A year after the Winter Soldier failed his mission in DC, Bucky Barnes is doing his best to stay under the radar from both Hydra and Steve Rogers. His hope for a peaceful day-to-day life in limbo goes awry, however, when he meets Queens’ newest hero; a pure-hearted kid with a death wish and a ridiculous pair of red and blue pajamas.

The last thing Steve expects when he finally tracks Bucky down is that, not only has the man been living in Queens all this time, right under his nose, but also that, in the two years since they last saw each other, Bucky somehow acquired a kid.

This is easily the best parent!fic I've read in this fandom - by a large margin - to date. I wouldn't mind a bit of a coda... say... a wedding? A sibling? College and some empty nest syndrome? PepperOny?

RR 2025: HOLY FUCKING SHIT HAHAHAHA this fic is the GOAT!! I remember reading this a looong time ago wondering why it was kind of hidden under the stucky tag— so glad it’s finally gotten up to the number one spot. The dialogue, storytelling, characters, and relationships are all spot on. Bucky is such a sweetheart and literally the most dad I’ve ever seen a dad dad. Peter is a cutie and I can’t stop hearing his dialogue in like always a wobbling voice. “You were always my dad” yeah it’s over. Steve is the best pops and an amazing boyfriend. The tension between him and Bucky was INSANE I was losing my mind. And when they finally get together WHOAHH!! the last two chapters are always going to make me cry especially the becca parts… literally fml like that’s the shit that always makes me cry without fail. Read this and change your life forever
