Tackle is book 9 in the K19 Security Solutions series by Heather Slade and another great read and while this book is standalone it is interconnected with the other book in the series.
Up next is Landry “Tackle” Sorenson and Sloane Clarkson, little sister to his best friend, Knox otherwise known as “Halo”. This story starts out with the plane crash the injured Tackle, Halo and Onyx and sending the other team members from K19 to find them in Colombia, South America. Fast forward to these two seeing each other again and sparks flying.
Sloane has been in love with Tackle since high school so she is determined to have him but he thinks she is off limits...what happens next is a one night stand that turns up the heat, hiding feelings, bro code, secrets, and so much more...
Landry/Tackle and Sloan. Miscommunication is a beast in this story. The story is a best friend’s sister romance, but Sloan is amazing with an intelligence job, fiercely loyal and loving to her family and independent. Tackle is a great team member and best friend and son. Both have to work towards acknowledging their emotions, a relationship potential, the impact on their families and then an ex who won’t let go. The parents for both are amazing and I loved seeing how supportive they were to both Tackle and Sloan. The moment Helo found out was explosive as teased, but short lived. A good ending for a sweet couple.
Oooh, I knew I was going to love Tackle after reading about his best friend, Halo, and I was not disappointed! It's the best friend's little sister, accidental pregnancy, miscommunication smooch-a-palooza I've been dreaming of!
So, Tackle is every little sister's dream guy, and after a very close brush with death he decides there's nothing more important than finally pursuing a relationship with Sloane, even though he knows he should stay away from her. Sloane is also shaken by the helicopter crash that nearly killed both Tackle and her brother, so she's determined to give him the welcome home he deserves.
As with most people who've known each other for many years, there's a lot that neither of them really knows about the other. It's these questions and assumptions that keep getting in the way, but in such a realistic way that I was not screaming at them to just talk already. I completely understood Sloane's insecurities, and I agreed with Tackle's thinking when he pulled back for a while, even though I knew both of them were wrong in their assessment of the other's intentions. That's the genius in this author's writing - that she can make these characters' behavior believable because they don't know all that we know.
I absolutely loved the fact that Sloane is an accomplished, successful woman who only melts for one man, and I adored Tackle with his take-charge ways - just dominant enough to give Sloane the security she craves.
On top of all this, Sloane finds herself pregnant and there's a bit of hometown drama surrounding a woman Tackle knew in high school, but the real substance of the story is in how both Sloane and Tackle have to learn to trust each other to make their dreams finally come true.
Because the events at the beginning of this book overlap those at the end of Halo, some spoilers are in store if you haven't read that book yet. I also loved getting to know both sets of parents as well as the history between the two families. Tackle and Sloane are absolutely perfect together and I loved reading their story so much I've read it several times already. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Tackle and Sloanes story book 9 of the K19 Security Solutions Series. Sloane is the “little” sister of Halo aka Knox whose best friend is Tackle aka Landry they work together at the private security and intelligence firm K19 Security Solutions. They are on an assignment and while on their way back to the U.S. their plan goes down and the two of them survive the crash with non threatening life injuries. Now they are reflecting on how you should live your life to the fullest everyday, tell the people that mean anything to you that you love them, at the end of the day no regrets. When they arrive back in their hometown Tackle has made up his mind that its time for him to let Sloane know how he cares for her. But in all his bumbling around he makes a real mess of things. Sloane has quietly and secretly loved Tackle so they ended up in a night of passion together. They try to work things out to figure out whether they can be together and make it work they feel they have to do this secretly because Halo would absolutely freak out about his little sister and his best friend but at every turn one of the other of them or a third party steps in and bungles things and Sloane runs. Lots of ups and downs, trust issues, secrets, get in the way. Sloane discovers she’s pregnant but she can’t tell anyone who the father is, in fact Tackle finds out by completely by mistake. They have so many issues to work through can love pull them through? Can Sloane get over her trust issues and believe what Tackle tells her? Sloane and Tackle are constantly on a roller coaster of emotions that you will want to grab the two of them and bat their heads together and say “wake up-look at what’s right in front of you”! Will they be able to do just that or will they walk away and be miserable? This series is an amazing set of stories, one I’m very happy to have in my library collection to read over and over again. I recommend to others. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
This is book 9 in the K19 series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would read the previous books before this one as there are characters that are mentioned and events mentioned that happened in previous books. With that being said, in this one we get Tackle and Sloane's story! Landry "Tackle" Sorenson has had a thing for his best friend Knox's little sister Sloane since high school. He never acted on his feelings for multiple reasons, including that it was his best friend's little sister. But when he is injured in a plane crash, his mortality and his dreams for his future become the only thing he can think of. Sloane has been in love with Tackle since they were kids, but she never thought he felt the same. And never thought she would have a shot with him. But when they get together for one night, everything changes. And their priorities and what they want for their futures change. Now they have to fight for the things they need, and try to finally get it right-together.
