She’s the town good girl. He’s the bad boy… only everyone has it all wrong.
When firefighter Luke Hernandez saves Ivy Dean in a daring rescue, he gets the flash of an idea: He should ask Ivy out. Lately, his family has been dragging the Hernandez name through the mud and Ivy—with her twinsets and library books—could help clean up his image.
Ivy hasn’t dated anyone since… well, since she moved to the small town of Redemption to start over. What no one here knows is that she has a past of wild nights partying and there are still tattoos under those twinsets. Behind the parties are even more secrets that she’ll never tell anyone, not even Luke.
Though Luke and Ivy can certainly help each other, neither is expecting the lightning strike of need that makes them think they could be more. But when Luke is targeted by an arsonist who knows far too much about him and his own checkered past, he’ll find out that Ivy isn’t the good girl she seemed to be… and they’ll have to dig up some of their own buried secrets to fight a killer who could expose them both.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 4th book in the Wildfire Hearts series. I have to say I really love the romantic and the chemistry that the two main characters has. I have always loved Ivy in the other books when she showed up as a secondary character. I loved learning more about Ivy's life, and wow... She as been through so much. I also loved that Jo shows up in this book, and I loved that even if she is just in a small part of this book her character just jumps off the page. There is a lot of twists and turns in this book, and it kept me guessing. I think the suspense was not like it was in the other books in this series. I would say this was more like a big mystery with a romance mixed in. There was some suspense. I have to say you really need to read the other books in this series before reading this book. This storyline really starts in the first book and little hits are put into the other books about this storyline. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Griffyn Ink) or author (Savannah Kade) via Booksirens, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
Savannah Kade's "Up in Smoke" will keep you guessing at the suspense as an arsonist seemed to know Luke's and Ivy's whereabouts like a well traveled route. Intertwined was the very combustible attraction between these two, when they allowed themselves to shed their fears and uncertainties about feelings being reciprocated. Ivy and Luke grew up in similar broken, dysfunctional families and worked tirelessly to better their circumstances. This alone will win your admiration and earn your love to pick up "Up in Smoke" and get entangled in suspense and smoking, hot romance!
I received an ARC copy for which I have voluntarily posted a review.
Ivy moves to town hoping to start over as she had lived a party girl life but wanted to bury it. Now in a new town she’s considered a good girl. Luke was a firefighter and had a badboy reputation and wanted to change it. He rescued Ivy from a fire and they come together to try and change their reputation. But it seems they are combustible together. But there seems to be an arsonist knows things about them both and they will have to come clean about their pasts to figure out who it is. Will they be successful? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Picking up a Savannah Kade book I know that I am going to get a beautifully written love story but with a bite and this one didn't disappoint. This is the fourth book in the Wildfire Hearts series, each one as good as the last.
Luke Hernandez was a firefighter at the Redemption FD.
Ivy Dean was from out of town but had settled well in Redemption and set up the town library, being a librarian was a job that she loved. Ivy had been accepted into the town as had her best friend Jo Huston, also a firefighter working with Luke.
Luke had always flirted with Ivy but with her neat skirts and twin sets she seemed out of his league.
All was not as it appeared on the surface, both Ivy and Luke had a past, Ivy had kept hers hidden but Luke couldn't, he was brought up in Redemption and all the town knew the Hernandez boys.
Arson was spreading through the town and everything was pointing to Luke or Ivy as being the intended victims, someone held a grudge, but who ? Luke had his suspicions but prayed that he was wrong, the connection pushed Luke and Ivy together and the chemistry couldn't be ignored, Luke would protect Ivy with his life if need be.
