I felt like the battle was kind of lame. Moreover, there are still instances where the characters ramble or you can't tell who is talking.
Sadly, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. I absolutely adored the first one in the series. The academy setting was great, the MC was strong and sassy. Also it was funny. Unfortunately, this book just missed the mark for me. I love quirky characters but in this book most of them just felt campy and absurd. I crave a little bit of realism, at least, even with paranormal stories. I will still most likely read the final book in the series but I do hope for a little less camp and a little more depth.
I found that I was pretty bored most of the book. I just kept looking at the pages like "Am I done yet?" I think there just wasn't enough action for me. The first 80% was very relationship focused and for whatever reason I just didn't care. And by the time something interesting did happen, I was too bored from the rest to really care. Also, still a few typos.
I will say the sex high parts were pretty freakin' hilarious though. That's all this book really had going for it.
Suffice it to say, I will not be continuing the series.
Update: Nope, reading the omnibus Hemlock Academy: The Complete Series didn't make a significant difference in my enjoyment of the latter half of the book, and I started skimming to see how the god Night ended up defeated and how she ended up claiming the rest of her mates.
Once again, there were typos abound - on my re-read, I finally figured out that "SIONARA" wasn't someone's name, but meant to be the word "sayonara."
The size of her harem at 11 men (Balfour, Foster, Grey, Palmer, Pearson, Cyrus, Dar, ) was absolutely absurd now with the lack of character development we got. For most of them, they barely used their abilities once or twice, and then we never saw their powers again, only in a side mention. We have no idea what kind of family they have and how each affinity differed in practice. Additionally, the inconsistencies in personality before and after mating with Gabby were annoying. For example, the assassin Jericho was introduced as a silent but broody man, but after he mated, he became a talkative dork that ended up taking her along to kill someone . As stated before, the author's attempt at humor really didn't work for me.
The writing also had a ton of info-dumping that was super boring, and insta-love and forgiveness everywhere. For example, Gabby's relationship with Royce after all his dick decisions were a little too rational and calm for the amount of emotional damage he did.
With all these issues, I don't intend on reading the last book. The immaturity, lack of detail, and chaotic action did not work for me at all. --- I made it through about 57% of this book while getting quite disillusioned with the series until I checked out a friend's review that said that Hemlock Academy: The Complete Series was a much better compilation to read as it added new scenes for a deeper understanding of the characters.
So far, we had another 3 new men added to the FMC Gabby's harem in this book, when I had barely even got to know the original 5 from the academy at that point. Plus, even the men that had made an impact in my memory changed personalities very quickly.
The humor was kind of weird for me, especially during the smut scenes, and the dialogue was overly formal and confusing because the author had an issue with mentioning who was saying what. Once again, Gabriella was extremely inconsistent with her respect for consent - she constantly quizzes her potential mates if they're okay with X and Y, but when others prank vegans with vampirism, she and her mates think it's hilarious and not something to be punished as council members.
I'm not leaving a rating for this book at this time, since I plan on re-reading the series with the compilation to see if there is a significant difference in writing quality, world building, and character development. ------ Ratings - abandoned series: #1 First Addition: ★★★★☆ #2 Second Glances: ★★★☆☆ #3 Three to Find (this book): ★★☆☆☆
This is an incredibly funny read so far. I absolutely adore this universe and the characters in it.
The author does an actual amazing job making all men diverse enough, so I can keep them apart, something that often poses a problem with larger groups of partners.
While this book deals with a villain, I still have questions and have a feeling our favourite female main character will be facing more trouble in the final book. Overall, this is a book that is incredibly enjoyable to read, with low angst and high steam levels.
All in all, a good continuation though I have mixed feelings about that ending. It felt a bit like unnecessary drama was created to justify a fourth book. I also felt it was a bit rushed when it came to the Night (who was seriously hilarious btw). But as I like those characters I’ll take it and hope for the best in the last book.
I really like the guys’ dynamics and how welcoming they are. They really are a crazy bunch but that’s what makes them endearing. They are all so deeply devoted to Gabby and she manages to dedicate time and attention to each of them. I also like the new additions and can’t wait to have more of them. They each have clear, different personalities and I just want to learn more about each of them.