I really liked this story even if it felt slightly different than the other's. There wasn't a lot of suspense like the other books but it felt more of a second chance story to me. Sloane and Tackle have this chemistry that I was really surprised that they had never acted on before. Tackle is the typical clueless man, who 90% of the time truly doesn't understand what he said wrong. I actually really liked that about him, because once he realizes that he did something wrong he at least attempts to make it right and explain himself. I had a couple of issues with Sloane, I felt like she was judgmental and never really gave Tackle a chance to explain anything before she would just get mad. And that seemed off to me, especially if they grew up together. I just thought she would know him better than that. Otherwise, I liked everything else about the story. I do wish there was a bit more resolution with a certain woman, but maybe that will be later!
The latest installment in the K19 Security Solutions series checks off several favorite tropes: ✔Romantic Suspense ✔Best friend's Little Sister ✔Childhood Friends ✔Secret Lovers ✔Accidental Pregnancy
When Tackle and his best friend, Halo, are injured during a mission, Halo's sister Sloane decides she us tired of resisting her attraction to Tackle and decides she's not waiting any longer.
Once Tackle returns home after recovering from his injuries, he and Sloane act on the attraction that they have hidden from not only their families but each other.
Tackle is all-in, totally willing to commit to a relationship with Sloane. Until he wakes up the next morning to find that she has ghosted him. Confused by why she left when he thought they had finally made a connection, he continues to attempt to reach out only to be met with frustration.
Sloane is portrayed as someone who has loved Tackle from afar since they were kids but she did not come across as someone who was willing to do the work to make a relationship successful. She was extremely jealous without justification and always seemed ready (and seemingly eager) to believe lies told to her about Tackle and jump to conclusions that were totally unfounded.
I was also shocked at how naive Sloane was regarding how her body would react to stimulation and sex. Sloane was in her mid- twenties, college-educated, and held a job in national security. It seemed rather unrealistic that she would ask Tackle if it was ok when she got wet from their foreplay.
I wanted to like Tackle and Sloane as a couple more than I did. I actually found myself at times more interested in wanting to read more about Halo falling in love with his art theft suspect.
The book was well-written and I realize that, like in real life, I'm not going to be fond of both halves of every couple I come across.
This book starts with a prelude to bring us up to date after the mission that ended in the plane crash. Tackle, Halo and Onyx are all alive but Onyx is in a coma the other two are getting better every day.
This story begins as Halo and Tackle head home. They are met at the airport by their parents and Halo's sister Sloane. What everyone doesn't know is that Tackle has been more than a little in love with Sloane since he took her to her prom. She was too young then but now maybe things can be different.
Halo decides to head to the hospital where Onyx is being taken, while Tackle decides to continue on home. First he wants some time with Sloan, and fortunately they both have the same idea. What they share is intense but instead of it becoming more, Sloan takes off. Something else happened that Tackle needs her to know but she's blocked his number.
Sloan has much to think about and she's sure if she gets involved with Tackle her brother will kill him. Other than that her brother also repeated a conversation he had with Tackle regarding a woman. Now as Tackle tries to help an ex-girlfriend in trouble, Sloan see it as something more.
Tackle has gotten more and more frustrated with Sloan's avoidance of him. Things get a bit interesting when he and Halo get more than a little drunk and Halo calls Sloan for a ride.
One very important fact here, Tackle says something very important to her that she ignores, much like the blocked texts that have that information as well.
There are many ups, downs and twists in this story and plenty of sizzle too. We even get to see Halo with Tara.
I really can't wait for the next book in this series!!!
