A disclaimer for Goodread's legal department, for when this review is inevitably reported by an attorney the author referenced in the above video hires:
Now onto my review (edited 9/8/2021):
Why do people choose to read the books they read? Maybe a friend recommended it, maybe they came across an advertisement, maybe they were swayed by hype on social media. Maybe it's a book in their favorite genre. For me, the above video is why I decided to read this series. While following a lawsuit I was shocked to see Lee Savino's name repeatedly come up in court docs from AC's legal team the spring & summer of 2020. Lindsay Ellis' video shed light as to why that was the case. Adding another twist to the Omegaverse saga - new plagiarism claims. Having to know more, I decided to read this series to see what this envied witch character was all about. I've done a deep dive into this. If you scroll to the bottom and read the spoiler I've added some extra research I found that provides even more context to the wanted witch.

Original review from 10/26/20:
3.5 stars but first, a disclaimer. While I've enjoyed it before, ménage is not my go-to choice when it comes to erotica. On top of that, shifter PNR is not my go-to paranormal sub-genre. If you're a reader who likes those two things, this is a series worth checking out :)
I'm not gonna lie, I mostly read this book out of curiosity. I had to know more about this witch character. I am a genuinely curious person & will be reading all of this series. I gotta know more.
Gosh, with the election sometimes mindless smut hits the spot and that's exactly what this is. This was entertaining, and the author did put forth the stepping stones for a real story to continue with this series.
A weird note I have is the sentence structure. It seemed, overly simplistic at times? It slightly affected my reading flow and it's something I know I'm going to notice more as I read the rest of the series. Mixing up more complex sentences with simple sentences would be my constructive criticism, I guess. I know this was published in 2016, so it was the author's earlier writing.
For being such a short installment, the author made the characters interesting with some texture. The warriors have a mysterious past; they've been told by this witch that they will meet a woman who is fated to be their mate with the . It added some intrigue that was nice. I liked how Brenna had a scar & was mute. Having flawed characters, where their perceived flaw plays into the plot always makes a story more interesting to me.
These Berserkers though! I think the author said one of them came from Norway? They came across more like Scottish warrior-wolves to me:
This is basically the image I saw in my head every time these Berserkers said:
Such a beautiful lass. So perfect for us.
You cannae fight it. Just relax and give yourself to us.
As much as I love our scent on her, our little love needs another bath. But first a wee nap
So, I don't know much at all about the dialect Viking Berserkers from Norway used (I'm pretty sure they were from Norway?). The entirety of my education regarding this comes from watching the TV show, Vikings. Then I've read/watched Outlander. Maybe I'm completely off and making myself look silly right now, but it felt like the author was trying to use this old Nordic dialect, to make these Berserkers sound Nordic, so she decided to use these Scottish words: "Lass, dinnae, & cannae" over and over again. Maybe I'm off and these words were used in Norway & I'm just associating it with Scotland because I've read/watched Outlander? idk. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal & kinda funny to me. I got a definite Scottish vibe vs. Nordic Berserker vibe.
I'm onto the next book. I'm looking forward to learning more about this witch
We are witch born. The beast lives inside us, and it can be sated. Somehow you…” He paused to tip his head into my hair and take a deep breath, as the warrior did so often. “…you soothe the wolf.”
His great hand covered my scars and for once I didn’t flinch away, held in thrall by his story and his eyes. “I became a scholar, and sought a witch. She told us to look for one who’d been marked by a wolf. Daegan passed through your village, saw you bathing in the stream, and knew.”