This series is not to be taken too seriously and I’m honestly having a lot of fun with it. I’ll be sad saying goodbye that’s for sure. So off I go now !
Yes again Kelsey Soliz you sucked me in to this world and i didn’t want to leave.
multiple POVs, the steam is off the charts hawt! and funny sexcapades that will make you almost pee yourself with laughter. New mates and one hell of a cliff hanger makes you love and hate the author
This was my favorite book of the series.. I felt the most emotionally invested and the spicy parts are spicy as hell. The ending had my heart broken and it definitely ends on a cliffhanger. I don't know this author well enough but I am desperate for a HEA with this group. So many new mates and exciting twists that I cannot wait for all of the conclusions that will come with book 4.
RH (11 mates - yes you read that correctly)/Supernatural
SYNOPSIS (of 4 book series): The story is set in the real world but where humans and supernaturals exist together. The FC, Gabby, is a body smith (basically a succubus) who is also a sculptor (able to change her own appearance and the appearance of others). She discovers she is also a Conduit (someone who must mate with others and whose power will then increase). As a Conduit she must attend Hemlock Academy where her father is headmaster. Whilst there she meets her mates and discovers that she is a Conduit Supreme - the queen of all Conduits with a direct line to the Goddess. As such she must fight the Night which is trying to consume her soul and take over the world in order to become all powerful. The books cover the FC’s meeting and bonding with her mates (11 of them) whilst dealing with bullies and the Night. There is a HEA.
Heat level is 🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆🍆🍆 which means that I did not find the descriptions particularly hot or sexy but there were a lot of sex scenes to the extent that Book 4 is pretty much just sex - I was very much skim reading by the time I got to Book 4. If I wanted to read bad porn then I would!
Be warned, there are just so many editing issues and typos in this series. It’s one of the worse edited stories I’ve read and that’s saying a lot. Other than the editing issues the writing and dialogue is fairly juvenile and there isn’t really much of a story. In fact the main story seems to end at Book 3 but then there‘s a whole additional Book 4. The story arc is essentially: girl has a lot of sex, gets bullied, has a lot of sex, defeats the bad guy, has a lot of sex, becomes all powerful and saves the world (despite providing no evidence as to why she is so impressive), has a lot of sex …. As with many series these days the first Book starts off with promise and then there is just a rapid slide downwards to Book 4 which I found to be a complete waste of time.
The author introduces multiple „humorous“ scenes which she clearly finds amusing. Unfortunately to me they came across as childish and immature. For example, the descriptions of the Night and his monologuing are painful to read as is the scene where Gabby decides to push her chair back and do a basic instinct in the middle of the council office, or her mates taking the mickey out of vegans or the cliffhanger to Book 3. Having Gabby declared Conduit Supreme and she and all her mates immediately replacing the existing council despite not even finishing school and having no experience sets the level of the story just sums up how juvenile the writing is. Not to mention the constant monologuing by characters which just sounds preachy and immature.
This story is supposed to be set in a magic world but actually magic has no real part in the story and the characters could all be human for what the magic actuallly adds. The author also doesn’t really bother to explain most of the powers that each of the characters have which just makes things more confusing as this is not a conventional supernatural world with shifters, vampires and mages. There are these types of supers but there are also a lot of other types. The FC starts off as a strong female and was engaging. Unfortunately she just becomes what she was apparently trying to avoid which is just interested in sex, sex and more sex with some juvenile bad language thrown in as she tries to act like a queen. There is little development of any of the character‘s backgrounds or the world in which the story takes place. It is relatively superficial and I found it hard to get into any of the characters or care about what was happening.
The finale of Book 3 with the Night came across as ridiculous as did the ending. Honestly, I’m not sure what the point of the Night was as he never really manifested as a real villain. He was more an idiot than a villain with no real adversarial story line. One minute he’s there and then he’s gone. What was the point? I’m also unclear why no one was interested in finding out why the Night suddenly became more powerful or how he did what he did. It all came out of the blue and was very manufactured.