I so-loved Tackle and Sloane. They've known each other forever because, hello! Halo is Sloane's older brother, and Tackle's best friend. Uh oh, Uncle Halo is gonna have a problem with this lol. These two have danced the mating steps, but sure don't know the words. Also seems like their folks aren't old, nor blind, and could see the love developing between these two for years, but like all good parents, they let their adulting kids, and nature, take its course. Nature got it just a little bassackwards, but that's what happens in life and keeps it exciting. I absolutely adored the dialogue in here between everyone. The storyline was so well described as I could literally picture all the scenes no matter the topic. If it was the heat between Tackle and Sloane, it scorched. If it was Tackle having a clueless look on his face, it was because he really was clueless. Just a perfectly imperfect journey to discovering what being in love is, and how they now just cannot imagine a life without the other. This read is a bit more on the personal side with less about missions, but still has angst and drama. The humor is most definitely there, whether it's subtle or in your face. I fell completely in love with Tackle, and the HEA is just ... WOW!!
I absolutely loved Tackle . It is well written and the characters are unique and fantastic . Landry (Tackle) Sorenson survived along with his best friend Knox Clarkson (Halo) and another team mate Onyx their plane crashing . While working for K19 security Solutions . After surviving Tackle decided to tell Halos sister Sloane he has feelings for her and see if she feels the same about him . Sloane has loved Tackle since they first met as children . She is shocked to find him interested in her but after making loved she runs out on him . Tackle can not stay away from her . She does a pretty good job at avoiding and hiding from him . All this goes on with out Halo knowing . Sloane does not think she can handle a relationship with Tackle because of his dangerous career choice . Sloane resisting Tackle is hard but Sloane has a big secret and Tackle does not give up easy . This story is wonderful . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Tackle is the ninth book in the K19 Security Solutions series. It is also the first book I have read by Heather Slade so I was not sure what to expect not only with the author but also with the series. I found that I could read this book as a standalone but there is some crossover with characters from previous books which was not bad but I felt like I was missing context at times. but even with that said I still liked this story about Landry "Tackle" Sorenson and Sloane Clarkson. This story is a mix of best friend's little sister, forbidden fruit, friends and loved forever all woven nicely together into an entertaining story with a couple that is perfect for each other but it only took them years to finally give in. I enjoyed this story as it is well written, has an engaging story-line and great characters. I will definitely read more by this author in the future.
I received a copy of this box set and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I have been waiting for Tackle's story for a while and I wasn't disappointed at all This falls into a couple of genre best friends sister and unplanned pregnancy but at heart it is all romantic suspense
Sloan has had a crush on her brothers best friend for most of her life and the feeling is mutual but Tackle has no intention of ever going there after all Sloane is his best friends little sister But when a near fatal crash has him thinking about short life really is he can't resist and he makes his move. Soon Sloane and him become an item but while they know one another there is much they have to learn Can they have a future when things become complicated with a unplanned pregnancy and a woman from Tackles past creating drama You will have to read to see. Once again Heather has written a book where though there is a great back story it is the characters themselves that are the making of the book
I absolutely loved Sloane and Tackle’s story. Heather always has such well written storylines that offer an array of emotions. Her characters are well developed and realistic. Tackle and Halo (Sloane’s brother) worked together and were the best of friends and according to the “bro code” Sloane was off limits — forbidden. After their near death experience both men were changed and thought more about what they wanted in life. Tackle always had feelings for Sloane, but he didn’t know if she felt the same way. He decided he was going to talk to her about it. The chemistry between these two was off the charts, the highs and lows, the doubts, being honest with one another were issues they had to overcome and keeps the reader turning page after page for more. I highly recommend this book and any others by Heather Slade.

Just like his best friend Halo, Tacklexs near death experience makes him embrace life to its fullest. That means finally going after the woman he's wanted for years. Sloane is Halo's younger sister and although she's ecstatic that her brother was not mortally injured the man she's most concerned about is Tackle. She's loved him most of her life. His arrival home embolism her to make her play. Their night together is a dream come true for both of them--until it isn't. No matter how hard he tries, Tackle makes missteps right and left with Sloane. He wants now but she wants forever. Throw an old ex in th mix whose spouse is mistreating her plus has hardcore criminal connections and the jealousy factor is amplified. When a truth is revealed Tackle does what he thinks is the the right thing with disastrous results. Some well placed advice has him pulling out all the stops to prove to Sloane that he wants her now and forever.