For Context (background of the "return the witch" letter):
Even More Context (yep, there's even more background & the subpoena): In the above spoiler I linked to Lindsay Ellis' 2nd video about the Omegaverse saga, and how Lee Savino received a bizarre letter from AC's attorney. Check that out first. I've just focused on the 'return the witch' and 'signed statements' part of the letter. But let's go back to that letter about why AC subpoened Lee Savino as part of her counterclaim against Zoey Ellis in the Omegaverse lawsuit. This also connects to AC's fb post about Lee Savino, screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/kOLZwWL
So here's a quick recap:
Ellis' DMCA count was dismissed for lack of prosecution in July 20' because her company Quill went bankrupt before trial. Despite her count being dismissed, the lawsuit continued because of AC's counterclaim, accusing Zoey Ellis & others (including Lee) of tortious interference. Ellis' attorney and Lee were subpoenaed as third party witnesses as part of AC's counterclaim. In the counterclaim AC alleged Lee Savino had knowledge of sock puppet accounts, and was reporting her books to Amazon & her Facebook ads. No evidence was ever provided. This is one reason why AC dropped her counterclaim. Here's a court doc with AC's allegations against Lee: https://www.scribd.com/document/48237... & for those who can't access Scribd: https://docdro.id/rsyXqvX
In her counterclaim, Cain alleges that Quill, through Zoey Ellis, Margarita Coale, and others, utilized numerous fake online accounts to make false reports to Facebook about advertisements which caused advertisements to be removed, which tortiously interfered with the sale of books (Doc. No. 33,Counterclaim, ¶ 37-39; 67-71). Cain alleges that Quill, through Zoey Ellis, Margarita Coale, and others, also made false statements about books to Amazon, which resulted in some of books being taken down and banned for sale on Amazon’s site, which again tortiously interfered with the sale of books. These acts of interference have caused injury to including lost sales, which she estimates amount to between $75,000 and $435,000 in damages
In February, Cain served a Rule 45 subpoena on Ms. Lee Savino who appears to have relevant information about counterclaim, including the names and false accounts used by Quill, Coale, Zoey Ellis, and possibly others, to interfere with Facebook advertisements and Amazon sales. Both vigorously objected and Cain now seeks leave to pursue and enforce these subpoenas after the current cut-off
No evidence of these allegations have been brought to light. What's crazy about this is:
1) It is inexpensive to subpoena someone. You just pay the filing fee. On the other hand, for the third party subpoenaed, they will have to hire an attorney and the cost to respond to the supoena can be upwards of $5,000 close to $10,000 or more in some cases.
2) According to Lee (from Lindsay Ellis' video) Lee has never spoken to Zoey Ellis.
3) What's crazy to me is that the counterclaim said nothing about Lee plagiarizing AC's witch character. So, this "return the witch" letter AC sent after dropping the counterclaim...just seems so batty and random.
So the accusations against Lee are:
1) She has info about sock puppets 2) She has reported AC's FB ads 3) She has reported AC's books to Amazon 4) She has plagiarized this witch character that AC hasn't even published. (At least, she hadn't published a witch character at the date her attorney sent the"Return the witch" letter).
These types of subpoenas are called 'fishing expeditions', are considered intrusive and overly broad. Subpoenas need to be specific and have a factual basis. Depending, the third party may not need to comply, esp. if there's such a broad range of questions and no factual basis for the requests in the subpoena. It's expensive to hire an attorney to defend yourself against a subpoena though.
AC talked a lot on her FB about having evidence..Considering AC made this public on her Facebook to her fans, and she subpoenaed Lee in federal court where the documents are open to the public, I think it's a fair question to ask for actual evidence of all these allegations.
Never in a million years would I have thought my reading journey on Goodreads would inspire me to do a deep dive into a MfM ménage shifter series, focusing on a side witch character so deeply. And that it would connect to lawsuits, plagiarism claims, these "signed statements" that I'm dying to see but probably will never be able too. lol.

"I felt it then, unbidden, a stirring in my loins. Ever since I had come into womanhood, my desires were strong. Every month I fought the pull to find a man and join with him. I was hideous and destined to be an outcast and alone. But each full moon my body came alive, beset by waves of roiling lust until I felt desperate enough to grab the nearest man and beg him to give me sons."
And...
"Just like that, I felt warmth rush to all my secret parts. My womb clenched and filled with longing."