In conclusion, this series was a big disappointment and each book worse than the previous one. The FC was one dimensional and honestly, 11 mates just sums up that this was more an excuse for sex than a real story. It‘s really not worth the effort, sorry.
My Thoughts We really get down to business in this book as we finally understand more about "Night" and what Gabriella and company need to do. Gabriella's last couple mates make for some messy entangled drama. Their powers as a unit really come into play as Gabriella can draw from her mates to get things taken care of. A lot is going on in this book, including a look at things from the other side.
About the Characters Gabriella is so fun when "drunk", but is all too patient and nice sometimes. They're not bad qualities, but man did a couple people deserve a slap in the face. Balfour always puts Gabriella first and is smart in how he protects her. His magic is focused in runes and he used them easily, both for fun and when necessary. Foster is great fun, but his wolfy side brings an element that blurs the line between sexy and disturbing. Dar is almost the leader of the men, even though Balfour is the "first mate". He's old and knows a lot of the world the group has been thrust into. Cyrus is swoonworthy in how sweet he is. He's also sly as he tries to subtly get the other men used to being touched. Grey is his chill, sexy vampire self. Palmer is settling in and remains goofy and fun. Jericho is dark and broody yet a total softie when it comes to Gabriella. He's sexy as hell and might be my favorite of the group. Royce is on my black list for most of the book. He seems like a nice guy and all, but he's taken and puts Gabriella through hell as he figures things out. Pax is the youngest and newest, except for Royce, addition to the group. He's totally cute and sweet and very low key all around.
What I Liked With so many men to keep track of, it is impressive that each and every one of them feel like an individual. Some might be similar, might be more prominent, but I know who each and every one of them is as a person. Gabriella does too and makes sure they know it. The broken bed and more "drunken" antics made for a lot of fun amidst the turmoil. I couldn't get enough of the happy times.
What I Didn't Like Apollo. He started off on the wrong foot and then just felt awkward from there. His presence and bond are questionable and their relationship is in a weird place. He's kind of a wild card and I don't know if that's really in a good way yet. The turmoil around Royce was hard to read. I may like how it ultimately played out, but damn. My biggest complaint (and I realize it was probably on purpose, but still!) is "the Night". His monologuing was painfully obnoxious and his evil knew no bounds. Thankfully, he was kind off his rocker or he could have done so much worse.
More Thoughts This one ends on a literal cliffhanger, letting the author make a bad pun (which is honestly fun). Bal and Foster's new circumstances are just heartbreaking and it almost physically hurts. The reforging of memories and such almost never feel the same as before, so I really fear how things will turn out for them.
Does it stand alone? Definitely not as it picks up from right where the last one left off with no catch up passages.
Bottom Line Overall it was a sweet read with some fun moments, but Apollo and his dad kind of brought things down for me. That being said, I MUST finish the series!
This isn't fucking fair. So much shit and then those two.. FUCK.
The men- (IM STILL CLAIMING THOSE TWO OKAY FUCK YOU THEYRE PART OF THIS)
Balfour- I'm crying so bare with me. Shit. He was her first mate, and honestly I loved him so much. He was so understanding AND THE BROADCASTER VOICE. Anyways I loved how he went about taking all the others in and was protective but not super possessive and was just overall very pleasant to be the first.
Foster- We all knew freckles would join. I mean that bookmark shit was too good not to have him join, I'll say I was definitely expecting Grey before him but I'm glad he was the next. Also a poly shifter?? and the wolf sex?? fuck me.
Cyrus- Alright so I suppose he was technically next but they were both there and happened at partially the same time so I'm not counting it like that. He kind of pissed me off at first, but his little thing with Foster and THAT SCENE WITH BAL FUCKKKKK.
Dar- alright he's my favorite of the two brothers, mostly because of how he went about the mating thing because it was hot as fuck and hilarious.
Grey- common we knew he would join. if you didn't at first after he drank her blood you had to have known. It was inevitable. I loved them so much, and the scene when she got her period.. I was very intrigued to say the least.