I cannot not even tell you how much I loved this one! Tackle may have spoiled me for all other book boyfriends. There was less intrigue and action in this book than others by this author. But in its place was the angst that comes from two people who are falling into love, fearing how that could change the dynamic of their families and their friendship. I wanted to smack Sloan’s as much as I wanted to be her! Sloan has been in love with her brother’s best friend since the first time they met. Hearing that he nearly died has her on the edge. Nearly dying has made Tackle realize that his biggest regret was not pursuing his best friend’s little sister. When they come together, holy amazeballs, they are hotter than fire! Watching these two figure it out was heart wrenching, but oh so wonderful!

Another great read by Heather Slade. Tackle and Sloan’s story is as complex as they are. Sloan has been in love with Tackle since first laying eyes on him when they were children. Her brother Halo and Tackle has become best friends from the start and all she could do was admire him from afar. Fast forward 15 years and nothing has changed for Sloan. For Tackle the near death experience has shown him that life is really too short and he decided it was time for him to act on his feelings for Sloan even though he knows Halo isn’t going to for it. This story has lots of ups and downs for both Tackle and Sloan but in the end do they get their HEA. Well you’re just going to have to read it for yourself. Happy reading!

Landry ("Tackle") Sorenson has cared for his best friend Knox's little sister since high school. He never told Sloane how he felt. After a plane crash injury, he began to think about the future, seeing how quickly it could have been taken away from him. And the future brings to mind Sloane.
Sloane also has had feeling toward Tackle since they were kids. She never figured he would be interested in her. But things change and maybe this time, they want the same thing. They had one night together and then Sloane ran off. She wasn’t apparently ready to commit yet, considering all the (mostly unjustified) fears and doubts going through her mind. She ignores him, blocks his calls, or doesn’t pay attention to what he is trying to tell her. (I found her actions very childish and irritating.) Will they ever get this sorted out so they can be together?
Tackle and Sloane have hidden their attraction to each other for years but one life changing event makes Tackle decide he needs to let her know how he feels. There is plenty of angst going on in this one as well as times you want to shake some sense into them both as lord knows they do like to jump to conclusions and heaven forbid they talk about anything. This book isn't just about two people destine to be together but also about family and how sometimes you get too far in your head to think clearly and also that there are some situations you don't have control over. So get ready for off the charts attraction, surprises that are good and bad, some good laughs and a story that draws you in from the get go!

Someone must have written this rule somewhere: “Thou shalt not get involved with your best friend’s little sister.” Perhaps, this rule, written or unwritten, is meant to be broken. Sloane is putting Landry through the wringer. Some might say that it is Landry, or Tackle if you prefer, who is making Sloane suffer. Since it takes two to make or break a relationship, perhaps, both are at fault. Can they ever fix their relationship? The attraction between them is off the charts, and they have loved each other since childhood. However, a very important element is missing from their relationship—a healthy dose of communication. I wanted to reach through the pages and give both of them a good shaking. If you like contemporary romance with a whole lot of angst and heat, you might like this story. Heather Slade delivers a well-written book, yet again.
Tackle and Sloane have a history as he is a best friend of her brother, and you know the Bro-Code. Now older, their emotions and intense feelings are out of the box and steaming hot. Both have been waiting for the chance to be with each other. The characters are strong and determined, with great backstories. The romance is a crazy roller coaster with extreme highs and lows, some fairly quick. The suspense of the missions and what is happening close to them keeps you on the edge of your seat. Could not put this book down as it just sucked you in. Loved how close the families were and how supportive. Deep feelings and trust were the at the top of the list. Very well done. Can not wait for the next storyline.

This is the story of Tackle & Sloane. They both really have never been in a relationship before. Tackle’s character keeps saying things the wrong way. Sloane’s character seems immature with her mouth and her actions. Can they survive these things? Tackle and Sloane are bit frustrating, but in a good way. This is what makes this story. Jumping to conclusions and causing misunderstandings is never good. There’s also an issue of trust on Sloane’s part. Trust is one of the bonds that holds a relationship together. There is electricity between them. The steamy scenes are great! I always love reading anything by Heather Slade. She always pulls you into the story. Looking forward to more of her books.