98% smut. No context. No plot. A lot of sleeping and bathing and sex. I got bored. You also didn’t see them go berserk. I missed that since the whole series is called Berserkers. I didn’t hate on the writing, but I definitely didn’t enjoy some of the wording of different human parts. 😂 Not for me. ☺️ And it says a lot because Smut is totally for me😂
Read: 29/04/2022 1st rating: 1.5 stars Genre/tropes: Smut/shifters Cover: 2 stars POV’s: Single -1st person (Brenna) Will I recommend: No
It wasn't badly written, but I truly hate stories like this where the "heroine" is just a thing to be used. If you prefer your female characters with some semblance of a spine or self-respect this is NOT a book you want to read.
Brenna was once marked by a wild beast, taking her voice and leaving her scarred and considered hideous by those around her. That is, until she was sold to some warriors who knew her truth - she was made for them.
Samuel and Daegan treasure her, lovingly taking her, making her theirs and them hers. It's raw and beautiful.
It is a long time before Brenna realizes that the "wolf" that she soothes is actually a wolf, berserker. Paranormal isn't my first choice for reading or listening but I really liked other works by Lee Savino and decided to give it a try. I'm happy to report that I'll eagerly be moving on to the next book in this series!
The narrator was Robert Ross. I really do like his accent. 😍
I enjoyed the premise and was excited to see how this story would unfold. Sadly, I found it to be underdeveloped, poorly executed, and choppy. It is also very repetitive which is pretty unfortunate given this is more a short story. I started to get annoyed because it seemed that the author tried out as many synonyms as she could. At one point on a single kindle page there was: pillaging cock, manhood, huge rod, and slickened spear. Again, those were used within only a couple sentences of each other. There were many others used throughout the book as well. It almost became a joke with how many ridiculous descriptions were used for a dick. And don't get me started on pleasure bud and those synonyms or the use of cunny. If I never hear about a "slippery cunny" again, it will be too soon. Not only did this story lack an editor, it seems as though the author never even bothered with a final read of the book before clicking publish. There are missing words, incorrect words, grammatical errors, portions where things have been clearly deleted and no longer make sense, etc. I won't be continuing on with this series due to the writing. I really did like the premise and even grew to like the characters through what little development we had for them. Unfortunately, I just couldn't take this story seriously. My assumption is that this was the work of a newer author and since there was a fairly strong base with a good story idea, I think perhaps the author will continue to improve and maybe sometime down the road I will give one of her new works a try.
“You were born and marked for us, and we have waited so long.”
If you’re looking for a h0rnÿ book that has a smidge of plot, then you’ve found it. I read every single word and every single page. I can safely say this was entertaining. Will I continue on with the series, possibly. It’s giving shifters and a human that tames their beast.
I fall in love with this sweet heartbreaking berserker story, about Brenna's who was scared by a wolf when she was young, then sold to Samuel and Daegan who berserkers, basically animals without there mate. It is short story but I do hope to have more of this sweet 3 three some couple. It's has action, but you don't see it, but it is more focused on the three mates. I do hope to have the guys point of view. Please. If you wanted to read a sweet but hot berserker story, then don't miss out on this one. You love it. Just what you need after a stressful day. I was given this for a honest review.
Loved this story of mercenary wolf shifters in the middle ages. The sex wasn't hot because it wasn't descriptive enough. The romantic relationship wasn't developed enough. The shifters' love for their mate was there though. Not continuing with the next book in the series.
Short, sweet and precisely what I expected :) I really liked Samuel and Daegan and the way they treated Brenna. Her being mute didn't lead to artificial drama, something I appreciated more than I can describe.
I don't know why I went ahead and read this book. Maybe curiosity, maybe I wanted a little break and wanted to read something short and steamy? I don't know.... It had nice flow and it was smutty for sure but there was a kinda repeating pattern in the story, for such a short story it was annoying.... Sooo Samuel, Brenna and Daegan are intimate and then the witch's words are included about the woman marked by the wolf and that goes on and on... intimacy and then the witch's words...
Oh, I've heard a lot of good things about this author! Loved "Sold to the Berserkers" ...the storyline and the plot regarding the Berserkers of old and the witch's prophecy was on point! The stepfather's karma was awesome!