This story is full of suspense with twists, turns and red herrings, a real page turner, the last chapter leads nicely into the next book and I can't wait to read it.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
In this latest book in the Wildfire Hearts series, an arsonist continues to target Luke Hernandez, burning homes and businesses connected to his childhood. He's afraid to tell the chief the truth for fear that he'll become the #1 suspect himself, even though he fears that one of his brothers is the one targeting him. The local librarian, Ivy Dean, bought one of these houses when she came to town, and when the fire call comes through, he's determined to rescue her. He's always been drawn to her, but she's a straight laced good girl, and he's just a flirt trying to cover up his past. Ivy never took Luke's flirting seriously... after all, he flirted with all the women. But after the rescue, he stopped flirting with her, and she started to notice. He comes up with a plan: to move in with her as her pretend boyfriend to protect her. But will he save her or put her into the crosshairs? This series is so great. The Redemption fire crew really feel like a family in this small town, exactly what these two with such messed up childhoods needs. I've enjoyed every one of these books and I look forward to the next! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Suspicions, sparks, and surprises make this novel hard to put down. I enjoyed how past insecurities and reservations go up in smoke for both Ivy and Luke. They have been shaped by painful experiences but do not give up on their dreams. I like how Luke never gives up on his family even though their lifestyles and behavior could be embarrassing. He shows unconditional love for them. Ivy's shocking past reveals what a strong character she is now. Redemption is the perfect place for both these characters. The arson mystery provides suspense with a twist at the end that begins a new mystery. Sparks between Luke and Ivy become a steady burn. Will their relationship survive the surprising revelations about their families and past choices? I enjoyed this well written novel with it's interesting plot and likeable characters. After reading a previous novel in this series, Flash Point, I had high expectations for this title. It did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more books by this author. I received a complimentary copy of this title from the author through Book Sirens and submit this review voluntarily.
A Scorching Thriller I have read all the books in this series and this one is probably my favourite so far. Despite his troubled family and rough upbringing, Luke is a really likeable character who has cropped up in previous books as he and the Redemption fire crew have tackled fires that have an unnerving connection to his past. Ivy, for all appearances seems to be a prim and proper new transplant to the town, but is harboring some disturbing, messed up secrets about her past. We learn more about these two characters as they open up to each other and learn to trust in order to solve the mystery of who’s behind the string of arson fires burning through out the town. The mystery is well written and as information comes to light who you think is behind the fire’s changes with each reveal. Wanting to see whether these two make it, both in terms of their lives and their romance had me eagerly turning the pages to finish the book. Highly recommend.

Up In Smoke grips you from the beginning with firefighter Luke Hernandez searching a burning house for librarian Ivy Dean. The fire was the work of an arsonist, an arsonist targeting Luke. And now targeting Ivy, as Luke and Ivy become friends--then lovers. Luke investigates the fires the arsonist has set, and is joined by Ivy. The arsonist knows all about Luke's past, and his family comes under suspicion.
Luke is sexy, protective, and honorable. Ivy is strong and independent, and living her "third life," the third phase of her unconventional life. I haven't read previous books by Savannah Kade, but apparently Ivy played a part in one or more of them. The romance between Luke and Ivy develops believably from friends to lovers and then to love.
The suspense is high, and the mystery is intriguing. Up In Smoke is an enjoyable romantic suspense.
I received a free advance review copy. This is my honest, voluntary review.
When Ivy moved to Redemption all she wanted was a fresh start where no one knew her past. Between her job as a librarian and her conservative clothes we are about to find out that there is a lot we don’t know about her when Luke comes into her life.
Luke has been trying to overcome not only his reputation but his family’s as well. He may have saved Ivy from a burning building but when they start dating both their pasts put them in danger and they will need to uncover the truth before it is too late.
Romance, intrigue and two compelling characters combine into a story that is sure to entertain.
While I enjoyed the book and liked how they went about solving the mystery, I felt that there were many subplots that never came to completion by the end of the book. An epilogue wrapping up the primary couple would have helped, but the author used the final chapter to point us to the next book. I'm left with questions such as what happened to Ivy's sister and her family? Does Luke ever reunite with his brothers and mother? What about Savannah at the library? Lots of unanswered questions with no promises that they will be addressed in future books. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This series combines the thrill of firefighter stories with the satisfaction of smart romance. Ivy and Luke are threatened by a serial arsonist, and this installment in the Wildfire Hearts series is one of the best! We learn backstories that are believable and compelling. Ivy and Luke are not perfect, but they have overcome tremendous challenges that make them characters that you want to follow. The best part about these stories is how the women are not helpless victims--they are smart, and contribute to their own rescue, even where they need a little help to completely escape danger. I especially liked the twists of this story--I could not put it down!
I totally loved Luke and Ivy. Luke is a firefighter and when the latest arsons in the area link to places in Luke’s past he feels that he is to blame. When Ivy gets caught in one of these fires he feels the need to make it up to her but also feels an attraction to her. Ivy has been making a life for herself in this small town but never opening up about her past life. When Luke’s past and hers come back they may need each other to find their way out. Some misunderstandings happen and they have to talk in order to work their way through them. Lots of chemistry with these two and I loved the writing and the story overall.