Palmer- I mean.. I wasn't routing for him I won't lie. He majorly fucked up. But I'm glad he got in, because they obviously needed one another and he settles things when she gets stressed with humor.
fuck who was next? Pearson? I think?
Ight Pearson it is.
Pearson- DUDE HIS MOM THE SHIT WITH HIS MOM aha, anyways that and the nicknames and then the whole party where she's running around with a nerf gun dragging him. It was beautiful and I mean common I would have ran with her too dude. And I'm gay.
Who was next? Jericho? right.. I think.. ight
Jericho- He was my favorite. I mean common, the ball where he put a poisonous flower in her hair, tried to hurt the girl, and then was almost put in jail when she was taken. Theres no way you couldn't love the fuckin teddy bear.
Apollo- I mean, I liked Apollo, I didn't see enough of him to really get a vibe of him but I didn't dislike him. I'm definitely gonna need to see more of how he interacts with the others though.
Pax- ight, there's no way you can tell me you didn't like Pax. He was a baby, and he needed her protection rather than trying to protect her and I loved that so much. Also aquatic shifter? here for it.
Royce- I'm definitely not crazy about him. I have very harsh feelings. If he wants to get in on this he better be doing some groveling like crazy.
But this story line is very intriguing, I was trapped into the dynamics of the world building and I'm very invested in it.
Another fast and quick read from this series but I had a wonderful time all the same!
I absolutely adored how we were waiting to see who would be added next to the harem throughout this book and I’mpositively thrilled with the new recruits. Royce was especially interesting because he already had a girl when he met Gabby; I genuinely didn’t know if he would end up with her, which made this even more angst-inducing.
I must say though, the writing isconsistently fabulous throughout the series; it’s witty, funny, and completely my style. I feel like I can relate to the characters so much better because of how comforting the writing style comes across to me. I LOVE a book that can get me to laugh out loud and this one sure does the trick!
Oh, I can’t go on without mentioning the SMUT. Holy sweet baby J, that’s some good stuff. Absolutely *chef’s kiss* on the sexy times front. I’m digging the MM vibes too, always down for some extra lovin’ within the group dynamic.
So Gabby is down to 11 mates (holy fuck how did we get here from 6??) and she uses her combined magic to quite literally eat her enemy; she devoured the Night, aka one of her new mates Father but before she did so, he succeeded in cutting off her bonds to her two first mates (I.e., Bal and Foster.) I was in a state of literal shock and panic. This brings a completely different layer to the plot now and I’m living for it. They have to re-cultivate the relationship and the bond between them because they also lost all their memories; I’m dying to see how it all plays out!
~4.5 stars~

I love that this author has so much fun with the writing. It almost excuses all the errors in here.
Gabby has three new mates to find but one of them doesn’t want her. Which I can appreciate right off the bat but needless to say I don’t really like the misunderstandings of “I really wanted her all along” spiels cause it feels like plot armor. I much prefer when the author does her thing and makes your chest ache cause the dudes aren’t falling over her immediately.
This book was pretty fast but entertaining. The ending was interesting, mainly cook and funny and a little scary.
Now prepare for my confusion with spoilers.
Ready? Okay.
**spoilers!!**
So when she lost her bond with her mates, she didn’t feel any love towards them. Doesn’t that mean the bonds are the only reason why she loves them?? Cause that’s how I took it and now this whole thing is weird. Like if it were with the newest dudes I wouldn’t care but she lost the longest ones, and I’d think by this point that she’d have some genuine love for them at least because hey! Time makes things! So I just don’t understand what the bond is if it’s so tied up to their love like that. Like... is this “bond” supposed to be actual love? Are you telling me it’s an instant love button? And because she can’t have another bond, she has to build it back up old school? That’s the only theory that makes me feel better because yikes.
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book. I do my best to not include spoilers in my reviews. Where appropriate, I do include content warnings.
May has been the month of finally reading various books and series that have been recommended, I've looked at, kinda shrugged my shoulders and went, "meh?" And I cannot express how badly I am kicking myself right now.