Every once in a while I take a chance on a Kindle Unlimited book. I've read some really great books that were on KU. I've also read some really bad books. This is one of the bad ones. There are a few reasons this makes it to bad instead of just okay.
This is very sparse with showing instead of telling. It was a breeze to get through what I did read, but only because the meat of the story isn't there, just the scraps. There doesn't seem to be anything that anchors the characters into their world and gives the feeling that something is off when read.
There is no character development. The author doesn't give the characters time to get to know each other, to get to trust each other, and doesn't allow them to form any sort of bond before throwing them together in bed. With the story line of this book, this is a critical mistake. For a woman who has been in fear of people for a long time, even for various reasons, it's hard to see them just give in and go with the flow because of the lack of story development. I think the author was trying to paint Brenna off as strong or as a survivor, but it doesn't translate well on paper.
And lastly, the poor writing. For some odd reason, the characters were given Scottish accents in a fantasy world. It wasn't a great fit, for me, coupled with the bland sex scenes. And we've all seen those scenes. The ones that make us cringe. This had some good ones that made me put down this book. We've all read some pretty horrid sex scenes and wonder what compelled a person to write those lines. This has some great ones, such as: "I thrashed on his pillaging cock." "...vigorously tongued my dark hole." "...while the other thrust his tongue into my cunny." They were laugh out loud worthy, but I don't think that was the intended reaction.
Brenna was attacked by a wolf many years ago that left her scarred and mute. Her step-father denigrates her and tries to have his way with her. He succeeds right up until the point where she fights him off and keeps him away from her. She also stands between him and her younger sisters. When her step-father gets tired of her, he decides that he's going to sell her to a group of warriors who have seen her and decided that they want her. He figures that the warriors will have their way with her and then discard her.
Samuel and Daegon, the leaders of the group of warriors, have different plans for Brenna. They have been searching for many years for her. A witch told them to look for a woman who was marked by a wolf and that she would help them control their beasts. That woman is Brenna.
This is a short, sexy read. Samuel and Daegon are pretty hot and they take good care of Brenna. Brenna is pretty accepting of her lot and doesn't fight them overly much. She knows that they own her and that she's technically their property. They keep telling her that she is theirs, but mostly I think they mean it in a whole you are my dearest love mine kind of way. I love the menage and the relationship that exists between the men as brothers and between each of them and Brenna. The sex is off-the-charts hot, I mean past panty-melting and into panty spontaneous combusting. I love this series, and this book is a great way to start it off.
This is the first part of what appears to be a continuous series featuring the same characters. Each book is novella-length from what I can tell. It is paranormal themed with shifter-type creatures. A woman, who was attacked as a child and left unable to speak, is sold to a pair of mysterious beastly men with highly erotic preferences.
I wouldn't necessarily categorize this as a romance, however. It's a lot more erotica than anything else. There isn't enough story here, yet, for any of the characters to really form a romantic bond. It could definitely happen in future books but right now it's mostly a scared young woman being groomed by her captors.
However, that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy it for what it was. There was a certain level of suspense throughout the entire story and a lot of erotic moments. This particular novella was repetitive, at times, so I hope to see more variety in the storyline in future installments.
This is a re-read for me. I still feel basically the same about it. It's a paranormal/shifter book. After reading again I felt it WAS a shifter book. Weird how our perception changes. This is indeed broken up into a series. Here's my previous review that I changed slightly.
This was a pretty good read actually. I recommend it. This ended on a HFN and clearly its not finished. It wasnt a cliffhanger though. I felt for Brenna because she couldnt communicate well since she can't talk. She was so afraid of them but knew she would be safe compared to her life at home. Her step-father is a rapist. I cant really tell what sort of time this was but it seems like its not modern and perhaps another reality than a normal paranormal. These men were really good to her but in a way kinda coerced her into being a slave to their bed. They did buy her but they were sweet and did wish they could woo her properly but time ran out for them. They need her to calm their beast with. There's a lot of sex and the only thing that bothered me was as sweet as they were they still force her to obey without having a say in anything. Its a different kind of world in my opinion...a hard life it seems. Otherwise I enjoyed the story. Enjoyed the writing style.