Fantastic read and exactly what I expect from a Savannah Kade romantic suspense: loads of action, a compelling suspense angle, and best of all, a fiery heroine who’s smart enough to save herself AND to recognize a good man and the worth of a real relationship. Ivy is a sassy librarian who befriends everyone but she’s hiding a secret past. Luke’s amazing, too—a charming Latino who’s a self-made man and faces brutal decisions head-on. Those of you keeping up with the series will enjoy Jo’s part in this story - but it is absolutely a stand alone read!
This series just keeps getting better and better. Ivy is a good girl, new to the town of Redemption and is harboring some secrets. Luke is a firefighter and considered a bad boy in town. Luke rescues Ivy from a fire, they come together, and their journey begins. When an arsonist targets Luke and seems to know things about them both, he will learn things about Ivy and she’s not the good girl she seems. Will they figure out who the arsonist is? I love romantic suspense and Luke and Ivy ‘s story kept me intrigued and turning the pages. An incredible read and one I definitely recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Trying to guess where the next fire will be, keeps you turning the pages. Ivy the librarian is full of surprises, she seems to be skilled in so many things. Her feelings for Luke are so intense, she feels deeply and with all her heart. The information about firefighting is interesting partly because of the danger but also because of the trust the firefighters have to have for each other. I really enjoyed the characters and their relationships.
I think Luke is my favorite hunk in Redemption yet! I have been intrigued by the hint to Luke's story for quite some time. I was really looking forward to reading it. Watching this man struggle between doing what is right and protecting his family all while coming to terms with his feelings made for a great read.
I do hope we get to see more of Lily in the future as I felt that story was a bit unresolved.
Savannah Kade has done it again with loveable characters with complex histories. Luke is embarrassed by his family but he's got nothing in comparison with Ivy! She's been at both extremes in life and now just wants to find a middle-ground and be "normal." Life gets complicated for these two as an arsonist appears to target Luke and Ivy ends up in the crosshairs. But those are not the only sparks flying! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
ONE INTENSE READ!!! Whoa! Fast and furious is definitely the way to go. Yep, talk about falling hard. I do not even know where to begin. I thought the last book was fantastic. Again, this is an unexpected delight in itself. I know, I cannot make up my mind. So, choose them all. You cannot go wrong here, trust me on that. This is a page-turner, smooth flowing wild ride with all the thrills and explosions you can handle.
The 4th book in this series and it is every bit as strong, well written and gripping as the previous 3. Loved the relationship between Ivy and Luke which contained the requisite twists and turns.
Certainly one to read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ivy's family life was traumatic and she had to leave home at an early age. Luke also had a rough childhood. The mystery of who's setting the fires gets revealed in this one. I enjoyed the mystery, the suspense, action , and finding love. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Both ivy and Luke have past reputations they wish to bury. The characters are engaging and well developed with plenty of chemistry throughout the pages. The storyline is filled with plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked to the end.
I received a copy and am voluntary leaving my honest review.
A fantastic story full of action, suspense and steam. Luke and Ivy were both engaging characters with interesting and painful pasts. Completely gripping with so many twists and turns. This 4th book in the series was a terrific read
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Luke and Ivy both have secrets they want to keep. But they are drawn together after a series of arson attacks that follow them around town. They join forces to try and work out who is behind them. This book will keep you gripped from the beginning and is a beautiful love story entwined with a mystery that now needs solving. I received a copy from BookSirens and leave my review voluntarily.
I have enjoyed this series and this book just keeps the streak going. I love the mix of romance and suspense. Both Luke and Ivy had issues from their past intruding into their present, but neither gave up. Good read!
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Both characters had very abusive but different backgrounds which continued to impact their behaviour years later. Both characters were well written and very likeable. Good mix of emotion, action, mystery and romance. I received an ARC from Book Sirens but this is my voluntary review.
Book 4 of this action packed series is full of mystery and surprises. Although they reveal a major mystery there are a few questions that I hope are addressed in Book 5. An entertaining read with great characters. A wonderful love story. I received this ARC from BookSirens and voluntarily give my review.
A good firefighter story that if you wasn’t a fellow fire person than you want to become one. The drama and action has you hooked and waiting to see what happens next I volunteered to read this arc for my honest opinion
A read full of suspense and adventure. Ivy and Luke try to discover who is setting the fires. Both have ideas bit Ivy wonders if Luke is guilty. Savannah did a great job keeping the reader hooked to find out what really happens.
Was looking forward to Ivy's story and it did not disappoint. I knew she had secrets but WOW never would have imagined this backstory. Luke was a perfect match. I love the the whole Redemption FD. Moving on to Ronan's story.