Grrr! Men are so frustrating, they just expect you to know what they are thinking and how they are feeling...do they not know how to use words! Tackle may be gorgeous and amazing, we know his heart is very definitely in the right place, but there are times you just want to shake him! He can be so dense! Sloane is very quick to be defensive and run and hide, which surprised me a little considering the job she does and the career her dad and brother have...maybe we put it down to hormones! But I expected her to be tougher and a little more adult about everything. Tackle may be targeted by jealousy and deceit, but will he do the 'right' thing or will he put him and Sloane first? A fantastic book which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
This is such a good addition to the "K19 Security Solutions" series. It can be read as a stand alone read but the stories are interconnected. This is a brother's best friend and accidental pregnancy plot about Tackle/Landry and Sloane. Sloane is Halo/Knox's sister. Knox we meet in previous stories. This story begins with a plane crash that injures Landry along with two other members of the team including Halo. The accident impacts not only the ones involved but also Sloane. The attraction and feelings between Sloane and Landry is strong. I really enjoyed how their story developed. Seeing the struggles the characters go through as their love grows and relationship develops really makes the story.
You seriously cannot beat Heather Slade, when it comes to literary escapism. Novels packed with dynamic and engaging characters, twisted and detailed plots, romance and adventure, are simply brilliant ways to escape the everyday. Ms Slade writes in a way that encourages an emotional connection between reader and character, which along with the stunning backdrop encourages you to get lost in the storyline. I could continue with the praise, but instead encourage readers to decide for themselves by providing this five star recommendation.
As described in the blurb, this book is packed full if everything a reader could want - unless you want mediocre - you will not fine that between these pages.

Fast paced read. Heather Slade is definitely a writer to watch. This book (and all her books for that matter) is a fast paced adventure with tons of heat, characters that everyone knows belong together, even though there are some roadblocks and a great story. Tackle can handle anything, except Sloane and she's determined to get her man! I love the characters they are real and have personalities that stay consistent. Sloane has issues and knows she wants the guy but there are something you just don't get. Tackle is just the guy and sometimes he does "just the guy" thing. There is more going on than just the relationship though and then there are the family dynamics. She's his best friend's little sister. The action doesn't let up and the ending for them is great.
Tackle is a veteran, who joined the K19 team, continuing the work he loves. But when he and his best friend survive a plane crash on a mission, he is re-thinking his goals and wants to settle down with the woman he has loved for a long time. But she does not know about his feelings, as she is his best friend's younger sister. Balancing love, guilt and determination to ask her out anyway, the cocktail for an interesting story. Well-written and engaging the reader from the first page onward. It makes reading easier, if you are familiar with the K19 stories, but they are not necessary to follow the story. This book could be read as a stand-alone story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4.5 Stars This is book 9 in the K19 Security Solutions series and it features Landry/Tackle and Sloane. When you escape death it makes you take a good hard look at your life. It may take a while, as it did Tackle, but eventually he realized what’s important. Sloane has loved him since she was 12 years old. I just wish her first instinct at the sign of trouble, wasn’t to run. What’s preventing them from being together you ask? Her brother is Tackle’s best friend, Halo.
This story line is fantastic! As always, the characters are awesome! I do wish the whole thing with Nick had been explained in more detail but maybe we will hear more about that in the future. The action and adventure is always top notch with K19 Security Solutions.
I really enjoyed Tackle by Heather Slade. I was riveted from the very first page reading Tackle and Sloan's story. Tackle, real name Landry is best friends with Sloan's older brother Halo, real name Knox. Sloan has loved her brother's best friend for years but has kept it to herself all this time. Sloan is devastated when not only her brother but also Tackle are involved in a very serious accident while on assignment. When Tackle and Halo come home, will Tackle finally claim the woman he has always loved? Definitely recommend this page turner! I will also be reading the previous in this great series.
OMG action from the start that has your heart beating to fast! Going to break the rules of bro code after his life was almost cut short, Tackle wants to let Sloane know he has the hots for her. Halo might just kill him for this. OMG I loved the banter and the excitement of this story. The drama that cause problems, the uncertain feeling and misunderstanding. Heather Slade knows how to keep us invested and excited to keep reading her stories. Each book in this series feel like a part of family but still a standalone. Very recommended!

While we are introduced to Landry (Tackle) Sorensen in previous books, it is in Knox (Halo) Clarkson’s book that we get a look that something was simmering under the surface with Halo’s sister Sloane. It was this teaser that makes us excited for this book.
We get to see what really is going on between Tackle and Sloane. The secrecy and suspense, added with the miscommunication between them is what makes this book stand out. The characters are so well written that you cannot help but hope they succeed.
