Derek Schmitz is a disabled, queer, nonbinary (pronouns they/them) teenage self-published author based in Alabama. They began writing at a young age and have been writing ever since. They dove deep into the writing world as they wrote Camden's Secret, the thrilling spy novella, and learned what it's like to write and work with others through the publication process. After publishing Camden's Secret, they wanted to write their idea of a perfect romance, one that includes their disabilities, into existence. Thus, Sevan: A Gay, Disabled Teen Romance was born.
When they’re not writing, you can find them advocating for the disability and queer communities on Twitter (@derekischmitz) and their blog, snuggled up in bed reading while wearing grippy socks, monitoring the weather, and enjoying the scent of candles.
Keep up with them on Twitter at twitter.com/derekischmitz and their WordPress blog at derekschmitz.com, and show them your support by grabbing a copy of one of their books or writing a review today! Thank you!