Hemlock Academy is one of the most surprising rom-coms that I have come across. Even with reviews and recommendations, I would never have expected the downright hilarity of this series. I cried from laughing so hard. I have never read anything like it. I'm torn between giving an example or letting you find out on your own. I guess I'll do some vague-posting and just mention that multiple characters get ... how to say it while still being able to post on Amazon ... some characters get rather inebriated after having relations ... unexpected, right out of left field and had me in stitches.
Another thing that I really enjoyed about this series is the large and diverse harem of guys. I love the intricacies of getting to know so many characters and falling a little bit in love with each of them. From mages to shifters to vampires to supernatural races I've never seen before. It was an absolute delight. All the way around. Delightful.
Don't miss out on this. You'll regret it if you do.
So I definitely stand by what I said in my previous review that 8+ mates is too much lol. The author does try to give the new guys some screen time and they all have somewhat of a backstory and something quirky to make them stand out from the rest but she also clearly has favorites (favorites that I agree with, especially Foster) and they get a lot more POV chapters and one on one time. The steamy scenes are consistently decent, I think she does a good job keeping the content spicy and non-repetitive despite being… a lot of peen to go around.
There is a LOT of good gushy romantic stuff; the chunk of book pre-gala nearly brought tears to my eyes because of how doting and loving the guys were. And the flowers and serenading scene was too cute. If I could take all the gushy stuff and leave all the Royce drama and change the ripped off mate marks thing I could end the series here as a faux HEA in my brain because all this goddess meddling crap is too much. BUT unfortunately, I can’t un-read that cliffy and I need Foster & Bal to be reunited with Gabby & the gang and I’m really hoping to get more screen time with Pax & Jericho (I freakin love him). Pax did not get the level of reassurances or one on one time that literally everyone else, including Apollo, son of the villain, did. 😕 He has a super tragic backstory and needs some lovings.

This book was really enjoyable! There’s a LOT of mates and so they don’t all get page time, especially as she’s still finding new ones, but they’re all unique enough so it doesn’t get confusing.
I really like Gabby, she’s funny and I like how she reacts to things. It’s a light read, which I always appreciate. There is light MM in a steamy scene, but I’m so glad that there’s no romantic feelings involved between the guys. I’ve been wanting the sole focus to be on the girl in my RH’s lately, and it’s been getting harder to find.
I really liked the new additions, even if Royce made a really dumb decision that I’m super sensitive about 😅 honestly, I’ve been getting waaaaay too sensitive about character decisions lately and idk why! I would’ve liked a bit more groveling before Gabby accepted him, but there was no way to avoid.
The action with the Night seems to get resolved really quickly, so I’m left wondering if that’s it with that. (Which I really don’t mind if it is!) i like just reading about their relationships and Gabby changing the conduit system.
I was anxious for the end with what happened, but it set up book 4 nicely. I’m so excited to read it!
Also, I loved the preview for her new book coming out! The concept seems great!
Gabby has gone from the secret conduit to Conduit Supreme with her newest goddess-given marks. And what to do if one of her mates isn't interested?
This book seems more rushed than the first two. This means even more mistakes which I would not have thought was even possible. It's such a shame. With a good critique partner and a tough editor, this series would have been much better. I'm beginning to wonder if there is any proofreading.
The plot is still questionable and the characters are suffering. I'm now skimming sex which makes the book a short read. I enjoy the silly antics more than the sex itself which has become boring. Jericho is a great addition. Royce is not. I'm sure Cyrus is a favorite of many since he is different but I don't feel there's a love connection with him at all. He is way too into the other guys for someone who searched for 100 years for his mate. I love Bal and Foster, Dar, and Grey. Give them more time. Apollo is still an awkward unknown. Pax is a kid. I can do without Palmer.
This is a brand new author to me and that can be very hit or miss, but I kept seeing this in my recommendations so I decided to give it a try. Two days later and I'm wrapping up book three and will now need to patiently wait on the release of book four.