Brenna was attacked by a wolf as a young child and not only was she left scarred but she no longer has use of her voice, she was made fun of and hit with rocks by kids growing up, she has been sexually and physically abused by her stepfather, as if all of that isn't enough now her stepfather is selling her to berserkers. Samuel and Daegan are following the words of a witch, she told them to "find the girl marked by wolves and she will be their mate" so when they see Brenna they know that she is the one that will soothe the beast within. Although this was a quick read it has all the makings of a great series. The characters are very likable and Brenna has three sisters that I would love to know more about. Especially with the way this book ended it looks like Sabine may just be the next sister to find her HEA with a berserker.
One of my favorite lines in the book: "I had never experienced such care and gentleness at the hands of a man, much less two warriors who could kill me as quickly as caress me."
Wow, is all I can say about this book. Sold to the Berserkers is a short, erotic, and epic read. In this book, Brenna was sold to the Berserkers because a witch had told them she was marked by the Wolf. Unbeknownst to the Berserkers, Brenna was attacked by a wolf, her throat torn out and left to die. However she recovered but was left without the ability to speak. Since this is a ménage book, the alpha males and Brenna got frustrated since they couldn’t communicate. However over time, they were all able to bond and eventually speak to one another telepathically. This story is erotically hot in the way they make love and speak. I found myself in awe of Ms. Savino creative writing style. I look forward to the next book in the series. Well done Ms Savino. Your story is intriguing, the characters are amazingly developed, and your imagery is spot on. A must read!!!
This is a quick read, with a good mix of world building and character building. It's very fantasy based and needs to be read as such. If you're looking for gritty realism you won't find it here, but if you're looking for a hot and easy to read book this fits the bill.
I felt that there were missed opportunities to add depth and build detail into the story. A few scenes were just a little too brief and rushed, instead of really allowing us to get a feel of the characters and their situation. However this is still an enjoyable read, perfect for when you don't want anything too challenging but still want to be entertained.
I love freebies for two reasons, the first being obvious, they're free. Score one for this story. The second is it give a reader the chance to sample an otherwise unknown (to them/me) authors writing.
This is an erotic MFM, paranormal story. However despite all the 'heat' and slippery cunnies, the plot and characters failed to hold my attention. Is that on me or the author? Grab a copy and decide for yourself.
When Brenna's step father sold her to Beserkers she feared the worst for her life. Little did she know that the unsavory wild men might just be her salvation. The two wolf driven men had searched for a long time for the woman attacked by a wolf and while they hoped to find her they were still unsure if the witch had told them true. It is she that can tame the wolf within and the heat that comes from this threesome makes the pages alive heat and romance.
Interesting spin on the werewolf shapeshifter storyline. Brenna was scared by a dog attack is considered undesirable in her society and being raised by an evil stepfather. He sells her to two men who are ruthless mercenaries know to rage into violence during battle. Samuel and Daegen turn out to be the Alpha and Beta of a pack of were shapeshifters and as foreseen by a witch, Breena is the scared female who can tame the beasts within them.
This was a quick and steamy read filled with lust and passion!
The story of Brianna, Deagan, and Samuel is a amazing story that is well written. Brianna was bitten as a child by a wolf which left her scarred and without a voice. Her stepfather took her to a forest and tyed her to a tree sold her to two warriors. Deagan and Samuel where told by a witch that they will find the one they seek wiuth a scar on her neck. They buy Brianna from her stepfather which she is scared of them when she sees them. She thinks she is their slave but unbenouced to her she is their salvation. Can Brianna trust them enough to give them what they want?
Short story about a girl sold by her stepfather to 2 men who are known to have questionable back grounds. It’s a MFM story where it is all about her. It kept my attention to get through the book. It takes a really bad book for me not to finish, however, I will not be reading on in the series. It just did not hold my interest to keep going.