Why am I saying this is the best book yet? Two reasons. First, the humor. This book was hilarious. The fmc is so funny at times and that has been true since the start but this book had some of the laugh-out-loud funniest moments. Second, a big leap in suspense and drama. This third book had a lot more humor, suspense and drama and that made it funny and engrossing.
Ratings Character building: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ World building: 🌎 🌎 🌎 1/2 Romance: 💓 💓 💓 Heat/steam: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 (there is a lot of smexy times in this series, and the author writes them really well 😉) Action: 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 Suspense: 💣 💣 1/2 Drama: 👀 👀 👀 1/2 Dark: 💀 Nothing noteworthy. This was a lot. I'm not exactly sure where the story is going, but it seems to be lagging a little bit. I'm not sure that I will continue with the series. Is it possible to have too much sex in a book? This one walks the line for me.
Gabby gets a few more mates in this book (Pax, Pearson and Apollo Jade) and by the end, she loses a couple too (Duncan and Palmer). When the bonds get broken, Gabby has a fit of rage and she somehow eats the villain (Night)? It's a really weird ending, and I understand that book four is going to focus on trying to get the mate bonds back, but at this point...who cares? What I mean is that there are no other outside forces to fight. She's in charge of the government and she just consumed the villain that's been attacking her people. I just..I don't get it.

I love this story with Gabby and all her men. I’m just having issues with the grammatical errors. This book has so many more than the last book. For example a sentence that used the word “intents” and should have been “intends”. Also some errors are the word “of” was typed and should have been “off”. So if someone could please go through the books and fix these issues I would then give this a 5 star rating. I love the Princess Bride references it’s one of my all time favorite movies. The personalities of each of Gabby’s mates are wonderful since they are each so different. I have laughed a lot reading this series as well the humor is spot on. And Gabby is a wonderful person/character as well. So I will definitely be reading the next one!
It kind of…devolved? Funny all the way through, but it was basically insta-lust, sex, move in, sex, insta-lust again because boom..new man, sex, umm more sex. And probably as a side note they have sex at their office because they went in to work, so they did work. There was a plot there, somewhere. The funny though went from laughing at the men and their antics, to laughing at a comedic stage play. It’s like the author lost the heart of the book and now can only finish it as a joke. It’s weird trying to explain but best I can do is say, originally as I read the words would play out in my head like movie. I often felt like I was immersed in the world. By the end of this however, I was pulled from being in the world, to observing it. Can’t say I liked that difference to be honest. Still entertaining, but there’s no variance to how she gets her men and it’s tedious
To write a big harem is not easy, i feel that not many can pull it off and feel like you actually get to know all of the guys individually. when more and more guys just gets thrown at the mc i feel like i want to know more story of the guys and getting to know them before a new guy comes in, ya know. Nothing wrong,i love big harems but you have to write it good then. I aint saying this was bad but i just felt confused when so many new people just ran in. I had wanted to have more story, like something was happening and less sex ( just cuz i want them all to do something and bond, more than fucking like bunnies.) ;))
Book three in a series that has got a lot of potential, the sequel failed in finding its footing for me. From start to finish, this book was a struggle for me. The writing, pacing, narration, characterisations... I wanted to enjoy it more than I did. I truly believe the base plot has the opportunity for depth and strength, so I am going to stubbornly keep reading the series to the end. However, I only enjoyed one small part of this book. That small, not-present-enough part was the appearance of two more mates, but their scenes were brief. Maybe my sense of humour and preferences for deep plots is at odds with this series, which is fair enough. But I guess we'll see.
Blah blah blah yes I'm still here I downloaded the complete series and I'm here for the smut and finishing the plot and yes I've acknowledged that I'm embarrassed to have not DNF'd this at the beginning of book one.
Not done yet, just pausing because I just got to the part where they're all laughing because some vampires made vegan humans into temporary vampires so they'd have to drink blood??? I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but it's just so stupid. It's not funny. It's worse than when the FMC made two straight guys make out. It's gross.
Mmmkay I'm done with the book and I'm done with the series. I think there's one more book but I just can't. I'm gonna pretend a happy ever after.
